My Questions On Many Contemporary Practices Of Spiritual Warfare And Deliverance

Posted by Job on May 15, 2009

When I first began this site – as well as its now defunct predecessor – it was primarily one devoted to spiritual warfare and deliverance based on what I had learned from reading works by such people as Frank Hammond, John Eckhart, and to a lesser degree Rebecca Brown, Frank Peretti and Derek Prince. (Now where this field is considered to be dominated by Pentecostals and charismatics, please know that Frank Hammond, considered to be one of the most influential teachers in this area, had a Baptist background, having been trained at Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.)

Now when doing research – inasmuch as web searches can be considered research! – for teachings and material to include, quite naturally I would encounter many statements by Christians opposed to spiritual warfare and deliverance ministries and ignored them, chalking it up to faithlessness and false doctrines. However, one of them did capture my attention. It did not dismiss the possibility of Christians conducting legitimate deliverance ministries out of hand, which forced me to pay attention to it.

However, this article stated that the methods  to cast out demons popularized by Hammond and fellow travelers not New Testament doctrine and did not conform to the example by which Jesus Christ and Paul cast out demons. Instead, the “Pigs In The Parlor” and “He Came To Set The Captives Free” spiritual deliverance techniques far more closely resembled accounts of how rabbis used to cast out demons as recorded in the Talmud and other rabbinical writings. This document further stated that there was a line of Messianic prophecies among the rabbis that when the Messiah came, He would not have to rely on the laborious techniques of the old covenant rabbis, but instead would be able to cast out demons with power and authority, the spoken command. See, for example, Luke 4:33-37. Also note that Paul’s example of casting out a demon was much more after the manner of Jesus Christ in Acts 16:18. And the clincher, as far as I was concerned, was the assertion that the Frank Hammond method was also very similar to Roman Catholic exorcisms! (How ironic that J.P. Moreland, upset over a friend of his having to leave a prominent evangelical post upon this friend of his converting to Roman Catholicism, stated that evangelical Christians should abandon sola scriptura, calling it “Bible idolatry“, and suggested that among other things Roman Catholic traditions on exorcisms was an area where evangelicals should learn from Catholics!)

Now having rejected all of the other arguments against contemporary spiritual warfare and deliverance ministries, this one – that it did  not conform to the example of scripture and that it was an imitation of practices of intertestamental Judaism and of Roman Catholicism – I did not have an adequate answer for. So, I decided that while I would leave the existing spiritual warfare material on the site – reasoning that they are, at the very least, better than nothing and certainly preferable to the modern evangelical trend of relying more and more on psychology and psychotherapy, fields that were largely invented by New Agers, occultists, atheists, and sexual perverts (do a little research, it’s true!) – while refraining from adding new ones until I came across more Bible based doctrines of conducting spiritual warfare and deliverance.

Sadly, I have not encountered such doctrines as of yet, and in the past year or so have focused less on this area and more on “Christianity 101”, things having to do with the basics of the Christian faith and Christian living. Perhaps when I am done with grounding myself in the basics of the faith – matters of which I was very presumptuous and prideful while being wholly ignorant and immature – it will be a good time to investigate the doctrines of casting devils out of people anew.

Still, I have continued to discover more things about the teachings of Frank Hammond in particular that trouble me. First, Hammond takes a vast array of sinful habits and behaviors and attributes them to demons. (I actually had the goal of reproducing Hammond’s “demon groupings” chart on this site and never completed it because it was so large, now I am rather glad that I failed in that undertaking.) But the more that I ponder his teachings in this area, I perceive this as not considering Romans 7. This is not to say that Frank Hammond rejects Romans 7, but I have not seen him incorporate Romans 7 in his doctrines or applications in any careful way. This is very serious, because a study of Romans 7 is vital in discerning whether activity is demonic or simply due to what Romans 7 calls “the body of sin.” Instead, Frank Hammond advocates relying on a Holy Spirit gift for discerning demons. Now how does the Holy Spirit gift for discerning demons operate, and how are we to use it in a church or ministry context? The Bible does not say, so we have to rely on the teachings of Frank Hammond to tell us. Also, where Romans 7 makes it clear that there are some battles with our old natures that Christians are going to have to deal with until we get to heaven, Hammond’s teachings claim that such merely represents failed or incomplete spiritual deliverances, so we have to return to the deliverance ministers to do still more confessions of past sins in counseling sessions and then have still more nested interlocking demon groups buried and hiding deep inside of us, demons and demon groupings that the Holy Spirit gift of discernment failed to identify in previous sessions, out. That does appear to contradict this passage of Romans 7.

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Claiming that this passage does not refer to the striving of Christians against the flesh and the need of grace to overcome ignores scriptures that can be used to interpret this scripture such as Galatians 5:24-25 and 1 Peter 2:11. This doctrine makes it appear that Christian living should, save an intermittent battle or three with a demon or temptation, basically be strife and trouble free, and that any Christian who is not experiencing Hammond’s definition of “life more abundantly” is either demonized or still engaged in sin habits that need to be broken, is living under some “generational curse”, has some “demon of inheritance” or that needs to be discerned and broken, and so on.

These doctrines deny the fact that Christian life is supposed to be inherently trying and difficult … one of persecution, chastening and affliction, dying to self daily, carrying the cross or cross-life. It makes me wonder if Hammond or any of the others in his school has ever read Pilgrim’s Progress or anything similar. It also, in a style that anticipated the current Oprahesque style of modern Christianity, which allows a person to reject accountability. Where today a professed Christian who follows the New Agey Dr. Phil psychobabbleanalytical doctrines can simply blame parents, teachers, classmates, spouses, pastors, or any number of emotional or mental problems for their unBiblical behavior, the Hammond school allows a person to simply say “the devil made me do it” and profess a need for spiritual deliverance. Either way, you get to blame someone else rather than yourself, and in this way you deny your need for a Savior and for grace, because you avoid coming to grips with your true nature. Rather than seeing yourself as a wretched sinner badly in need of grace and the work of the cross to impute righteousness to you that you do not deserve and never will, you see yourself as this basically good and decent person against whom there is this grand conspiracy of evil spirits and rotten circumstances to keep the real you, an inherently good and virtuous person, from coming out.

Either way, it encourages you to hold onto an unBiblically inflated image of yourself and blame other entities – whether human, spiritual or institutional (as Hammond does speak of “prince demons” that control institutions, and claim that Christians should go into directed warfare against them to reclaim these institutions … there goes dominionism gospel of Eusebius and Constantine again!) – for your inability to live up to your own self image, which is an unBiblical delusion to begin with. Legitimate spiritual warfare and deliverance, indeed legitimate Christianity, is concerned with casting off this self – image delusion, which is part and parcel of the old man that needs to be cast off so that we may put on the new man (Colossians 3:10Ephesians 4:24). These doctrines make it appear that the difficult process of discipleship and Christian growth and maturity, as well as coming to grips with the nature of sin and meaning of grace, are unnecessary and unproductive, as it is far better to simply declare yourself and everyone else to be demonized.

Most seriously, the Hammond doctrines seem to reject or distort the doctrines of original sin, the effects of the fall. They seem to create a picture where man is basically good, and all he needs to do to recover his inherent goodness and virtue is choose Jesus Christ as his Savior. Having done that, any problems or defects are not due to the exceedingly true and vile cosmic and metaphysical nature of the fall and original sin, but instead an evil spirit that is soiling what should by nature be perfect. At the very least, it in effect claims that the result of Jesus Christ’s work on the cross should have been to make us practically sinless with no need to battle and struggle in this life. Either way, Hammond’s doctrines distort or misunderstand either what the Bible says about original sin or the workings of the grace. Thus, Frank Hammond would claim that Paul was a liar when he stated in scripture that God told Paul that His grace was sufficient for Paul to deal with his thorn in the flesh (2 Corinthians 12:6-9). Instead, Hammond’s doctrine would have us believe that Paul was simply demonized and that confessing his sins and being rid of the root of bitterness due to issues from his childhood that left all these doors open was the solution, nothing about this “for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” doctrine that does not fit into Hammond’s view of victorious abundant Christian living!

Another thing: it is amazing how legalistic and guilt inducing the Hammond method is. It would have you believing that your mind, spiritual makeup, etc. contains this innumerable vortex of labyrinths and doors. The labyrinths are these hidden chambers that can contain a demon or three that must be entered into – with the guide of the Holy Spirit gift of discernment and aided by detailed confessions in counseling sessions – to draw the demons out. The doors are sinful thoughts and actions by which a born again Blood of Jesus Christ washed Holy Spirit indwelt believer can allow a demon or demons in at any time. So, the pruning and chastening process, the battles and temptations with sin, and the need to overcome that the Bible states that all Christians must endure are attributed to some sin (often in the past) that a Christian failed to confess, someone that the Christian failed to forgive, some “spiritual door” that is allowing demons in that needs to be closed, etc.

And this is probably the worst practical part of it. The most powerful weapon that Christians have in overcoming temptation and battling the flesh is prayer. Well, Hammond explicitly tells us not to use it, and does so in the very opening pages of Pigs In The Parlor. Hammond states that spiritual warfare and deliverance is not prayer, that praying for God to help us and to overcome in our lives issues that Hammond alleges is due to demons is at best redundant and possibly ineffective. Hammond counsels us that when we pray for things, it is our asking God to grant us something that we do not have already. But, according to Hammond, as authority over evil spirits is something that we have already through Jesus Christ, why pray regarding these matters? Praying when confronted with these issues is a way of ignoring, rejecting, even DENYING the power and authority that Jesus Christ has given you! So … when dealing with what Hammond asserts is demonic activity – which again is either discerned with the appropriate Holy Spirit gifts, or discerned through other means by those lacking this gift using methods that Hammond provides – BY ALL MEANS DO NOT PRAY! (Unless, that is, a prayer for forgiveness of sin,  a prayer to forgive someone that you are holding a grudge against, a prayer to close a spiritual door that allowed the demon in, etc.) Instead, immediately go into spiritual warfare, start binding, loosing, rebuking, and casting out! (By the way, the actual meaning of “binding and loosing” given in the Matthew 16:19 and  Matthew 18:18 that spiritual deliverance ministers often refer to should be investigated … a great many Bible interpreters state that when looking at the context of the passages in which those verses appear, they refer to doctrines, particularly the authority of apostles to establish doctrines for the church, spiritual warfare and deliverance techniques.)

This I recall, for I was personally practicing it myself for several years. I related in  My Thorn In The Flesh how my mind is frequently assaulted by many manners of evil thoughts. I presumed this to be the work of evil spirits within and without myself, and for years applied the Hammond doctrines. I now realize that these are merely things that I have allowed to enter into my MIND as a result of all of the “entertainment” (movies, TV, music, novels etc.) in my life. Also, for years I refused to do precisely what I needed to about the problem – take it before throne of grace and cast it there in prayer – because these teachings told me not to! After all, praying, according to these doctrines, was weak, defeated Christian living … stuff for babies. (Well, maybe it is according to Matthew 18:3!) If I was to be a bold, strong, powerful spiritual warrior, a world changer on the front lines making a difference for Jesus Christ, I needed to just step out on faith and take dominion and authority over these evil spirits!

And so I did. It reached the point where it was practically automatic. Evil thought enters mind. Say “demon in the Name and by the power and Blood of Jesus Christ I bind and rebuke you and command me to leave and never return.” And so on, so on, so on … if you want to talk about “vain repetitions” then boy I was doing it. Also, so long as I was “binding, rebuking, and casting out” I had no need to humble myself, feel contrition or repentance, and beg God for help. Why? I was a spirit warrior world changer taking dominion, a spiritual He – man!

Now upon trying to discover and build “Christianity 101” these past months, I decided that just maybe I wasn’t as spiritually strong or powerful as I thought. So, I would leave the taking authority warfare to the stronger brothers and sisters, and I would resort to the milk of the weak babes, which was to PRAY. So, I battled and stopped the very many months – years in fact – of automatic “I rebuke and bind you in the …” conditioning … I really had gotten to the point where I did it on autopilot without thinking! … I would refrain myself from the “self – spiritual warfare and deliverance” and simply began to tell God that I was sorry for having or entertaining those evil thoughts and asked Him to forgive me and to shield me from those thoughts in the future. Now even before I received the response that I detailed in My Thorn In The Flesh, the results were much better … cleansing, strengthening, love, joy and PEACE where the “warfare” left me with guilt and conflict.

Now is this to say that I have never benefitted from spiritual warfare and deliverance? No. That is the main reason why I have not removed the materials from the site … my testimony is my testimony and it stands. However, though my testimony is part of my faith, it is the substance or entirety of my faith. My faith is Biblical, not experiental, and it is based on God, not on what happens to me. Had I never existed, God would still exist and His Word would still be true. So, when the time is right, I pray that God will lead me to doctrines on spiritual warfare and deliverance that are faithful to His Word and thereby honor and glorify Him

Sola Scriptura. Soli Deo Gloria. Solo Christo. Sola Gratia. Sola Fide. Any spiritual warfare and deliverance that does not conform to those is but doctrines of devils! Even so, come Lord Jesus!

New Age Witch Oprah Winfrey Interviews Demon

Posted by Job on October 10, 2008

There are not many degrees of separation between this and Todd Bentley. Come to think of it, there are not many degrees of separation between this and Christian seminaries that promote Jungian psychology like Fuller Theological Seminary!

EMERGENT CHURCH SPREADING SPIRITUAL CANCER

Posted by Job on August 21, 2008

By Forgotten Word Ministries

By Marsha WestApril 18, 2008

In the Sixties the counterculture rejected consumerism, individualism, traditional values and ideas, and protested against their parent’s middle class values. Thus began an all out assault on what had made America prosperous for two centuries.

Now a similar assault on historic orthodox Christianity is underway that’s gaining momentum. Some Christians believe a paradigm shift is taking place in the Church and as a consequence “everything must change.” This is anything but good news for Christendom, my friends. In a radio interview with Worldview Network’s Brannon Howse, Professor Peter Jones of Westminster Seminary warned listeners that the Christian theistic West has been turning back to pagan, pantheistic monism. Many in contemporary western culture now hold to a pantheistic belief in the unity of nature and God, of body and spirit — all is One.

Pantheism is a major tenet of the New Spirituality movement (NSM), once called the New Age movement. Other names used are Self-spirituality and Mind-body-spirit. The movement is largly eclectic with inspiration drawn from all the major world religions, which include Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Shamanism, Wicca, the metaphysical New Thought movement, and Neo-Paganism, to name a few. The goal of NSM is a shift in “planetary consciousness.” Their focus is not only on the West but also on the entire planet!

NSM is producing a movie to promote the new paradigm. In an article on Christian Worldview Weekend, Brannon Howse gives details: “New Spirituality gurus like Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson, alongside leftist environmentalists like Al Gore and religious figures such as Archbishop Desmond TuTu. Their message is the same, as though it was taken from the same script. ‘A massive worldwide phenomenon is in progress, offering seeds of great hope for the future…We aare in the middle of the biggest social transformation in history, THE SHIFT.'”

In order to move the West away from theism, the shifters must first reinvent biblical Christianity. Enter Oprah Winfrey. It would seem Oprah has been planning The Shift for many years. In 1987 she read the late Eric Butterworth’s book “Discover the Power Within You.” His book changed how Oprah looked at life and religion. She was convinced that Jesus didn’t come to teach us about His divinity, as the Bible teaches, but to teach us about our divinity! (Oprah’s code word is “Christ consciousness.”) She recommended Butterworth’s book to her audience and sales soon skyrocketed.

Who was Eric Butterworth? A theologian, lecturer and author who delivered the message of the Unity School of Christianity (part of the heretical Metaphysical movement) that “looks within” to find Christ. “Try telling someone in the Metaphysical movement…about the wages of sin…andand they will look at you as though you are an anachronism — a thrrowback to a less-enlightened age. The ideas of an enslaving sinful nature, of being alienated from God, and of God’s wrath are, to them, extremely offensive.” He considered sin ”self-inflicted nonsense.”

In 1987 Forbes magazine summarized Eric Butterworth’s message thus: ”We alone have the power within us to solve our problems, relieve our anxieties and pain, heal our illnesses, improve our golf game or get a promotion.”

But this article is not about Oprah’s spiritual poison, it’s about spiritual deception that’s spreading like cancer in Christendom. (More on Oprah’s latest attempt to indoctrinate the masses through the occult teaching “A Course in Miracles” in my next article.)

In John 8:31-32 Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

There is a growing movement afoot in the postmodern Church that does not abide in God’s Word; hence they do not know the truth. The movement calls itself “Emergent” or “Emerging Church” (ECM) and it’s emerging away from orthodox Christianity, spreading its spiritual cancer throughout the globe. ECM change agents have made inroads into evangelicalism, big time. What they preach is a counterfeit social gospel. They say they bring a “message of peace.” Their hope is to make Christianity more palatable to the world. Sounds altruistic, doesn’t it? But don’t believe it! In order to accomplish their lofty goal, the shifters must first repackage the Church.

So they’re touring the country, promoting their social gospel and message of peace to the masses. Prominent ECM leader Brian McLaren is spearheading the “Everything Must Change” tour. According to McLaren’s website the planet is in Deep Shift’
A time of transition
rethinking
re-imagining
and re-envisioning.

But really, it’s all about re-shaping the true Gospel of Jesus Christ into a false gospel and re-imaging Jesus Christ into the New Age Cosmic Christ!

McLaren created Deep Shift to provide spiritual guidance for organizations who are open to this. On the DeepShift.org website he states that he will work with leaders, “inviting them to discover where the gifts of their people and God’s purposes in the world meet. Deep Shift provides support as leaders make their own personal deep shift and guide their organizations through the transition and transformation necessary to ignite the loving energy of people to work for the good of the world. As guides, we provide coaching, consulting, and resources for people leading in deep shift — faith community and church leaders, nonprofit leaders, ethical business leaders and others.”

Maharishi McLaren’s re-imaging of the modern Church is on it’s way — whether evangelicals want re-imaging or not. The transformation, he boasts, “is for the good of the world.”

You may not have heard about The Shift yet, but you will – soon! Shifters, like pod people, are in our midst. Some of your friends and acquaintances could be shifters, only you don’t know it yet. Shifters have wormed their way into church leadership (pastors deacons, elders), worship services, Bible studies, Sunday school, seminaries, Christian schools, youth groups, camps. They lecture, write for Christian news sources and they’re all over the Internet. Now they’re touring the country. Many shifters are familiar faces on TV and have become media darlings. Browse through your local Christian bookstore and you’ll find their names lined up on shelves. Brian McLaren, Jim Wallis, Tony Campolo, Marcus Borg, Dallas Willard, Leonard Sweet, Erwin McManus, Phyllis Tickle, Rob Bell, Dan Kimball, Doug Pagitt, Tony Jones, Scot McKnight, Eddie Gibbs, Ryan Bolger, Jeff & Sherry Maddock, Peter Rollins, to name a few. Every one of them are theological liberals!

But shifters are offended when they’re labeled liberal. And besides, liberal is so yesterday! And let’s be honest here; liberal has a negative connotation, thanks largely to vociferous conservatives (Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Joseph Farah, James Dobson, Gary Bauer, Phyllis Schlafly, Brannon Howse, Don Wildmon, Matt Drudge, Melanie Morgan, Tony Perkins and Hugh Hewitt – whew!) who are on the front lines of the culture war exposing liberalism’s globalist, big-government, radical feminist, rabid environmentalist, pro-abortion, anti-gun, peace at any cost, gay rights, anything goes, sick twisted agenda. Balking at being called liberal, they hide behind the trendy term, “progressive.” Many “Progressive Christian” leaders are highly critical of the Christian Right and their role in politics. (See link 9 below)

ECM’s beginnings

In his article, “Understanding the Emergent Church” Walter Henenger says that while some of ECM’s leaders came of age in the “new paradigm” churches of the Sixties and Seventies, “the real starting point was the mid-1980s, when Gen X ministries began catering to youth culture. Often organized as churches-within-a-church, they adopted cutting-edge ministry methods but generally retained the structural DNA of their parent megachurches.” But in the late Nineties they came to realize that they had failed to connect with postmodern people. During a 1997 meeting of the Young Leaders Network, pastor Doug Pagitt turned the discussion to the subject of postmodernism. “Light bulbs appeared over heads around the room,” continues Henenger, “and postmodernism has been the organization’s focus ever since. The Young Leaders Network soon morphed into the Terra Nova Theological Project, which eventually became Emergent. Its leaders went from niche marketers of religious services to global heralds of a massive, irresistible paradigm shift. Heady stuff.”

A brief explanation of modernism and postmodernism is in order. In his article “Preaching to the Post/Modern Choir” Shane Lems offers this pithy definition:

“Modernism embraces definite truth, absolutes, foundations, rationalistic thinking, and certainty, while postmodernism embraces emotions, authenticity, community, tolerance, and denies unquestionable foundations. Modern preaching highlights the propositional, didactic, and intellectual while postmodern preaching stresses the narratival, communal, sensual, and authentic.”

What exactly is ECM?

Well for one thing Emergents believe that the monologue of the Christian Right is over and a new “conversation” (a term they prefer over movement) is “bringing together a wide range of committed Christians and those exploring the Christian faith in wonderful ways,” boasts Brian McLaren, “and many of us sense that God is at work among us. As would be expected, there have also been criticisms.” I must digress for a moment to pose a question to Pastor McLaren: If God is now at work in the postliberal ECM as its leaders contend, was God not at work in the movement to Reclaim America for Christ for several decades? Just thought I’d ask.

What is ECM’s mission?

According to Emergent leader, Tony Jones, “At a basic level, Emergent’s mission is no different from any other group of Christ-followers: we want to follow Christ and we want to help others follow Christ. Of course, where it gets tricky is when we start talking about what it looks like to follow Christ. All along, Emergent has been about the melding of theory/theology and praxis, and we want to promote fresh, creative, and imaginative thinking about each. It seems that many organizations get to emphasize one side over the other in the theory-praxis equation, but we really are going to struggle to keep both of those in an equal, reflective symbiosis. What does it mean to be the church? What does it mean to follow Christ? We want to serve as a catalyst for conversations that attempt to answer those two questions, and to bring together the most creative people we can find for those conversations. But, conversation alone leads to paralysis by analysis, which is why we have always made sure that conversations are led primarily by practitioners rather than theoreticians and consultants.” Huh?

ECM’s missional concern

Emergents are concerned about being missional in a postmodern world. “The word missional emphasizes a return to the church’s identity as existing for the world—tto be God’s stewards over creation, to be a light to the nations, to be witnesses of the inaugurated kingdom of God on earth.” In this regard Emergent leaders have been critical of evangelicalism. They believe evangelicals have not been effectively missional in a postmodern world. Naturally, many evangelicals find this view arrogant and self-righteous. Sadly, ECM’s arrogance has caused division between them and evangelicals.

What is the ECM protesting?

“Whatever the Emerging Movement is,” explains Scot McKnight, “it is clearly a protest movement. Sometimes it can appear to be cranky, but there is substance and there is focus in what the Emerging Movement is protesting. And, though sometimes the resolutions fall flat or fail to materialize or collapse into the unworkable, there are genuine resolutions being worked out. What is the Emerging Movement protesting? Let me count the ways,” quips McKnight. “That’s not an attempt to be funny,” he assures us, “there is a list of at least ten items the Emerging Movement is protesting, and most would agree that it has its finger on some hot buttons. And let it be said that its primary focus in protestation is the evangelical movement and, sometimes but not always, the mega-churches that so clearly define and set the tone for the evangelical movement.”

One hot button issue is abortion. Because they’re mostly liberals, many Emergents are pro-aborts. It pains me to do so, but I’ll let this go and move on.

Here’s the rundown on some of what ECM believes, from an article by Joseph Farah posted on WorldNetDaily.com:

Capital punishment is wrong, despite the clear, unequivocal biblical commandments to take life for life.

Most Christians are too war-like and are guilty of “not loving our enemies.”

Universal health care should be provided by government.

Poverty should be eliminated by the U.S. government, not just in the U.S., but throughout the world.

The minimum wage should be significantly increased.

The U.S. should sign the Kyoto Protocol as a step toward solving the phantom crisis of global warming.

The U.S. should pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan and address the real problem of terrorism by creating a Palestinian state and addressing the root cause – poverty.

We should make condoms available throughout the Third World to fight AIDS.

Farah lists more of ECM’s beliefs but I’ve got a lot of ground to cover, so I’ll move on. (In the article he exposes Red Letter Christians, a movement headed by Tony Campolo and Jim Wright who are trying to “seduce evangelical Christians into anti-biblical, socialist, tyrannical politics.”)

ECM is also about “rediscovering spirituality”

“Emerging church practitioners are happy to take elements of worship from a wide variety of historic traditions, including Anglicanism, Roman Catholicism, the Orthodox church, and Celtic Christianity. From these and other religious traditions emerging church groups take, adapt and blend various historic church practices including liturgy, prayer beads, icons, spiritual direction, and lectio divina.” In other words, whatever unbiblical practice floats your boat.

ECM’s Quaker influence

“The Religious Society of Friends…although not bornn from a conflict with modernism, has nonetheless influenced the emerging church movement through mystics such as Richard Foster. This influence is often seen in the mystical tendencies of emergent worship and devotion. Some emerging churches mirror the Quaker rejection of church hierarchy while valuing the sacred as a personal, subjective experience, others utilize their particular denominational structures for church leadership.”

Bringing God’s kingdom to earth

“To Brian McLaren,” says Pastor Gary Gilley, “the most prolific emergent writer, the ultimate goal of Jesus (and God) is the kingdom of God, brought to earth. Just how is the kingdom brought to earth? Through our good works. McLaren states, ‘I hope that they [his neighbors] and I will become better people, transformed by God’s Spirit, more pleasing to God, more of a blessing to the world so that God’s kingdom (which I seek, but cannot manipulate) comes on earth as in heaven (emphasis mine).'”

A new path

Many shifters, like Campolo and Wright, are hard-core leftists who are doing everything in their power to lead the Church down a new path, away from Sola Scriptura, into what Pastor Ken Silva calls the “emerging cult of the new liberal theology” and a “spiritual cancer.” Without Scripture, how is it possible to establish what is true about God? Oh, I know! To find answers you must get in touch with your “inner self” through meditation! To that end ECM leaders urge believers to embrace unbiblical contemplative prayer and other occult practices. (I addressed this topic in Christians are mixed-up…in mysticcism!

On the DeepShift.org website, Pastor McLaren points visitors to the new path:

“We hope this is a beginning for you to be on this new path, believing in Jesus in a new way, ready to act for change in your own life, in your community, the public and the world. We hope this is a beginning for you to connect with new people who are on this same path and journey for encouragement, support, relationship and depth.”

The part that bothers me the most is “believing in Jesus in a new way.” What does he mean? Could he be referring to the “Cosmic Christ?”

McLaren makes clear his intentions for 2008 on McLaren.com when he says, “Rather than accepting invitations in 2008, I’ll join a creative team of friends to develop and present about ten regional gatherings, half in the winter/spring and half in the fall. These gatherings will be called ‘Deep Shift 2008.”

McLaren’s mission? (My comments in brackets)

“DeepShift will call people to a deep shift in their thinking about [Jesus Christ], faith, church life, mission, ministry, art, justice, leadership, community, and worship. It will emphasize deep personal inner transformation [through contemplative prayer] integrated with deep organizational transition as well, in the context of the ‘Generous Orthodoxy’ I write and speak about.”

McLaren on hell and the cross

In a 2006 interview McLaren calls the doctrine of hell “false advertising for God.” “[T]his is one of the huge problems with the traditional understanding of hell, because if the Cross is in line with Jesus’ teaching, then I won’t say the only and I certainly won’t say … or even the primary or a primary meaning of the Cross … is that the Kingdom of God doesn’t come like the kingdoms of this world by inflicting violence and coercing people. But that the kingdom of God comes thru suffering and willing voluntary sacrifice right? But in an ironic way the doctrine of hell basically says no, that’s not really true. At the end God get’s his way thru coercion and violence and intimidation and uh domination just like every other kingdom does. The Cross isn’t the center then, the Cross is almost a distraction and false advertising for God.”

In my research I ran across a panel discussion on You Tube, “Let’s Talk Post-Modernism and the Emergent Church.” Here highly regarded orthodox theologians R.C. Sproul, Albert Mohler and Ravi Zacharias had a “conversation” about postmodernism, modernism, liberalism, and ECM.

The main thrust of ECM, the scholars say, is its rejection of modernism and its embrace of postmodernism. Why reject orthodoxy? Because the orthodoxy are absolutists. Absolutists want to reinsert categories of right and wrong, whereas postmodernists balk at doctrinal assertions. They gave as an example Brian McLaren’s position on homosexuality in a Time Magazine interview. Following is the excerpt from Time: “Frankly, many of us don’t know what we should think about homosexuality. We’ve heard all sides but no position has yet won our confidence so that we can say ‘it seems good to the Holy Spirit and us.’ That alienates us from both the liberals and conservatives who seem to know exactly what we should think.” So McLaren suggested a five-year moratorium on making pronouncements. And what will we do in the meantime? He went on to say, “[W]e’ll practice prayerful Christian dialogue, listening respectfully, disagreeing agreeably. When decisions need to be made, they’ll be admittedly provisional. We’ll keep our ears attuned to scholars in biblical studies, theology, ethics, psychology, genetics, sociology, and related fields. Then in five years, if we have clarity, we’ll speak; if not, we’ll set another five years for ongoing reflection.”

Um…the Bible says homosexuality is a sin, Brian. (Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, Rom. 1:26-28, 1 Cor. 6:9-10,)

McLaren’s wishy-washy comment on homosexuality obviously did not go over well with the panel. Near the end of the discussion Albert Mohler commented that his response to the homosexual question is the very essence of postmodernism. He then cautioned, “It is the abdication of Christian responsibility. It is the abdication of Christian conviction and it is a cave in of Christian courage. We do have an answer! And it’s not like we don’t know what it is!”

As R.C. Sproul said so well, ECM appeals to Christians “who don’t want to have to deal with theological conflict.” These same folks relativize doctrine, and that makes Sproul angry. He then points out that disagreeing doctrinally is a “bad thing.” Looking rather grim-faced he said, “We can’t be satisfied with it. Because truth is too important to kill it in the streets for the sake of peace! You can’t do it!” Bravo!

Ravi Zaccaris puzzled, “These men and women who were the progenitors of this [movement]…what brought this about? Are they bored with God?!” The problem, he explained, is “Non critical people listening to this stuff absorb it.” After reading McLaren’s books, Zaccaris wonders what he believes at present. “Maybe something on Monday, something else on Tuesday?” he said grimly. “He’s an anti-doctrinal individual. It’s pitiful to see something like this actually gain currency.”

The Emergent movement is most definitely gaining currency, especially with young people and those who are dissatisfied with mainline evangelicalism. Which is the reason it’s imperative that committed Christians take a deeper look into the “conversation.” Listen carefully to the language to see whether or not what a person purports is within the pale of orthodoxy. In other words, check to see if it’s biblical. Because if the “conversation” doesn’t line up with Scripture, it’s not from God. And if it’s not from God…it’s ffrom the pit of hell.

In another You Tube video I came across, Todd Wilken, host of Issues Etc., was interviewing Pastor and author John MacArthur on his response to ECM. MacArthur believes the problem is that Emergent leaders have a non-Christian attitude. Moreover, they have a “very worldly, carnal, unsanctified approach to the Bible.” With regard to truth, he made this comment: “Truth is everything, and the truth is contained in the Bible.” He also mentioned that progressives “do not accept the authority, inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible. They do not accept that everything in the Bible is absolutely true and that it is clear that it can be and must be understood and applied.” And the reason they reject it? According to MacArthur, “They don’t like a lot of the things it says.”

Scott Diekmann, a Christian apologist who believes “segments of the ‘Evangelical’ Church are in danger of compromising the Gospel at crucial points” wrote an 8-part article on ECM. In part 8 he states that part of the problem with Emergents is that “some have substituted the doctrines derived from the inerrant and inspired Word of God with a doctrine based on an uninspired melding of Scripture, experience, mysticism, and imagination. That lack of Scriptural fidelity has at times led to a redefined Gospel, a message that is predominantly Law rather than Gospel, and pastors who have failed to present the whole counsel of God.”

What this is really all about is truth. False teachers stare at Truth but fail to recognize the identity of truth. Jesus himself said, “I am truth.” Thus we know that Truth is an aspect of God Himself. Christianity is the only truth because it is anchored in the Person of Jesus Christ. Moreover, truth is crucial to a realistic worldview. Which is why committed Christians mustn’t buy into the lie that truth is a matter of preference or opinion. In case you haven’t notices, in our postmodern culture we are experiencing the death of truth – and the death of truth could mean the death of civilizzation! I wrote this down, but I don’t remember who said it. “Truth is true if no one believes it. A lie is a lie if everyone believes it.” And that’s the truth!

Before I wind this up, I want to stress that celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and “Progressive Christian” leaders are pressing a large number of believers into apostasy, even into rank heresy. This is a serious threat to the Church! The threat shouldn’t be taken lightly nor tolerated. So ECM and “New Spirituality” must be thoroughly understood and debunked. What’s more, committed Christians must expose shifters for what they are — occultists!  What are your thoughts on this article?

More thoughts from a reader:

Thank-you!  This message is not received very well by sadly so many
“unthinking” people that call themselves, Christians.  This is a very
sad day we live in.
Rob Bell boast he has over 2 million followers.  His church Marshill is
within a mile from my home.  His influence in the “church” at large is
strong and I think the whole problem with false teachers of the WORD is
when we change the Bible.  I think Satan got a strong footing when in
1973 the NIV was birthed.  Taking verses out completely.  You go from vs
46 to 48
How many people notice verse 47 missing just gone.  Then other verses
just part of them remain and worded ever so slightly.
It is soo sad.  The Today’s NIV, I have not looked at it but I can only
guess.  If peole like you and I.  People like Ravi, MacArture, Gilley,
thank the Lord for Mr Gilley. If we the Church of the Bible as written
upon eye witnesses and hearers of the LORD don’t do more than cry,  50
years of so when these great men and women of GOD and they have gone on
to heaven ,it won’t be Today’s NIV it will be even more in your face to
allow all kinds of thinking just as long as there is unity and peace.  I
pray people that profess CHRIST as in Orthodox faith would not use the
NIV in any shape or form.  To come out and denounce it and publically
state the reasons why.  GOD has said, “MY people are destroyed because
of lack of knowledge”
It breaks my heart to see so many in my area that are smitten with Mr
Bell and his books, his Nooma videos, ect.  They are following the man
because he comes across as promoting peace and anyone like myself that
believes the Bible as written are just hate mongers.
This very thing has had an effect on my personal family.  My
granddaughter is caught up with this group.   It includes Bill Hybels,
his daughter Shauna Niequist wrote Cool Tanerines,  may seem benign
enough but front flap, you see Brian McLarin’s endorsement and then on
back flap you see Shauna’s endorsement of Willowcreek Church and
Marshill.
Rick Warren I think is another yet he is so well embraced.  His book
Purpose Driven Life where he intentionally used 15 “versions” of the
Bible to bend it to his agenda.(see back of his book, list of versions)
He is very “ecumenical”
People that embrace the emergent thinking or the Redemptive Theology.
They are striving for “unity” at any price.  By changing the Bible this
allows them to demish what GOD has called sin.  They are “redeeming”
GOD’s WORD!   It is unbelieveable but this is what Satan does  best.
“surely GOD did not say”  I pray many people that love GOD’s Word will
join together bringing this in the open in each church, taking stand and
letting people know what kind of battle is really going on.  It is about
souls.
With the emergent church there is no need for an alter call.  It must be
related too to the ecumenical movement started in the 60’s…Doesn’t
matter what you think or embrace, all one big family so they believe.
My point is that if the Church that loves GOD’s word as written
originally don’t be more in everyone’s face about this “cancer”  when we
are dead and the young people have come up under this thinking I can’t
even imagine.  the people that embrace and promote this emerging church
are counting on us being dead.   Thank-you again for bring this out, I
pray many read your web.  I came across it by accident.
Shalom in Y’shua

The Error Of The Evangelical Manifesto

Posted by Job on May 15, 2008

The “Evangelical Manifesto.”   Last Wednesday, a group of prominent
Evangelicals released the “Evangelical Manifesto: A Declaration of
Evangelical Identity and Public Commitment.”  The Steering Committee
includes: Os Guinness; Timothy George, Dean, Beeson Divinity School, Samford
University; Rich Mouw, President, Fuller Theological Seminary; and Dallas
Willard, Professor of Philosophy, University of Southern California.  It has
been signed by apx. 80 “evangelical leaders,” though when a trained eye
looks through the list of signers, it becomes apparent what this document is
really all about.

For those who have been part of the Liveprayer family for a while, you might
remember me mentioning the gutless Dr.Mouw back in December of 2004, who
along with Ravi Zacharias, became pawns used by the Mormons to give them
mainstream credibility.  Here is an excerpt from that 12/07/04 Devotional:
“Mouw preceded Zacharias and amazingly apologized, yes, apologized to the
Mormon crowd of roughly 7,000 stating, ‘We evangelicals have sinned against
you. We have demonized you.’ Since when was exposing the false gospel of the
Mormon cult a sin? That is exactly what we are supposed to do! Also, the
last I checked, those who lead people’s souls into everlasting damnation are
demonic!”

First of all, let me state the obvious.  We already have an “Evangelical
Manifesto,” it is called THE BIBLE and it has the greatest author of all
time…GOD!  The real purpose of this document is to create a shift in power
regarding those who are seen as the Christian leaders of our day and those
who speak for the Christian community.  Many years ago, I had to make some
hard choices.  Do I build a giant ministry organization and preach to the
choir like the rest, putting my voice into the same mix as Falwell,
Robertson, Kennedy, Dobson, Graham, and the others, or follow God’s calling
as a true evangelist and reach out to the lost and hurting souls outside the
four walls of the church, and take on more of a prophetic ministry to reach
this lost world with God’s Truth.  I made the decision to pass on the
comfort, prominence, prestige, and financial security of building another
Christian organization, and chose instead  to give my life reaching the lost
and hurting with the hope of Jesus Christ.

That choice has given me the unique position of being free from the politics
of the “church,” and allowed me to not have to compromise the Truth of the
Bible to keep a “Christian business” going.  Like the prophets in the Old
Testament, I have been in the unique position few are in, to deal with the
issues of the day and in people’s lives without worrying about pleasing men,
only God.  My focus has never had to be about raising money for
infrastructure and operations, only for saving souls.  I have no other
agenda but God’s.  My goals aren’t earthly but heavenly.  My legacy won’t be
in buildings or the temporal things of this world that will one day soon be
gone, but the lives God has used me to impact and the eternal souls of men.

Many of those who put together and signed this document are for the most
part those who I have warned you about in recent years, this emerging group
known as the “Christian left.”  Prominent signers of this murky document are
people like Jim Wallis, founder of Sojourners, and Rick Warren, Pastor of
Saddleback and author of the Purpose Driven Life.  A major portion of this
document is spent repudiating Christians involved in politics, and seeks to
replace the fight for life, marriage, and family issues, with a focus on
world hunger, AIDs in Africa, and environmental issues.   It also lashes out
at those who have the audacity to go into the public arena and take a stand
for Christ based on the Truth of God’s Word.  The document says evangelicals
have often expressed “truth without love,” helping create a backlash against
religion during a “generation of culture warring.”  The fact is, we have
been intimidated into silence by those who represent satan!

This is the mindset fostered by the “seeker,” “emerging church,” and “church
growth” crowd that for the past 15 years have watered down the Gospel and
set aside the absolutes of the Bible to attract warm bodies.  What they have
done is created a new subculture of “Christians” who might be saved, but
live no different than the world and easily embrace the lies of the false
religions, cults, and New Age teachings that are leading the souls of men to
hell.  This is why you have people like Oprah who claim to be a Christian,
yet promote the lies of every New Age guru that comes down the path.  This
is why you have people like Sen. Barak Hussein Obama who claims to be a
Christian, yet votes continually to slaughter babies and redefine God’s Holy
Institution of Marriage.  This is why you have Christians who think people
in a satanic cult like the Mormons will go to Heaven.  This is why you have
people who call themselves “Christians,” but deny that the Bible is the only
Truth there is!

Add to this the prominence of pastors who are little more than motivational
speakers like Robert Schuller and Joel Osteen who go into the secular media
when they want to sell their latest book, and brag bout never talking about
sin or the social issues of our day and refuse to answer the most simple
question of the faith, whether Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved or not.  So
people read their books, watch their TV programs to “feel good” and become
part of this new subculture of “Christians” who have no concept of basic
theology and embrace lies like “there are many roads that lead to God.

Don’t believe me?  Here is a typical email we get daily:  “I’m a
Metaphysical Christian and a Human being a child of GOD. I was baptized at
Saddleback Church with Rick Warren.  There is a very powerful wonderful
movement of consciousness going on right now obviously the old way is not
working very well. Watch a few Videos on Esther Hicks etc GOD bless you
too!”  What a load of garbage.  Metaphysical Christian???  The “old way” is
not working very well?  The old way being the Bible?  Ester Hicks is one of
the more popular New Age teachers out there today.  I wish you could see the
feed back I get daily from the Daily Devotional, from the TV program, from
my appearances on FOX News, CNN, and from the videos we post on YouTube.
People who call themselves “Christians,” yet reject the Bible as the only
Truth there is, and embrace beliefs that are in complete contradiction to
what the Bible teaches.

How did this happen?  It started with the church.  Forty years ago the
mainline denominations brought in pastors who were from liberal seminaries
and denied the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible.  They quit preaching
the Gospel of Jesus Christ and opted for a social gospel instead.  At the
same time, you had this growing Christian subculture of Christian TV, radio,
and publishing, geared to and marketed to Christians.  Major ministries and
Christian organizations were birthed that generated tens of millions
annually, and for the most part did very little  but preach to the choir and
self perpetuate themselves from one year to the next.

Billions have been raised and squandered on the temporal things of this
world instead of on the work of God.  We have extracted ourselves from the
marketplace, and now not only have the better percentage of two full
generations who have never even been to church, but a new generation of
“Christians” who don’t believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of
God, representing Absolute Truth, and our final authority in all maters.  It
is no wonder our nation is in spiritual freefall and this world we live in
grows darker by the day.  Men of God in days gone by didn’t build great
organizations, they built up men and women to serve the Lord.  They only had
one book, the Bible, and one message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  They
never compromised the Truth of God’s Word and their only goal was to save
souls!

I love you and care about you so much.  While I agree with 90% of what is in
the “Evangelical Manifesto,” the other 10% makes it a document designed to
give more power and prominence to those in the Christian left,  replace
abortion, marriage, and family issues with issues like world hunger, poverty
and disease, and calls for Christians to be more friendly to non-Christians
by not talking about things like sin and hell in the public.  Just in case
you were wondering, they never contacted me about signing this document.
LOL!!!

I have been warning you for years now about this new and growing group who
make up the Christian left who are now fighting with the old guard on the
Christian right for power and to be the voice of Christians.  The Christian
left waters down the Gospel and lays aside the absolutes of the Bible in
order to attract warm bodies and advance their social agenda, while the
Christian right has been turned into little more than a very lucrative
business that generates hundreds of millions annually around various causes
and is more concerned with power and self preservation than getting actual
results.  This leaves Christians alone to deal with the hurts and pains of
every day life with a very thin foundation to their faith, while the vast
majority of people are living without hope and heading to hell when they
die.

However, there is a remnant, a faithful group of Believers who have not sold
out and whose sole goal is to serve the Lord and see God’s Kingdom advanced.
Praise God for those faithful pastors and ministries that only want to see
the work of the Gospel accomplished as they share the Truth of God’s Word
without compromise and labor to bring the lost to faith in Jesus Christ.
These are the last days my friend.  Jesus is coming at any moment.  There is
no time for playing games.  People are dying and heading to hell every
second.  The focus of all Believers in Jesus Christ has to be on bringing
lost souls to faith in our Lord.  We don’t need an “Evangelical Manifesto,”
we already have one and it is called THE BIBLE!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller bkeller@liveprayer.com

CNN Say Oprah Winfrey Good Christian Folk!

Posted by Job on April 22, 2008

It is amazing how CNN vehemently denounced all of Oprah Winfrey’s attackers in this matter, and absolutely refused to consider any opposing points of view. For some reason, allowing this woman to distort (and redefine?) Christianity unopposed is very important to these people! Click Here For The Three Step Salvation Plan!

Why Aren’t The Christian TV Stars That Went After The Da Vinci Code Going After Oprah Winfrey? MONEY!

Posted by Job on April 10, 2008

From Slice of Laodicea:

Why Are Big Media Ministries Giving Oprah a Free Pass?

Oprah now has over 2 million people taking her webcast with Eckhart Tolle. But a listener raises a question today that is long, long overdue.

In this day and age where all the ministry bigwigs jump on the latest bandwagon to warn Christians about deception and dangers in movies such as “The Da Vinci Code”, or perhaps promote movies to Christians like “Chronicles of Narnia”, why do they not see fit to warn us of Oprah?

I am baffled. I have written Moody Radio, and specifically Dr. Erwin Lutzer, and suggested that they quickly get their act together to help confused Christians who are dabbling in this New Age junk. Are they afraid of Oprah? I know she is also based in Chicago, but surely the town is big enough for 2 religions! I did a quick search of Oprahs name on www.Sermonaudio.com and on www.Oneplace.com looking for sermons tackling her new religion push- I found only 5 between the two sites. Perhaps they could be filed under other titles, or subject matter. So I don’t want to be too harsh. I consider this an urgent topic, as I am sure you do. The pews are filled with Christian women, sincere Christian women, who revere Oprah Winfrey- this is dangerous and the pastors that lead us in the media have a responsibility to address this phenomena, and quickly. They need to specifically say that what Oprah is teaching is wrong and they need to warn their flock. Where are these radio pastors on this topic? I have read great articles about this New Age movement on www.christianworldviewnetwork.com and have heard this discussed responsibly on Way of the Master Radio as well as on your site, but I think the big wigs of radio and ministry need to step up to the plate and support what as already been done by you and your peers. Again I am perplexed, and maybe I am just ignorant to what they have already done. Again I don’t want to be too harsh.

Any thoughts on this? Perhaps this may be addressed in an upcoming article? But I don’t want to add to your workload.

Thanks for all you do!

M.S.

I want to echo my reader’s question. National Religious Broadcasters represents 5 billion dollars worth of media assets. Yet how many are frontally taking on Oprah Winfrey and the poison she is broadcasting day after day? Where are all the national radio preachers and television programs at least issuing a warning? Why am I and a handful of others the only ones saying, “Wait a minute! This is blasphemous error and a virulent attack on King Jesus! Let’s stand up for our Savior and the truth.”

Please take time to email your favorite ministry that may not have addressed this issue of Oprah and her toxic New Spirituality. This is where the battle is being fought now. It’s not theory, it’s reality right in front of us and its affecting millions. Now is the time to be in prayer. Now is the time to stand up and be heard and to contend for the true faith. This issue gives true Christians a superb opportunity to articulate the Gospel to friends and neighbors and co-workers. We may be a small band, but is there not a cause? Don’t we serve the all powerful God? They may be the Goliath, but remember who won that battle.

If you haven’t already, consider joining me Saturday, noon Central time, for prayer about the New Spirituality, the church’s response, our children, and our churches today. We have so much to pray about.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

On Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s Apostate Pastor Jeremiah Wright

Posted by Job on March 17, 2008

*By Pastor Bill Keller of Live Prayer. By the way, it was Keller that tipped me off to the fact that Oprah Winfrey had been a member of this “church” months ago, although the Los Angeles Times now claims that she stopped going. Interesting that people are just now coming around to this “story” AFTER Barack HUSSEIN Obama has all but wrapped up the Democratic nomination, as I dealt with this over a year ago: Lots Of Good Stuff On Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s September 11th – Justifying Church. Ah well. As Howard University graduate Jeremiah Wright is a liberation theology preacher, please read my entry The True Liberation Theology. As far as those of you that wish to claim that I have political motives for posting this devotional or attacking Barack HUSSEIN Obama in general, allow me to say that I personally see no substantive difference between Obama, Clinton, or McCain, and my position is that a Christian should not vote for any of them. I ran across the other day where Martin Luther stated that it was better to be governed by a wise Turk (Muslim) than a foolish Christian. That seems to fit the writings of Paul in Romans 13, especially when you consider the context: Rome was hardly a Christian or godly empire in any sense, yet Paul wrote to submit to proper authorities because all authority comes from God. But Obama, Clinton, and McCain do not meet the standards of “wise Turk” (or wise anything for that matter, let alone decent, moral, honest, truthful, etc.) in my humble estimation. Maybe the Constitution or Libertarian. I cannot consider the Green Party nominee Ralph Nader for regrettably he is pro – abortion.
(Acts 17:26,27, Rom. 10:11-13)
What kind of pastor condones the sin of homosexuality, killing babies, and preaches a gospel of racial division? The pastor for 20 years and spiritual mentor of Democratic Presidential candidate B. Hussein Obama! I found it amusing the past few days that all of the news media is focusing on the racially divisive and anti-American rhetoric of Dr. Jeremiah Wright, who for over 3 decades was the Senior Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois. For those who have been reading the Daily Devotional and/or watching the Liveprayer television program, I have told you about Dr. Wright for many years now, since he pastors the church Oprah called home and Senator Obama has been part of for the past 2 decades.Dr. Wright not only married Senator Obama and his wife and christened their 2 children, but he has also been the spiritual mentor to the Senator and helped shape his theological beliefs. He has been prominent in the news the past few days because the public has been horrified after being exposed to his racist and anti-American views that he has espoused for over 30 years in his church.

In trying to do damage control Friday, Senator Obama ended any affiliation Dr. Wright had with his Presidential campaign and the Senator went on numerous news programs stating that he was not aware Dr. Wright held these views. B. Hussein Obama is a liar!

As many of you know, I started my ministry in the city of Chicago in 1992.
Two of the members of my Board of Directors who have been with me since day one, are both black pastors of churches on the south side of Chicago. I
have had the joy and privilege to preach in several dozen black churches in
the Chicagoland area in the early days of my ministry. Anyone who has had
ANY dealing with the churches in Chicago know who Dr. Jeremiah Wright is and that he preaches a gospel of black separatism with anti-American views.

In theological circles it is known as “black liberation theology,” a perverse theology originally taught by James Cone that seeks to contribute to the liberation of black people from the perceived racism in the country and in Christianity.

Please hear me very clear. Black liberation theology is a perverse view of the Scriptures and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a radical view held by a very small minority of black pastors. This is NOT representative of the black church or the overwhelming majority of black pastors who preach and teach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ without looking at it through the lens of color. Every black pastor I know condemns Dr. Wright and this perverse racist theology.

Sadly, to the non-churched masses and to white Americans who have little or no exposure to the black church, seeing and hearing Dr. Wright’s radical views of the world and the Scriptures, will cause them to assume this is the position held by all black churches. (My note: some black people in their zeal to defend Obama are stating precisely that.) Again, Dr. Wright is in a very small minority of pastors who hold to these perverted views and this is NOT representative of the black church or Christians who happen to be black.

Having said that, let me reiterate that B. Hussein Obama is a liar when he says he was not aware of these beliefs held by his pastor. That is impossible since everyone in Chicago knows about Dr. Wright and his radical and racially divisive theology. His teachings attracted many young, upwardly mobile, successful blacks who agree with his views on race and social issues. They joined his church not only for the spiritual experience,
but for the networking opportunities it provided. (My note: sadly, making them no different from most Christians regardless of race or theology.)

It was the perfect church home for Senator Obama, who had no Christian background or Biblical upbringing, and was a rising star in the Daley political machine in Chicago, It was the perfect church home and message for Senator Obama who was dealing with the social and economic challenges of blacks on the south side of Chicago early in his political career.

The United Church of Christ is a predominantly white and very liberal denomination that supports and condones sins like homosexuality and women killing their babies.
Like many liberal denominations, it focuses on the
“social gospel,” dealing with the economically poor rather than the spiritually poor. (My note: although the Bible tells us to deal with the economically poor as well, it is both not either or, do not turn aside from God’s commandments to the right or to the left!) These types of churches focus on the financially down and out and needy, using the parts of the Bible that speak to helping those who are less fortunate, while brushing over the passages that speak to living a life holy and acceptable to God in accordance with His Word. This is where Senator Obama comes up with the laughable notion that the Sermon on the Mount teaches homosexuality is an acceptable choice as he recently stated in the news. In his bid for the White House, B. Hussein Obama has received great support from those in the gay and lesbian community since he will champion their desire to make gay marriage legal in all 50 states and to break down all barriers to gay adoption, as well as other issues favorable to giving those who choose to commit the sin of homosexuality special rights.Senator Obama also supports the legalizes slaughter of babies. He has been 100% consistent in his political career both in the Illinois Senate and the United States Senate, to support the legalized practice of infanticide. I wonder how he can go home at night, look at his two precious little girls, yet vote to support the legalized murder of babies. Again, this is all in line with the liberal theology and social gospel teachings of his pastor and church for the past 20 years.

I say that any “pastor” and any “church” that supports slaughtering babies should never be referred to with those names. How can you call yourself a pastor, how can a church call itself a church, how can a person honestly call themselves a follower of Jesus Christ, and support a woman making the decision to kill her baby? That is inconsistent with the teachings of Christ and the Bible, and even most hard hearted heathens who deny the existence of God understands that it is murder!

I love you and care about you so much. My guess is that Senator Obama will soon leave Trinity UCC to appease his political detractors. The fact is, he is 20 years too late. He, like ALL who are part of that church and most who are not part of Trinity, knew of the perverse theology and racist, anti-American views of Dr. Jeremiah Wright. This is not revelation to anyone in Chicago. I have told you about Dr. Wright and that church for
many years now.

Senator Obama has to make the same decision we all have to make. It was Jesus who said you can’t serve two masters. Is our master Jesus or do we serve another master? If Jesus is his master, Senator Obama needs to denounce the sin of homosexuality and take a stand for life. If politics is his master, he will continue to support these sins.

At some point, each person has to decide if you love Jesus or if you love this world. We make that decision many times throughout the day when we choose to obey God or disobey Him. If we say we love the Lord, we will obey Him. If we say we love the Lord and disobey Him, we obviously don’t love Him enough since it was Jesus who said, “If you love Me, you will obey Me.” I pray today that Senator Obama will love Jesus enough to obey Him, and I pray that you and I will love Him enough to obey Him.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller bkeller@liveprayer.com

Cory Booker: Oprah Winfrey’s Backup Plan In Case Barack HUSSEIN Obama Fails

Posted by Job on March 16, 2008

Which means that he is actually the backup plan of whoever is behind Oprah Winfrey (the Council on Foreign Relations)! Now there are two interesting anecdotes about the race between Booker and his entrenched corrupt incompetent opponent Sharpe James in 2002.

1) His opponent defeated him by claiming that he wasn’t black enough, by sending police officers to harass Booker’s supporters and even close down their businesses, and claiming that Booker was homosexual.

2) At the time, Booker was supported by the local and national Republican Party as the pro – big business candidate. The Republican Party leadership of New Jersey endorsed him and gave him significant financial support, and the national neoconservative magazines talked up his candidacy and encouraged people to send him contributions. There was actually this minor racial controversy where black supporters of Sharpe James physically confronted the white female daughter of a high ranking New Jersey Republican official because she was on the streets campaigning for Booker, and ripped the things that she was holding pertaining to Booker out of her hands. The neoconservatives claimed that by virtue of his elite college education and pro – business approach, Booker was part of the new breed of black leaders that would save the black community. Oh yes, I almost forgot: CORY BOOKER SUPPORTS SCHOOL VOUCHERS! (By the way, the new governor of New York, David Paterson, also supports school vouchers).

Keep in mind: Booker’s loss in that 2002 mayor’s race was portrayed as a huge setback to BOTH the NEOCONSERVATIVE cause AND the cause of the “postracial progressive liberals”, the old Gary Hart crowd, that now backs Obama. It is said that the primary flaw of the old Gary Hart coalition (which includes George McGovern and Bill Bradley) was their inability to attract black voters. Well, their recruiting Barack HUSSEIN Obama – and people like him including but not limited to Booker – took care of that, didn’t it? Further, former Gary Hart trainee Martin O’Malley recognized this weakness and went to Baltimore, where he ultimately became mayor of that city and now governor of Maryland.

But as much progress as the Gary Hart crowd is now making, it is difficult to imagine their doing so without complicity from the GOP. Neoconservatives gave Obama rapturous praise exceeding that given to Obama by the DEMOCRATS based on his DNC speech in 2002 back when the fellow was a candidate that they were SUPPOSED to be trying to beat in a key Senate race in a vital state! Had the GOP begun tarring Obama as just another black Chicago Democrat back then (or basically … at any point since then) there is NO WAY the guy would be the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination right now.

And consider John McCain.  The primary reason why he is the GOP nominee is because of the almost unqualified praise that he has received from THE LEFT since 2000. The very people who were SUPPOSED to be trying to BEAT John McCain are the very ones who basically REFUSE to talk about certain things in the fellow’s background that voters should care about. Just like these same people refused to report George W. Bush’s long history of supporting abortion rights. It is amazing that the New York Times give a little space on their page suggesting that blacks would vote for John McCain if Obama did not win the nomination (an idea that I first heard floated on the Atlanta black political talk radi station using the logic that it would be OK to use John McCain, “a moderate Republican that wasn’t really that bad”, to pay back the Democrats). How many blacks would feel this way if they knew about McCain’s race – baiting Goldwater wannabe days?

Folks, we really are reaching a situation not unlike the ending of the George Orwell book “Animal Farm.” Put the neoconservatives and the neoliberals in the same room, and you increasingly cannot tell one from the other. And as a final shot: Muslim congressman Keith Ellison, former Million Man March organizer and Farrakhan supporter before joining “mainstream Islam”? He is part of the same Gary Hart “progressive” coalition as Obama. See his progressive states network Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htPE_VCxP1M

REV. OPRAH WINFREY IS A SPIRITUAL CRACK DEALER!

***SEE BILL KELLER’S APPEARANCE ON NEIL CAVUTO’S FOX NEWS CHANNEL PROGRAM FROM FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 29TH: liveprayer.com/fox022908.cfm

***MOST PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE SHELTER OF THE FOUR WALLS OF THEIR CHURCHES HAVE NO CLUE HOW BAD IT IS IN THE MARKETPLACE.  SADLY, I HAVE FOUND TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE SO WRAPPED UP IN THEIR OWN LIVES THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE MASSES GOING TO HELL EACH DAY.  EVEN WORSE ARE MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD WHO SHOULD CARE, BUT OBVIOUSLY DON’T SINCE THEY SPEND THEIR TIME PREACHING TO THE CHOIR SO THEY CAN SELL THEIR BOOKS, FILL UP THEIR EVENTS, AND GENERATE
MORE MONEY.  WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS, THERE WILL BE YOUR HEART.  I CAN’T TELL YOU HOW MUCH HEAT I HAVE TAKEN OVER THE YEARS FOR GOING IN THE NATIONAL MEDIA TO EXPOSE OPRAH FOR WHAT SHE IS ,  A GREEDY WOMAN MAKING MILLIONS SELLING PEOPLE THE “SPIRITUAL CRACK” OF THE DAY.  READ A TYPICAL EMAIL I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING AND MAYBE YOU WILL UNDERSTAND MY PASSION!

“Dear Mr.  Keller, I am responding to your recent comments on the Fox News Network
regarding your opinion that Oprah is the “most dangerous woman in the
world.”  I am a “Course in Miracles” student for some time now, a student of
the “We are All One” philosophy.  I was born and raised a Christian, but
have in the past several years found much strength and faith in the belief
that we are all from the same God.  I am puzzled regarding your comments,
since I am of the belief that one need not be a Christian to get to heaven.
It appears that your strong public opinions create more divisiveness on this
troubled planet at a time when we need to become more united…that is all
humanity, everywhere, united in LOVE with the same God.  I have found in my
exploration of spirituality that I have gained much more peace than I ever
found in my Christian based religion.”

Oprah is selling “spiritual crack” and leading millions of souls to hell!
After finding great success pushing the New Age agenda over the years on her
TV program, New Age witch Oprah Winfrey is now clearly committing her vast
resources to lead millions of unsuspecting souls to hell selling them the
“spiritual crack” of the day, New Age teachings.  Just like crack, these
false teachings make people feel good for a moment but lead them on a path
of destruction.

Earlier this year, Oprah began teaching a year-long course on her XM
Satellite radio channel, “A Course in Miracles.”  A Course in Miracles is
allegedly “new revelation” from “Jesus” to help humanity work through these troubled times.
This “Jesus”-who bears no doctrinal resemblance to the Bible’s Jesus Christ-began delivering his channeled teachings in 1965 to a Columbia University Professor of Medical Psychology by the name of Helen Schucman. (My note: this is eerily similar to Frank Peretti’s character Juleen Langstrat of “This Present Darkness.)

Her latest venture in New Age teachings will be a 10 week seminar over the
Internet beginning tonight when Oprah and best selling New Age author
Eckhart Tolle will be teaching from his new book, “A New Earth, Awakening
Your Life’s Purpose.”  Over 1 million people have already signed up for this
10 week web cast that will lead them away from Biblical Truth and faith in
Jesus Christ through Tolle’s perverted spiritual teachings.
 I have told you
for years this is the most dangerous woman on earth, and she is clearly now
being used as a tool of satan to lead millions of souls to hell with these
false teachings she is promoting, while making millions of dollars doing it!

For the nearly 9 years Liveprayer has been around, I have continually
exposed this New Age false-hope merchant and warned people of how dangerous
she is. If Oprah Winfrey was simply another Hollywood entertainer I could
care less about her. What makes her so dangerous is that while her program
normally deals with the same subject matter the raunchy Jerry Springer
program does, Oprah also deals with the very real day-to-day issues of life
and uses her nationally-syndicated television program to tell people how to
live. The authority she speaks from? Herself, OPRAH WINFREY!

We are living in a time where the better percentage of two full generations
don’t go to church. People still hit those difficult places in life and at
those moments they are looking for help and for hope. Sadly, the Christian
leaders of our day have abandoned the marketplace and secular television for
the safety and prosperity of the “Christian trough.” In so doing, they have
left the lost and hurting masses looking for a savior, someone to come along
and help them through the difficult moments of life, tell them how to live,
and give them hope. To fill this void in people’s spiritual lives, along
comes Oprah!

People defend her by saying she is not a theologian or a preacher, she is a
talk-show host and entertainer. I agree. However, that is not how she
portrays herself or positions herself. She has eagerly cashed in to the tune
of over $1 BILLION DOLLARS on being the spiritual guru to over 49 million
people a week! The authority she speaks from is what she has determined
truth to be, her views on right and wrong, her values and morals, as opposed
to the only Truth and authority there is…God’s Word!

Lest you think I have overstated my case and have been wrong all these
years, please take a moment to read some quotes from a recent article in the
USA Today on “the Divine Miss Winfrey.”

“Over the past year, Winfrey, 52, has emerged as a spiritual leader for the
new millennium, a moral voice of authority for the nation.”

“With her television pulpit and the sheer power of her persona, she has
encouraged and steered audiences (mostly women) in all matters, from
genocide in Rwanda to suburban spouse swapping to finding the absolute best
T-shirt and oatmeal cookie.”

” ‘She’s a really hip and materialistic Mother Teresa,’ says Kathryn Lofton,
a professor at Reed College in Portland, Ore., who has written two papers
analyzing the religious aspects of Winfrey. ‘Oprah has emerged as a symbolic
figurehead of spirituality.’ ”

” ‘She’s a moral monitor, using herself as the template against which she
measures the decency of a nation,’ Lofton says.”

“With 49 million viewers each week in the USA and more in the 122 other
countries to which the show is distributed, Winfrey reaches more people in a
TV day than most preachers can hope to reach in a lifetime of sermons.”

“In a November poll conducted at Beliefnet.com, a site that looks at how
religions and spirituality intersect with popular culture, 33% of 6,600
respondents said Winfrey has had “a more profound impact” on their spiritual
lives than their clergypersons.”

“Winfrey called her talk show her ‘ministry.’ ”

“Marcia Nelson says that it’s not going too far to call her a spiritual
leader. ‘I’ve said to a number of people – she’s today’s Billy Graham.’ ”

” ‘Our culture is changing,’ he says, ‘as churches are in decline and the
bulk of a new generation is growing up outside of religion.’ Instead,
they’re turning to the Church of Oprah.” (Note: an episode of the TV Show Futurama predicted that Oprahism would replace Christianity.)

” ‘People who have no religion relate to her,’ Nelson says.”

It is clearly established that Oprah Wiinfrey views herself as some sort of
spiritual leader, and based on the 49 million viewers of her TV program, you
can laugh at that notion but can’t ignore the fact she has an incredible
amount of influence over tens of millions of lives. Let me be clear. The
danger of Oprah Winfrey is that like any cult leader, her version of the
truth and her final authority are not from God but from herself! It has been
clearly documented from transcripts that Oprah Winfrey may use the name of
“God,” and very rarely “Jesus,” and use many “Christian” expressions, but so
does the Mormon cult! While she was raised in the Baptist church, she has
been a long-time member (though rarely attends) of a very liberal church in
Chicago that mixes Christian faith with New Age spirituality, that also
happens to be the church of B. Hussein Obama.

Because she has never been married, choosing instead of live for decades
outside the bonds of God’s Holy Institution with a man who is not her
husband, Oprah has a jaundiced view on this most sacred bond between a man
and woman. (In truth, Oprah Winfrey is a radical feminist that views marriage as oppressive to women, and hints at such from time to time on her show, especially during a particularly grotesque episode where she distorted the words of her mother by claiming that she wanted her daughter to get married and go through a lifestyle of sexual submissiveness to her husband, which incidentally was not what the woman was actually saying it and Oprah knew it; Oprah just chose to humiliate this woman on national TV merely because the woman wanted her promiscuous daughter to get married and restrict her sexual behavior to marriage. So Winfrey is actually worse than Keller is depicting here. I still remember the episode where Winfrey attempted to similarly humiliate Kirk Franklin and his wife – who never should have went on her show in the first place – but Franklin was smart enough not to give her an opening.) Oprah embraces the New Age philosophy that there are “many roads that lead to God,” a lie from the pits of hell itself. On her program she promotes and endorses cults like Scientology, Kaballah, those who speak to the dead, psychics, and people of ANY “spirituality.” There is only ONE GOD, the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to promote the false gods of this world makes Oprah an enemy of God!

As for the social issues, Oprah condones and supports those who choose to
engage in the sin of homosexuality. Oprah is on the record supporting a
“woman’s right to choose,” code for slaughtering innocent babies. While she
gives lip service to being pro-family, Oprah’s definition of the family is
whatever men want it to be, not what God says it is! Again, the truth Oprah
espouses comes from her own imagination, not from the only authority and
source of Truth there is, the Bible. By going against God’s Word on the key
social issues of our day makes Oprah an enemy of God.

I could go on, but there is no reason to. Simply denying the Bible as the
only Truth there is, God as the one and only God there is, and faith in
Jesus Chris as the one and ONLY WAY to be saved, makes this woman dangerous
and a false prophet in every sense of the word. What makes a person a false
prophet is that they lead you AWAY from God, Biblical Truth and Jesus
Christ. Sadly, those who follow this false prophet, this merchant of false
hope, put their eternal souls in peril. That is why I have warned people for
years about her and will continue to.

I love you and care about you so much. I know all the Oprah disciples who
spend hundreds of dollars to go hear her preach the “gospel of Oprah” at her
seminars, buy her books and magazine, watch her faithfully every day, hang
on her every word, will run to her defense by pointing out all the good she
does. I don’t doubt for a second that Oprah uses some of her billions to
help others. That is not the issue. The Mormon cult feeds the hungry,
clothes the naked, and visits the prisoners, yet they are still lost and
going to hell for rejecting Jesus Christ. The Mafia gives millions to
worthwhile causes that help those in need, but that doesn’t make them good
people. God’s Word teaches you can’t buy your way into heaven!

So what is the answer to Rev. Oprah? She is locked in. One of the most
powerful women in the entertainment business. She is not going away and now
that she is at least being honest about her “spiritual guru” status, will
become even bolder in trying to position herself as the spiritual leader of
the nation. By the way, this is EXACTLY how the anti-Christ will rise to
power and the one-world religion will come to be. A charismatic figure who
can control the masses and fill their spiritual needs by feeding them a
perverse theology that makes them feel good for the moment.

The answer is to take on Oprah just like Elijah took on the prophets of
Baal, head-on! In the end, the TRUTH will always win out over the lie. False
hope will always give way to true hope. The false prophet will always be
exposed when confronted by a true prophet of God. I have told you many times
that what we are dealing with is a battle for the souls of men. This is why
I am so passionate about the Liveprayer television program being on
worldwide. It will be a beacon of light in the darkness of this world for
Biblical Truth and lead people to the only answer there is..Jesus Christ!

The reality is, for nearly 5 years now, night after night I have done on the
Liveprayer television program what Oprah does on her program. Deal with the
pressing issues of the day, reach out to people who are hurting, and give
them answers for their life. The difference? I let them know that I can’t
help them and I am not their answer, Jesus is! I deal with the issues of the
day not from a worldly perspective but a Biblical one! The answers for the
hurting I share are not from my imagination but from God’s Word! The truth I
share is not my truth, it is God’s Truth! The hope I give people is not a
false hope, but the ONLY hope there is…JESUS CHRIST!

(Sadly, many high profile Christians will go on Oprah’s program and rather
than confront her and challenge the false theology she espouses, say nothing
so they can sell whatever book they are pushing. David had no fear in taking
on Goliath on his own turf. David was a shepherd, not a great man of war
like Goliath. I have no fear in taking on Oprah on her own turf. I am an
evangelist, not a great television and entertainment celebrity like Oprah.
David didn’t need the fancy armor of Saul, only a few pebbles. I don’t need
fancy buildings and studios, only a few pebbles and that is why I am asking
you at this time to help me. Supply me with the pebbles I need and our God
will do the rest!)

The world has always had false prophets, merchants of false hope. Oprah, her
creation “Dr. Phil,” Montel, and B. HUssein Obama, are simply some of the
more notable ones of our day. I expose them for who they are, talk about
them, because they are leading people AWAY from the only Truth there is and
AWAY from the only hope there is. Pray for Oprah today. The fact is, Oprah
could become a powerful woman of God if she would humble herself before the
Almighty, get on her knees and confess Jesus Christ as Lord, and stop
preaching the gospel of Oprah but the Gospel of Jesus Christ, stop selling
people “spiritual crack,” but give them the Truth of God’s Word!!!

Oprah Winfrey’s Course In Miracles Is New Age Spiritism!

Posted by Job on January 9, 2008

2 Peter 2:1, Matthew 24:23-27, Matthew 7:15,16, 2 Timothy 4:3,4

Three lives who influence millions each day. For the last 6 years I have
warned you about 3 different people whose lives influence millions of
people. Amazingly, all 3 of those people are hot in the news today. I wish
I had the thousands of emails I have received over the years from people who
have given me so much grief for simply sharing the truth about these people,
since I have been right about them all along. The purpose today is not to
gloat or say “I told you so,” but to reiterate the warning I have shared
often that those who lead people AWAY from God and His Truth are most
dangerous of all, no matter how rich and popular they may be or how much the
media glorifies them. There is only ONE TRUTH, the Bible, and there is only
ONE HOPE, Jesus!

I began warning people about Britney Spears 7 years ago when she became this
mega pop superstar, shedding her wholesome Mickey Mouse Club image for that
of a stripper singing about sex and rebellion, causing millions of young
girls to want to be just like her. It has been sad to watch her life
continue to spiral downward over the years as she has battled with drugs,
alcohol, and failed marriages, all the result of a life being lived in
complete rebellion to God. Her most recent meltdown, a drug-induced
standoff with police after locking herself in a bathroom with one of her
children because she didn’t want to give them back to their father, landed
her in the psych ward of an LA hospital. Even as her life has slowly
deteriorated over the years, she still has millions of fans and continues to
influence the lives of those who want to be like her.

Another highly influential person I have been warning people about since he
appeared on the scene is Oprah’s creation Dr. Phil. Oprah owns his program
and is the only reason anyone even knows who Dr. Phil is. My concern about
Phil McGraw has always been two-fold. First, the counsel he gives on his
program is NOT Biblical, but the pop-psycho babble of the world. He has
taken stands against God’s Word on issues like sex, marriage and sins like
homosexuality in order to appeal to the masses. His program is not about
helping people but exploiting them for ratings. Again, the danger of Dr.
Phil lies in the fact he is not only leading people AWAY from Biblical
Truth, but millions are tuning in to his program each day looking for
answers and only getting a Band-aid of worldly advice.

The second major concern I have with Dr. Phil is that he claims to be a
Christian. Only God knows his heart, but he routinely goes on Christian
networks and programs to tap into that audience, saying many of the right
things when he appears in those venues, yet continuing to dispense advice in
contradiction to the Bible on his program. Biblically illiterate church
goers are conned by his charisma, and he has built up over the years a huge
following of non-discerning Christians who have bought into the gospel of
Dr. Phil.

If you ever needed an example of what a sick, manipulative, and exploitive
person Dr. Phil is, you need look no further than his involvement in Britney
Spears’ recent meltdown. Just like he has interjected himself in the lives
of other high profile celebrities and cases, people like entertainment
reporter Pat O’Brian who had a recent battle with drugs and alcohol and
Natalie Holloway’s family to name a couple, Dr. Phil raced to “intervene” in
Britney’s case supposedly at the behest of her parents.

I was encouraged, however, when I found out that Britney made the best
choice she has made in many years when she refused to allow Dr. Phil to see
her in the hospital. For context, he will be having Britney’s parents on
his program this week. With one daughter in full meltdown, another 16 and
pregnant, these are parents who really could use some Godly counsel, but
sadly, will only get the typical exploitive advice geared to boost ratings.
How sick to use such a real life tragedy for ratings!

As a side note, Thomas Nelson publishers which was recently sold to a
secular concern, is scheduled to release a book by Britney’s mother on
parenting. Of all the moms walking this planet to be writing about
parenting, the mother of Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears is probably the worst
choice for such a book.

The third person is the most dangerous woman on the planet due to her money
and influence, Oprah. One of my many quotes about Oprah over the years that
the secular press has hammered me on was when I called her a “New Age
witch.” I won’t be holding my breath for their apologies, but that is
EXACTLY what she is, even more so now that on her XM Satellite Radio program
this year there will be a year-long study on the New Age “A Course in
Miracles.”

This course was created by a Jewish atheistic psychologist from Columbia
University who began to write down a 1,000 pages of messages from a spirit
she believed to be Jesus. (My note: Frank Peretti fans will recognize how similar this is to Juleen Langstrat in “This Present Darkness!) As she wrote, she says, the words “This is a course in miracles” appeared. The course promises to “provide a way in
which some people will be able to find their own Internal Teacher,” in other
words, their personal ‘Spirit Guide.'”

The conclusion of the course is: don’t worry about your conduct, since
there is no such thing as sin, believe what you want to believe there is no
absolute truth, it doesn’t matter whether you follow Buddha, Krishna, or
Jesus as your enlightened leader, don’t worry about hell, there is no
punishment, and that salvation comes from yourself. Just like on her TV
program where she gives a forum to every New Age philosophy and cult known
to man, promoting garbage like “The Secret,” it is Oprah once again setting
herself out as the spiritual guru to the nation with her own brand of New
Age lies from the pits of hell.

Of course, she would NEVER have the guts to have someone like myself on her
program who would clearly lay out the fact there is only ONE Truth, the
Bible, and only ONE way to be saved, faith in Jesus Christ, since that would
strip her of her powers to dictate to people what truth is. Because of her
worldwide fame, billions of dollars, and power within the entertainment
community, Oprah is without a doubt the most dangerous woman on this planet
today and the closest thing there is to the anti-Christ!

I love you and care about you so much. You would not believe the number of
lives people like Britney, even in her current state, Dr. Phil, and Oprah
influence. All 3 of these people are dangerous because they are leading
people AWAY from Christ and Biblical Truth. Please take a few minutes today
and pray for Britney. She doesn’t need the exploitive Dr. Phil to intervene
in her life, but a solid man or woman of God who isn’t looking for the
cameras, only the opportunity to help lead this troubled soul to the only
hope and answer she has, Jesus! Pray for Dr. Phil. If he truly is saved,
he needs to start putting Christ before the fame and fortune of this world
and start using his visibility to bring people God’s Truth and letting
people know Christ is the ONLY hope now and for all eternity. Also pray for
Oprah. I still believe that if she got saved and sold out for Christ, she
could become one of the most powerful vessels ever to bring Christ to this
world.

I will be praying for you today. It is so easy to get caught up following
those we see in the media and gravitate to their thoughts and ideas. Never
forget, there is only one truth. It is not what we want it to be or what
someone else says it is, it is what GOD SAYS IT IS IN HIS WORD! That is
what must guide our lives each day. I will pray that you measure all you
see and hear from anyone, even those men and women who represent the Lord,
against the Truth of the Bible. Our lives can be influenced by many
different people. My word for you today is to take a moment and really
think about who is influencing your life today. Make sure it is someone who
is following the Lord and influencing you to follow God’s Word and to serve
and honor Christ with your life each day!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller bkeller@liveprayer.com

Homosexual Choir Director Of Barack Obama And Oprah Winfrey Church Murdered And Gay Rights Activists Attempt To Exploit It!

Posted by Job on December 27, 2007

His name was Donald Young, and he was 47. Local black homosexual activists are noting that another gay man was killed within the past several weeks and are demanding that attention be brought to their murders, suggesting that homosexuals are being targeted in hate crimes. Of course, heterosexual black men that get murdered in Chicago and virtually everywhere else all the time have no one to advocate for justice in their cases and as a result are largely ignored. But the “homosexuals being targeted in hate crimes” angle is already breaking down. Robbery appears to the the motive in the case of Young while the mother of the other dead man, Larry Bland, states that he was likely a victim in a crime of passion. This reminds me of these same black gay rights activists claiming that the murders of four black Delaware State University students in Newark this summer was a hate crime merely because at least one of the victims was homosexual. They continued to press this angle even after it came out that the criminal in the case chose his victims at random and did not know anything about them.

While actual hate crimes against homosexuals do occur, and the Bible does declare both hatred and violence to be just as sinful as is homosexuality, these folks have no interest in punishing those that commit hate crimes against homosexuals and preventing more from occurring in the future. Instead, they are attempting to use the media and ultimately the political and legal process to push their agenda. The fact is that there is no evidence of an increase in violent crimes against homosexuals, and there certainly is no evidence that such crimes are organized in any fashion. There is no basis to claim that “black gay men are being targeted because of their lifestyle” to the media every time that a gay black man is murdered or assaulted.

Incidentally, this tactic is precisely the opposite of the general way that civil rights and other liberal leaders demand that the media treats black victims of crime. From the 1970s to the early 1980s, black leaders demanded that the media and the police show extra attention to the crime and other problems in the black neighborhoods using the logic that because of racism the lives and plight of black people were not valued and their stories were being ignored. At the time, the thought was that doing so would create public sympathy and an added incentive for the largely liberal leadership at the time to spend more on social programs.

That was then. After the “Reagan revolution”, however, black leaders saw how successfully the GOP was using race – baiting Willie Horton tactics to create or play upon mostly irrational and unfounded fears in white voters to win elections (yes, I have seen the crime statistics and they state that a white person is far more likely to be injured in a car accident than by a black criminal) so the black left demanded that the media stop covering the so – called “black on black crime” on the grounds that it was creating racist stereotypes of black men. Pretty soon, such folks actually began to claim that blacks were committing crimes because the news media portrayed them as criminals!

Well now, we have come full circle. Please realize that just as it has been fully accepted in the media and academia that homosexuality is genetic (the bothersome fact that anything resembling a “gay gene” has never been found and researchers admit, when pressed, that it never will be) it has similarly been established that AIDS is spread not primarily through sexual intercourse and drug needles but rather because of homophobia. So when it became time to finally deal with the fact that the black community has a much higher rate of AIDS infections than the white one, the accepted explanation became “the black community is SOOOO much more homophobic than the white one.” Again, not a shred of evidence, not even any of the sham opinion polls or sociological studies that purports to be a sort of evidence in these days, has been produced to demonstrate this. But since we cannot attribute AIDS to, you know, people having sex, even the fact that the AIDS plague in the black community correlates to A) the teen pregnancy and illegitimacy rates and B) the other sexually transmitted diseases is not allowed to be spoken of.

Of course, the black people that are responsible for this (nonexistent) tidal wave of homophobia in the black community are not the black homosexuals themselves, but rather the black HETEROSEXUALS that are blamed for the bigotry. (And to think that one of the main goals of the black power/civil rights movements was to prevent one group of blacks from being set against another. Ah well, as stated earlier, that was then. I bet that Andrew Sullivan, Matt Drudge, David Brock, and other such white conservative homosexuals view homosexual blacks choosing their lifestyle over their race as representing some sort of progress.) And since we are talking about VIOLENT CRIME HERE … well there you have it. The black gay rights activists are using the same Willie Horton racist stereotypes of criminally violent heterosexual black men to make their “black gays are being targeted in a wave of homophobic hate crimes” story believable despite the fact that it is clearly not true.

Ultimately, we should not be surprised. I should point out that I personally left the “conservative” camp, but the dirty little secret of the left has always been how they are willing to demagogue and demonize black males when it suits their interests. The most effective at doing it – and they are NEVER held accountable – are feminists, who have been using black males as their foils ever since Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Staton, and similar went about letting people know what an outrage it was that black males could vote but white females could not. The 19th Amendment would have passed eventually, but the race – baiting sped that process up by several decades. And of course you had Margaret Sanger, whose racist views (appreciated by none other than Adolph Hitler) and her “what if your daughter were raped by a black man?” propaganda was vital to creating the climate that led to Roe v. Wade. (Keep in mind that Ronald Reagan himself signed the nation’s most liberal abortion law as governor of California during a time when everyone was absolutely convinced that angry criminal blacks from Compton, Watts, South Central, etc. were going to take over the whole state with Tom Bradley as their leader.)

A more recent manifestation of this was the welfare reform debates of the 1980s and 1990s. Books like “The Women of Brewster Place”, “The Color Purple”, “Beloved”, “Waiting To Exhale”, etc. did not just all of a sudden become all the rage for critics and academia out of nowhere and for no reason, but rather to press the case that black women and children needed Great Society programs to protect them from black men. Ironically the latter backfired, convincing the very moderate white voters that they were trying to influence that tough on crime measures and welfare reform was the way to help black women and children! Yet they went to the well one last time in the early years of the Bush administration in their attempts to stop Wade F. Horn’s “pro – marriage initiatives” by not so subtly suggesting that the result would be the government financially pressuring women to marry black men that would beat them and molest their children.

So the black gay rights groups are merely using to their advantage what other groups have successfully used in the past. And why not? If it works, why change? It is not as if homosexuals have any vested interests in the fates of HETEROSEXUAL black males anyway.  Truthfully black homosexuals share no more of a common interests with black heterosexuals than do feminists, and there is no reason to pretend otherwise.

The Great Debaters: Never Trust Oprah Winfrey!

Posted by Job on December 25, 2007

Let me preface this by saying that I have nothing against Denzel Washington or Forest Whitaker, having no evidence that either has willfully set himself against Jesus Christ and His work. Oprah Winfrey, however, is another matter.

Did you know that Denzel Washington’s wife drops by Trinity Broadcasting Network’s “Praise The Lord” show for an appearance every now and then? Recall that when Denzel Washington said “God is great, God is good” in his Oscar acceptance speech that honored his playing an adulterous drug dealing murdering corrupt police officer so depraved that he was willing to exchange the life of his son for his own.

Remember the Denzel Washinton – Whitney Houston film of a few years back “The Preacher’s Wife”, a remake of “The Bishop’s Wife”? Over two hours long without a single mention of Jesus Christ (not surprising since it was directed by liberal Jew Penny Marsall of Laverne and Shirley) and had nothing whatsoever to do with Christianity in any fashion, unless your image of Christianity is an angel of God lusting after a married woman (who herself was more than willing to commit adultery with him if given the opportunity) and the ridiculous notion that it is perfectly fine for a minister’s wife and choir director of a church to sing in nightclubs (without bothering to evangelize anyone while there). Oh, but all was not lost … the movie DID take great pains to make a powerful brave spiritual moral stand against the great evil posed to mankind’s fallen nature by … smoking tobacco. Hollywood. You have to love it!

Anyway, I was already predisposed to oppose “The Great Debaters” because of its marketing campaign. The movie opens on Christmas Day, has a black gospel choir singing in the background, and the voice – over goes “come see a movie about the triumph of the human spirit.” Excellent way of using Christian traditions and elements to promote a movie that has nothing to do with Jesus Christ.

Still, I decided that it would be worthwhile to track the reviews of this film and see how they deal with the subject matter. That led me to Rupert Murdoch’s racist trash sheet the New York Post (speaking of Rupert Murdoch trash, Fox News had an hourlong “Christmas with Rick Warren” special on the other day), who tends to praise worthy black projects and people as some sort of superficial cover to the fact that they regularly bait the passions of the very sort of racists that kept late – term abortion supporting fascist (and leading Republican presidential contender) Rudy Giuliani in power for eight years to inflict the sort of brutal terror tactics on poor black neighborhoods that would have never been tolerated for five minutes in, say, the upscale party districts known for their wild parties where the cocaine and ecstasy flow freely.

This is what the New York Post has to say about the central character played by Denzel Washington in Oprah Winfrey’s “triumph of the human spirit“:

The vaguely roguish Melvin Tolson, who is very possibly a Communist, is also trying to organize migrant farm workers into a union. It’s this activity – which gets short shrift in an overlong movie – that’s actually more interesting than the rather dry debating sequences.

Tolson’s organizing gets him thrown into cracker sheriff John Heard’s jail at one point, and the atheist scholar is freed through a demonstration organized by soft-spoken but powerful theologian James B. Farmer Sr., played by Forest Whitaker in his best performance in many years.

So we have now reached the point where we open movies celebrating God – hating atheist communists on Christmas Day. So now you see precisely what “human spirit” the commercial of this movie was speaking of while the black gospel choir was providing the background accompaniment. Whatever this “human spirit” might be, it certainly is not the Holy Spirit, and as such those who go after it and deal with it can keep it to themselves.

As to whether one should go see this movie, which if the information that I have read about it can be trusted seems to have legitimate entertainment value and contains useful information (such as the black college debate team in 1935 Texas encountering a lynching on the way to a competition) I will leave that to people more qualified than myself (starting with those that have actually seen the movie) to judge and comment on.
