The Law of Life in Christ Romans 8:2

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

BIBLE MEDITATION: “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: I’ve always found airplane flight amazing. They are so heavy, yet they fly! The pilot gets behind the controls, moves the throttle and those great engines begin to roar, and the first thing you know you’re flying. Has the law of gravity been canceled? No, but there’s another law that comes into effect called the law of aerodynamics, which is greater than the law of gravity. When you get right with God, the law of sin and death is still there, but there’s a new law. It’s the law of life in Christ Jesus that sets you free from the law of sin and death. As long as you abide in Jesus Christ, then you are free from the law of sin and death.

ACTION POINT: Have you been set free? Then it’s your turn to set another captive free with the Good News. Go out and share this free gift with someone today.  share devotional with a friend    visit lwf.org

Faithful in Little and Much Luke 16:10

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.” Luke 16:10

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: What would you do if you had a million dollars? Well, let me tell you a good test of what you would do — it’s what you’re doing with that hundred dollars you have right now. Are you saving it? Spending it? Sharing it? The test of what you would do in the spiritual realm is seen by what you do in the physical realm. Many of us do not have spiritual blessings because we simply haven’t been faithful with the small things in our lives.

ACTION POINT: Are you hoping for something in your life? How could you be faithful in something little so that you’ll be faithful when the other comes along? share devotional with a friend     visit lwf.org

I Am A Sinner Lord Please Be Merciful to Me! Psalm 85:7

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “Show us Thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us Thy salvation.” Psalm 85:7

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: There’s a story about a lady who went to a photographer to have her picture made. When she saw it, she didn’t like it. She took it back and told the photographer, “You’ll have to take this over.” He asked, “What’s wrong with it?” She said, “It doesn’t do me justice.” He looked at it and looked at her and said, “Lady, you don’t need justice; what you need is mercy.” God is just, but we need mercy. If you have never come to place where you have seen yourself as a sinner lost before Almighty God and cried out to Him for mercy, then you’ve never been saved.

ACTION POINT: You may have joined a church, but have you thrown yourself on the mercy of the court? Have you said, “Lord God be merciful to me, a sinner?”  share devotional with a friend    visit lwf.org

Casting Our Burdens at His Feet Psalm 55:22

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: I read about a man who had a very fine dog who loved the water. One day the dog was playing in the lake, and the man decided to leave. He called the dog, but the dog wouldn’t come. He called him several times; still he wouldn’t come. It was a well-trained dog, but he just would not come. The man finally threw a stick out in the water. When the dog saw it, he swam over, got the stick, and came back and laid it at his master’s feet. It just may be that God has given you a burden because He can’t get your attention. He wants you to come and lay it at your Master’s feet.

ACTION POINT: Is your heart aching today? Cast your burden at His feet and allow His peace to fill your heart.  share devotional with a friend visit lwf.org

Are You Allowing Your Child To Be Corrupted By Entertainment? Proverbs 22:6

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: The most dangerous thing on television today in my estimation is the sitcom. Do you know what they’re doing? They’re getting you to laugh at sin. In fact, a Christian television and film writer attended a producers workshop one day. One of the keynote speakers was one of TV’s most successful producers of sitcoms. In his address, he stated that in order to have a commercially successful production, the characters in a sitcom must violate at least three of the Ten Commandments. How tragic, but what an opportunity for people like you and me to take a stand for the truth and for the glory of God in the film and television industry.

ACTION POINT: Pray Joshua 1:7 for those Christians who are in the television and movie industries — that they will be strong and courageous. share devotional with a friend visit lwf.org

Liberation Theology: True Freedom Is In Jesus Christ! Romans 6:22

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” Romans 6:22

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: When Jesus Christ comes into your life He changes you. Maybe you have a problem with drugs or alcohol. Maybe you struggle with lust, fear, doubt, or self-pity. Maybe you’re a slave to public opinion or perfectionism. But I want to tell you that the Jesus Christ who set Adrian Rogers free is the Jesus Christ who will set you free. However, our freedom in Jesus Christ isn’t the privilege to do what we want. Instead it is the glorious, abundant, supernatural power to do what we ought. It is saving grace that sets us free. It is sustaining grace that keeps us free.

ACTION POINT: Bow before the Lord and thank Him for the freedom you’ve been given through the great price of Calvary.  share devotional with a friend     visit lwf.org

Love Your Wife As Jesus Christ Loved The Church Ephesians 5:25

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it.” Ephesians 5:25

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: A little boy was looking through the family picture album, and he came to a picture of his mother when she was a young lady. It was taken just after his parents had gotten married. The boy asked his father, “Is that when Mother came to work for us?” Does this ring true in your home? Let me set the record straight. The husband, if he loves his wife as Christ loves the church, is going to love his wife sacrificially. He is going to love her in such a way that he would be willing to lay down his life for her. He’s going to protect her. He’s going to provide for her. He’s going to do what he can to present his wife and family as holy vessels for the Lord’s use.

ACTION POINT: Are you married? Then how are you doing on the sacrificial quotient of giving to your spouse? If you had to, would you be willing to lay down your life for your spouse?  share devotional with a friend    visit lwf.org

Peace Through the Blood of The Cross

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “… having made peace through the blood of His cross.” Colossians 1:20

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: How can a cross bring peace if Jesus is the One hanging there? At the cross, wickedness was not appeased. Wickedness was confronted. At the cross, sin was not overlooked. At the cross, sin was atoned and paid for. God’s greatest righteousness confronted man’s greatest wickedness, and righteousness won and peace was attained through the blood of the cross. Thank God for the cross! Thank God for Jesus!

ACTION POINT: During this time of year, as you celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord, take a few moments to praise Jesus for the power and hope you have because of His resurrection.   share devotional with a friend    visit lwf.org

Death Where Is Thy Sting?

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION:  “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”
1 Corinthians 15:55

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:   Harry Houdini was an escape artist. They tried all kinds of ways to keep Harry Houdini locked up. They would bury him in a coffin, but he would get out. They would sew him up in canvas bags and throw him in the river, but he would come out. His biographer said, “He could escape from anything except your memory.” Yet there came a day when Harry Houdini died, and he did not escape — no trickery there. Harry Houdini did not escape the iron-clad clutches of death, but I want to tell you there was another who died. His name was Jesus, and He made the great escape. Jesus came out of that grave, and He arose. Praise God, Jesus is alive!

ACTION POINT:  Who in your circle of friends doesn’t know Jesus? Pray for them right now — that they would hear the Good News, repent and believe upon Jesus as Lord and Savior. share devotional with a friend  visit lwf.org

Romans 10:9 Jesus as Lord and Savior

Posted by Job on March 12, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Have you ever thought that salvation was like a cafeteria where you can pick and choose the aspects of Jesus you want. “I’ll have a little Saviorhood, please, but no Lordship.” If Jesus is not your Lord, Jesus is not your Savior. What’s the difference? Well, suppose I perform a wedding ceremony and say to the young man, “Would you take Mary to be your lawfully wedded wife?” and he responds, “Well, I’ll take Mary as housekeeper.” Then I say to her, “Would you take John to be your lawfully wedded husband?” and she says, “Well, I’ll take him as provider.” Friend, we can’t pick and choose what we want from Jesus. We simply take Jesus as Lord over all!

ACTION POINT: Is Jesus Christ Lord of every area of your life? Take time to today to examine your life — your finances, your relationships, your hopes and dreams. share devotional with a friend visit lwf.org

Ephesians 4:32 God Keeps the Score

Posted by Job on March 8, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION: “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: I read something that deeply touched my heart about a PGA golfer named DiVensenzo. As he was leaving a golf course with his winnings, a woman approached him and said, “I have a baby who is dying.” Moved with compassion, he endorsed the check and gave it to her saying, “Take this, and try to buy some happiness for yourself and your child.” A week later, he was in the clubhouse having lunch, and one of the PGA officials came up to him and said, “Did you know that the woman who approached you last week didn’t have a baby dying of an incurable disease!” And DiVensenzo said, “There’s no baby dying? That’s the best news I’ve heard all week!” What an attitude!

ACTION POINT: Do you ever feel like people are going to take advantage of you? Be thankful today that God keeps the score.   share devotional with a friend         visit lwf.org

What Is the Victorious Life? Isaiah 41:10

Posted by Job on March 6, 2008

Listen Watch

BIBLE MEDITATION:  “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:  So many people want to know what the victorious life is, but let me first tell you what it is not. It is not a life without ever committing a sin. It is not a life without ever having any failure. It is not a life without ever having any doubt. It is not a life without ever having discouragement. Instead, the victorious life is the life of bringing our failures to the Lord Jesus and allowing Him to give us a brand new start. Day after day I tell the Lord that I need a new start, that I need to be anointed with fresh oil today, and that I need forgiveness. I thank God that He is a God of grace, a God of glory, and a God of a second chance. You’re probably more prepared to serve God after failure and restoration, than perhaps at any other time in your life.

ACTION POINT:
Have you recently failed at something? There is no better time than right now to ask for His forgiveness (if you have unconfessed sin) and ask Him to give you a new start. share devotional with a friend    visit lwf.org
