Why The “We Need Female Leaders In The Church Because There Aren’t Enough Good Men” Is Just An Excuse For Rebellion And Sin

Posted by Job on August 17, 2010

Now, we have “evangelical feminists” on the move, demanding that the Biblical mandate for God-given roles to the sexes be discarded in favor of the current worldly fascination with the sort of social androgyny (the idea that there is no difference between the sexes that need to be respected) that homosexual Vaughn Walker used in his homosexual marriage advocacy from the bench. Further, in their pursuit of what is clearly an anti-Biblical agenda, they are employing the same rhetoric of the secular humanists feminists before them – as they are cut from the same cloth despite their evangelical pretensions – in claiming that Christians who support Biblical roles for males and females are contributing to spousal abuse, rape and child molestation. Of course, the recent explosion of such issues is due to society’s embrace of such notions as feminism and rejection of Biblical authority, not their fidelity to it. (I suppose that these evangelical feminists are going to claim that the early church, including the apostles who produced the New Testament, was this repository of child molesters and rapists. When you consider their outright rejection of inerrancy and Biblical authority in this matter, one would not be surprised if this is precisely what this group believes. Like the homosexual “Christians”, “evangelical feminists” ignore that these Bible interpretations have been handed down since the early church and are not the invention of a relatively recent group of bigots. Calling contemporary Christians misogynistic, homophobic child rapists for refusing to adhere to their current worldly interpretations means judging those who received the faith directly from Jesus Christ and His apostles as the same. But since honest theology and church history is not on their side, they resort to name-calling and appeals to the same body of “science” as is Freudian psychology and evolution that is used to justify homosexuality and a host of other abominations against one’s own body and other people.)

It seems that one of the more effective excuses to justify female church leadership – one that is gaining traction outside the Pentecostal and liberal theological circles that have long advocated for women pastors and leaders – is the shortage of suitable male leaders for the church. I do not deny the possibility that there is indeed a shortage of the number and type of male leaders required to staff our current ecclesiastical structure. However, the solution to that is to A) question if our (denominationally-driven) ecclesiastical structure is Biblical in the first place and B) realize that the abandonment of Biblical manhood and womanhood and a resulting environment of spiritual confusion and immaturity is a cause of this problem rather than the solution. Therefore, the way to have strong male leaders for the church going forward is for men and women to return to what the Bible commands rather than to use the spiritual condition of the contemporary church as an excuse to abandon it. Instead of looking for an excuse to justify sin and rebellion, we need to seek courage from the Holy Spirit to strengthen us to be faithful in this time of spiritual difficulty.

With that in mind, on my thread “Regarding Women Preachers: I Am Now Convinced That It Is Wrong” a Christian woman named Elsie made the following comment:

Paul says “I do not permit women to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” I agree with the word of God, but I see here that Paul says “I do not permit”, he did not say “God does not permit”.
I believe that only men have the authority to be pastors and leaders in the congregation. But I also believe that in some instances God has raised a woman to prophecy and to be a judge, etc.. When God chose these women to do a specific work, these women where humble women, godly women. I see in these days a lot of disharmony in the church with many women ministring. I don’t think they where called by God. One of the things that astonishes me is how these women dress when they stand in the pulpit. How can a man visit such congregation and stay connected with “the word” when this woman is dressed in a provocative way? There is nothing humble about that and there is nohing holy about that either. We have to be watchful and careful that we do not provoque others to fall.

I will allow her comment and my response below to serve as a rejoinder to those who might be deceived by evangelical feminism, including the argument “We need female leaders in the church because there aren’t enough good male leaders:

““I do not permit women to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” I agree with the word of God, but I see here that Paul says “I do not permit”, he did not say “God does not permit”.”When Paul was saying “I do not permit”, he was speaking from the position of authority as an apostle of Jesus Christ. So, what an apostle permitted or denied was based on revelation from Jesus Christ, and therefore binding to the church. That was the real meaning of the oft-misunderstood “binding and loosing” passages of Matthew 16:19 and Matthew 18:18, which is that the apostles, being appointed by Jesus Christ and received the revelation directly from Jesus Christ, had the right to establish doctrines and practices for the early church and those thereafter. This is not to say that Paul was divine in any sense, only that he spoke in the Name of God just as did an Old Testament prophet. When Paul was giving an opinion that he didn’t want to be considered binding, he said so in verses like 1 Corinthians 7:6 when he gave his opinion that it is better not to marry. Please note that in another place (1 Titus 4:3) Paul called forbidding to marry a devil’s doctrine.

“But I also believe that in some instances God has raised a woman to prophecy and to be a judge, etc..”

That is clear. God also raises up female deacons. The issue is the offices [that the Bible restricts women from holding] of pastor and teacher, not of evangelist, prophet or deacon.

… the Bible clearly lays out the role of elder spiritually gifted women in the church, which is to instruct younger women in faith and practice and to tend to the moral and spiritual development of children. In these times Christian woman have despised the role intended and laid out by God for them in order to seek the roles that God has set aside for men. You can see the negative effects on young women and children that result from this neglect. Ironically, the confusion in the church that results in the neglect of young women and children (as confused young women and children today become the very confused people who wind up leading churches 30 years down the line) is what is used as an excuse to justify female pastors.

For instance, a lot of people claim that there should be women leaders because there aren’t enough suitable male leaders, and they use Deborah in the time of the Judges as their proof-text. What they ignore is that the lack of suitable male leaders is precisely because of the refusal of elder women to instruct young mothers and of young mothers to instruct young women. And the proof-text of this is not only that of the kings in Israel (meaning that the kings who had righteous mothers who followed the Lord themselves followed the Lord, but the kings who had wicked mothers turned away from the Lord, and this was the case regardless of the spiritual condition of the father … a godly king and a rotten queen would produce rotten a rotten kid inheriting the throne, but a rotten king and a godly queen would produce a good child who would go on to become king) but also that Deborah herself had to rule because of Israel’s spiritual apostasy, their turning against God, at the time.

So, it speaks volumes that the women who use the lack of suitable male leaders as an excuse to be pastors and teachers are perfectly willing to personally profit from the dire straits that the church is in. That makes you nothing but a spiritual scalawag or carpetbagger. (If you are not from the American South, look the terms up … they mean someone who exploits a great tragedy for personal gain.) The proper response for Christian women to the lack of good male leaders in this generation is to adhere to what the Bible says regarding instructing younger women and children so that the next generation will have strong male leaders for the church. And this is precisely what the God-fearing queens of Israel who were married to evil husbands did. They did not attempt coups against their husbands so that they could rule righteously in their husband’s stead. (Consider that the only female usurper of the throne of Israel was the Baal worshiper Athaliah.) Instead, they raised their sons to know and fear God so that righteous rule would return in the next generation. The righteous queens of Israel knew the merits of adhering to God’s plan instead of following after their own human designs. Christian women chasing feminism idolatry would do well to follow their example. This is ever so more the case of Pentecostal women for whom female pastors is commonly accepted, as Pentecostals are known for their particular emphasis on Old Testament types and examples.

So, if righteous Old Testament queens operating without the benefit of the full revelation of Jesus Christ were able and willing to do what was necessary to produce godly kings for Old Testament Israel, how much more should New Testament Christian women who have the full revelation of Jesus Christ be expected to do so? Those who reject the Bible on this issue in order to follow a corrupt and fallen worldly mindset are without excuse.

The Southern Baptist Convention’s Lifeway Bookstores Is Right: Gospel Today Magazine IS Promoting Women Pastors!

Posted by Job on September 19, 2008

Gospel Today magazine pulled from Christian bookstores’ shelves

Now do not go overboard in your praise of Lifeway, for they also carry the heresies of not only Rick Warren, but also oneness pentecostal prosperity doctrine word of faith T.D. Jakes. But in this matter, Lifeway is 100% correct. Gospel Today made their decision easy by telegraphing the fact that they are obviously promoting being conformed to the ways of this world rather than following scripture with this quote:

“It’s really kind of sad when you have people like [Gov.] Sarah Palin and [Sen.] Hillary Clinton providing encouragement and being role models for women around the world that we have such a divergent opinion about women who are able to be leaders in the church,” Hairston said. “I was pretty shocked.”

Not only is this worldliness, but it is deception and dishonesty, flat out lying with the willful intent to confuse, mislead, and deceive Christians. Hairston well knows that the Bible only withholds from women positions of leadership over men, including pastorates, in the church and in the home. Outside of the church and home, a woman can hold any position that she wants: CEO, president, lawyer, doctor, you name it. And the Bible practices what it preaches, for Lydia of Thyatira of Acts was an entrepreneur/businesswoman who opened her house to the very New Testament writer whom the Holy Spirit inspired to restrict women from pastorates, apostle Paul. Lydia is credited with founding one of the apostolic churches in her home and therefore played a key role in bringing the gospel to a new area, but she was not a pastor. If these people are willing to throw away what the Bible says on women pastors to follow Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin today, what other confusion and disobedience will they cast aside the Bible in order to follow tomorrow? Hillary Clinton’s embrace of universalism and abortion? Or what about Sarah Palin’s refusal to denounce the sin of homosexuality, claiming that she has “diversity in her family”, thereby implying that being homosexual is no different from being Native American like her own husband and children? The same Palin who can proclaim that God’s will is being advanced by our invading Iraq and her seeking federal money to build an oil pipeline in her state says that she is unqualified to discern and judge what the Bible plainly says about homosexuality? And we are still looking for the snipers that were shooting at Hillary Clinton in Bosnia, aren’t we? And these are the people that Gospel Today wants you to cast aside your Bibles for and follow? It is becoming ever easier to determine in this day and age who is loving Jesus Christ by keeping His commandments (John 14:15)  and who isn’t. In many cases all that is required is to open your eyes.

Muslim Feminist Melissa Robinson Equates Honor Killings With Wives Submitting To Husbands

Posted by Job on July 12, 2008

See this “column” from the worst newspaper in the country, the Atlanta Journal – Constitution. In order to defend her false religion and the culture that it comes from, does she claim that similar things happen in Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, and Judaism? Nope. She only goes after Christians, especially Baptists.

As a co-founder of the American Islamic Fellowship, an Atlanta-area organization of more than 200 Muslims, I can tell you that our organization does not subscribe to any interpretation of Islam that condones murder in the name of religion or honor. To me and our membership, this is an abhorrent expression of misogynistic thinking that targets women as the guardians of a community’s honor.

It has come from the mouths of Christian saints, Italian philosophers, American revolutionaries, French existentialists, Baptist preachers, modern historians, European scientists, English poets and Muslim imams, just to name a few:

“It is still Eve the temptress that we must beware of in every woman.”

“It is said in the state of adultery, the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time on the woman. Why? Because she possesses the weapon of enticement.”

“A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband.”

Who said which comment? The first came from St. Augustine, the second from an imam in Australia and the third from a Baptist preacher.

This evil liar – which is precisely what she is – wants to claim that the Christian doctrine of wives submitting to husbands leads to honor killings or the cultural suppression of women. It doesn’t. Also, when interpreted correctly, it is obvious that a woman’s submission in Christianity should only be to her own husband. A Christian woman SHOULD NOT submit to just any fellow on the street. That IS NOT the way that it is in Islamic cultures, where ALL WOMEN must be demure and submissive before ALL MEN. Even if the Koran does not call for that, the cultures of most Islamic countries do, and as a result the religion is interpreted into the culture. Compare that to Christianity. The teachings of Jesus Christ and the writings of the apostles SPECIFICALLY ELEVATED the status of women (and children) within the Christian context that recognizes that God made the covenant with Adam, an adult physically and intellectually mature male and further Christianity has TRANSFORMED cultures. The dirty little secret that atheists, liberals, and religious pluralists don’t want told is that before the introduction of Christianity, the west was just as brutal as the rest of the world. The Roman Empire had some degree of culture, true, but it was still legal for the head of a household, the paterfamilias, to kill all the women and children in his house. Women and children had no protection or legal status. And as for the pre – literate European pagan and animist tribes outside the Roman Empire … let us just say that they were called “barbarians” for a reason, for they did not even have the pretensions of culture or rights that the Roman Empire did.

Now Christianity transformed those cultures. That is why honor killings do not happen in Christian cultures, not even in the so – called third world. By contrast, Islam DOES NOT transform brutal, cruel cultures. That is why you see such atrocities against women, children, and yes men also even in some of the most modern and best educated Islamic cultures. It is also why when Muslims move into western cultures, people like the Kanwal family have difficulties adapting that Christian immigrants from places like Asia and Africa LACK. Islam IS NOT the true faith, so IT LACKS the ability to transform cultures.

This Robinson woman knows this, and that is why she is raising the specter of fundamentalist Baptist preachers in order to strike fear in the heart of every progressive man and woman that has been conditioned to believe that the evil white Christian men are going to take away their antinomian “liberty.” Were the truth actually taught in our schools and reflected in the media, it would be impossible to get away with this. No one teaches how cruel and brutal Europe was before Christianity, and how Christians brought people all over Europe everything ranging from human rights to things like medical training, modern agricultural methods, and written languages. The people running our schools and the media would rather have you believing that these things always existed – or that they came out of the Enlightenment – and Christianity opposed or slowed it.

Now please, do not mistake this for a religious right culture war screed about how we must defend our “western Judeo – Christian heritage” from this threat and that agenda. This is simply about my seeing yet another example of the media promoting a knowing lie in order to use it to claim that all religions are basically equal. They are not. Christianity came from God and when done according to the Bible reflects his character. Islam came from a man obviously possessed by an evil spirit – a fact that Mohammed initially did not deny until his human resistance wore down, and since he did not have God on his side he did not have the power to continually resist the evil or drive it off available to him – and reflects not the character of God, but of the fallen world, and that includes the Arabic/Middle Eastern/north African culture where it developed. (By the way, false forms of Christianity also reflects fallen worldly culture. First, take a look at the Roman Catholic Church, then state churches in Europe and wherever else they appear, and finally the American suburban seeker – sensitive megachurch scene.)

Were it not for the gospel of Jesus Christ, the entire world would be trapped in cultural darkness, and there would be no light anywhere. Melissa Robinson knows this, and that is why she is equating a woman submitting to her husband to honor killings. But it is the job of Christians to oppose this lie where it occurs and thereby defend the truth of the Bible. It is not a political or cultural battle against liberals and Islam, but it is a faith battle against Satan and all of his evil in the world, and the warfare weapon is the gospel of Jesus Christ and our willingness to regularly boldly witness, evangelize, proselytize, and testify of how Jesus Christ transforms the world one soul at a time, how this same Jesus Christ is returning again, and how He will set up a kingdom of peace and righteousness that will never end.

Still Support Harry Potter Christians? Does It Still Have “Good Christian Values”?

Posted by Job on October 28, 2007

Stuff like THIS is why so many of us BEGGED the administrator of Slice of Laodicea to get it back online after a satanic attack took it down. Before I provide the link, three points.

1. The only reason why Christians ever supported this abomination to begin with was because it was successful. Had the series been only a subculture thing instead of perhaps the biggest popular nonfiction literature in history, Christians would have never joined themselves to this sin. It is still more proof that so many Christians deep in their heart have not rejected the very same world that killed our Jesus Christ and separate ourselves from its evil as the Bible consistently tells us to, but instead conversely crave to be a part of it and to be accepted by it, and are willing to compromise the HOLINESS and UNIQUENESS of the gospel of Yeshua HaMashiach to do it. A great many of them even insist that it is impossible to be an effective witness to the lost without it. A Little Leaven has this often hilarious little feature calls The Graveyard of “Relevance” that helps make this point.

2. Why are you surprised at J.K. Rowling making Dumbledore homosexual? Not only is Rowling a liberal Christian (Church of Scotland which apparently no longer excommunicates people, no surprise there because virtually no one else does either) who worships at the church of tolerance, multiculturalism, political correctness, and diversity, but HOMOSEXUALITY HAS LONG BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH WITCHCRAFT, PAGANISM, THE OCCULT, IDOLATRY, ETC. They go hand in hand, and they always have. That is why whenever the children of Israel started going after idolatry in the Old Testament, sodomite activity greatly increased, remember? That was why when a righteous king took over after a period of apostasy, it was said that he took down the groves and high places AND removed the sodomites from the land (1 Kings 15:12). In more contemporary times, one of the primary reasons why feminists have been promoting witchcraft, the occult, and paganism (and working hard to introduce them into Christianity) has been the fact that homosexuality is an integral part of those traditions. Indeed, feminists have been promoting the notion that women should abandon Christianity for witchcraft because the former discriminates against homosexuality and the latter worships it!

All of these things are well known to the very Christians that have been defending Harry Potter all these years, and their willingness to stick their heads in the sand over this issue is proof that they are teetering on the edge of apostasy. But hey, when you are looking for redemptive messages in abominations like Pulp Fiction and Sin City (both of which openly mocked Christianity) as leading Harry Potter proponent Christianity Today does because “Christians have to stay relevant to popular culture in order to be able to project our values into that culture”, then oh well …

3. What is the big deal about homosexuality anyway? Why is it that homosexuality makes Harry Potter so bad? Stuff like this is what makes so many of us Christians a bunch of flaming (yes the pun was intended!) hypocrites. All homosexuality consists of is who you get into bed with, or in the case of Larry Craig solicit in a public bathroom. It is no different than adultery, fornication, watching those soap operas, or looking at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. Removing it from the realm of sexual sin, it is no different than lying, gossiping, cheating on your taxes, or routinely brazenly flouting the speed limit laws because you refuse to get out of bed early enough to get to work on time without needlessly recklessly endangering your life and property and those of others. It is all SIN, people. So the fact that so many Christians were willing to look past the fact that Harry Potter was the #2 promoter of witchcraft in Christian mainstream culture of all time (good old WALT DISNEY was #1, yet Christians did not care and considered it to be “traditional American family values” until they started having “Gay Days” at their theme parks!) but are now willing to drop the series over a single homosexual character shows how carnal their minds are. Bottom line: most Christians would much rather deal with coming home and finding their son playing with a ouija board than in bed with the quarterback on the football team. Despite the fact that both are clearly the same in God’s eyes, Christians are more concerned with what they want rather than what God wants, and how much more they will be made laughingstocks before their friends (some of whom are not even saved!) if the latter gets out rather than the former. It is all about being a man – pleasing Christian rather than a God – pleasing one.

Now I have heard about some of the things in the Harry Potter series, and how it is far worse than any of the witchcraft/fantasy children’s problems in the past. There was never any excuse for any Christian that takes the Bible seriously for accepting this mess in the past. It is sad that it took mere homosexuality to make that fact clear. But going back to point #2, you folks KNEW what was in Rowling’s books. You KNEW the character and mindset of this woman. So you should have KNOWN that she vigorously supported the sin of homosexuality and the gay agenda, and at some point was going to start advocating it along with other abominations. But rather than standing for the truth from the outset, you gave this woman the very endorsement and acceptance that the homosexual community has been seeking from the Christian community all this time. And that is why I disagree with one of the points of their commentary: ” I personally think that one of the reasons she did it was to keep Christianity from staking even the tiniest claim on Harry Potter . . . ever. ” No, Slice of Laodicea, it was precisely the opposite. Rowling did it precisely so that the sin of homosexuality would be accepted by mainstream Christianity, and that those of us that still call homosexuality sin would be further marginalized. All of you Christians that have defended or even refused to take a hard line against homosexuality all these years helped her. So how does that make you feel? I ask you that because your own feelings instead of what God wanted and demanded of you were all that you cared about to begin with! Hopefully you can see that now.

Update: apparently Ms. Rowling is a member of a secret society: check out the ring that she wore to her book signing: allday.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/07/29/295699.aspx. Did Christianity Today know that? Of course they did. I would not be surprised to find out that they are members too.
