Tim Tebow: Being Exploited And Misled By Focus On The Family

Posted by Job on January 26, 2010

College football star quarterback Tim Tebow is making a thinly veiled anti-abortion advertisement for the pseudo-Christian group Focus On The Family that is scheduled to run during the Super Bowl. Though they may yet buckle to pressure from wicked people who support the abortion procedure, that CBS has initially agreed to show the advertisement can be construed as evidence that the Tebow advertisement has nothing to do with a legitimate Christian message, and as such is not something that truly offends a world ruled by Satan that hates and has rejected Jesus Christ and will return to this same world to judge it one day.

Were Tebow’s message one that warned people of that impending judgment and informed them that accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to avoid the wrath of the judgment of the Lamb that is certain and soon to come, there is no way that CBS would air it. Thus, Focus On The Family is doing what it always has, which is promote a political and cultural agenda that is entirely comfortable and conformed to this world, which includes not only the mammon of big business like CBS, but the group of adulterers, homosexuals, pagan occultists, greedy corporatists, and bloodthirsty warmongers that rule this nation. Perhaps the greatest evil that groups like Focus On The Family, the Christian Coalition and their correlates on the religious left like the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is their deceiving Christians into thinking that we don’t have to separate from the world. Instead, they teach us that it is not only ok to be worldly, but that we HAVE to join forces with the world – so long as we are on the right team with the right values and agenda, the “right side” or “the left side” of the world – in order to promote and defend God’s agenda. The fact that Jesus Christ said that “I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH” and that we are to be nothing but Jesus Christ’s humble slaves, His own Body doing nothing but His bidding just as Jesus Christ did nothing but God the Father’s Will during His sojourn as a human on this earth, is cast aside by virtue as the same temptation that Satan used to deceive Eve: the appeal to our human vanity, the pride of life.

So, we have the religious right telling us that if we are conservatives, we are good Christians and we can make this nation righteous and holy. We have the religious left telling us that we are liberals, then we are good Christians and we can make this nation righteous and holy. The truth is that no nation can be righteous and holy – even Israel failed in this mission – and that all will be judged by the one God who is righteous and holy, America included. The big deception is that these political Christian movements deceive you into thinking that you are choosing one side over the other when the truth is that behind the scenes, both dominant political movements are joined together in promoting iniquity. But then again, how much “behind the scenes” is it? After all, George W. Bush declared to the world on many occasions that he supports abortion rights, homosexual rights, religious pluralism, and rejects Biblical inerrancy and infallibility.

On those issues and many others (including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into “bailouts” purporting to save the economy, and the promotion of military, political, economic and cultural globalism as well as New Age philosophical and religious thought) there was no substantial difference between Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter, and incidentally for the dispensationalists, Bush had the same policy towards Israel – pushing them towards a “two-state solution” with Palestinian terrorists – also. It is just that these political false Christians have done an excellent job of pulling the wool over the eyes of so many that we THINK that there is a difference.

And now these people have apparently succeeded in getting Tim Tebow, a very young man who has lived a sheltered life, to join them in their wickedness. (This comes after the governor of Florida, a scoundrel on many levels, has been brazenly attempting to exploit Tebow’s fame to aid his re-election attempts.) Similar to the Carrie Prejean outrage, it is becoming a common tactic among the political wolves seeking to devour the Christian sheep to prop up and exploit young Christians into being spokesmen – positions of leadership and influence – despite knowing full well that they lack the wisdom and maturity that the Bible requires for such positions of responsibility (there is a reason why a term for “pastor” in the New Testament is “ELDER”). Where are the adult Christians in Tebow’s life, his parents and pastors, whose job it is to redirect his zeal from the snares and deceptions of the enemy and onto the path that Jesus Christ actually told us to take?

Look, even from a secular standpoint, the Tebow commercial is extremely problematic. Where testimonials, or testimonies of personal experience, are a requirement and blessing in the Christian life, in other contexts they are often abused to the point of being deceiving and manipulative. This appears to be one of these incidents, where Tebow relates how he could have been aborted. And of course, young men and women who love Tebow for his exploits on the football field and his good works off it are supposed to be whipped up into a frenzy of shock, fear, anger and rage and in response run out to elect more (pro-abortion and at times closeted homosexual!) Republicans to office, and of course to send more money to Focus On The Family, who despite being so financially destitute that they were forced to lay off dozens of staffers and pare back their “ministry activities” are somehow able to come up with $2.5 to $3 million for a Super Bowl advertisement.

But here is the problem: Tim Tebow’s mother was advised to abort Tebow because SHE WAS VERY ILL AT THE TIME. What are we supposed to do? Endorse the idea that a mother is supposed to always unconditionally sacrifice her own life to have a child? Where is that in the New Testament? Someone show me! And does this Christian doctrine of being required to unconditionally sacrifice your life ONLY apply to pregnant women? If so, why? Because the baby is innocent? WELL SO IS THE MOTHER! Or truthfully, from an honest theological perspective, the baby is just as guilty of original sin as the mother is! Don’t want to believe it? Well, you need to stop reading your fake political “pro-life literature” from Focus On The Family, National Right To Life, the Christian Coalition or whoever and start reading the TRUE pro-life literature, meaning ETERNAL life, which is THE BIBLE (and regarding this original sin issue specifically the first 12 chapters of the book of Romans is a good place to start). And again, who else has to live under this standard? If there are two people in a burning building and you can only rescue one, would you have to allow them both to burn to death because choosing one over the other is murder? Or what about a sinking ship? There are 100 people on it, but only room on the lifeboat for 99. So do all 100 people have to die because sacrificing that 1 person’s life to save the rest is murder? If not, then what right do we have to say that a woman UNCONDITIONALLY HAS to risk her life to have a baby? Again, pro-life Christians need to make this case USING SCRIPTURE. So not only is deceiving Tebow away from the gospel of Jesus Christ into making political messages that have NOTHING to do with that gospel bad in and of itself, but Tebow is being used to deliver THE WORST ANTI-ABORTION MESSAGE POSSIBLE.

Now do not be deceived. I despise abortion and greatlywish for the procedure to be generally illegal. (And unlike the sham pro-lifer politicians and activists who ALWAYS waffle when confronted with this question, were abortion illegal, yes I would certainly advocate putting any doctor who performs the procedure or any woman who receives it in jail where they would belong.) So in this way, I am like Tebow. The issue is that by relying on Tebow’s personal story to send a message that is manipulative, deceptive, and highly medically, ethically and theologically suspect … look what if some pregnant single mother with 8 kids and no reliable family support who loves college football and is inspired by Tim Tebow has been warned by doctors not to have her ninth child sees this commercial, ignores her doctor and attempts to carry the pregnancy to term as a result, only to have both her and the child die. Who is going to adopt and take care of that woman’s kids in that scenario? Focus On The Family? Don’t hold your breath. Oh yes, and what if this woman, who was never taken to church by her own parents but knows Tebow’s reputation for Christianity, mistakes the pro-life message for the gospel of Jesus Christ, tries to carry the pregnancy to term because she thinks that it is her “Christian duty” only to have that tragedy happen, AND AS A RESULT NEVER HEARS THE REAL GOSPEL, AND DOES NOT LIVE TO SHARE IT WITH HER EIGHT CHILDREN WHO ARE THEN DUMPED ON STATE SOCIAL SERVICES, THE VERY SOCIAL SERVICES THAT FOCUS ON THE FAMILY REGULARLY ELECTS CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES TO SLASH FUNDING AND PROGRAMS FOR. Look, issues like these are extremely serious and must be dealt with prudently. That is why people who lack the ability to navigate such issues prudently – and a 22 year old football player would almost inherently meet that definition – should stick to very gospel of Jesus Christ that Focus On The Family is seducing Tebow away from. That is why we should stick to what the Bible calls the foolishness and simplicity of the gospel of Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected from the dead.

And the person who modeled this for us? Why Jesus Christ Himself. Though not a citizen like the apostle Paul, Jesus Christ was born into and in His human condition was a willing subject of the Roman Empire. Now what are the two main items on the agenda of the religious right? Homosexuality and abortion/infanticide. Well, both were widely practiced in the Roman Empire. (As a matter of fact, some researchers have proposed this as a reason for the rapid growth of Christianity within the Empire in terms of its percentage of the population: no homosexuality or infanticide meant higher birthrates.) However, did Jesus Christ at any time organize a pro-life, pro-family political movement? No. And since Jesus Christ did ALL and ONLY that which was the will of God the Father, it is clear that changing the legal and cultural fabric of the Roman Empire was not His mission.

Well, you might say that Jesus Christ’s mission was a limited one, and it was left to the church to pursue the pro-life, pro-family agenda, right? Not according to the Bible. Read the epistles. Despite living and evangelizing in an overwhelmingly pagan and immoral culture, at no point did Paul or any other apostle advocate an agenda of political, legal or social reform that would have wasted the time and effort of imposing God’s righteousness on the unregenerate. Instead, the entire agenda of Jesus Christ and His apostles to save the lost – to turn the unregenerate into the regenerate – and to teach and lead the found into holy and righteous living. What of the abortion, homosexuality and other sins? Well sin is what sinners do. (As a matter of fact, the New Testament clearly states that even Christians are not immune from falling into sin.) That is not going to stop no matter how many laws are passed, and even if you can somehow physically restrain a sinner from doing wickedness with his hands, he is still going to sin in his mind and heart (Matthew 15:1-20). The Great Commission is Jesus Christ’s commandment to the church to save souls and disciple them thereafter. Passing laws to stop people from having abortions does not accomplish this, and therefore is not the duty of the church. It was not the agenda of the apostles, and it was not the agenda of Jesus Christ. Despite what the liberal theologians claim, Jesus Christ DID NOT attempt to lead a political or religious reform agenda within Israel or Rome, and neither did the apostles. Instead, their only agenda was the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of reformed hearts using the transforming love and power of God. Their agenda is our agenda, and if it is not the agenda of Jesus Christ and the apostles (yes, the apostles are the foundation of the church which Jesus Christ is the only Head) then it is not a true, legitimate Christian agenda but instead a diversion, a deception.

And this is the truly regrettable thing regarding Tim Tebow. Because – as far as I know based on what I have read about him – Tebow was heretofore acting as a legitimate Great Commission Christian. Working on the missionary field, sharing the gospel with those in prison, doing good works for the poor … those were all things specifically commanded by Jesus Christ and done by His apostles and followers as recorded in the New Testament. It is this Focus On The Family evil that Jesus Christ never commanded us and the Bible does not teach us to do that is the problem. It is a temptation of Tebow, to lead him astray from the path of legitimate Christian service and ministry because of his fame, and we Christians should pray for Tebow that he not yield to temptation. We should pray that prudent Christians surround him and tell him the truth, and that Tebow heed their Biblical counsel to avoid the world and all its temptations and to adhere closely to what the Bible commands of him. The call, purpose and design that God has on the life of Tebow, of every Christian for that matter, is contained within the Bible, and we are not to deviate from it. The sola scriptura doctrine of Christianity is essential, and we are not to deviate from it to the right or to the left.

Now it is true … many have been seduced into the arena of political Christianity by the historical fact that Christianity socially and legally reformed the Roman Empire. We are often told of how Constantine converted, how Christianity was ultimately made the state religion of the Empire, and how infanticide, the decadent homosexuality culture, and slavery were abolished, how the status of women and children greatly improved etc. These things are true, but like Tebow’s “don’t get an abortion … had my own grievously ill mother had aborted me OKLAHOMA WOULD HAVE WON THE NATIONAL TITLE!” it is a simplistic rendering of history that ignores some key facts. First, Constantine refused to submit himself to a pastor to learn Christian doctrine and living. Second, Constantine rejected Biblical Christianity for Arianism (and was baptized on his deathbed as such) and persecuted actual Christians. Third: Constantine began the vile practice of making Christianity an instrument of state power, including warfare.

The result of Constantine’s melding Christianity with the state and culture was not the rapid evangelization of the pagans within the Roman Empire. Instead, the reverse happened:  the pagans flooded the Roman state church, bringing with them their perverse doctrines and lifestyles. Altering Christianity into a form where it could be embraced by the culture and government made it A.) acceptable for the unsaved and B) unfit for the saved. In short: a worldly false apostate Christianity of the sort warned against by Jesus Christ (especially in Revelation 2 and 3) and His apostles. Of course, a true invisible body of believers of Jesus Christ existed at that time and through all times, but to claim that Roman state-church-culture was a legitimate expression of it and not the abomination that it actually was is historically, theologically, factually false and dishonest. So are the modern successors of Constantine and his “advisor” Eusebius (considered the creator of Constantinian church-state theology) who live on in movements like Focus On The Family, the Family Research Council, the Traditional Values Coalition, and all of these other organizations, councils, coalitions, groups etc. whose leaders get very rich off contributions that should be going to spread the gospel and help the poor, and whose agenda is not the gospel of Jesus Christ but families, values, culture, morals and other worldly things. How ironic that the actual Jesus Christ warned His legitimate sheep that being a Christian often meant being rejected by your family and culture.

It is because we live in a country that purports to be majority Christian that we can suffer this delusion. But imagine being a Christian in a majority Muslim, Hindu or communist country.  What good would the anti-abortion advertisements of football players do for Christianity in Indonesia? China? India? Egypt? Or even the Hamas-PLO controlled Palestine where Jesus Christ was born? (Or for that matter Israel, where sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ can literally result in a jail sentence? It is a subject that an odd coalition of theological liberals and prominent dispensationalists do their best to tiptoe around, but it is true.) But when Jesus Christ returns, the whole world will see Him, and all delusions will come to an end.

When that day comes, where will you be? What will you be doing? Whose agenda will you be supporting? Will it be the agenda of Jesus Christ as revealed to you by the New Testament? Or will it be some worldly political agenda crafted to gain power, make money and hide the truth from people who so desperately need it? Ultimately, the question is this: who’s side are you on? Where does your heart, the things that you truly love and desire, lie? With Jesus Christ and the world to come? Or this world that God will judge and burn with fire? Are you as Lot, who fled Sodom and Gomorrah and was spared judgment? Or are you as Lot’s wife, who turned and look back because her heart desired Sodom, Gomorrah and the perversions of it and received judgment  – the turning into a pillar of salt, the ending of her life – as a result? (And do not be deceived … the devastation that happened to all that Lot had was the result of Lot’s joining himself to Sodom and Gomorrah in the first place.) Worldliness that is known and regarded to be evil is bad enough, but worldliness that passes itself for Godly virtue – the work of the Pharisees – is particularly insidious. From such things, Christians should turn away. Let us pray that all Christians, Tim Tebow included, are protected by Jesus Christ from falling into this evil and into all others.

Joe Lowery Uses HUSSEIN Obama Inaugural Prayer To Bash All White People

Posted by Job on January 21, 2009

Pastor Rick Warren’s invocation uses Jewish, Christian mix

Obama smiled as Lowery asked God to “help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right.”

Sooo … white people are the source of all the problems? Not just some problems but all problems? And all white people, not just some white people? Some white people aren’t the source of some problems, some black people aren’t the source of some problems, some brown people aren’t the source of some problems, some yellow people aren’t the source of some problems, some red people aren’t the source of some problems, but all white people are the source of all problems, and all nonwhite people are blameless?

Again, Joe Lowery is AN ORDAINED MINISTER. He said this IN A PRAYER. In the CONCLUDING PRAYER to the PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION. AND OBAMA SMILED.

Simply amazing.  So what, like white people are responsible for the mess that is Africa that is killing so many black people? White people created the problems in Mexico that causes so many brown people to illegally enter this country? White people created the problems for yellow people in China and North Korea? White people are the cause of sky high alcoholism rates on Native American reservations? And the white Christians who are giving up wealth and comfort and risking their lives to work as missionaries in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and among the Native Americans aren’t embracing what is right?

This is proof that just because you have some title like “pastor” or “reverend” doesn’t make you a Christian. Look, according to the Bible that Joseph Lowery totally ignores, there are two “races.” Those in Jesus Christ that are going to heaven, and those who reject Jesus Christ that are going to spend an eternity in the lake of fire unless they repent. Which “race” you are depends on the race that you are running. If you have chosen the easy path that leads to the wide gate, then you are in and of the eternally doomed race.  If you have chosen the hard path that leads to the strait gate, the one that rejects bitterness, hatred, resentment, finger pointing, and excuse making, then you are in and of the redeemed race that is headed for an eternity with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who will wipe every tear from your eyes. If you are running the wrong race, now is the time to change lanes. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today.

The Religious Right: Not God’s Servant!

Posted by Job on October 28, 2008

I read media reports about this story of the fearmongering that religious right activists are engaging in to get John McCain and Sarah Palin in the White House, but was hindered from immediately addressing it. It is just as well, because PJ Miller did a better job discussing it than I could have. So, let me just add to her post with another angle … actually a political one.

Bible readers have been shocked by the great praise that the book of Isaiah heaps on King Darius of the Medo – Persians, calling him God’s servant. Why? Because this Darius was a pagan who never seems to have converted! This should not surprise especially in light of Romans 13. In that passage, the Bible refers to civil government as a gift from God used to do good and restrain evil. In short, civil government is God’s servant through common grace, not special grace, and therefore wise honest effective rulers serve God despite their lack of covenant relationship with Him. So the Bible has record of people in addition to Darius like Egypt’s pharoah, Nebuchadnezzar and Xerxes who whether they ultimately converted or not were God’s servants because they ruled wisely, often by virtue of appointing people like Joseph, Daniel and Mordecai as their chief advisors and administrators.

But make no mistake, to be God’s servant in a civil magistrate position, you have to be a wise, competent, effective and honest ruler. Otherwise, even if you are a Christian, you are not God’s servant in this role. You may be legitimately born again and going to heaven, but if you take on a leadership role that you were not meant for and lack the skills and gifts for, or if you are less than hardworking or principled in this capacity, though you may be God’s servant in the church, you are not in the state. Martin Luther for his part recognized this when he made the statement that he would rather be ruled by a wise Muslim than a foolish Christian. The context of this statement is even more amazing when you consider what Muslims had done to so many Christians in Luther’s time and in times recently prior, a history that Luther was well aware of.

So in this utterly Biblical and very practical context, the Christian right is not acting as God’s servant. First of all, by trying to frighten people into voting for John McCain, they are spreading fear, discord, confusion, and yes bigotry into the country. That means that even if they succeed, McCain will have a much tougher time actually governing this place. And if they fail, then wow these folks have all but stated that they have license to completely reject Obama’s authority and spend the next four years as political (and religious) subversives.

Second, who are their efforts in support of? John McCain. Is there any evidence at all that McCain will be an effective, honest, fair, just and wise ruler? If so, present it. The truth is that nothing in this fellow’s background indicates it, and everything indicates otherwise. We know that in 1998 John McCain basically rejected the political philosophies and alliances that he had spent his first 16 years in Congress cultivating. We know that in 2008, John McCain then repudiated the what he had spent from 1998 to 2008 advocating. And we also know that the John McCain of October is advocating things completely different from the John McCain of February, and that is different still from the John McCain of July. Translation: John McCain either has no philosophical and ideological convictions or he is willing to discard or lie about them in order to gain power. Also, again, John McCain has been in Congress since 1982. In all that time, he has only passed one major piece of legislation: campaign finance reform. The guy is a back bencher, relegated to the minor Commerce Committee (not to be confused with the actually important banking and finance) and even there did nothing that anyone can recognize but gain a network of cronies that he would later exploit for fundraising purposes. He has not only never been a leader in the Senate, he has never even been a team player. That is why his claim to fame was his being a “maverick”, or in other words undermining his colleagues for the past 10 years.

So basically, Christians are resorting to these tactics to elect a man that they know has nothing to show for his long political career, has no loyalties to anyone other than himself, no convictions other than his own personal advancement, has no leadership skills, and no cooperative or collaborative skills. Again, this is something that McCain has repeatedly demonstrated over the past 26 years. So this is the guy that they are willing to spread fear, hate, and division to get into office? The proper Biblical stance towards this election should be to support NEITHER McCain NOR Obama and pray for EITHER should they be elected. Yet the next religious right leader that you hear say such a thing would be the first. (Ironically the pastor of Sarah Palin’s former church put out a statement saying that he planned to do precisely that.)

It is no surprise if they are. After all, these are the guys that got George W. Bush elected and re – elected, and before him did the same for George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan twice. And never forget that the first candidate of the religious right, though not organized as it is today, was none other than Jimmy Carter. And this is not even considering all of the incompetent corrupt immoral people that these folks have fought to get elected to Congress and in our governorships. Take a look at what has gone on since the rise of the religious right in 1980 and especially since their uprisings in 1994, 2000 and 2004. Has Roe versus Wade been overturned? Not a chance and not even close. Has gay rights including gay marriage been successfully opposed? Please. Have our public schools started challenging evolution and environmentalism? No. Are our government policies more pro – family? Not unless homosexuals cohabitating and adopting children counts. This country is more socially and culturally liberal in almost every single area since the rise of the religious right, and what is more the religious right and the churches that are part of it have conformed itself to that liberalism rather than separating itself from it and opposing it.

And that is just things that are superficially related to religion. Have any of the religious right candidates delivered peace either abroad or on our streets? No. Have they brought us economic prosperity? Forget it! Despite conservative rhetoric otherwise, the terms of Reagan, Bush, and Bush II were marked by increased street crime, failed wars and military operations, and disastrous economic policies that include a grotesque national debt, two major banking collapses (one for each Bush) and an obscene level of fraud, corruption and waste from the $400 dollar hammers and toilet seats that government contractors billed us for under Reagan to the outright brazen theft in Iraq and New Orleans.

It is not just the performance, it is also the philosophy. Neoconservatism is not biblical, plain and simple. It exalts the powerful, justifies the unjust, and demonizes the poor, the oppressed, and the innocent victims. Even apart from the Bible, it is just plain bad government policy. Using a Bible example that does not directly relate to doctrine or practice, I recall the wisdom of King Hezekiah who built cisterns and aqueducts so that Jerusalem would have a water supply during the inevitable Assyrian siege. Can you imagine the neoconservatives – again which includes the religious right – doing such a thing? Nope, they would have just cut taxes and given corporate welfare to the olive oil companies and spear manufacturers. (By the way, speaking of which, please note the religious right worship of our military industrial complex and contrast it with God’s command to biblical Israel not to own chariots. Religious right types that claim that America or “the west” is somehow now God’s covenant people need to explain their insistence that America continue its buildup of conventional, nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and use said arsenal to compel the rest of the world to do what we want.)

Neoconservatives would never admit it, but things like our railroads, interstate highway system, our public school system and state universities, Hoover Dam, the REA which brought electricity to rural America and other programs which brought power to the western interior, the Manhattan Project, the national laboratories that gave us modern electronics, fabrics, the Internet etc. were all the direct result of government. Private industry developed some of those things, but their primary function was to market and use what the government did, what the taxpayers paid for. Now can you honestly imagine this current crop of neoconservatives supporting sending power lines into Appalachia or the Mississippi Delta or building Hoover Dam, or building the Panama Canal? Please. Those fellows would claim that if the private sector had no interest in it, then it isn’t worth doing. Of course, that seems to be their same attitude towards our crumbling infrastructure like New Orleans’ levees and the collapsing bridges also.

Do not get me wrong. I do not worship the state, nor do I demonize commerce. I take the Biblical view of recognizing that each has its proper role in society according to common grace. Neoconservatism rejects the Biblical view in favor of worshiping private enterprise as the source and standard by which all good things flow and are measured and by demonizing even the possibility of effective civil leadership. Their only program is to cut taxes and then to make up the revenue shortfall by doing things like selling off control of our interstate highways or our ports (again both built with taxpayer money!) to foreign companies and governments!

Again, do not take me for an Obama supporter or adherent to his flavor of Marxism. (Although opponents of Marxism who still support John McCain despite his not only voting for the bailout but being one of the people who led the fight to pass it through the U.S. Senate should explain themselves, again starting with the religious right.) So no, the religious left is not God’s servant either! It is merely particularly galling that the very people who claim to base their political activism to fidelity to sound doctrine and practice based on a literal interpretation of the Bible could be so fundamentally off. Were these fellows running Old Testament Israel in the time of David and Solomon, they would have never built the temple because it would have meant raising taxes. (For that matter, they would have never built the tabernacle either.) Were these fellows running Egypt in Joseph’s time, they would have never consented to setting aside the grain, because it would have represented government seizing private property, and the whole nation would have died. (Please note: this is very similar to how neoconservatives actually defend deficit spending and never even talk about the national debt … again not that the left cares about the national debt either but why should we expect them to since they make no pretense of heeding Biblical inerrancy?)

The religious right shows its departure from scripture by backing not only leaders that they well know will never be wise civil magistrates (foolish whether they be Christians or Turks, and please recall that universalist Skulls and Bones occultist George H. W. Bush and necromancer Ronald Reagan cannot be referred to as Christians in any sense) but a political ideology that is in itself a rejection of the knowledge of God and a high thing that exalts itself against God! All you have to do is listen to these people rant on their talk shows or from their pulpits. You will come away hating impoverished children and widows and being convinced that the life of an Iraqi is so not worth giving 5 seconds of attention to that nearly a million civilian casualties are worth our going to war to give them a political and economic system that they didn’t ask for and that everyone knows will never work (yes, the puppet regime that we are installing in Iraq is destined to fail and everyone knows it)!

And what is the justification for casting in your lot with this apostate movement? It isn’t abortion. The religious right should have known not to trust the GOP the second that Ronald Reagan appointed Sandra Day O’Connor. Reagan had never cared one whit about women’s rights in his long political career, but he puts a woman whose views on abortion are no different from Barack Obama’s because it was SOOO important to have a female Supreme Court judge? Also, it isn’t as if there weren’t TONS of female pro – life judges, legal activists, and legal scholars. Reagan could have nominated a Phyllis Schafly and not skipped a beat! Why didn’t he? Because Reagan was pro – abortion just like George H. W. Bush is pro – abortion and George W. Bush is pro – abortion. The only difference is that where the Bushes have repeatedly publicly stated that they support Roe v. Wade, Reagan lied about it. But check his record going back to California; it speaks otherwise.

So if it isn’t abortion or any of those other social issues (again, please note how our nation and culture have moved so far to the left legally on those social issues despite – or maybe because of? – our courts stacked with Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Bush appointees including the Reagan and Nixon judges that give the radical social left victory after victory in California!) then what is it about? Again, it is obviously not about honest, wise, fair leadership, and it is certainly not about preserving a nation founded on Christian principles. No, it is about power, and so long as they get their people running this nation, they could care less what their people do to it and to its people (or for that matter to other nations and people). This is precisely the opposite of what the Bible calls for, and the best evidence that the religious right is not God’s servant and therefore no different from the religious left at all. Both are two sides of the same anti – Christ coin.

Sarah Palin’s Thomas Muthee Is A Word Of Faith Dominionist!

Posted by Job on October 1, 2008

I put up a post defending this fellow a few days ago. Fortunately IndependentConservative informed me of my insanity, and I removed it. Good thing too. First of all, Muthee is a Word of Faither. Second, the guy is a dominionist. This article talks about the “Christians should rule the world” mentality of third wave charismatics and Pentecostals that people like Muthee exhibit … even though the spawn of Azusa Street is almost uniformly Cyrus Scofield pre – tribulation rapturist, their attitudes towards politics, government, and secular activity come straight from the Origenist amillennialism that the Roman Catholic Church used to justify their goal to take over the world.

So we know what Muthee believes. The question is whether Palin believes it also. Because if McCain wins in 2008 as I fully expect him to, Palin is your president in 2012. Further proof that no matter who wins, Christians need to pray, serve the Lord, and resist evil in all that we do. We have to be careful and discerning. I fell into supporting Muthee out of my opposition to witchcraft, but it looks like this fellow supports something far worse: a false version of Christianity that wants to dominate the globe.

Ron Luce of BattleCry: Supporting Ministry of Word of Faith Jezebel Heretics Marilyn And Sarah Hickey!

Posted by Job on May 28, 2008

I used to love watching Ron Luce’s events such as “Acquire The Fire” and “BattleCry” on Christian broadcasting and generally supported their efforts: see New York Times Portrays Teenage Christians As Hatemongers. Then, I found out that Luce was among those endorsing syncretized Christianity via New Age contemplative spirituality: BattleCry’s Ron Luce Gets In On The Contemplative Prayer Scam. So, here we had another example of Christians taking what is supposed to be a bold – even coercive and militaristic – stand in secular areas like politics and culture while compromising attacks on the faith itself. For example: not long ago one of Luce’s TV shows celebrated their victory over a chain of mall gift shops selling pornographic Christmas tree ornaments. You might be interested in knowing how this victory took place. Was it converting the owner of the gift shop chain into Christianity? No. Was it converting so many customers of this gift shop chain into Christianity that selling such things would be commercially viable? No. Instead, they employed the same tactics that atheists, gay rights groups, pro – abortion people, and New Age (there’s that world again!) environmentalist Gaia mother earth worshipers use: protests, picket signs, media pressure, etc. In other words, it as Christians imposing their social, political, and cultural beliefs – not the gospel mind you but only secular beliefs! – on people that reject Jesus Christ knowing full well that a person can have those beliefs, not have Jesus Christ, and still burn for an eternity in the lake of fire. And it was not even any sort of conviction or shame over sin and blasphemy that forced this fellow to change. Instead, they used GREED as an inducement. This fellow did not stop selling pornographic Christmas tree ornaments because the Ron Luce kids caused him fear the God of Heaven. Instead, the Ron Luce kids manipulated his fear of the god of THIS WORLD to force him to change his behavior. These “Christians” used MAMMON, more specifically the fear of losing money and power, to get this fellow to do what they wanted him to do! Seriously, how different is that from witchcraft, the occult, black magic, white magic, roots, or voodoo? Well, if you give up Jesus Christ’s spiritual mission for earthly gains and glory, such a thing is inevitably going to happen, because if you obey Jesus Christ, you can reach the world in a spiritual manner by the Holy Spirit. But if you go off and do things that Jesus Christ never told you to do, you reach the world through its flesh by the flesh.

So, it is no surprise that so many of these religious right “taking back the culture” dominionists have gotten quite comfortable with incorporating so many worldly techniques, even things from other religions, into not only their political practice but religious doctrines and practices. Using slain in the spirit false charismatic techniques so that you can do a better job of brainwashing and manipulating young children than does the anti – Christ public schools? Why not? It is beating the enemy at his own game right? See: Jesus Camp: Bewitching Our Children With False Doctrines!

The question is similar to Roman Catholicism centuries ago, why are the Pentecostal and charismatic evangelical movements so conducive to getting people to believe that A) it is our job to establish the kingdom of heaven on earth rather than to preach the gospel and obey the Bible and let God do what God has already said He would and B) to accomplish A) using secular methods? Just The Book has an excellent series on how these people are targeting our kids in this fashion, here is merely one of their many entries, and yes Just The Book (a sola scriptura title!) does invest a lot of time in investigating the links between Roman Catholic mysticism and not only charismatic mania, but how charismatic mania influences POLITICS. I am not one of those who claims that the Roman Catholic Church is mystery Babylon the great, the beast, etc. but their fingerprints are all over this movement.

So here is the link of Ron Luce endorsing the false ministry of the Hickeys. I don’t know how long the link is going to last, so here goes the text:

In a world that seems to be turning upside down, God wants YOU to be a world – changer!“After a radical encounter with God, Sarah Bowling began to sense the need to revolutionize her World… from the inside out. “That’s where the true revolution begins,” says Sarah.

Regardless of how old or young you are, or where you live on the planet, God wants you to be concerned, confronted, compelled, corrupted, and consumed by the cause of Christ. He sees the potential in each of us to become a revolutionary.

How to Keep Your Faith in an Upside-down World can be a beginning for you; a beginning of radical relationship with God, of tremendous transformation in your own life, and a real revolution of God’s love, power and Word in your world and the world around you!” Sarah’s book will encourage you to not just be a surviving Christian, but a thriving Christian. Sarah’s message will help you excel and move forward in your Christian walk—despite living in an upside down world.

-Ron Luce, Founder of Teen Mania

So … God wants you to be corrupted by the cause of Jesus Christ? That must be the Word of Faith/prosperity doctrine translation. You know, the one that teaches that Jesus Christ had to be born again (either in hell or at his baptism), that He was raped, and other blasphemies. God wants us to be a revolutionary? In the form of dying to self, not being conformed to the world and its ways but being transformed by God’s Word, etc. But since Luce did not provide that context for us – and since he promotes WORLDLY and UNBIBLICAL ministers like the Hickeys and practices like contemplative spirituality – I cannot presume him to mean “revolutionary” in a biblical context (especially since the world itself never appears in the Bible … at least not in my translation … again maybe it appears in the Word of Faith/prosperity ones), but rather in a worldly one. And again, since Luce’s “ministry” is fond of using militaristic images – complete with teens wearing combat fatigues and having vehicles i.e. jeeps painted with camouflage designs on stage, and yes since he encourages these children to be active in the secular arena – what prevents me from deciding that Luce means “revolutionary” in the Che Guevara, Simon Bolivar, Joan of Arc sense? Or the aforementioned children’s crusade

People, Satan Is Real And After Your Kids, and among the places very where Satan is like a lion, roaring, looking for and stalking whom he may devour as it reads 1 Peter 5:8 is in these false churches and false Christian movements. This is why we need to flee false teachers and reject their doctrines people, and only seek after the Word of God and those who teach it. There is no need, no reason to compromise or make excuses, because the consequences are too severe. Marilyn and Sarah Hickey and Ron Luce: as Amos 3: 3 says, how can they walk together unless they be agreed?

Judeo – Christianity Does Not Include Jesus Christ Or Messianic Jews!

Posted by Job on April 25, 2008

Banning Jesus: What a “Judeo-Christian” Prayer Service Looks Like from Slice of Laodicea:

I had emailed you awhile back about an event similar to this one, co-sponsored by my previous church. It was to pray for Israel, and Jewish folks were invited as well. The problem began when I found out just a day before the event, from the church we were partnered with to do this, that in order not to be offensive they had to remove their crosses that were out in the open, banners with the name of Jesus on them, the speakers were only to read from the Old Testament, and no songs of Jesus were to be sung. They said that we had to agree to this ahead of time or the Jewish participants would not come. Also, Messianic Jews were not allowed to participate as speakers, and if they attended, they had to sit in a special place in the back as to not offend the Jewish folks who think they are traitors to Judaism…

I have stated in the past that these incidents are not by accident. It is part of an ongoing effort on a religion based on rejecting Jesus Christ – rabbinic Judaism – to cause Christians to do the same. Jews claim that it is done to remove the “threat” of proselytization. Nonsense. The biggest threat to Judaism is not proselytization, but of Jews becoming for all practical purpose atheists or marrying non – Jews (also almost always atheists in practice) and not raising their children in Judaism. The threat of persecution is also given as another reason, and I agree that there is a history of such behavior by Christians. Yet Muslims also have persecuted Jews, and Jews do not respond by trying to get nonviolent Muslims to alter and deny their faith. (Quite the contrary, Jews promote the notion that Jews and Muslims were living together in peace before the Christians came and taught the Muslims to hate.)

No, this is all about their being offended at the claims of Jesus Christ being their God and Messiah through whose Name alone can salvation can be granted. So, Jews have been successful in getting liberal “Christians” to deny Jesus Christ because liberal Christianity was basically already there to begin with, so anti – Semitism and the memory of the Holocaust gave them yet another excuse to not only deny fundamentalism within themselves, but to attack Christians that insisted on adhering to it as bigoted and dangerous. It is not that such liberal Christians sincerely care about Jews suffering bigotry and harm as they are offended by fundamentalist Christians continuing to hold onto their doctrines and as such exposing them as the apostate frauds that they are.

But evangelical Christians were a tougher case, because in order to retain influence among those that have rejected theological liberalism and universalism, there remained the need to assert fidelity to scripture. So to them, the way was right wing politics, with dispensational pre – tribulation rapture doctrines added to it. The older Christians probably know within their heart that it is primarily a secular activity for cultural and political reasons, but younger Christians raised on this HONESTLY DO NOT KNOW BETTER.

You have two groups of concern here. First, there are the younger Christians, folks 30, 35, even 40 and younger who were raised in an evangelical church, and for whom the views and activities of Falwell, Robertson, Dobson, etc. have always been part of their religious mindset. The amazing thing that a lot of these people have grown up reading newspaper columns and listening to radio shows produced by people that they presume to be evangelical Christians (and by this I do not mean the likes of Dobson but actually secular figures like Rush Limbaugh) and have their religious views influenced by them, not to mention by politicians like Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. And then there is the second group, which is people that have been converted into political evangelicalism during this time. Counting their children, it may actually be larger. Both groups would be absolutely shocked to find out that before the rise of the religious right, not only was the practice of joining hands with people that explicitly reject Jesus Christ as do rabbinic Jews in spiritual gatherings not done, but similar gatherings between even Roman Catholics and Christians were rare!

And of course, I am going to play the hypocrisy card. Let us say that it were MUSLIMS rather than Jews! THESE SAME PEOPLE WOULD INSIST ON PRAYING IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST IN THEIR PRESENCE AND DENOUNCE AS AN APOSTATE HERETIC ANYONE WHO REFUSED! Why? Well, Muslims are on the other side politically and represent a different political alignment and worldview, for one thing. That is one of the reasons why so many conservatives are so willing to accept the notion that Barack HUSSEIN Obama may secretly be Muslim. Never mind the fact that radical Islam is not only much more socially conservative than not only the left wing of the Democratic Party but also most evangelical Christian Republicans, since neither Obama or Usama are on their side politically and culturally one is as good as the other.

And that brings us to the really troubling part: the theological one. These folks went delusional with rage when Keith Ellison took the oath of office on a Koran, WHICH WAS HIS CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT. Let me repeat: WE HAVE SEPARATION BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE AND FREEDOM OF RELIGION, SO IT WAS THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT OF KEITH ELLISON TO TAKE HIS OATH OF OFFICE ON A KORAN. Yet these same people are willing to allow Jews that reject the New Testament to come sit in their church, and to join them in making meaningless prayers. Now keep in mind: it is very possible for a Muslim to swear himself to a religious right agenda based on the Koran.

But the reason why it has to be Judeo – Christian values (and increasingly Judeo – Christian – Mormon values) is THEOLOGY. Religious right Christians have absolutely no problem proclaiming that Muslims are going to burn in the lake of fire unless they accept Jesus Christ. But Jews? Well, that is when we get into the equivocating. It really does appear that the political and cultural interests of the religious right has affected the theology, especially for those that were not Christians (or alive) before the formation of the religious right. While some – many – most are unwilling to explicitly commit to dual covenant theology, they nonetheless see Jews as having some special place with God – some special spiritual status – that every other person that rejects Jesus Christ does not have. Were that not the case, THERE IS NO WAY THAT THEY WOULD CONSENT TO A RELIGIOUS SERVICE THAT SPECIFICALLY OMITS JESUS CHRIST AND FORCES THEIR FELLOW BELIEVERS – MESSIANIC JEWS – TO GO TO BE SEGREGATED INTO THEIR OWN SECTIONS JUST AS BLACKS WERE DURING JIM CROW! That is right folks, segregation and discrimination against Jews in a matter that would never be tolerated in the politically correct evangelical church against blacks, Hispanics, or even increasingly homosexuals is being perpetrated against Jews that believe in Jesus Christ. AND IF THAT IS NOT ANTI – SEMITISM AND ANTI – JUDAISM, WHAT IS?

I have to tell you, the only way that Christians would allow not only our Messianic Jewish brethren but the Name of Jesus Christ to suffer such ill treatment would be doctrinal confusion that causes them to believe that conservative Jews are “kinda sorta born again, or will be accepted by God in some way even if they aren’t.” Otherwise, what is the reason? What is the justification? The irony is that some of these same people were criticizing Rick Warren for allowing Barack HUSSEIN Obama and Hillary Clinton to speak at his TOTALLY SECULAR conference on AIDS are participating in this day of prayer. So what more proof do we need that the anti – Christ spirit is acting through and using the religious right in America? And why aren’t more of us rending our clothes over it?
