Jesus Christ Is Lord

That every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father!

Why Does The Media Focus Only On Harold Camping?

Posted by Job on May 26, 2011

Yes, Harold Camping has been exposed as a false prophet, deceiving many as concerning the timing of the second coming of Jesus Christ. Again. Yes, his deception has caused lots of problems and unnecessary harm, especially for his followers. Again. The question is this: what is the big deal? Why has Camping been the subject of such media attention for months when there are so many pressing stories to cover i.e. wars, famines, diseases, natural disasters, economic failures, political intrigues etc. on a global scale? Clearly the media has an agenda, but what is it?

First off, for the sake of sound doctrine, let it be known that the return of Jesus Christ will not occur until A) the gospel has been taken to all nations and B) a great apostasy, a great falling away from the true faith, occurs. As the great commission is a primary duty of the church, it logical to conclude that the falling away will occur shortly after the great commission is fulfilled, or when the great commission’s fulfillment and with it the time of the Gentiles draws to a close. Anyone who extricates themselves from rapture watching and religious right (or religious left) politics long enough to pay attention to the global missions movements knows that barring a fantastic miracle we are at least 100 years from fulfilling the great commission (the 10/40 window alone is an amazing challenge) and – despite the claims of Camping otherwise – far from there being a great falling away, there are more Christians – or definitely appreciable numbers of Christians in more places – today than at any time in history. So, if we can learn anything from this Camping episode, it is that we should heed the words given by angels and recorded by the physician Luke at the direction of God the Holy Spirit “why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” That was an exhortation to cease waiting for eternity and to get on with the business of living for eternity by loving Jesus Christ and walking in His ways.

With that out of the way, let it further be said that the error of Camping does not undermine the authority of the Bible, Jesus Christ or His church but rather confirms it. How? Because the Bible repeatedly warns against false teachers, including those who would lead people into error concerning His second coming. Jesus Christ said that “false prophets shall deceive many” in Matthew 24:5, and that many will be offended by the true faith in Matthew 24:10. Such false teachings were present even while the New Testament was being written, as the apostle Peter referenced them in 2 Peter 3:4, the apostle John did the same in 1 John 2:18, and the apostle Paul did the same in 2 Thessalonians 2.  Further, Jesus Christ predicted such specifically in Matthew 24:4-5! The New Testament makes it clear that we identify false teachers when they teach things that are in contradiction to the Bible. This truth is what drove William Tyndale to martyrdom, when he stated “I defy the Pope and all his laws. If God spare my life ere many years, I will cause the boy that drives the plow to know more of the scriptures than you!” in response to being told that common people didn’t need to be knowledgeable concerning the Bible’s contents, because it was better to obey the pope than the Bible anyway. So, in rejecting Jesus Christ when He stated that none knows the timing of His return save God the Father (Matthew 24:36), and in rejecting Jesus Christ when He stated that the great commission will be fulfilled before He returns (Matthew 24:14) and in rejecting the Holy Spirit’s inspiration of Paul concerning the falling away first in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, this Camping teaches against things concerning God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, and by his doing so and attracting so many followers he verifies the pages of the New Testament when it said that such a thing would happen. So, Camping did not harm the authenticity or integrity of the Bible by being wrong, but rather verified the Bible’s truth! Instead, Camping’s being RIGHT would have been an occasion to challenge the veracity of the Bible, for were Jesus Christ to return before we reach the many tribes in the 10/40 window or while there are tens of millions of believers risking persecution to worship in Africa and Asia, what would be said of those Bible texts?

So, make no mistake, there is nothing special about Camping. Was not just over ten years ago when there were tons of false prophets claiming based on Bible codes and numerology that Jesus Christ was going to return in 2000? (Never mind that the Bible doesn’t follow our modern calendars, and that Bede almost certainly incorrectly calculated the date of the birth of Jesus Christ that we use for “B.C.” and “A.D.” anyway). Or about 25 years ago Jesus Christ was going to return because it was 40 years after of the establishment of the modern state of Israel? (Never mind that Jesus Christ spoke “this generation” to the Jews of His own time concerning the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D., and if the Bible actually does speak of the restoration of the political nation of Israel, it does not link this event to any timetable concerning Christ’s return.) So why all the fuss and the furor? It has to serve some sort of media agenda.

Consider this: how come when the subject in view is Usama bin Laden or some other Muslim terrorist, the media is quick to say “he isn’t a real Muslim” or “he doesn’t represent mainstream Islam that is practiced by hundreds of millions of peaceful followers”, but the media is quick to depict Camping as being in or near the mainstream of evangelical and fundamental Christians? In truth, as Camping rejects the Holy Trinity, he shouldn’t be classified as Christian at all. Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Muslims and Jews all reject the Holy Trinity, a core foundational doctrine of Christianity that sets it apart from other religions that are either polytheistic or present a false teaching on God’s Unity. But while the media does its best to present Islam and increasingly Mormonism as moderate and mainstream, it uses Camping to create a wild eyed, dangerous fanatical face for Bible-believing Christianity.

Another thing: it isn’t as if Camping is the only false prophet or source of wrong information. Far from it. It is just that when so many others get things wrong and are exposed for their false, anti-Biblical thinking, nothing is ever said about it. Instead, the media, the academy, the elites simply move on. (Or they carry on as if the error was never made.) Consider liberal Christianity, such as the critical “scholars.” Barely a year goes by when an archaeological find of a Biblical site or a scientific breakthrough that confirms Biblical truth or discovery of early manuscripts verifying the existence of historical persons, places and the integrity of Biblical texts that the critical scholars challenged, yet the critical scholars are still accepted as scholars, and their methods – which would never be used in any other field because of their ascientific nature – accepted as reliable.

But that is just the Bible, right? Wrong. Take psychology. The theories of giants in that field like Sigmund Freud and Alfred Kinsey have long been discredited. Yet they are still revered as having made great contributions to science, modern thought and human progress, and furthermore their discredited theories are still being taught as fact in our schools and universities. But psychology, save when it is based on experimentation and observation and does not deal with brain’s biology and chemistry, is a “soft science”, right? Sure, except that the theories in the hard sciences like physics and biology turn up erroneous also. Our schools still teach the long-discredited false leads in evolution theory, i.e. the “evolutionary timeline tree chart” that has long been abandoned as unworkable, and fossils allegedly showing primates evolving into humans that were actually either diseased humans or other animals as fact. You would be surprised to know how many of the things that were taught in science class has been quietly abandoned, how much more needs to be pushed from the classroom, and would be if the media held that community to the same scrutiny that it does evangelical and fundamental Christianity.

But that is just arcane science that has little relevance to our daily lives, so what harm does it do? Fine, except that the realm of false prophets also exists in government and policy. Many fantastic, dire predictions have been made and influenced the direction of governments and leaders to who knows what ends. Example? Global warming. Except that they couldn’t call it “global warming” anymore when many places in the world started experiencing prolonged unseasonably cold weather! So, the cause of the cold weather was attributed to greenhouse gas emissions also and “global warming” became “climate change.” I remember a specific prediction from the global warming prophets that had a lot of people frightened: after Hurricane Katrina and other large, powerful destructive hurricanes in 2005, the global warming community (the “climate change” moniker had not yet been instituted) claimed that the increase in the power and severity of the storms were caused by global warming, and that we could expect worse storms – and more of them – thereafter. They predicted that the hurricane season of 2006 was going to be one of the worst in history! All their models said so! What happened? We haven’t had anything approaching Katrina since.

Another example: peak oil. The experts a few decades back claimed that we had maxed out our oil production, that we had exploited the main reserves, that oil production was heading for an inevitable decline, and that we needed to alter our lifestyles and change our way of life to conserve what oil was left or face a global energy crisis. A few years after those dire predictions, some of the largest oil reserves in history were discovered, as well as technological breakthroughs for accessing oil, and possible new sources of oil, such as from shale and sand. (Do not mistake me for an oil company and fossil fuels advocate, quite the contrary I am fully supportive of alternative energy, and believe that a lot of great technology in that area is not being exploited.) And there was also the “overpopulation crisis.” It was promoted by folks who believed that if the world’s population reached 4 billion, it would become unsustainable, and the result would be mass famines and starvation, diseases, wars and environmental degradation. The only solution was immediate global population control programs! Well, now the world population is 6.75 billion and counting.

There is more. Remember when mad cow disease was going to ravage our food supply? Oprah Winfrey said “I’ll never eat a hamburger again!” (Of course, these folks OPPOSE abstinence from fornication as a defense against sexually transmitted disease as the Bible commands, but constantly promotes abstinence from eating the animals that God gave us dominion over and called lawful to eat.) Remember when bird flu was going to kill thousands, or tens of thousands? What about swine flu? Brought to you by the same false prophets who told you to run out and buy cellophane and masking tape to protect yourself from a nuclear terrorist attack after September 11th.

The prophets told us in the 1980s that AIDS was going to wipe out a significant portion of the U.S. population with little or no regard for lifestyle, and needless to say they were wrong, as AIDS rates only increased among homosexuals, the promiscuous and drug users while declining for everyone else. The lead false prophet was surgeon general C. Everett Koop, who used this false information to promote sex education and condom giveaways in schools starting in 3rd grade. Speaking of sex education, the false prophets told us that it would drastically reduce the venereal disease and teen/out of wedlock pregnancy rates, and it did neither. Instead, both shot through the roof, and further there are now new venereal diseases that even condom manufacturers acknowledge their products are useless against (not that you will ever hear that in any public school sex education program).

But wait, there’s more. The prophets told us that abandoning classical education for new education reforms (often based on Freudian or Marxist theories) would lead to markedly improved results and a transformation of society. They were totally wrong, American academic achievement has fallen off the map, and no one talks about it. The prophets told us that divorce and illegitimacy were GOOD for women, children and even most men, but education, poverty, drug use and incarceration rates say otherwise. The prophets claimed that we could eliminate racism through education. How is that working out? They claimed that we could eliminate poverty through government action, and now not only is poverty still a reality (as Jesus Christ said it would in Mark 14:7, not a favorite text among liberal theologians!) but unprecedented numbers of people in America and worldwide are reliant on government assistance of some kind. The false prophets also claimed that the triumph of Soviet communism was inevitable, and the best course of action was resignation, acceptance and learning from and becoming more like them, only to have the Soviet Union collapse and many remaining Marxist regimes like China and Viet Nam adopt more capitalistic economies. Those who predicted that the war on drugs and the war on terror (especially Afghanistan and Iraq) could be effectively and quickly won? Whatever happened to them?

The sociologists who said that eliminating censorship laws and allowing the free trafficking of pornography would make us more progressive and improve relations between the sexes? They have been nowhere to be found as rapists, child molesters and other sex criminals have proliferated, multiplying like rats. The social theorists who claimed that putting criminals in jail wouldn’t lower crime rates because the root causes were economic? Wrong, and verified when crime rates still remained lower despite two severe recessions and deep cuts in social services. (Well, street crime is lower anyway. White collar crime, the rich in their vain attempt to sate their lust for greed, remains through the roof. But the Bible said that this would happen concerning the wealthy also … see the book of James, which is not a favorite among political conservatives or those who teach the false prosperity gospel.) And another example: remember Barack HUSSEIN Obama’s claim that we had to immediately adopt a stimulus package to keep unemployment from hitting 8%? Unemployment has been at or near 10% for over two years! Anti-Christ? Probably not. False prophet? Definitely.

So, on one hand you have ONE Harold Camping, who again due to his rejection of the Holy Trinity and of many Bible texts (he forbids his followers from fellowshipping in local churches in violation of Hebrews 10:25) should not be considered a Christian is a false prophet. On the other hand, you have MANY worldly prophets who due to their embrace of ungodly, anti-Biblical ideas, doctrines, philosophies and imaginations that exalt themselves against God (2 Corinthians 10:5) that are utterly, totally and completely wrong all the time. Now both groups of false prophets are wrong for the same reason: their rejection of Biblical revelation as true, infallible, inerrant, and the final authority in all matters, and not merely things necessary for salvation. But the media and the elites shine the light on Camping to defame and discredit Christians who actually do adhere to the Bible while doing their best to cover up the fact that they so wrong so often on so many issues to the great harm of so many is appalling. It is hypocrisy at best, and a conspiratorial cover-up at worst. If anything, talking about Camping gives them an excuse to keep from having to address the huge mess that these folks have made of the economies, governments and societies of the world. Further, it allows them to transfer the blame from their failed policies – and the rejection of Jesus Christ and the Bible which reveals Him ideology that motivate them – to Christians, as if Christians are undermining their efforts.

Christians, for instance, are blamed for illegitimacy by opposing sex education. Christians are blamed for AIDS by opposing homosexuality. Christians are blamed for poor educational performance for opposing evolution. Christians are blamed for global warming for opposing climate change legislation. Christians are blamed for the wars and tension in the Middle East for supporting Israel and not a Palestinian state (by the way, I reject Zionism, and “Christian” Zionism is especially repugnant to what the Bible actually says, and John Hagee and not a few other false prophets follow this flawed school of interpretation). Christians are called misogynist for adhering to what the Bible says about the roles concerning men and women in the church, in marriages and homes and in society, and for opposing the murder of abortion. Christians are blamed for “Islamophobia” and “anti-Semitism” and “anti-Mormonism” for refusing to deny that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven, and accused of undermining cultures with our missionary work. And the list goes on and on.

And it is only going to increase. As more and more ideas based on a rejection of the Bible and even of general revelation (see Romans 1:18-32) causes still more decline and failure, anger will increase against Christians. As the world continues to reap the fruit of the sin and wickedness that it sows, it will increasingly see Christians as scapegoats. Instead of repenting of their sins and acknowledging those as the true source of the misery and calamity, the blame will be on Christians for failing to get with the program.

This will climax in first sporadic but then general and organized attempts to silence Christians and remove us from their midst, in the hopes of keeping us from hindering their “progress.” This is far-fetched, you say? Not in the least, because it has already happened. An example is not merely the brutal repression and murder of Christians on a massive scale in the Soviet Union, China, Germany, Sudan and other totalitarian (whether Marxist, Muslim or fascist) regimes in the last century, but the experience of the church in the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire’s wealth, power and culture were declining due to the decadence and incompetence of its ruling classes, and from Nero to Decius, they saw Christians as a scapegoat.

The legitimate Christians refused to join in their state religion (an odd mix of paganism and patriotism not dissimilar from what goes on in our country today, including in not a few churches) so the Roman “gods” were angry. The Christians refused to join in their public activities (regrettably this is not a mark of contemporary Christianity!) so they were called “divisive” and were accused of undermining the common culture (in addition to not being patriotic!) that was allegedly needed to have a cohesive, strong empire. And Christians preached and taught against the immorality, wickedness and depravity of the people, the rulers and the times. They preached against the rampant adultery, homosexuality, violence and child molestation. They preached against the wanton excesses of the upper classes (again, not a mark of contemporary evangelical Christianity, unless the upper classes in view are Hollywood, government bureaucrats and other liberal elites). And they preached against paganism, not only by the people but the official state religion (again, the evangelical Christian preacher who even speaks of the freemasonry and occult that was vital to this nation’s founding and has been influential in it ever since is rare).

Then, the persecution began as sporadic and localized, but climaxed in a brutal, sustained attempt to completely rid the Roman Empire of Christianity. And despite the estimated ten million Christians that were killed by the Roman Empire (something that you will never see mentioned in history books or depicted in movies, as they are more wont to depict Christians as murderous crusaders and the like) and the carnage of the past hundred years, that is only a shadow of the real bloodbath to come. You see, unlike Harold Camping, I do not adhere to a rapture belief. Instead, I believe the Bible when it says that when the anti-Christ comes, it will be given to him to make war against the saints, and to overcome them. I believe the Bible when it says that the time of tribulation, of great sorrows, will be of such severity that it will be cut short so that the saints, the elect, will survive it. And I believe that the saints that were mentioned in Revelation and Matthew 24 that will see that horrible time are not Jews, or those converted by Jews during the great tribulation, but Christians.

And that is what it is all about. That is why turning an obscure preacher with questionable doctrine into an international news story lasting several cycles was done. It is why Westboro Baptist Church, a cult that has existed for decades, is only now becoming international news. It is why Terry Jones, an obscure leader of a small congregation, became an international pariah for burning a Koran when not only Muslims but the United States military routinely burns Bibles!

It is why terrorists attacks committed by atheists like Timothy McVeigh and Eric Rudolph are attributed to Christians. It is why violence against abortion clinics and doctors is an issue oft raised against Christians despite the fact that less than 5 such incidents have occurred in over 20 years, and only 1 in the past 10. The Hutaree militia drew headlines and a massive sting operation from the federal government as a Christian terrorism threat to rival that posed by Al Qaeda, and it turned out to be just a bunch of guys spinning yarns over the Internet.  Yet, the Marxist “liberation theology” types, not a few of whom were trained Soviet infiltrators, fanned the flames for any number of bloody murderous third world Marxist coups with their organizing and “preaching”, and the truth about their activities – and the level of support that they received from their ideological and religious fellow travelers in the U.S. – has never been documented by the media, Hollywood or our schools. Neither has the true history of our own “civil rights movement” – how it duped the black church and many well meaning white Americans into supporting Marxist subversive tactics, and how that movement was also organized by and rife with Soviet agents and sympathizers – been told, and nor can you expect them to spill the beans on their own false prophets.

The agitation propaganda against Christians will continue in the future just as it did in the Roman Empire. Christians should be heedful of the times, which means that we must be aware of what is going on, aware of where it is headed, and aware of whose agenda it is serving. That is why Christians should end these “battles” over “being represented in Hollywood” and the “culture wars” and “religious right politics” (and religious left politics) in favor of opening our eyes to the true state of affairs. Instead, we should study our Bibles, study about the early church during its time of persecution before Christianity was co-opted by the Roman Empire so that by learning about the church’s past, we can learn about the future – our future. Of course, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ will win in the end and vindicate and save His church. But make no mistake: just as Jesus Christ suffered Gethsemane and His passion before His resurrection and glorification, the church, being less than its Master Jesus Christ, must also suffer many things. Christians must be prepared so that we might stand during the time to come, and endure to the end. This is a battle that will be won not by guns, money or governments but by faith in the God who is fighting on our side and prevail.

It must be asked: which side are you on? The side of God, or of the wicked? Though Camping was wrong, his error only proved the Bible to be correct. The Bible makes it clear that the wicked perish and that Jesus Christ and those who believe in Him will triumph. If you do not believe in Jesus Christ, make no mistake, you will be counted among the wicked, because no matter how good you perceive yourself to be, before a holy and perfect God you are a sinner. I urge you, repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Third Wave Pentecostalism And Why Miracles And Signs Exist

Posted by Job on August 11, 2008

I cannot say that I am surprised, because he also endorsed the Pensacola and Brownsville revivals and the Toronto Airport Christian fellowship, but Sid Roth is fully aligned with the third wave pentecostal movement in his endorsement of Todd Bentley. See this link on his website. Yep, Sid Roth is yet another one of the prosperity/Word of Faith teachers that I used to watch religiously and send money to. I continued to support Roth even after I began to turn away from the likes of the Crouch family, T. D. Jakes, etc. because I did not see where any of the discernment or apologetics ministries had addressed him. Also, I must admit that I hesitated because I personally believed in Roth’s ministry and especially his powerful testimony because it was so similar to my own! But I have to follow God rather than man, and that includes the desires of my own heart! Looking below, it appears that Roth has been supporting Bentley ever since at least 2007, because the fellow has at least 16 articles authored by Bentley on his website.

What is the third wave? Here is a fundamental Christian viewpoint:

1. Its History

In the early 1980s the Vineyard Christian Fellowship movement began with the ministry of John Wimber in California. He believed that people would become convinced of the genuineness of Christianity by seeing miraculous signs and wonders from God more than by being convinced doctrinally. He not only practiced this belief in the church he pastored, but he also teamed up with missions professor Peter Wagner to teach and encourage its practice in the Signs and Wonders class at Fuller Seminary. Others who emphasized these signs and wonders include Christian psychologist and speaker John White, former Dallas Seminary professor Jack Deere, and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School faculty member Wayne Grudem. Support for this emphasis has also come from the ministries of such recognized Christian leaders as John Piper.

2. Distinctive Views

The movement’s supporters come from various evangelical backgrounds and do not necessarily want to be identified with traditional man-centered Pentecostal views. Some, in fact, have strong Calvinistic convictions. But all stress the presence of genuine signs and wonders from God today. Tongues-speaking is not emphasized as much as in the more traditional Pentecostal groups, but healings and especially the gift of prophecy are very prominent.

D. Other Contemporary Charismatic Emphases

Also present in more recent years are the ministries of several others who have a strongly charismatic approach and emphasis. These include those who emphasize a “health and wealth” gospel; the ministries of charismatic teachers such as Benny Hinn, Kenneth Hagin, and Kenneth Copeland; and the current ministries of Oral and Richard Roberts, John Arnott and the Toronto Blessing, Paul Cain and the Kansas City Prophets, and Rodney Howard-Browne and John Kilpatrick of the Brownsville Assembly of God Church and the Pensacola Outpouring Revival.

For more, please see George Houghton’s part 1 and part 2 on the topic of Pentecostalism in general. I am aware that some have accused me of being opposed to the supernatural, of miracles. To answer those charges, read my testimonies part 1 and part 2 of miraculous faith healing from asthma, addiction, and a lung infection that doctors could not cure, killed several other people around the same time (including the actress that played the bride in “Meet The Parents”), and had stopped my breathing (I was minutes away from dying people). Also search my archives and take notice of how LEGITIMATE faith healing, miracles, and deliverance from evil spirits is a major area of attention of mine (regrettably I have gotten away from those topics in these past months and need to get back into them).

But I must say that I was motivated to finally deal with Sid Roth after seeing him promote a pastor who claims that during his worship services, angel feathers, gold dust, and precious jewels would appear out of thin air. The pastor was also selling a book – with companion DVD – claiming to have discovered in scripture the secret for unlocking the power of God in your life that he was using to bring forth these manifestations (it is humility). Let me first state that Christianity IS NOT a secret religion. It is based on revelation from the Bible that is freely available to all. People speaking of finding secrets and unlocking spiritual keys are actually practicing gnosticism, which is based on using gnosis (secret knowledge) to advance spiritually and attain salvation. Gnostics were syncretists who assimilated elements of virtually every religion and belief system of the time that suited them in order to create their own abominations. And no, the gnostics did not invent the notion of secret or magical spiritual keys or codes embedded in religious texts. That idea long predated them, coming from the ancient near east mystery religions and cults. Basically, gnosticism was a mixture of Christianity, Judaism, and western (especially Greek) mythology and philosophy, and who knows what else. So, the third wavers that are convinced that they are finding some new – or rediscovering some lost – way of reading the Bible and worshiping God through Jesus Christ under the Holy Spirit are actually just rehashing the same vile dark deceptions that John, Jude, Paul, etc. took up most of the New Testament contending against. So much of what we know about Christian doctrine and practice in the New Testament was not information volunteered at the author’s initiative, but rather came from an apostle writing an epistle to oppose some lie that people claiming to have secret knowledge or special revelation was passing around!

But the primary issue that must be dealt with is the erroneous fascination of third wave pentecostals on signs and wonders: miracles and revelation. The reason is that it is BACKWARDS. This fascination is due to faithlessness by the alleged faithful. If you truly believe nothing else in the Bible but Genesis 1:1, the idea that God can work a miracle should be presupposed, basic, nothing to get excited over. Why? Because it is merely God changing something in the natural realm that He created in the first place … very often things that would change anyway without a miracle! Further, not everyone who witnesses a miracle responds with faith. Case in point: the Pharisees. Despite all that Jesus Christ did, they kept telling Him “OK, just do one more miracle or give us one more sign and THEN we will believe that you are the Messiah.” The Pharisees were simply the spiritual descendants of the children of Israel who refused to enter Canaan after seeing God work the greatest miracles that the world had ever seen to crush the greatest empire of the world AND miraculously sustain them with food and water AND the glory of God on Sinai AND the rock that followed them AND the pillar of fire by night/cloud by day that guided them. What was the problem with those Israelites? Well the least favorite book of this movement, the Book of Hebrews (which says that revelation was completed and ended with Jesus Christ in its opening verses … or maybe 1 Corinthians with its denunciations of confusion and disorder in the church are the least favorite!) it is FAITHLESSNESS. If the basis of your Christian doctrine and affiliation is miracles and signs, trust me, it is never going to be enough, because just like a glutton with a piece of pie or a fornicator and sex partners or a greedy man and dollar bills, you will never be satisfied, you will always seek JUST ONE MORE no matter how much you have already had!

So, the FAITHFUL who know well and good that God can perform miracles on the natural order … we praise and glorify God over those things true, but those are not the things that we focus on, not the least because evil spirits can emulate those. Do not be offended! Evil spirits emulated several of the signs and wonders of YHWH in Egypt during their contest with Moses. People follow false religions for a reason! And the Bible itself says that the anti-Christ will deceive the whole world with his evil fantastic works, and that but for the grace of God even the very elect would be deceived by him also!

So no, those who truly believe in God are not after by angel feathers, gold dust, and jewels popping up out of thin air! We are not after new visions, revelations, and secrets. Why? The reason is that those things, while impressive to behold, have no lasting value. They are not the things that the kingdom of heaven is built on. So what true believers love to see and hear about are CHANGED HEARTS as evidenced by CHANGED BEHAVIOR. Unbelievers hearing the gospel and getting saved. People confessing their sins and turning from them rather than using their works, church membership, background, or “anointing” to justify remaining in them. People overcoming the grief of losing a loved one. People forgiving those that have done them grievously wrong. The fearful becoming bold, the haters becoming lovers. THAT is what Christians should seek after and try to participate in. And those are what we Christians should be after. For it is a certainty that demons can motivate tongues and private prayer languages. That goes on in Hindu temples all the time! I have no doubt that a demon can cure – or at least temporarily alleviate – physical ailments. Were that not the case witch doctors, rootworkers, medicine men and women, etc. would go out of business tomorrow. The same with the diviners, necromancers, fortune tellers, etc. People have been seeking out mighty wonders, strange works, new revelations, etc. ever since man rejected the knowledge of God as Paul told us in Romans 1:18-32 for a reason! Not a few missionaries can relate dark spiritual happenings involving the demons that work through those false religions that would curl your hair even if you were bald! Check out “And The Word Came With Power” by missionary Jo Anne Shetler if you doubt. But an evil spirit cannot save someone’s soul or change their heart! So why put all the emphasis on the things that Satan can imitate while ignoring the things that he cannot? I don’t know about you, but while hearing testimonies about people delivered from asthma personally touch me because I was healed of the same, what I really love hearing about is testimonies of God delivering them from selfishness, hate, pride, lying, meanness, sloth, lust, and irresponsibility, for those character flaws and many more I had them, and let me tell you they were much more destructive to me and those around me than my asthma was!

So then, why DO miracles and revelation occur? Why does God work them? Let me start with my own personal testimony and go from there: God healed my body as part of His plan to draw me to Him and save me from my sins. And that corresponds to the Biblical record. God was not some two bit Las Vegas entertainer performing tricks for the ooohs and aaahs of alcoholics, adulterers, and gamblers. Some say every miracle, every revelation, every prophecy regarded in the Bible played a part in salvation – redemption history, a rough English translation for the German term Heilsgeschichte, God’s plan to redeem mankind from His sin. Others take a broader view and say that it was part of God’s plan to reveal Himself to mankind, with the ultimate and final revelation being His Son Jesus Christ. So, God parting the Red Sea was a salvation – historic act to deliver Israel, His elect nation that He planned to use to be a light to all nations and use to incarnate Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ’s healing the Gentile woman’s daughter in Matthew 15:21-28 was an act of revealing both God’s love and mercy to mankind. Peter’s vision while on the tanner’s rooftop was God letting the Jews know that Jesus Christ came to bring salvation to the Gentiles as well as the Jews. You want to know about the importance of the floating axhead? Well try this link. Ultimately, God had a higher purpose for every miracle, every prophecy, every vision in the Bible. They were not done because people like to see visions. They were done to reveal Himself to sinful men living in a sinful world so that His chosen among them would turn to Him.

The main thing to remember, third wave charismatics, is that the Bible makes it clear that everyone who works mighty works even in the Name of Jesus Christ will be saved. See Matthew 7:21-23! The Bible even makes it clear that everyone who receives a miracle in the Name of Jesus Christ will be saved! Remember the ten lepers! They all had faith to be healed by Jesus Christ. They were all healed by Jesus Christ. BUT ONLY ONE LEPER BOTHERED TO FALL AT THE FEET OF GOD AND GIVE HIM THANKS! Are you going to allege that a person who is not thankful for the work and person of Jesus Christ is going to be saved by Him? And let me tell you about the one … HE WAS A GENTILE! Let me tell you about the nine … THEY WERE JEWS! Do not misunderstand me, I am not going anti – Semite on you here. Just let me put it into the context. The Jews were in it for the miracle, the Gentile was in it for the God who worked the miracle! So, the Jews in it for the miracle in this story represent church folk who continually need to see signs and wonders to have some semblance of outward faith. In other words: THIRD WAVE CHARISMATICS AND ALL LIKE THEM WHO WILL ABANDON TWO THOUSAND YEARS OF SOUND DOCTRINE BASED ON THE BIBLE TO FOLLOW EMMA THE ANGEL AND SOME MAN WHO KICKS A STOMACH CANCER PATIENT IN THE GUT AND THE GUY DOES NOT EVEN GET HEALED! But Gentile in this story represents the person not in the church who repents and follows Jesus Christ not because they were looking for a miracle, but because they were seeking the God that works the miracle!

And guess what? At the beginning of the leper story, all ten were unsaved. Both groups were all in the same boat. But by the end of the story, only one group was saved, and the other group was unsaved. Can you guess based not on my words but on your knowledge of the Bible which group was saved and which group wasn’t? And after you do that, apply that Sunday school Bible story to your own life situation and ask yourself which group YOU are in!

Jephthah In Judges: Why You Cannot Bribe God!

Posted by Job on May 12, 2008

Have you ever tried to bargain with God? Negotiate with Him? Have you ever made your service to Him conditional? Let me give you an example: have you ever prayed to God and told Him: “Lord, if you give me this I will do that for you”? “Lord, if you get me out of this situation, I will serve you for the rest of my life?”

Such tactics are commonly practiced in Christianity, and reinforced not only by the sermons and devotionals of so many preachers but even in depictions of Christians in the popular culture i.e. media, literature, etc. As a result, Christians are unaware that this has no resemblance whatsoever to Biblical Christianity. Instead, the concept of bribing God with oaths, promises, sacrifices, tithes, works, service, etc. was imported into Christianity from paganism. The few examples of where anything like this was done by servants of God was in cases where the person making the request had not actively been serving God and for that reason had little knowledge of the true nature of God. Such examples include Moses at the burning bush, Gideon’s demanding that the angel demonstrate to him that God had legitimately called him, Samuel’s sacrifice before a battle rather than waiting on Samuel, and Jephthah’s oath. The behavior of these men before – and in the cases of Gideon, Samuel and Jephthah after – being used by God to fight battles demonstrates that their dealmaking ways before the God of heaven should not be our model for Christian practice and service.

The principle that we can treat God as a corrupt mafia boss or politician that we can bribe or some equal that we can barter with is integral to the prosperity doctrine, the Word of Faith, and much of the way that Christianity, especially charismatic and Roman Catholic Christianity, is practiced in general: doctrines and attitudes that take the God of Heaven as some pagan genie in a lamp. I referenced paganism because the document below makes it clear that treating deities in this manner is part of pagan religious systems, and the children of Israel began to emulate this practice by way of viewing the pagan people around them that God warned to drive out. As a result, they forgot about the true nature of the true God and began treating and serving God as if He were Baal. So though they knew the Name of God and called upon His Name and God would answer because they were His people through His covenant with Abraham, they did not personally know God, because their relationship with Him was not after the way God had revealed Himself to Abraham, Moses, etc. Instead, they were trying to relate to God the same way that people in false religions attempt to relate to their false deities. That is a major danger with syncretism (i.e. Yahweh yoga) and a major problem with false Christian doctrines and systems (i.e. Roman Catholicism, a great deal of charismatic Christianity especially the Word of Faith and prosperity doctrines).

People, this document also demonstrates that not everyone who works miracles and does mighty acts in the Name of Jesus Christ is a called servant of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said so about such people Himself in Matthew 21:31-46! So, supporters of the Benny Hinn Oral Roberts Kenneth Hagin Kenneth Copeland – style preachers, take note!

National Religious Broadcasters Using Oneness Modalist Heretic TD Jakes To Get Out The Vote

Posted by Job on May 12, 2008

Driving to work this morning viewing the effects of the terrible thunderstorms that spared my neighborhood but hard hit the one right next to mine, I was listening to Christian radio. Out of the blue comes TD Jakes’ booming voice. In it, he first speaks of how much he loves America and so forth. I immediately thought of Jakes doing this to exploit anger over Barack Hussein Obama, Michelle Obama, and Jeremiah Wright’s considerably less than jingoistic statements and actions. Then he went into his exhortation spiel for people to register and get out to vote.

First, I see Lifeway Bookstores, owned by the Southern Baptist Convention, selling TD Jakes’ doctrinal error (oneness pentecostalism and the Word of Faith/prosperity doctrine are but a few of his MANY problems) and now the National Religious Broadcasters are using this guy. I had been using the NRB as a sort of a refuge from the blatant charismania that you will find on The Word Network, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Daystar, etc. So I just ignored the heavy Pat Robertson presence on the channel, as well as their “white Europeans are the descendants of the children of Israel … the Danube River is so named because of the tribe of Dan” show that comes on early in the morning. I also ignored their embrace of the Ellen White Seventh Day Adventist cult. So I suppose that I cannot cast NRB aside on Jakes’ account, since the ones that I just named are hardly better – if anything some might be worse – or else I would be reacting out of a personal dislike for Jakes rather than on principle. (On the other hand, Slice of Laodicea has criticized NRB, albeit for different reasons, such as this post stating that not one red cent of NRB’s $5 BILLION IN ASSETS is being used to defend the faith from Oprah Winfrey.)

Incidentally, speaking of TD Jakes and PR spots, he has another one out (I did not catch the sponsor!) promoting single sex education, saying that “boys need their own schools so that they will be able to, you know, romp and stuff (his choice of words not mine!) and that boys learn differently from girls and needed their own classrooms in order to be accommodated. So … it looks like Jakes is not that far removed from Jeremiah Wright’s separatist doctrines after all?

I have to be honest, back when I was part of the religious right and allowing my worldview to be shaped by the Washington Times and the National Review, I was in full agreement. But now … I just recall reading about this inner city public school that went all male. Sure, the discipline problems decreased and the test scores went up. But when they interviewed the boys that attended the school, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WANTED THEM TO BRING THE GIRLS BACK! Why? Because, er … BOYS LIKE GIRLS! Or at least they are supposed to anyway. Perhaps now that T.D. Jakes is on board with the new world order’s gay rights agenda (and yes this is relevant … perhaps due to his son) he thinks it is OK. To me, the whole single sex education thing … who wants it? Certainly not the kids. Not the administrators or teachers. Parents go for it only because they are desperate for any hook or angle to improve the failing school systems that the government is ruining on purpose. Not even the old fashioned religious sorts – of which I am one – think that it is a good idea anymore, where you were supposed to keep boys and girls separate in their little boarding or finishing schools (where they were supposed to look OH SO CUTE in their little uniforms I guess) UNTIL GRADUATION DAY WHEN YOU MARRY THEM OFF.

Sorry people, but society has changed. Not all of the changes have been for the good, but methinks that one of the most important things for a boy to learn from school is how to treat a lady and how to behave yourself in their presence. For some of us guys, those things do not come naturally, and you only learn them through trial and error. Especially error. (If you don’t learn to handle competition and rejection in junior high and high school, how on earth are you supposed to handle being turned down for jobs, promotions, college choices, etc. later in life?) So … HOW ON EARTH ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO LEARN THOSE THINGS IF THERE ARE NO GIRLS AROUND TO LEARN THEM FROM?

Like I said, TD Jakes may have his own reasons for wanting to turn your local public school into Morehouse College or similar, and whatever they are I oppose them 100%. All the more reason why the Southern Baptist Convention should not be selling this guy’s books and NRB shouldn’t be using him for their get out the vote campaign. But I suppose that this oneness anti – Trinitarian heretic is just too good at making money and moving public opinion for these people to pass up. That is, unless they are actually along with Jakes, on his side. After all, the Southern Baptists refuse to do anything about the likes of New Age heretic Erwin McManus and Council on Foreign Relations worker Rick Warren (and Richard Land too?), and as stated earlier, Al Sharpton Al Gore global warming propagandist partner Pat Robertson is a major partner with the NRB.

Tonex Claims That Michael Jackson And Benny Hinn Have The Same Anointing

Posted by Job on April 22, 2008

I mentioned this earlier in On Needing That Anointing Christianity but I decided to give it its own post for the benefit of the Tonex fans that feel the need to come to this site and defend the fellow from time to time in the hopes that they will realize that their loyalty to this fellow is misplaced. Incidentally, please know that Tonex, after retiring from gospel music because he wasn’t making enough money in it (like the pope’s admitting that he entered the priesthood because he wanted a nice car Tonex freely admitted this on one of his many websites that he keeps creating and deleting), found employment with Michael Jackson as a music producer. That, er, MIGHT EXPLAIN Tonex’s endorsement of the Jehovah’s Witness homosexual child molester Jackson as possessing the gifts of the Holy Spirit and using them to edify and minister to people (as opposed to corrupting small boys).

You know, when I owned Tonex’s Out Tha Box concert DVD (which I finally located a few days ago after MONTHS of not being able to find it, and then immediately threw it out with the trash), one of my favorite tracks on it was “Pole Position”, where he gave a brilliantly crafted and delivered piece of oratory (seriously, the fellow is extremely talented!) exhorting the prosperity/Word of Faith doctrine on how if one continued to tithe and give offerings year after year even through times of great financial distress, eventually God would remember and bless you. He used an analogy with the popular Monopoly board game (I am not making this up!) stating that if you just kept rolling the dice, rolling the dice by being faithful in the prosperity/Word of Faith apostolic doctrines, and eventually you would hit Boardwalk, your big payday.

But alas, it appears from Tonex’s own life that said doctrines have a price, the least of which is having to go on a Christian television show and promote not only Benny Hinn (and please recall that Tonex was also an associate of Eddie Long, calling him a “spiritual father” … funny how these Roman Catholic references keep slipping into this Pentecostal madness) but a known homosexual pedophile. That is the truly sad thing: EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT MICHAEL JACKSON IS A HOMOSEXUAL PEDOPHILE, AND YET IT IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE FOR A PASTOR AND GOSPEL ARTIST TO WORK WITH HIM! Of course, to be fair, Tonex is not the only one. Lots of gospel artists, including Andrae Crouch, used to work with Michael Jackson back in the day. The allegations concerning this fellow were not public then, but what did the “industry insiders” know? Then again, did Andrae Crouch work with Michael Jackson (among others including “impregnate a white woman and leave for the next one Quincy Jones”) before, after, or during the time that Donnie McClurkin was sleeping with the men in his choir? Donnie McClurkin says that he is delivered from homosexuality, but that does not prevent him from pastoring and founding churches after fathering a child out of wedlock and never marrying the mother.

My goodness. At some point someone is going to come out and reveal what a cesspool some quarters of the gospel industry is. Then again, Kirk Franklin already did over ten years ago, and it had absolutely no effect whatsoever. The people are deceived because, quite simply, they choose to be. Which means that they are not being deceived at all. And that is why we MUST continue to pray for them, that they would be delivered not so much from the enemy, but from their own rebellious wicked hearts. I should know, for many sincere Christians, from family members to co – workers, tried to warn me about a lot of these people – including Tonex – for quite awhile before I was willing to let them go. So if God did it for me, He can do it for someone else! That is why we should never cease to pray for the people trapped in their own prisons of selfish rebellion.

By the way, how did it come to be that the black gospel industry became dominated by the charismatic/Pentecostal/COGIC/prosperity/Word of Faith types to begin with? Incidentally, a similar trend is happening with Christian rock and Christian contemporary music, as more and more of its artists are coming from the praise and worship teams of megachurches. But as for black gospel (yes I know that this includes acts like Martha Munizzi, Vicki Yohe, and JoAnn Rosario that are not black, I just refuse to say “urban” or similar) I am told that it is due to the “gospel music workshop” scene for which we have COGIC’s JAMES CLEVELAND to thank for – and please recall that this very scene was very important to launching the career of one Tonex – but I am hoping that someone in the know might be able to tell me.

In any event, yet another video showing the depths to which Tonex has sunk (he has rather savvily had his “The Naked Truth” – related videos that are basically profane megalomaniac rants  – including what some allege are self referential allusions to homosexuality – removed from YouTube it appears).

After Adultery Exposed Bishop Charismatic Michael Reid Leaves British Church BUT KEEPS ARIZONA “MINISTRY”

Posted by Job on April 16, 2008

From Religion News Blog. With his reputation for charismatic sermons, Bishop Michael Reid held sway over a huge congregation on subjects including the virtues of fidelity and family values.

The 64-year-old came to national prominence in 2005 when he spearheaded a campaign against the BBC’s broadcast of the musical Jerry Springer: The Opera. But his Pentecostal church in Brentwood, Essex – one of two ministries he runs with a collective turnover of millions – has been left in disarray after it emerged the married father of three did not practise what he preached.

His flock were left in shock on Saturday after he admitted he had “sinned by committing adultery” and was quitting after more than three decades of service. His wife of 36 years, Ruth, is standing by him and is understood to have accompanied him abroad to his other ministry, in the American state of Arizona.

This is despite the revelations about the eight-year affair (meaning while he hypocritically protested the Springer special he was committing adultery) and rumours she caught her husband with his lover at the £600,000 (about $1.2 million dollars) family home in Brentwood.

Scandal: Sheila Graziano, the 49-year-old mother of two who is the choirmistress (choir director) at Bishop Reid’s church, is believed to be ‘the other woman’

The other woman is believed to be 49-year-old married mother-of-two Sheila Graziano, who worked alongside Bishop Reid as music director at the Peniel Church in Brentwood.

There was no answer yesterday at her £300,000 ($500,000) 1930s semi-detached house a mile from the church.

In a statement to his congregation, Bishop Reid said: “I confess that I have sinned by committing adultery. I recognise that I have failed in my duties and acted in a way that harmed the church. “I apologise to my wife and family and all of you whose trust I have betrayed and ask for your forgiveness and prayers.”

His conduct has caused widespread shock among churchgoers. “I am deeply, deeply stunned,” said one. “Bishop Reid was a guiding light for everyone here.” Another said: “I understand his wife has forgiven him – and we should all follow her lead – but I am very disappointed at his conduct.”

Michael Reid, a former Metropolitan police officer turned insurance salesman, was made a bishop by the International Communion of Charismatic Churches in Nigeria in 1995. He has been head of the Peniel Church for 32 years and had an 800-strong congregation at Michael Reid Ministries.

The organisation also runs a school with around 170 pupils aged two to 19 and a college in Brentwood, as well as a TV ministry. It has been mired in controversy in recent years, amid claims of miracle cures and an allegation – strongly denied – that two young children were beaten by Peniel members. Six members won libel damages in 2003 after a Brentwood councillor described it as a cult and a danger.

A church spokesman said yesterday: “Bishop Reid and his wife are very much together, she has stood by him.  “He really does feel great sorrow and great regret and he tried to reassure us the church would go on, the church family would go on.”  The Reverend Peter Linnecar, who has taken over from Bishop Reid, said: “He has recognised his sin and taken full responsibility for his actions and resigned.

“We believe the gospel of Jesus Christ and that our God is a God of love, forgiveness and restoration from all sin.”

Muslims Murder Christian In Attack On Church In Ethiopia

Posted by Job on March 23, 2008

Ethiopian Muslims Kill Worshiper in Church Attacks
Assaults with machetes nearly behead Christian, leave 23 injured. by Barbara G. Baker

ISTANBUL, Eight Muslims wielding razor-sharp machetes and knives broke into two village churches in southern Ethiopia earlier this month and began wounding worshipers, instantly killing one Christian.

Tulu Mosisa of Kale Hiwot church died after a machete blow nearly beheaded him, according to an eyewitness. Another two members of the Kale Hiwot and Birhane Wongel Baptist churches in the remote village of Nensebo Chebi both lost a hand each in the March 2 attacks, and a 5-year-old boy is still hospitalized after his arm was slashed to the bone.

A total of 23 Christians from the two congregations were injured before local militia officers drove off the attackers, who launched what one observer called “a seemingly well-planned,” simultaneous assault midway through Sunday worship services.

Located 400 kilometers (240 miles) south of the capital Addis Ababa, Nensebo Chebi is a remote village in the Bale Zone of Ethiopia’s predominantly Muslim Oromiya state, eight hours by foot from the nearest town.

Without warning, the assailants stormed into the two churches, located a half-hour’s walk apart from each other in the village. Barring all the doors and windows, they began to strike the worshippers with machetes and knives.

Survivors told a visitor to the region that the victims sustained wounds on their hands, necks, foreheads, legs, arms, shoulders and backs.

Every time the attackers struck someone, the Christian survivors said, they shouted “Allah Akbar!” The two Arabic words, meaning “Allah is greater.” are the beginning of the Muslim call to prayer.

“We were praying, and suddenly I heard people shouting ‘Allah Akbar,” said one father whose little son was critically injured in the attack.

He was then shocked to hear a deep cry from his son.

“My wife assumed our boy was dying, so she threw another son in my arms and ran out of the scene,” he said. “She was crying. It was something terrible to see it [happen to] your own child.”

With his arm now in a cast, the boy remains under hospital care.

Policeman Shot ‘by Mistake’

When one Muslim attacker in the Kale Hiwot church swung his machete at Tulu Mosisa, “it almost separated his head and neck,” an eyewitness said. “The machete blade was so sharp and shining. We had nothing in hand to protect ourselves.”

According to one of the injured Christians who spoke with district administrators three days later from his hospital bed in Awasa, 75 miles away, “When we asked why, they responded by machete.”

“I tried to cover my face, but the machete cut my hand,” he continued. “I don’t know what happened then. All of us ran around and shouted.”

Eventually members of the local militia (volunteers armed by the government to handle small incidents in their villages) arrived at the scene and started firing their guns in the air.

“But it didn’t stop them,” said one wounded Christian. Finally, he said, the militia aimed at one of the attackers, and then they fled.

The injured worshippers included a Christian policeman, who finally managed to grab one of the attackers from behind – but was then hit by gunfire.

“The policeman was almost [about] to take over the man, but he was hit by a gunshot behind his ribs,” an eyewitness told the visitor. Later the militiaman who shot the policeman claimed he had been aiming at the attacker but hit the officer by mistake.

The eyewitness said he did not believe the militia officer’s story, since he then stood by while the attacker regained his machete and slashed the downed policeman on his legs and arms.

“He himself was a Muslim with sympathy [for the attacker],” the Christian eyewitness concluded. “It was another militiaman who stopped them.”

Eight of the most seriously wounded Christians were transferred to a hospital in Awasa, while the policeman was sent for treatment at the Federal Police Referral Hospital in Addis Ababa. After the others received treatment for their injuries at a clinic in Werka, the nearest town eight hours’ walk away, they were sent back home.

None of the attackers have been identified by federal police authorities, although they reportedly have told church leaders that more than 21 suspects have been arrested in connection with the attacks.

In addition, three members of the district administration who allegedly cooperated with the assailants were reportedly taken into police custody.

According to a visitor to the region last week, the congregations of the two Nensebo churches are made up mostly of Protestant converts from Orthodoxy, “with an increasing number of converts from Islam.”

But one local church member declared, “There was no sign of Muslims preparing to attack us.”

Muslims constitute 45 percent of the population in Ethiopia, where a traditionally tolerant version of Islam has been practiced.

But according to the 2007 International Religious Freedom report from the U.S. State Department, the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council continues to express concern over “increasing external Wahhabi influence” on Ethiopia’s Muslims by “Saudi-funded entities and non-governmental organizations.”

Nensebo Chebi is situated amid the predominantly Muslim population of the Oromo tribe, near the 12th century Islamic shrine of the Dire Sheikh Hussein mosque venerated by Ethiopia’s traditional Muslims.

An account in Amharic on the Nensebo attack was reported in the current affairs weekly newspaper Addis Neger, an independent political publication.

Update: Kyle Says:

Obviously it was their fault. IF they only gave to TBN they would have been healthy and wealthy. IF they only had the prayer cloth from Rod Parsley they would have been protected from the machetes. If they held an event with Benny Hinn those killed would have been raised from the dead. If they gave to CBN they could have prayed and the attack would have been thwarted just like Pat Robertson prayed and turned the Hurricane away from the US coastland a few years ago. You see these people are so dirt poor and unable to protect themselves only proves Creflo Dollar is right. Heck! Creflo has a plane and body guards maybe if these poor Ethiopians had faith like that they could have been protected by their body guards and made it out safe in their Gulfstream 5.

God Bless Amerca. – Wink Wink

The Paula White – Rick Hawkins Connection

Posted by Job on March 21, 2008

“Embattled” Paula White and Rick Hawkins “strengthen ties” March 13, 2008 by John

It is a measure of the American Churches blindness that it cannot discern what is going here with Paula White and Rick Hawkins. Having successfully dodged a storm over her “amicable” divorce from Randy White, with no loss of following from her “fans”. Still able to appear on TBN as if she has not done anything to violate minimal Biblical Standards for those who proclaim to be Christian Leaders.

It appears now that Paula White feels comfortable to move on to the next step in her fleshly desires and that is to “shack up” her “ministry” with another so called minister! It would seem the next big announcement will be that she and Rick Hawkins have “married”.

These two people are an absolute disgrace to Christianity! In fact I would be so bold to say that they are not followers of Christ at all as they reflect the works of their true father: Satan himself!

How many thousands if not millions will her behavior have an affect upon? How many millions will look to her behavior as justifiable and the “norm” for not only a supposed Christian Leader, but Christians in general!

The continuing damage this Jezebel does to Christianity is incalculable!

from MySA.com:

TV evangelist and motivational speaker Paula White, whose high-profile ministry is under review by a Senate committee, has forged stronger connections to a San Antonio church, having joined its board of directors and scheduled monthly visits throughout this year.

The nondenominational church, formerly called Family Praise Center, recently changed its name to San Antonio Epicenter, and founder Bishop Rick Hawkins remains its leader.

The Epicenter’s Web site reflects the church’s makeover and highlights White’s branding, including her monthly appearances and use of the church’s stage, remodeled to turn into a TV studio, for her recordings.

“From this stage, a potential 2.3 billion households will be touched throughout the world,” the narrator says in an online video.

The revamping of the church follows several controversies last year, including Hawkins’ divorce, the divorce of his son, Dustin, whom Rick had designated as pastor, and a WOAI investigation in which former church members questioned Hawkins’ integrity as a minister, including his spending of church money.

It alleged he paid former church members to keep quiet, which Hawkins has denied is improper or illegal, given church policy about severance packages for departing staff.

At the first service after the report aired, Hawkins praised the congregation for remaining loyal and reminded them that he already had apologized in church for past “sins and mistakes.”

White co-founded a megachurch in Tampa with her now-former husband, Randy White. The couple announced an amicable divorce last fall, saying no infidelity took place but sparking a debate among evangelicals about whether the breakup was appropriate.

Her expensive lifestyle, which includes a Trump Tower condo and a ministry jet, also has been fodder for public comment. She and her ex-husband are among six multimillion-dollar ministries that Sen. Chuck Grassley is individually reviewing in an inquiry about their compliance with non-profit tax policy.

White has defended her high-dollar ministry income as a blessing from God to accomplish his work, noting her donations to the disadvantaged worldwide.

White’s ministry spokeswoman Sheila Withum and her public relations agency WDC Media said White was not available for comment. Calls and e-mails to Will Norris, Epicenter’s spokesman and a staff pastor, were not returned.

All six TV ministers, including White, espouse some form of the so-called prosperity gospel, which emphasizes a message that God provides financial rewards for those committed to regular donations to their churches and ministries.

The Whites are among four of the ministries that the committee has reported as not cooperating with its requests for financial information, prompting the committee recently to prepare another round of requests and fueling speculation that subpoenas eventually could be sought.

The committee’s inquiries have intensified an already active debate about how open tax-exempt churches and ministries should be with their financial records. One side is suspicious that the Senate committee could be interfering with religious freedom. Others say the government is enforcing nonprofit tax laws that might be abused by church leaders in the name of charity. “We’re just saying enough with the funny business,” said Lee Grady, editor of the popular Christian magazine, Charisma, based in Florida.

“We have now entered into a new season. It’s a season of accountability. It’s a season of disclosure, and I’ve been saying that God Almighty is auditing the church.”

White, who has lived in Tampa, bought a home near Boerne six months ago and has set up a “media headquarters” for Paula White Ministries at the San Antonio church, according to the Epicenter Web site.

Hawkins, who owns a ranch outside of Boerne, serves on the board of White’s PWM Life Center, a nonprofit organization created last year. In keeping with White’s national profile, the Epicenter this year has scheduled notable Christian musicians and speakers for regular services and special events.

Among the changes is a new Saturday service led by a couple with ties to nationally known ministries, according to the church’s Web site. John and Jan Cruse are said to be leading “The Gathering” service.

John is described as the brother of Cindy Cruse, noted worship leader for Lakewood Church in Houston, the nation’s largest Protestant church pastored by best-selling author Joel Osteen. And Janice Cruse used to sing with the Archers, a longstanding contemporary Christian music group.

This week, the church will feature Bob and Audrey Meisner who will speak about marriage. The Meisners are known for giving a message about restoring marriages, including telling their own story of overcoming issues of infidelity.

PAULA WHITE SAYS JESUS CHRIST NOT THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON AND WE ARE NOT TO PRAY TO JESUS CHRIST!

Posted by Job on March 19, 2008

All right you fans of this Word of Faith prosperity heathen blaspheming witch, where are you? Are you going to defend her now? What more is it going to take?

Original post here Paula White’s Outrageous Heresies!

Please compare what you saw and heard on this video to these passages of scripture.

Jesus Christ Is Clearly Called the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD.

John 1:14   And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:18 No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

John 3:16   “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Prayer to Jesus

John 14:14 [Jesus said] If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.

1Cor. 1:2   To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

Acts 8:22 Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.

2 Cor 12:7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations,a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Acts 7:54   Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. 55 But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” 57 But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together at him. 58 Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. 59 And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” 60 And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Acts 8:24 And Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”

Acts 1:24 And they prayed and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13   I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

Heb. 7:25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

Independent Conservative’s take here: Will Paula White be the Biggest Apostate Heretic of 2008? She’s Made Her Self Nomination Known!

I was really flabbergasted (and that’s not a word in my regular vocabulary) at all the heresy I saw from Paula White and her partner in heresy Larry Huck. Honestly, it’s so bad I’m not even comfortable posting the video here. Just check out the post at A Little Leaven titled Paula White’s Outrageous Heresies!

And for the record, I don’t feel either Paula White or Larry Huck are saved or ever were saved. It’s apparent they wanted money and they got it. Yea it’s OK to pray for them, but lets not play games here, what they’ve done is all of 2 Peter 2.

I mean seriously, I’ve heard much heresy from these people, but this one is really shocking, even to me.

Also, our brother on YouTube bezel333 has a video all about Paula and Larry titled The unbiblical musings of Paula White and friends.

Listen, I know that it offends the sensibilities of so many Christians today, especially the church of judge not. But listen folks, some people are just going to the lake of fire and burn for an eternity! That is the truth. Some people are going to go to HELL! If you are a liar, apostate, blasphemer, diviner, cheat, fornicator, or thief sitting in a pulpit, you are going to HELL! If you are sitting in a “church” following these wicked people, you are going to go to HELL too right behind them! What? I don’t have the right or authority to say this about people? Excuse me, but yes I do! Where do I get this authority from? THE BIBLE! IT IS IN THE BIBLE! Are any of you people that are following and defending these evil wicked people reading your Bibles?

Listen, the prosperity/Word of Faith doctrines are what is behind all this. You have all of these people going back scouring the Old Testament and thereby rejecting the new covenant built on better promises looking for their material blessings. Well, once you start pushing away Jesus Christ and eternal life to the backburner, He starts figuring less prominently in your mind. That is what the prosperity doctrine does. And the Word of Faith doctrine? By convincing yourself that you can metaphysically cause your own blessings to come upon you by speaking, naming and claiming, etc. you convince yourself that “you can be like the Most High.” You start elevating yourself higher and higher and bringing God lower and lower.

Listen, I know this topic makes a lot of people uneasy and for that reason they don’t want to talk about it. But it is time for Christians to face facts: people are going to go the lake of fire to burn for an eternity. Once we acknowledge that fact within ourselves, we have to start considering precisely who the people are that are going to meet with this awful fate, and the sole determinant should be what the Bible says. Not what the preacher says, not what you feel is good and right, not what the denomination says, but what the Bible says. After you have done that, then you need to look at yourself. Yes, church of judge not, you have to judge yourself. Examine yourself to see whether you be in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5)! As yourself “Am I going to go to the lake of fire? If so, why? If not, why not?” Pray and ask God this question. Most of all, READ YOUR BIBLE AND JUDGE YOURSELF AGAINST SCRIPTURE. JUDGE YOURSELF AGAINST THE REALLY HARD TOUGH THINGS. Like when Jesus Christ says “And they shall be cast into outer darkness and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Read the people that Jesus Christ is talking about and ask yourself “DOES THAT APPLY TO ME?!” Go to the warnings in Revelation 2 and Revelation 3. As yourself “Am I in one of these types of churches? Am I one of the Jezebels, Balaams, Nicolataines, etc. type of people in these churches?” Go to the lists of sins and sinners all over the New Testament, and see if any of those things apply to you! Revelation 21:8 Revelation 22:15 2 Timothy 3:1-5 Romans 1:29-31 and many more! If the shoe fits, you don’t have to sit around and wear it! You can fall on your knees and beg God to take it off! But that is never going to happen so long as you are following false preachers that fit this description and sending them money!

As I have said many a time, there is no reason to follow these people. There are plenty of good pastors and preachers out there. The problem is that people have no interest in them. They want to be lied to and they want to be exploited and misled because the liars and exploiters ENTERTAIN them. They make them feel good and happy! That is what it is all about these days! Being entertained! Well are any of you aware of how Christians are being imprisoned, raped, tortured, and murdered all over the world right now? Do you realize that more Christians died for the faith in the 20th century than in all the previous centuries combined? So did any of you go up to one of those Christian woman in Sudan while she being raped, chopped with machetes, and whatever was left of her was then doused with gasoline and set on fire (I am not making this stuff up!) if she was having a good time? If she was having any fun? If the principles of prosperity that you learned out of some book that you bought at some conference were moving in her life? If she was speaking life into her situation and creating with the power of the tongue?

Somehow, I doubt it. I will tell you why … because you are following a form of false Christianity that is completely irrelevant to how the majority of Christians in the world are living today. Did you even know that there are more “third world” Christians now than western ones? The clear majority of Christians today are living in poverty, oppression, or both. And yet theirs is the kingdom of heaven, see Matthew 5:3!

To all of you people out there following this wickedness, I am warning you right now, come out of it, because otherwise your faith is a fraud, your religion is a lie, and that makes you both of those things plus many more.

Look, even if your pastor, your friends, your family, etc. are on the road to destruction, you don’t have to be a lemming like them and fall off the edge of the cliff. You can be saved. You can be redeemed. You can be spared the wrath of the Lamb! Don’t be like them! Be like Jesus Christ! Follow The Three Step Salvation Plan today!

How Heretic Jamal-Harrison Bryant Eroded the Rules for Bishops in the African Methodist Episcopal Church

Posted by Job on March 16, 2008

Independent Conservative » Blog Archive » How Heretic Jamal-Harrison Bryant Eroded the Rules for Bishops in the AME Church.

First, if you don’t know who the heretic named Jamal-Harrison Bryant is you can check out this previous post.
He’s one of the many who pimps the flock for money and then ends things
with a quickie confession to Jesus. He has also been known to make
demands of God as if God is his personal puppet. One instance was
captured in a comment in this post over at Pulpit-Pimps.org.

A Word About “Apostolic Arrogance”

Dear Melvin & Community:

This morning I turned on the TV to BET and the Right Reverend,
Elder, Doctor, Bishop Jamal Bryant was preaching in Uganda, Africa. The
place was overflowing with hurting and hopeless people. In his usual
way, Bryant began to promote himself to the folks by saying,

“It’s time for me to demonstrate Apostolic Arrogance, and declare
that I’m giving God until 2010 to make the Country of Uganda one
people, one mind, one Country, and that there will be only one God.”

Notice, he declares as if he is greater than God and can give God
time limits. This is NOT a man ministering the true gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ, but a true heretic. You can read plenty more posts by Melvin Jones about this man.

Now, that you fully understand how dangerous of a heretic
Jamal-Harrison Bryant is, it should not surprise you that he asked to
lead a campaign to have a female given the title of bishop in his AME
denomination.

Scripture makes it clear that it was never intended for women to
assume titles such as bishop/elder/pastor and are not to assume
spiritual headship over men.

Titus 1:5-11 (New King James Version)

5) For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order
the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I
commanded you—

6) if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination.

7) For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not
self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not
greedy for money,

8) but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled,

9) holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may
be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who
contradict.

10) For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,

11) whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households,
teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.

Now for some, they feel that just does not make it clear enough.
They make up titles like co-pastor and such, which are not biblical and
not valid, because it is still an effort to put women in spiritual
authority over men and that’s not how God wants things to be.

1 Timothy 2:11-13 (New King James Version)

11) Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.

12) And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.

13) For Adam was formed first, then Eve.

Now some like to claim that since Acts 2:17
shows that God would pour out his spirit on all flesh in the last days,
that women should now be allowed to assume any role in the church, this
is wrong. The verse of scripture specifically says that “daughters shall prophesy”
and so they do. Women were even prophesying to Paul, the one who
explained that women do not have leadership over men. They would
council him, but never were they in a position of authority over men. (In
the New Testament prophesy is to give words that edify, not something
on the level of fortune telling or like the Old Testament prophets, see
1 Corinthians 14:3.)
And
keep in mind, even the apostles said that they were in the last days
themselves and they did not violate the order of duties for women and
men.
They were in the last days themselves and never forsook
sound order as God had commanded, we should not either. Women have
helped make men aware of a great many things, but this does not mean
that women should be granted positions of authority over men.

Paul also notes to Timothy as inspired from God in the name of the
Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, that men who wish to be
bishop should be good leaders of their own household.

1 Timothy 3:4-5 (New King James Version)

4) one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence

5) (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?);

Women are to be the homemaker, not the one who assumes rule over the house.

Titus 2:3-5 (New King James Version)

4) that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

5) to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

So as the man heads his house, a good man is to be selected as the
one in positions of leadership in the church. This is not a small
matter or a trivial point, but the sound order and structure as
ordained by God. And despite how many people claim otherwise, there is
never a record of Jesus ever having a female as an apostle. Women offer
invaluable discernment regarding some matters and share that with
others, but it is not to be done from a position of leadership over
men, period.

Now that you are fully aware of these things, I want to show how
Jamal-Harrison Bryant intentionally pressed to see a woman be given the
title “bishop” in the AME church. On 8/4/2000, the Baltimore
Afro-American newspaper ran a story titled The politics of ordination: Rev. Jamal Bryant’s insider account of Bishop Vashti McKenzie’s election.
Vashti McKenzie was a woman who had been working in the role of head
pastor of a church. She had become popular because she is a woman and
because she totally played the politics of the political Left from the
pulpit. She has always been much of a political spokesperson and of
course never should have been given the role of pastor over a church. (She
is the type that runs with folks like Jesse Jackson. Always crying
about justice via politics, until the discussion is on babies being
killed in the womb. Leftists never cry for government to end murder
there.)
So she woke up one day and decided she just had to run for
“bishop” in the AME organization. She claims it was inspired by God,
but we know even her role as “pastor” was not God’s will, so she had
already started down a road of spiritual deception way before trying to
become a “bishop”.

Here are some short excerpts from that article I mentioned, that
details how Bryant helped a woman assume the title of “bishop” in a
church organization.

It also took a mega-campaign, replete with behind-the-scenes
dealmaking, slogans and theme songs, security forces, and a small army
of enthusiastic volunteers-all coordinated by her campaign manager, the
Rev. Jamal Bryant.

JB: It was … warfare is the best way I can put it. Uh, Vashti McKenzie
is not only young and a woman, but it was also her first run.

SY: Her first attempt …

JB: Her first attempt. Most people have to run at least twice. My
father [Bishop John Bryant] didn’t win his first time, and had a larger
church, and a large family name, reputation as well. But, the church
saw something in her. You’re dealing on the floor with people from the
deep South, who still have some baggage of sexism. You’re dealing with
trying to convert people from the Continent who are not used to seeing
women in positions of leadership and authority over men. You’re dealing
with other women who love themselves but would rather be under a man
than under their own peer. So, we were running the floor having to
combat and to fight all of those arguments. I don’t know if it was like
a day like Vietnam, to say it lightly.

SY: So, obviously you have nurtured a relationship with Bishop McKenzie
over the years, but when did she formally come forward and say I want
you to be my campaign manager?

JB: Well, no I went to her.

SY: Oh, you went to her?

JB: I went to her and said, um, `We’re getting close. There are some
things I think that you can win, but I think there are some things that
I can help you do.’ And she in faith gave me the reigns and said, `Run
with it.’

Notice the disdain that Jamal-Harrison Bryant has for the South and
his disapproval of desires to adhere to proper instruction. He speaks
the language of secular humanism and political correctness, not the
scriptures and gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This shows where his
true foundation is. Bryant has a political science degree and although
he also holds degrees in theology, it is apparent that he moves in
terms of politics, not the will of God. That’s why he was eager to
assume the role of McKenzie’s head cheerleader. 2 Thessalonians 2 speaks of the coming of strong delusion
and how Satan will prop himself up as God and many will fall for it.
People like Bryant, via his heresy and dismissal of sound doctrine are
paving the way for the coming Antichrist.

What will you do when someone like a Benny Hinn comes along
and has false doctrine but can actually heal people and doctors confirm
it? Will you say he’s anointed? Will you claim he’s got a gift from
God? Or will you realize they are the Antichrist or a warm-up act for
him, that was foretold would show signs and lying wonders? Jesus warned
it’s coming

Matthew 24:24 (New King James Version)

24) For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

That’s right, fakes will come and have plenty of physical signs to
show those who put their trust in emotion rather than sound doctrine. This is why adherence to sound doctrine is so important.
Allowing in twists of scripture allows in a lie. Twists of scripture
allowed some to claim the faith in America and hold slaves. Twists of
scripture are why not just women, but gays are seeking to head
churches. Twists of scripture are why people are carrying on in all
manner of disorder at church meetings and blaming it on the Holy
Spirit, ignoring that one of the fruits of the spirit
is self control. Another is faithfulness and we must remain faithful to
the truth as recorded in scripture. Otherwise, we will fall for
anything.

Christians are going to have to decide if they wish to be politically
correct or holy. The two are not the same and don’t come from the same
source.

Randy White Puts Church Without Walls Up For Sale Without Board Approval!

Randy White Puts Church Without Walls Up For Sale Without Board Approval

Spiritual Pathways is following this breaking story; Randy White Puts Church Without Walls Up For Sale Without Board Approval.

Quote from news source..

TAMPA Without Walls International Church, which faces a U.S. senator’s scrutiny for possible abuse of its tax-exempt status, has put its Tampa sanctuary up for sale.

CNL Specialty Real Estate Services and Cushman & Wakefield of Florida were hired to sell the 13.3-acre campus, near International Plaza and Raymond James Stadium, in the burgeoning West Shore business district.

The asking price is $30 million, said Matthew Messier, a principal with CNL who specializes in selling church property. Along with the 4,500-seat sanctuary, the campus includes a 94,000-square-foot office building, a television studio and a small health club.

Messier referred all questions to the church.

Randy White, co-founder and head pastor of Without Walls, declined repeated requests for an interview. White’s ex-wife, Paula, co-founder and board member, also did not return phone calls. She now spends most of her time in New York and San Antonio, where she formed a partnership with a ministry called The Epicenter – A Place for Life.

The possible sale surprised one board member.

“I had no clue this was on the table,” said Alick Clark, a board member from Acton, Calif. “You can’t make a decision like that without the board’s approval. Right?”

The news comes as U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley is intensifying his inquiry into Without Walls and the global teleminstry it spawned, Paula White Ministries.
