Get Ye Wisdom And Understanding

Posted by Job on March 24, 2008

Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve
from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her,
and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it costs all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she
will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.
NIV

There are some people whom we may love and admire and seek to do
good to, and yet in the end they will turn against us and fail us and
betray us. It’s one of life’s tragedies to invest your love and to give
yourself to someone who ultimately betrays you. But the advice of
Scripture is: love wisdom. Devote yourself to wisdom, she will not
betray you, she will honor you, she will uplift you, she will protect
you. And wisdom comes from the word of God.

Wisdom is more important and more precious than all the things that
men seek after. Wisdom is like that pearl of great price that Jesus
spoke about: when the merchantman found it, he went and sold all that
he had and bought that one pearl. He was a merchantman and knew the
value of things. That’s how wisdom is. It’s a pearl of great price.

Even if it costs you all you have, the Scripture advises you sell
it. Give yourself to wisdom, devote your life to her, she’ll never
betray you. She’ll exalt you, she’ll bring you to honor. Your latter
end will be better than your beginning. – Derek Prince

Do Not Give Into The Temptations Of The Unsaved

Posted by Job on March 22, 2008

My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them. NIV

One of the secrets of success in life is learning to say “No,” and mean it. We will all be subjected at sometime or another to enticement from sinners, from people whose motives are wrong, whose standards are low, whom we cannot afford to follow. It’s one of the things that happens in life.

It happens so often in our early years, at school or at college—sinners entice us. They come with attractive offers of pleasures and entertainment and forms of life that are unhealthy and evil. And if we are going to succeed in life, we’ve got to learn early in life to say “No.” “No, I won’t.” “No, my standards don’t permit me.”

And I’ve discovered this, both men and the devil himself recognize when you really mean it. You can say “No” in a tone of voice that means, “If you ask me again, you might persuade me.” Or you can say “No” in a tone of voice that means, “You’re wasting your time asking me.” And if you are going to succeed in life you’ve got to learn to say “No” with that tone of voice which means, “You’re wasting your time if you ask me again.” The devil is very clever; he doesn’t waste his time. When we say “No” with that tone of voice, the devil moves on to test somebody else. – Derek Prince

God Delights In Those Who Love Him Psalm 147:10-11

Posted by Job on March 11, 2008

[God’s] pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his
delight in the legs of a man; the LORD delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
NIV

Human strength and human cleverness do not greatly impress God. We
may feel ourselves so strong, so capable, but something can happen in
just an instant that can rob us of all that strength and capability.

Some years ago, I was principal of a college for training teachers
in east Africa. We had a number of keen athletes in that college and
one day I was reminding them of the frailty of our human flesh. And I
said, “You can feel so strong and so active but just let one little
malaria-bearing mosquito insert its proboscis into you and within
twenty-four hours you will be shaking like a leaf. You will be
quivering; you will be ridden with fever; you’ll be altogether
incapable of anything that’s effective. Just one little insect can
change all that.” No wonder God isn’t impressed by human strength.

But God loves those who fear Him and put their hope in His unfailing
love. There’s just one response of the human heart to which God reaches
out, it’s the response of faith, of love and of commitment to Him.
Don’t rely on your own ability, don’t rely on your own strength, they
will fail you sooner or later, but put your trust in the unfailing love
and faithfulness and the mercy of God. Put your hope in Him and He will
not fail you. – Derek Prince

What Man Knows Is NOTHING Compared To What GOD Knows Psalm 147:4-5!

Posted by Job on March 3, 2008

[God] determines the number of the stars and calls them each by
name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no
limit.
NIV

There the Scripture gives us a beautiful picture of the measureless
wisdom, knowledge and power of the Lord. No human astronomer would dare
to calculate the number of stars in the universe. We know that it runs
into millions and billions, but God knows the number of the stars and
He calls each by name. His understanding reaches out to the farthest
corners of the universe and He knows exactly what’s going on with each
star. He controls its movements. Astronomers can compute mathematically
where each star was thousands of years ago or where it will be
thousands of years from now because the stars are so absolutely
accurate and reliable in their movements. But don’t let us attribute
that to some unseen, mechanical force. The force, the wisdom, the power
behind the movements of the stars is the force and the wisdom of our
God. His understanding is infinite.

We marvel today at the achievements of computers, but let me tell
you that God is greater than all the computers put together. There’s
nothing going on anywhere in the universe that He doesn’t know about,
that He doesn’t control. He’s the Creator, He’s the controller of the
entire universe, and He’s our God. – Derek Prince

Psalms 147:2-3 The Lord Builds Up The Church

Posted by Job on February 25, 2008

The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. NIV

Those are beautiful words, but the exciting thing about them is that
they are being fulfilled in this generation, in our lifetime. I’ve seen
the outworking of those words. I had the privilege to be living in
Jewish Jerusalem in May 1948, when the state of Israel was reborn after
two thousand years.

The Lord is today building up Jerusalem. He is gathering the exiles
of Israel. He’s healing the brokenhearted and binding up their wounds.
That’s good news for all who will turn to God. It’s good news for God’s
people, Israel. It’s good news for the church of Jesus Christ, because
the same God that is gathering Israel is gathering the church back to
Himself, bringing us into our inheritance, healing our wounds, binding
up our broken hearts.

There’s a ministry of the Holy Spirit today that’s something very
special—it’s a ministry to the brokenhearted. It’s a ministry to those
who are wounded in their hearts. If you carry a wound inside you, turn
to God, say, “God, this is a time of restoration; it’s a time of
regathering. You are healing the brokenhearted. You are binding up
their wounds. Lord, You know that wound I’ve carried so long in my
heart; will You heal me?”

And the invisible finger of God, the Holy Spirit, will reach down
where no surgeon can reach and touch that wounded place in your life
and bring you healing and restoration. – Derek Prince

Psalms 146:9 God Watches Over The Poor But Opposes The Wicked

Posted by Job on February 18, 2008

The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. NIV

One of the things that the Bible consistently emphasizes is
this—that the Lord cares for the alien, the stranger, the outcast and
the unprotected, particularly the fatherless and the widow. And God
challenges us to share that concern.

In the New Testament, in the epistle of James, pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is defined as this: “To visit the widows and the fatherless.”
You know, a lot of things that we think are religious don’t mean much
in the sight of God, and some things we neglect are very important in
the sight of God. God cares for the alien. He cares for the widow. He
cares for the fatherless. And if God has imparted His nature and His
compassion to you and me, we are going to have the same kind of care,
the same kind of concern, that God has. And that’s going to be the kind
of religion that’s acceptable with God.

It’s not just a question of religious activities. It’s not just
going to church or singing hymns, but it’s sharing God’s concern with
Him. He cares, and we need to care. Today there are countless
opportunities for us in this blessed land of America to show our care
and our concern for those in this or other lands who are less
privileged than we are. God cares, we need to care. – Derek Prince

Proverbs 3:27-28 Do Not Withhold Good From Those Who Deserve It

Posted by Job on February 12, 2008

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in
your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back later; I’ll
give it tomorrow”—when you now have it with you.
NIV

Those are words of very practical wisdom. There’s a proverb in the
Latin language. If I quote it to you in Latin, probably most of you
wouldn’t understand. But it’s very brief. It says, Pristad quaik it todat,
which means, “He gives twice who gives quickly.” What wisdom there is
in that. When a person is in need and you have the ability to supply
that need and the person is worthy of your help, don’t hesitate, don’t
wait, don’t hold back. If you give quickly, it’s like giving twice. If
you keep them waiting and frustrate them, then your gift will not
really be blessed the way it should be blessed.

So don’t withhold that which is good for those who deserve it. Don’t
say to your neighbor, “Come back tomorrow,” when you have it with you.
There’s a kind of stinginess, there’s a kind of lack of total honesty
there which somehow spoils the act of giving.

Remember that, “He gives twice who gives quickly.” Next time you
have the opportunity to give, don’t hold back, don’t hesitate, and
don’t do a lot of mental calculation, just respond to the need of your
neighbor and the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Give without hesitation.
Give without any reservation. Just give freely, because as you give God
will give back to you. – Derek Prince.

Proverb 3:13-15 Blessed Is The Man That Finds Wisdom In Jesus Christ

Posted by Job on February 5, 2008

Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains
understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better
returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire
can compare with her.
NIV

Those words have always been very meaningful for me. In a way, they
sum up my life experience. As a boy, I was always interested in wisdom.
In my teens I became interested in philosophy. Later I became a
student, a research student, and finally a professor of philosophy. I
was pursuing wisdom through my life, but it was a wisdom that gave no
real reward or return. It was a wisdom without fruit.

And then in His mercy, God miraculously revealed Himself to me. He
opened up the pages of the Bible to me. He gave me the gift of the Holy
Spirit to interpret the Scripture and there I found the source of true
wisdom. A wisdom that yields fruit, a wisdom that yields blessing
beyond our power to calculate or compute and I want to give my personal
testimony to you as you listen to these words.

Truly, “Blessed is the man who finds wisdom.” She is more profitable
than silver, she is more precious than rubies. Nothing you desire can
compare with her. This is the pearl of great price. The one thing
that’s worth more than all of the other things in life. It’s the
finding of the wisdom of God revealed in Scripture by the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 3:11-12 Love It Pay Attention When God Disciplines You!

Posted by Job on January 29, 2008

My son, do not despise the LORD’S discipline, and do not resent
his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father
the son he delights in.
NIV

Discipline is a mark of love. Many have gone astray in our
contemporary culture and misunderstood that. Unfortunately there has
been a philosophy of bringing up children which omits discipline. You
are to allow the child to do whatever he wishes, to indulge himself in
every way; but that does not show love, that creates endless potential
problems for your child in the future. True love in a parent expresses
itself in discipline, in setting boundaries. There is security in set
boundaries.

And the love of God for His children expresses itself in discipline.
God’s discipline is not a mark of His disfavor; it’s a mark of His
love. We need to be careful that we understand it that way. The
Scripture warns us against two wrong reactions to the discipline of
God. The first is despising it. The second is resenting it.

When God disciplines you, pay attention, don’t despise it, don’t
resent it, don’t get angry, don’t complain, but learn the lesson that
has to be learned and then the result will be blessing. The result will
be peace. The result will be spiritual progress and development,
because there’s no other way that God can teach us except by
discipline. That’s true in the natural too. A teacher who doesn’t
discipline really can’t teach. God is the great teacher, the great
Father. He disciplines us in His love. – Derek Prince

Ways To Honor God Proverbs 3:9-10

Posted by Job on January 22, 2008

Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. NIV

There are various ways that we can honor the Lord. We can honor the Lord by living a pure life, a holy life, by worshiping Him, by proclaiming His truth. But one very significant and important way to honor the Lord is with our wealth. By giving Him the first of all that He makes available to us—the financial and material provision—always taking the Lord’s portion out first, and giving it back to Him. That’s to honor the Lord with our wealth.

And I have to tell you this: that with our wealth we either honor the Lord or we dishonor Him. There is no middle ground. If we are stingy, if we withhold the Lord’s portion, if we don’t give when the Holy Spirit prompts us to give, then we are dishonoring the Lord. But God says, “Those that honor Me I will honor” and He honors us back in the same way that we honor Him.

If we honor Him financially, giving Him the first and the best, then He will see to it that our barns are filled and our vats overflow with the new wine. So honor God and He will honor you. Do it in faith. Do it in obedience to His word. Do it in obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. If God is speaking to you just now and you need to honor Him, remember: if you honor Him with your wealth, He’ll see to it that you are cared for. – Derek Prince

Psalm 141:1-2 When You Call Upon The Lord He Shall Come Quickly

Posted by Job on January 15, 2008

O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I
call to you. May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the
lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
NIV

Isn’t it wonderful to think that our prayer can come up before God
like incense, that it can be a sacrifice that God awaits? I was talking
to a friend once, who is a Jewish rabbi, who had the Jewish practice of
praying at certain regular fixed hours. And he said this: “Isn’t it
remarkable that God actually is waiting to hear my voice? With all the
business of the universe on His hands, God waits every day at that
fixed time to hear the voice of just one person like me.”

That really spoke to me. God waits to hear your voice, my voice. May
our prayer be like incense that goes up at an appointed time, incense
that’s fragrant and acceptable in His senses. Incense that comes from a
burning altar, which is a heart on fire with the love of God. May God
not be disappointed, may He not miss that incense, may we be regular,
may we be faithful in that time of prayer.

Remember, God, Almighty God, with all the business of the universe
on His hands, still waits to hear the prayers of each of His servants,
of each of His children. And it comes up before Him like the fragrant
incense from a sacrifice on the altar, the altar of a burning heart. –

Proverbs 1:33 Listen To God And Be Spiritually Safe!

Posted by Job on January 15, 2008

But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm. NIV

Do you know who’s speaking? Who could say those words? The one
speaking there is wisdom, the wisdom of God. What a promise, what an
offer. “If you’ll listen to me you will live in safety and be at ease
without fear of harm.”

One thing that people all over the world today are striving for is
security, but here is an offer of total security. You’ll live in
safety; you’ll be at ease, without fear of harm. Not merely will you be
physically safe, but you’ll be free from worry and anxiety and care.

What’s the secret? The secret is listening to the right voice.
That’s the voice of divine wisdom speaking through the pages of
Scripture, offering that promise of total security and ongoing,
uninterrupted emotional stability and peace.

How can you find that? You can’t find it in the world’s system, in
the world’s provisions. The world can offer temporary stability,
temporary security, but nothing that’s permanent. The only pathway to
permanent stability, security, peace of mind is to listen to the voice
of divine wisdom speaking through the pages of Scripture and then to do
what wisdom enjoys. – Derek Prince

When You Are Weak God Shows You The Way! Psalm 142:3-4

Posted by Job on January 14, 2008

When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way. In
the path where I walk men have hidden a snare for me. Look to my right
and see; no one is concerned for me. I have no refuge; no one cares for
my life. NIV

I wonder whether you’ve ever felt like that: “No one cares about me.
They don’t mind whether I live or whether I die. All I have is
problems. I’m walking in a path and there are hidden snares on it.
There are problems I don’t really understand and I don’t know how to
solve. I can’t see any source of help. I look to the right, I look to
the left. No one bothers about me. I’m just a speck of dust in the
universe. I’m just a name on a list somewhere. There’s a birth
certificate in some dusty office that relates that I was born, but no
one cares.”

That’s not altogether true. There is someone who cares. There is
someone who knows your way. That’s what the psalmist said, “When my
spirit grows faint within me it is you who know my way.”

You may feel lonely, neglected, uncared for. You may not understand
your own way, you may not know the problems that lie ahead, you may not
have an answer to them all, but there is one who knows: it’s the Lord.
He knows your way. He is with you; He will see you through if you will
turn to Him in prayer. You are not forgotten, you are not neglected,
you are not unwanted. He made you, He cares for you, He’s with you. –
