  1. Awesome teaching. I agree totally with all. Everything from, water baptism, to tongues and is taking away from the message of Christ redemption and adds other things that we must do to be saved. But our salvation is based of the blood and the cross, and anyone who preaches there is something else we have to do, even if well intended, believing they are teaching the truth ie. (destiny, giving, our greatness, and predestination) for they do not save, only the blood saves, therefore they do not continue in the doctrine of Christ; Christ Crucified. This must be proclaimed above everything else. Amen.

    Patrick,

Hi hope you are well. Observe Ephesians that we are saved by grace through faith. Note there are two necessary aspects.

  3. Hi John

For by grace are ye saved through faith.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9

    Patrick,

Hope you are well. Let’s not forget all the scriputres. Here’s another.

1 Peter 3:21 “The like figure whereunto baptism doth also save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscious toward God,) by the ressurection of Jesus Christ.

Mark 16:16 “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be dmaned.”

I could present more scriptural evidence but I will refrain at the moment awaiting your comment. But understand that the book of Romans was written to believers Romans 1:7.

Please read Romans 6. Also look at every conversion in the book of Acts. In particular when Peter preached the first sermon on Pentecost and they were cut to the heart and asked what they should do the reply in Acts 2:38 was “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

I haven’t, I simply quoted one of many. God bless.

    Patrick,

Hi hope you are well. I quoted these scriputres in regards to the statement you made about baptism not being necessary for salvation. I understand this is a complex issue but one I feel worth of investigation. Please respond how you can hold to that statement in light of these scriputures.

  7. Hi John

Please read it again. I said-“Everything from, water baptism, to tongues and is taking away from the message of Christ redemption and adds other things that we must do to be saved.

I say this because many ministers and believers have stressed one thing or action above another, saying we must do this or that in order to be saved. But water baptism does not save us, Jesus did.

Baptism is an outward expression of our inner profession of Jesus saving us, and our accepance of the price He paid. If a person does not believe this when he is baptized, he simply went under water a wet sinner, and came out the same. It is to these I direct the above statement. Baptism is a declaration made before the world that they embraced Jesus as their Messiah. It is saying publicly I embrace Jesus Christ as Saviour.

The gospel requires such a profession, and no one free one this. It also expresses the need of purification, and points to God that can cleanse us.

My reply is not that water baptism is not necessary for salvation, for we are encouraged to repent and be baptized. My reply was to legalistic groups of false teachers who pervert the gospel of justification by faith in Jesus Christ, by teaching this is all one needs to do, there is no repentance mentioned period. I grew up in a baptist Church where everyone was baptized but no one repented.

What these pastors where teaching is reliance on one’s own performance for salvation. Being dipped in water to show they are saved when there is no inward change, no declaration of faith is Christ and no relying on Christ’s performance at Calvary on their behalf.
