Jesus Christ Is Lord

That every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father!

We (Lutherans) love to baptize infants. That they do not have a clue as to what is going on is the very best part of it!

It is a picture of placing God’s grace, before our faith.

Jesus commanded that we baptize, and we know that whenever He commands us to do anything…He is in it…not twidling His thumbs…but acting, for our sakes.

In Acts 2:38 the verse says to repent and BE baptized (God does the actual baptizing), for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit. And the promise is to you AND YOUR CHILDREN!

We do believe that God acts for us in baptism.

    Old Adam,

The Holy Spirit is received through the laying on of hands… immediately AFTER Baptism, not from the Baptism alone.

Does not the Bible teach that people had believed, and were Baptized… but did NOT receive the Holy Spirit until someone who already had the Spirit laid hands on them ?

    Yes it does !

So unless you are a whatchamacallit ?…. dispensableationist – then how do you explain said passage (and others)?

I’m not saying that baptisn=m alone saves.

Juest that it “now saves you also.’ (1st Peter)

God chooses to save people (not baptized) and He chooses to save them in baptism.

For nearly a thousand years, vittiall all Christians were baptized as infants, including the Reformers (none of whom were re-baptized).

God certainly does work in baptism also.

That was supposed to read ‘virtually’…
