A Question For Jesus Only Oneness Pentecostal Trinity Deniers

Posted by Job on May 15, 2009

Oneness Pentecostals, as well as Christians who support and fellowship with oneness Pentecostals, here is a question of you.

The Bible declares God the Father, called the Ancient of Days (see Daniel 7, especially verses 9, 13, and 22) to be King in various places. The Bible declares God the Son, called the Angel of the Lord in His preincarnate form (see Joshua 5:14-15, also Exodus 3:4-6 cross referenced with Exodus 3:2Acts 7:30Acts 7:35 ) and the Word of God (John 1:1-18, Proverb 8 especially verse 30) and Jesus Christ to be King.

However, the Holy Spirit, called the Spirit of God the Father (Matthew 10:20Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18) and the Spirit of God the Son (Galatians 4:6, Romans 8:9, Isaiah 61:1Luke 4:18) is never declared to be King by scripture at any time. Also, where both God the Father and God the Son are both spoken of as being glorified and exalted, to my knowledge God the Holy Spirit is never spoken of by scripture as being glorified or exalted at any time.

How is this possible? I welcome your replies. Thank you.

I’m sure if you wade through the over 700+ replies on the other thread, you should be able to find some of the answers to your questions.

But it would be an answer to prayer to be able to see a Oneness and Trinity discussion and disagreement done without both sides accusing the other of not being born again…

A weak argument against the “Oneness” camp. You have to do much better than this, or I’ll just have to refer to you as a hater without a cause.

If you dont believe that Jesus is the only Way, Truth and the Life you will die with your sins, He is God manifested in the flesh, 1Tim 3:16. He was God the Father in creation, the Son of God for redemption of sin and Holy Spirit in re-creation of our spirit. Now you must have the resurrection power of Jesus thats the Holy Ghost to explain the bible without it your explanation will be carnal just like you are doing right now. Let Jesus en light the spirit of your mind for you to see clearly what He is trying to reveal. try and be born again spiritually, I’m saying genuinely born again, all the 4 gospel reveal this, in Mat 28:19 (Name-singular), mark 16:16, Luke 24:45-47, John 3:3-5 and all its fulfillment in Acts 2:38. The new testament is written only to those who are baptized in the name of Jesus not to Trinitarian or half truth,. Gal3:27. The Devil has blind plenty of people not to know the true gosple of Christ that He is the image of the invisible God.If you dont believe this, James said, if you believe their is one God even the devil believe and they trenble, so if dont believe inthe oneness than the devil is better than you. Det 6:4 Hear o Israel the lord your God the Lord is one, thats why the Jews dont believe Christian you think that their is 3 God, you spoil the reputation of the apostles, Paul said in Eph 4:4,5,6, their is one lord, one baptizm, one faith, one Gopd the Father of all thats in you all.

“He was God the Father in creation, the Son of God for redemption of sin and Holy Spirit in re-creation of our spirit.”

Wrong. The Bible speaks of the role of the Son and the Spirit in creation. The Bible speaks of the role of the Father and the Spirit in redemption of sin. The Bible says in several places that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit indwell each other and testify of each other. And you prove yourself to be dishonest when you deny that Matthew 28:19 commands to baptize in a Trinitarian formula. Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, true. But Jesus Christ also said that “No one has seen the God at any time.” How is that possible? Jesus Christ also said: “Why do you call me good? There is none good but God” to the rich young ruler. How is that possible? You oneness people are going to have to come to grips with what the Bible actually says at some point. For your sakes, I hope and pray that it is before judgment day. There is a reason why the Trinitarian doctrine was being formed as early as the first two decades of the second century (within a few years after the gospel of John and Revelation was written) but oneness did not rear its ugly head until the third century, was rejected time and time again, and did not come back until the early 20th century.

First and fore most..the Bible does not say, teach or even mention a “God the Son”.The flesh was NOT deity but rather a physical manifestation of the One Invisible God who is Spirit.I believe people believe there is One God,however they fail to understand that this One God who is a Spirit, omnipresent redeemed his very own creation all by himself with the help of no one in heaven. He set the price for redemption from the very start, sinless blood..since He is Spirit and has no blood,he took upon himself to act and reach down to man’s level through the Vail of flesh in the only “begotten” Son,flesh of God..Jesus is not called the only Son of God but THE ONLY BEGOTTEN..Son of God..He had a beginining and He had a ending..the flesh had a limited purpose and it was simply a tool in the hand of God..a vehicle, the physical manifestation of the Invisible God.Jesus was not a 2nd person but THE PERSON of God..He was as the scripture teaches..the IMAGE of the INVISIBLE GOD..Col 1:15..He gave the Spirit a shape,a voice and a way for mankind to behold God..John 14:9-10..

      Hi hope you are well.

So in Acts 7:56 When Stephen says he sees Son of Man standing at the right hand of God, Stephen is referring to who?

“The Bible says in several places that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit indwell each other and testify of each other.”

Yes, just like my spirit and soul indwell my body, yet I am only one man with only one name, created in the image of God.

  6. Ev. Duane Williams said

Correction. On my last post, I halfheartedly agreed with some unbiblical terminology to make my point. The Bible does not say “God the Son” did or does or indwells anything, because the term is not found anywhere in Scripture.

  7. Steve Mullican said

Your first mistake is mentioning..God the Son…no such thing in the Bible sir

    Hi Job,

You have brought up an interesting question worth further reading in the scriptures, namely has the Holy Spirit ever been called “King”, and glorified/exalted”? It intrigues me enough to warrant my time to do a bit of research into the answer.

Meanwhile, I would also like to ask Trinitarians a question… for consistency, would we all agree that, according to Trinitarians, God is the Trinity?

OK, then, how does the following verse read, if God is the Trinity?

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Assuming the Word refers to Jesus, and God refers to the Trinity, then you have the unscriptural reading of, “In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with the Trinity, and Jesus was the Trinity.”

If any Trinitarians would dispute the above interpretation, then he needs to artificially or arbitrarily redefine the word, “God” to mean “God the Father”… which STILL then reads, “In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God the Father, and Jesus was God the Father.” (!!)

16 When he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold the heavens were opened to Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alightening upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying. “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Matthew 3: 16-17)

  11. Robert said

Then God said, Let us make man in Our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. (Genesis 1:26)

  12. Robert said

At that time Jesus answered and said, ” thank You Father, Lord of heaven and earth that you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. (Matthew 11:25)

  13. Robert said

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. (Matthew 26:39)

I find some of the statements to be very ignorant . For example , for someone to state that the New Testament is only written to peope who have been Baptized in the name of Jesus truly undermines the ability of the Holy Spirit to guide a believer in what they read . Baptism does not give anyone the power to interpret the New Testament . I don’t have time right now to comment on everything I have read but I do think that people need to look at what they are claiming is in the Bible that is not there . For example , it does not say anywhere God the Son . I personally do not believe that it is necesary to embrace the Doctrine of the Trinity but I certainly cannot accept the Oneness Doctrine because it denies the distinction of the Father , Son , and Holy Spirit which is very evident in the Bible . Contrary to what staunch Oneness believers claim , the Trinity has more Scripure to support it in contrast to Oneness .

the sonship really did not start until He ( Jesus ) was begotten in Mary’s womb: Luke 1:35 “And the angel answered and said unto her [Mary], the Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing wich shall be BORN OF THEE SHALL BE CALLED THE SON OF GOD”. Now let me ask you trinitarians which one is the Father of Jesus ( Son of God)? God the Father or the Holy Ghost? How can the Holy Ghost father the Son of God if he is not God the father himself?. Again Galatians 4:4-5 ” But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son [whom was] made of a woman, [and also] made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. So we see clearly in Galatians 4:4-5 that there was no “eternal Son”, and this promise was given to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, the seed of the Woman which will bruise the head of the serpent, Genesis 3:15 1John 3:8 ” He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he[Jesus] might destroy the works of the devil. God the father created himself a body that he can hang on the cross to redeem a lost humanity, Itimoty 3:16

Hi Job. you are assuming the ” angel of the LORD” to be the preicarnate form of the Lord Jesus, but can you prove it? no you cannot. your first mistake here is to call Jesus ” God the Son”, that’s not a biblical term, but the “Son of God” is the correct term and Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords not the captain of the host. Job there is a problem with your belief if you think that Jesus is an angel and claim to be a trinitarinan: you are saying that Jesus is God and yet an angel ,and you justify that with (acts 7:30 and 35). Job I think you are are confused, you cited Proverbs 8:30 to prove that Jesus is wisdom, this wisdom in proverb 8 is nothing more than the personification of he gift of wisdom which is an attribut of God not not person, of course God always has his wisdom with him (1 corinthians 12:8, 2 chronicles1 :10). In proverbs 1:1- 3″ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; to know WISDOM and INSTRUCTION; to perceive the words of understanding; to receive the instruction of WISDOM, JUSTICE, and JUDGMENT, and EQUITY;” if Jesus is this wisdom, then who are INSTRUCTION, JUSTICE, JUDGMENT, EQUITY? by the way who is PRUDENCE with whom wisdom dwell? (proverbs 8:12). Jesus is not just the Son of God, but he is the only begotten Son of God whom was made of a woman, and also made under the law to save those under the law when it was time to redeem humanity (Galatinas 4:4-5). Do you understand? the Son had to be made under the law and of a woman. Luke 1:35 says that the Holy Ghost will come upon Mary and she will conceive a child, for that reason the child shall be called Son of God if the Holy Ghost is distinct fro the Father why did he overshadow Mary to create the baby in her womb? why is he then the Son of God instead of the Son of the Holy Ghost? So the Son of God is God himself (YHWH aka the Spirit Jahova aka the Holy Ghost) dwelling in the flesh to walk among us John 1:14, timoty 3:16. Jesus is the TRUE GOD John 14: 10, John 20:28, 1timoty 6:14-16,1John5:20, Titus 2:13, Revelation 1:8 (the almighty God). Jesus had a human and divine natures at the same time, so when he talks like a man and say “my father” don’t be confuse for there are not 2 or 3 spirits working together having one purpose, there is only one Spirit (Ephesians:3-4) and the Lord Jesus is that one Spirit also (2corinth 3: 17) because he is the Holy Ghost Acts 20:28, Roman 8:9, Galatians 4: 6. Jesus is he Father, he is the Son (Father created a body for himsef in dwell in in to come down and save Humanity Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 35: 4, Isaiah 40:3-5, Isaiah 43:10-11…) and he is the Holy ghost John 14:17, John 20:22 ( He can do that because the Holy Ghost is his Spirit), Acts 20:28 Jesus is the one that baptize beleivers with the Holy Ghost John1:33 . Born again christians are born of the Spirit of God aka Spirit of Christ Galatians 4:6 Romans 8:10-15… There is only one King of kings and Lord of lords, only one King That’s Jesus 1timoty 6:15, Rev 17:14, Rev19:16 and only one throne because he is the fulnes of the Godhead not a second person (colossians 2:9) the throne of god and of the lamb Rev1:4, rev4, rev5, rev22:3. God bless you.
