A Challenge To Pastors, Teachers, Preachers, Prophets, And Exegetes: What Is The Most Holy Place That The Anti – Christ Will Defile

Posted by Job on October 21, 2008

Now the relevant scriptures are, among others, Matthew 24:15,  Daniel 9:27, and Revelation 13:14.

The issue is that we presume that the holy place will be a rebuilt Jewish temple. But how can this be if Judaism is a dead religion because it denies Jesus Christ? How can that which denies Jesus Christ be holy? This fact explains why pretribulation rapture premillennial dispensationalism has to be dual covenant. In order for the Jewish temple to be holy, Judaism has to be holy. (In order for it to be most holy, does it have to be holier than Christianity?) At the very least, Christians have to participate and support in it in order to lend some Jesus Christ to it by politically supporting Israel, raising money, breeding red heifers, etc.

My position is that no Jewish temple, even if Christians are intimately involved in constructing, dedicating, and serving in it, can be holy. So then, what is the holy place that the anti – Christ will enter into, declare himself as god, and defile? More to the point, what does the new covenant declare to be holy? Consider the book of Hebrews to begin the answer. I must say that I myself am stumped on this issue (having been raised in pretribulation rapture premillennial dispensationalism) and have no alternatives at this time. That is, unless said holy place will be the throne of Saint Peter in the Roman Catholic Vatican, which of course to me is unthinkable.

    Job,

May i add another question? This is one which pertains to the topic which has also stumped me for years:

Those who emphatically hold to the belief that another man made Temple will indeed be built, which will include this ‘Holy place’ [which i cannot see at all] can never point me to where in the Word of God its stated this Temple is going to be built!

When Jesus is asked in Matthew 24, about the end, he has just said:

2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

In answering, he no where tells the disciples [after just telling them the Temple will be thrown down–which it was] that it will have to be rebuilt. Does he?

My position is that no Jewish temple, even if Christians are intimately involved in constructing, dedicating, and serving in it, can be holy.

I agree. What made the Holy of Holies ‘Holy’? It was God’s presence…God’s presence does not dwell in ‘temples’ made by human hands today:

    24God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; Acts 17

But instead, His presence abides in those who are the children of God:

    20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. Ephesians 2

    quote…

So then, what is the holy place that the anti – Christ will enter into, declare himself as god, and defile?

    end quote..

    I’m not sure! LOL

If i ‘only’ read the scriptures plainly, without being influenced by most prophecy teachers/teachings, it sounds like its the ‘spiritual human temple’which will be defiled by the antichrist spirit.

BUT how would that explain 2Thess 2:

1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

    3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

This refers to the ‘son of perdition’…and ‘that man of sin’.

A physical man could not sit in a spiritual temple…

As you can see, this is something i continue to wrestle with…

    PJMiller,

    Hi hope you are well.

I Peter 2 clearly tells us that the believers are the spiritual house. 1Peter 2:5
The son of perdition sits in a physical temple. One constructed by Isreal and false ‘Christians’ who think that Jesus will dwell on Earth physically for a thousand years.

Why do some ‘christians’ wish to start sacrificing animals again at a new temple. Hebrews clearly tells us Jesus was the perfect sacrafice and none other are needed.

Finally just because people live in the geographic area of Isreal does not make the jews. First of all they cannot trace their blood line back. Second of all the listen to the talmud and not the Old Testament. Thus these jews are not God’s people at all!

    Love,

    John

Job, I have like thoughts as I can not see it as Holy is it was rebuilt. The temple of God is within man, so maybe it will be a great posession from “the falling away”. Just a thought. Who knows the mind of God?

It is a very thought provoking question! Thanks.

The anti-Christ must go to the place that most people think is holy. I think it will be Vatican Square. Most Protestants don’t follow Catholicism but still consider them as brothers.
I’ve been there and many people in the crowd are just taking pictures with the pope in the background.

Job that is a good question…..I guess my answer would be that the intent of the scripture is not necessarily saying the place will be Holy from the pov of our Lord but according to men’s eyes…

ie The Wailing Wall, Vatican, etc etc…

But lets say it is going to be a holy place from the Lord’s pov…
    I really don’t know???

Does such a place exist on this earth really? We as Temple’s of God, are made holy by Christ…but as for a physical building or place on this planet….mmmmmm…that has me stumped…

What if the language of the holy place is phenomenological (as in the sun goes down). The word holy may not necessarily mean the place is inherently holy. Just a thought.

Next time you read thru the New Testament, do it with consideration you may not have before. This is, that Jews and gentiles have different future destinies. (Except for those Jews who have already bowed to Jesus.) There is no way to point to an individual verse to show this. It is in the overall picture and must be seen that way.

The Bride of Christ (Christians) is forever going to live in her new body. Whether she will be visible to earth people or not, I don’t know. But the population that survives the Tribulation will remain on earth in earthly bodies. These bodies are unlike those of the Bride. Hers cannot die. The earthlings may live long, but some verses show us they can die.

Considering these things can throw a different light on whether the Temple and sacrifices will be needed before Jesus comes….DavWms

    David,

    Hi hope you are well.

    Please consider this.

Revelation 20:4-6 clearly states the first ressurection as those who were beheaded for not getting the mark of the beast and will reign with Christ for a thousand years.

Revelation 20:11 on talks about the second ressurection where all the dead are raised. This coincides with 1 Thessalonians 4:13 and on.

Read Hebrews chapters 9 & 10. In particular 10:14 “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” Jesus was the perfect sacrifice. His blood did took away our sins something the blood of bulls and goats could not do. Hebrews 9:12-14. There is no need for more sacrifices!

Also look at Hebrews 11 in particular verse 40. Those mentioned in this chapter among others will receive the same salvation that we do.

Please show me where you get Old Testament faithful and New Testament believers having different rewards.

    Love,

    John

Ho hum. So I forgot to mention that the Jews (and some others) who lived in the OT times lived in anticipation of the Savior. So yes, OT chosen ones are in Heaven even now. I have already considered the verses you quoted. All I asked is that you, if you choose, consider what I said about a divide between Jews and gentiles the next time you go thru the NT. …DavWms

  11. Hi Job,

I do not know much, so just asking. Should not the beast in Rev 13:14 be a country? In your opinion, do you think it is a person? Thanks.

  12. theoldadam said

    I agree with Start Wall.

The answer I, I believe, is the tabernacle of the Living God…the heart of the believer.
