Did Barack Obama Support The Murder Of Christians In Kenya By Raila Odinga Supporters?

HYMAN: Obama’s Kenya ghosts

About 50 parishioners were locked into the Assemblies of God church before it was set ablaze. They were mostly women and children. Those who tried to flee were hacked to death by machete-wielding members of a mob numbering 2,000.

The 2008 New Year Day atrocity in the Kenyan village Eldoret, about 185 miles northwest of Nairobi, had all the markings of the Rwanda genocide of a decade earlier.

By mid-February 2008, more than 1,500 Kenyans were killed. Many were slain by machete-armed attackers. More than 500,000 were displaced by the religious strife. Villages lay in ruin. Many of the atrocities were perpetrated by Muslims against Christians.

The violence was led by supporters of Raila Odinga, the opposition leader who lost the Dec. 27, 2007, presidential election by more than 230,000 votes. Odinga supporters began the genocide hours after the final election results were announced Dec. 30. Mr. Odinga was a member of Parliament representing an area in western Kenya, heavily populated by the Luo tribe, and the birthplace of Barack Obama‘s father.

Mr. Odinga had the backing of Kenya’s Muslim community heading into the election. For months he denied any ties to Muslim leaders, but fell silent when Sheik Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum, appeared on Kenya television displaying a memorandum of understanding signed on Aug. 29, 2007, by Mr. Odinga and the Muslim leader. Mr. Odinga then denied his denials.

The details of the MOU were shocking. In return for Muslim backing, Mr. Odinga promised to impose a number of measures favored by Muslims if he were elected president. Among these were recognition of “Islam as the only true religion,” Islamic leaders would have an “oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions [emphasis in original],” installation of Shariah courts in every jurisdiction, a ban on Christian preaching, replacement of the police commissioner who “allowed himself to be used by heathens and Zionists,” adoption of a women’s dress code, and bans on alcohol and pork.

This was not Mr. Odinga’s first brush with notoriety. Like his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the main opposition leader in the 1960s and 1970s, Raila Odinga is a Marxist He graduated from East Germany’s Magdeburg University in 1970 on a scholarship provided by the East German government. He named his oldest son after Fidel Castro.

Raila Odinga was implicated in the bloody coup attempt in 1982 against then-President Daniel Arap Moi, a close ally of the United States. Kenya has been one of the most stable democracies in Africa since the 1960s. The ethnic cleansing earlier this year was the worst violence in Kenya since that 1982 coup attempt.

Mr. Odinga spent eight years in prison. At the time, he denied guilt but later detailed he was a coup leader in his 2006 biography. Statue of limitations precluded further prosecution when the biography appeared.

Initially, Mr. Odinga was not the favored opposition candidate to stand in the 2007 election against President Mwai Kibaki, who was seeking his second term. However, he received a tremendous boost when Sen. Barack Obama arrived in Kenya in August 2006 to campaign on his behalf. Mr. Obama denies that supporting Mr. Odinga was the intention of his trip, but his actions and local media reports tell otherwise.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama were nearly inseparable throughout Mr. Obama’s six-day stay. The two traveled together throughout Kenya and Mr. Obama spoke on behalf of Mr. Odinga at numerous rallies. In contrast, Mr. Obama had only criticism for Kibaki. He lashed out against the Kenyan government shortly after meeting with the president on Aug. 25. “The [Kenyan] people have to suffer over corruption perpetrated by government officials,” Mr. Obama announced.

“Kenyans are now yearning for change,” he declared. The intent of Mr. Obama’s remarks and actions was transparent to Kenyans – he was firmly behind Mr. Odinga.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama had met several times before the 2006 trip. Reports indicate Mr. Odinga visited Mr. Obama during trips to the U.S. in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Mr. Obama sent his foreign policy adviser Mark Lippert to Kenya in early 2006 to coordinate his summer visit. Mr. Obama’s August trip coincided with strategizing by Orange Democratic Movement leaders to defeat Mr. Kibaki in the upcoming elections. Mr. Odinga represented the ODM ticket in the presidential race.

Mr. Odinga and Mr. Obama’s father were both from the Luo community, the second-largest tribe in Kenya, but their ties run much deeper. Mr. Odinga told a stunned BBC Radio interviewer the reason why he and Mr. Obama were staying in near daily telephone contact was because they were cousins. In a Jan. 8, 2008, interview, Mr. Odinga said Mr. Obama had called him twice the day before while campaigning in the New Hampshire primary before adding, “Barack Obama’s father is my maternal uncle.”

President Kibaki requested a meeting of all opposition leaders in early January in an effort to quell the violence. All agreed to attend except Mr. Odinga. A month later, Mr. Kibaki offered Mr. Odinga the role of prime minister, the de facto No. 2 in the Kenyan government, in return for an end to the attacks. Mr. Odinga was sworn in on April 17, 2008.

Mr. Obama’s judgment is seriously called into question when he backs an official with troubling ties to Muslim extremists and whose supporters practice ethnic cleansing and genocide. It was Islamic extremists in Kenya who bombed the U.S. Embassy in 1998, killing more than 200 and injuring thousands. None of this has dissuaded Mr. Obama from maintaining disturbing loyalties.

I found it hard to believe Obama is truthful because there’s alot of stuff about him that make some people are very concern for a person who wanted become a president. He lied that he voted aganst the law that save babies from the filed abortion attempt, lied about the church what he is attending buy the same man who preched hate, lied abot his befrended with some terrioist who said it is okey that to have 911 and they (the terrioists) should do more, and assume his connections wth ACORN,(an oragnization who is now have a voting frund scandal). I will not vote for him because he is NOT truthful and he is NOT to be trusted to become a president.I also have some mix emotions abot voting for McCain.

Regarding Obama and McCain, the good news is that one will lose, but the bad news is that one will win. Whoever wins, the Bible commands us to pray for, but both men have demonstrated that they do not deserve our support or trust.

  3. The church you speak of was not burnt by Odinga supporters, but rather by members of a rival ethnic group.

The Muslim population in Kenya is significant, and politicians have to work with them, besides the Muslim population here is peaceful.

Funny, but even an Odinga supporter says otherwise. Here is a link where this fellow claims that the Odinga thugs should be “forgiven.”

By the way, I am not a Muslim basher. I know that most Muslims are peaceful, just as are most Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, communists, and atheists. What is relevant is the murder of Christians by Odinga supporters, not the religion of said supporters. And please do not be coy. This was merely one incident in what amounted to a coup by Odinga, where a candidate who lost by 230,000 votes used violence to intimidate his way into office. Please recall that Obama supporters, including Donna Brazile, threatened riots if the superdelegates elected Hillary Clinton at the Democratic Party Convention.

Actually I had never heard of this…I thought that the past battles in Kenya were simply more of the tribal violence that is endemic in the African continent….I suppose it is possible it was on religious lines…I do know in Northern Nigeria that Muslims continually slaughter Christian Nigerians…

But even I find it hard to believe that Obama could be blamed for any of this brutal violence in Kenya….sadly , tribalism and sectarian conflict is vast throughout Africa…from Algeria down to South Africa…sad stuff…

Am I blaming Obama for the violence? No. Am I blaming Obama for supporting Odinga and never once criticizing how Odinga used murderous violence to stage a coup? Yes.

Okay….it sounded like you were making guilt by association…my faux pas….

I have had it with this nonsense! I would expect this sort of distortion from the secular world, but when the supposed Christian world also must resort to utter lies to make a point, it is quite disapointing!

There are enough inaccuracies in this article:

    1. Nobody knows who won the Kenyan election, not even the Electoral Commission of Kenya which was tasked with overlooking the elections. The Chairman said that he did not know who won! There have been two commissions of inquiry which have returned the same answer. So it is wrong to say that Odinga lost the election. The correct answer is nobody knows who won.And yeah both found a lot of glaring irregularities in the whole process.

    2. The Muslim population in Kenya is not so large and is mainly at the Coast and North Eastern, there was minimal violence at the Coast and almost no violence in North Eestern. So it is wrong to falsely accuse the Muslims of killing Christians, Muslims in Kenya don’t have any problems with the christians.Kenyan problems are ethnical not religious.

    3. The said place where the church was burnt is in the Rift Valley which is more than 95% Christian. This is not the first time we are having violence in the Rift, we had ethnic cleansing in 1992 and again in 1997 and it has always continued in small or great degree. And it has all to do with historical injustice stemming from colonial and post colonial Kenya. Let me shed some light, the Rift Valley is the most fertile region in Kenya and so the colonialists moved the natives to camps to create room for themselves to till the land, but when they finally left, the farms were not returned to the rightful owners but the President Jomo Kenyata, who was a Kikuyu instead imported his own people from Central Province which is rightfuly theirs and settled them on other tribe’s land in the Rift Valley thereby leaving many as squatters in their rightful land. Furthermore, when the last President, Moi left power, his tribe the Kalenjin from the Rift Valley, was treated badly by President Kibaki, a Kikuyu, and all these factors set the stage for the burning of the church. Those who were burnt were Kikuyus who fled their homes in the Rift Valley. So I think you get an idea of what happened. It is not Muslims who did it, it is those who called themselves christians and Odinga wasn’t their main motivation.

3.About the MOU, it is just as has been pointed out, all parties were courting the Muslim vote because they make up a significant number of the population.

4.If Mr. Odinga is such as has been painted, then he must only be hated in America (by a certain group of the population) because in Kenya there has been two recent opinion polls trying to find out which politician most popular and one had Mr. Odinga at eighty plus percent and the other at ninety plus percent! I can say that he beat President Kibaki handily! I think it is because unlike Americans, Kenyans really know the source of the post election violence, and that it ran deeper mainly from historical injustices.

    5. On the same note, the same two commissions of inquiry into the election violence found out that most of those killed in Nyanza, Mr. Odinga’s home land were shot at the back as they fled by the police! And lest I forget, the violence broke out all over Kenya so accusing the Muslims of perpetrating it is utterly unfair and false.

    6. Mr. Odinga does not represent a constituency in Western Kenya, he represents a constituency in Nairobi (Lang’ata constituency). He has never represented a constituency from Western kenya.

    7. Obama is not only loved by the Luo as alluded, granted the Luo love him most, but most Kenyans love him for obvious reasons. And among Africans, extended rather than nuclear family is the norm as such, cousin can be stretched to mean people not so near, and it is against this backdrop that Odinga is Obama’s cousin. But as of now, you would be shocked, most Kenyans would claim to be Obama’s cousin!

8.Unless the term campaign has been redefined from what we traditionally know, I wouldn’t call Obama’s visit a ‘campaign’, more of a homecoming.

Lastly I would like to clarify more but I will leave it at that for now. Us who call ourselves Christians should refrain from making statements that we cannot clarify before the Lord when called to account.

The Odinga connection alone could’ve cost Obama 10 points in polls — in not the entire election — had it been properly exposed by media. Odinga’s “Agent of Change” motto is too hard to miss:

The American government has backed terrorist, Muslim and Christina and governmnets having no ties to religion. Ask someone about Ronald Reagan’s backing of murderous thugs in Iraq, Afghanistan, El Salvador, Columbia, Nicaragua, and Chile. Jerome Corsi is a fat sack of crap, and he should be stuffed in a sausage casing and dumped in a river. The guy’s ‘book’ has been debunked over and over. He is a racist coward.

  11. Thank you for reading this e-mail.

I was given, by God, a rare and unusual gift: inner locution. By it, God puts thoughts into my mind. I register the thoughts. I then do with them whatever God directs me to do. I’m just an instrument, like this keyboard I’m typing on. I’m nothing special. In fact, I was once a great sinner, now saved thru the infinite mercy of God.

The reason for this e-mail to you is to give you some truth. Much of what you say on your website is true. You have done your research well. I did notice one error. Your birth certificate of Mr. Obama has no certificate number on it. There is a reason it has no certificate number. It is a forgery. The real birth certificate is in a record center in Mariabi, Kenya. He is a true imposter. Not even our president, by the constitution.

Mr. Obama is going to declare martial law in late November. He has planned this, under the auspices of the One World Government, since his election to succeed that equally dishonest Mr. Bush. When they get together, they have a big laugh over what they are doing to the American people, unsuspecting as they are. In March, the persecution of Christians will begin. The killings will begin in May. By this time next year it will be all but over. The swine flu vaccine will be the excuse for martial law. It will be made mandatory. Road blocks will be set up to check on whether or not you have received the shot. The vaccine has unprecedented levels of mercury in it. It will cause heavy metal poisonig. Nearly all who take it will be dead within a year. Don’t take it.

What should you do? Stop denying your faith. Proclaim the truth. The Catholic Church is the only true Faith. By denying your Catholic heritage, you are denying the truth. Your mother tought you better. Pray the Rosary like she tought you. Pray those mysteries like you mean it. Your eternal salvation depends on it. Start to attend mass again. Go to traditio.com Send them ten dollars to get access to the Directory of Latin Masses. Find the one closest to you that is not diocesan. Go. Go to confession. Tell the priest, in confession, about your immoral habits. You will otherwise end up in Hell for all eternity. Now here is why this is being sent to you. Your mother prayed for your eternal salvation. I (God) have a debt to repay. You will get grace like you have never gotten before. Grace to see the truth about religion. Truth about God. And grace to see the truth about eternal salvation. Pray. Pray for your own salvation. Pray for the graces of final perseverance, final penitence and the grace of a holy martyrdom. Yes a holy martyrdom. You and your wife will be martyred for the Faith. But you and she must turn your lives over to God and prayer.

Now for something to let you know that this is really from God. When you were small, you had to go away for a period of time each summer. You went to camp. When you got there you were very freightened. You thought that your mother had it out for you. But after you were there for a while, you actually liked it. You even won a prize for craftmanship.

May God bless you in your spiritual journey.

    Anthony
