Jesus Christ Is Lord

That every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father!

Scriptural Evidence That Pope Benedict Is Wrong

Posted by Job on October 2, 2008

Another good one from Fancied Freedom!

Pope is sadly mistaken

As a former Catholic, I can attest to the fact that a statement made by Pope Benedict XVI claiming that other Christian churches are not true churches is completely inaccurate.

In a statement approved by the Pope, the Vatican asserted that Christ established only one church (being the Roman Catholic Church) and the other communities (Protestant churches) “could not be called churches” because they don’t have apostolic succession, or the ability to trace their bishops back to Jesus’ original apostles.

Not only that but the document also claims that the Catholic Church “has the fullness of the means of salvation.”

Let me correct a few things:

There is only one name under heaven by which we can be saved – that is Jesus Christ. (see Acts 4:12) Not the Catholic Church, not a pope, not a priest. The one and only High Priest, Christ.

Ephesians 5:23 says that Jesus Christ is the HEAD of the church. The church is the body of believers – the saints who have been called out according to God’s purpose. CHRIST is the head of the church – not a pope.

Despite these outlandish claims, I will pray for Catholics, most of whom are deceived, as I once was. However, the true God of the Bible was able to use my former Catholicism to show me the right path of life.

Greetings! Saw your post in Google Blogsearch and came to visit.

    >”As a former Catholic…”

This means you have no authority or credibility with Catholics.

    >”In a statement approved by the Pope, the Vatican asserted that Christ established only one church (being the Roman Catholic Church) and the other communities (Protestant churches) “could not be called churches” because they don’t have apostolic succession, or the ability to trace their bishops back to Jesus’ original apostles.”

No where in your post do you ever disprove this statement, so it stands as truth and fact until that time that you can disprove it.

    >”Not only that but the document also claims that the Catholic Church “has the fullness of the means of salvation.””

Again, like the satement preceding it, at no time do you ever disprove this statement, so it too stands as truth and fact until such time. Its also clear from your statement that you are unaware of the very Christian doctrine of outside the Church there is no salvation, which you likely hold and believe. (You don’t believe Muslims, Hindus and Buddists outside the Christian CHurch are saved, do you?)

    >”Ephesians 5:23…”

Amen! Catholics believe and teach Ephesians 5:23 whole heartedly. However, nothing in Ephesians 5:23 negates Matthew 16:16-19 with its clear citation by Christ of Isaiah 22:22ff. Christ bestows the keys of authority to Peter and his successors in these two verses. AS we know that the Bible does not contradict itself, Catrholics know that “CHRIST is the head of the church” per Ephesians 5:23 and that Christ delegated His authority over the His one visible Church per Matthew 16:16-19 and Isaiah 22:22ff.

    >”Despite these outlandish claims, I will pray for Catholics,…”

Thank you, that’s very charitable. Catholics in turn will pray for you to return from your apostasy and love of Reformation heresies.

    God bless…

  2. That’s ironic. The Vatican has plenty of unbiblical heresies from the Rosary to calling a mere man Holy Father.

Look at it this way. If you are going to establish a New World Order, then that includes one church. Therfore, you are going to hear every form of blasphemy coming out of this Pope’s mouth. I don’t know about you, but if you observe many religions, they have some Roman Catholic influences in it. Today, some churches are adopting Muslim, New Age, and Hindu beliefs. Look at Rick Warren and TBN for example. When you see that happening, including and I am getting off the subject a bit, banks merging into one, here comes the New World Order. Your own politicians are talking about it, the NWO I mean.
