The Apostle Paul Affirms Mary Is Not Mediatrix. Also Affirms Christians Should Not Pray To Dead People, Even If Those People Are Considered To Be Saints.

The Roman Catholic Tradition is guided by its Catechism. I have often warned, that Roman Catholicism is the cult of Mary and a false Mary at that. The following entry in the Roman Catholic Catechism proves beyond all doubt, that Roman Catholicism is another gospel.

Catechism of the Catholic [Roman] Church

969 “This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation …. Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.”

In short, Roman Catholicism teaches that Mary is a mediator. entry for the term: Mediatrix

a woman who mediates, esp. between parties at variance.

Notice, Roman Catholic Catechism entry 969 says “Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix”. Many Roman Catholics and even some who are not Roman Catholics, but follow many of those traditions, literally pray to “Mary”. They see Mary as a valid advocate between God and man. Just as many times they pray to people they consider to be “dead saints”.

The apostle Paul made it clear beyond all doubt, that neither Mary or anyone else other than Jesus Christ is a mediator between God and man.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 (New American Standard Bible)

5 For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.

Please understand, that it is estimated, that Paul wrote those Words as inspired by Godbetween 62-66 A.D. That was decades AFTER Mary’s death. It has been estimated by some, that Mary lived 3-15 years after Christ rose and ascended to Heaven. Meaning Paul openly declared Mary was NOT a mediator about 50-60 years after Mary was dead. Also, given Paul was a young man named Saul at the stoning of Stephen, Acts 7:54-60. We know for Mary to have been alive when Paul wrote to Timothy, would mean she lived well over 100 years, which no source has ever claimed. (When I speak of “life” and “death” in this post, I’m talking about the physical body.) So Mary’s body was very much in the grave when Paul wrote to Timothy. Also keep in mind, that Paul never mentions praying to Stephen. He didn’t pray to dead saints!

This leaves one bottom line. Jesus Christ is the ONLY mediator between God and man. Prayers made through any other are unheard and invalid. Knowing the truth of scripture, anyone trying to claim Mary as a mediator between God and man is in need of repentance.

Hi all, as a slightly off topic comment/request, I’m hosting a survey on my blog to collect data about people’s use of religious labels — and I’d really sure appreciate your input! Thanks in advance.

  2. On my blog I’ve made a small edit to this post.

I’ve updated my post to note that 1 Timothy was written 20-30 years after Mary died. (Not 50-60 years as I previously had it.) Also changed “100 years” to “70 years”.

  3. Karl, you were once banned from this blog and in your disobedience to the authority that runs this blog you returned and now you use the handle Spaxx.

Paul never prayed to dead people and never did he seek an angel to pray on his behalf. Of those in Heaven, Paul only prayed through One, Jesus Christ. We are talking about the One mediator between God and men, not living men in flesh praying through the mediator JESUS CHRIST for other living men who are in flesh.

I share this with those who might otherwise be misled by the reprobate named Karl/Spaxx.

Romans 8:26-27 (New American Standard Bible)

    26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;

27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Prayers made by men of flesh and bone are by way of the Holy Spirit known to Christ, the One mediator, He searches the heart and He knows the mind of the Spirit, He is the mediator to the Father, not Mary or anybody else. Because what happens in prayer to God is solely the work of God. Father, Son and Holy Spirit being God always work together and never is Mary a party to that. Mary is DEAD, she does not have any body of flesh and does not have a new body yet. She rest in Christ as other dead saints, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, her communication with Christ currently consists of asking how much longer and being told to go back and rest (this is not “soul sleep”, the unbiblical concept promoted by groups like the SDAs, saints in Heaven are alive and able to communicate, are conscious and resting in Jesus), Revelation 6:9-11. Her spirit lives as that of other saints in Heaven, waiting for the Lord to return to earth and grant her a new body with the rest of us. She is NOT any unbiblical “queen of Heaven” and does not have any authority to play the role of mediator in Heaven for anyone, Christ alone has it and shares it with no one. Which is why no apostle of the Lord Jesus ever speaks of saints going through anyone in Heaven other than THE LORD JESUS.

To claim one can reach God through anyone other than Jesus Christ is idolatry, sin and abomination.

  4. Spaxx/Karl, you know I don’t waste time with you given you are a reprobate.

But anyone reading, you will have to judge for yourself. I present the scriptures, in which Mary is never affirmed as one to pray to. However “difficult” they might be to understand, no where do the scriptures promote praying to Mary, only to God the Father through the Lord Jesus Christ, Matthew 6:8-13 and Ephesians 5:20.

So each of you reading, you have to judge. Whether scripture which never affirms prayers to Mary is best, or these “commentaries” presented to you by someone who fails to respect the authority of this blog.

Everything you say or do is filtered through a man-made document called “the bible”. God created nature – men created “the Bible”( and all the religions that proclaim to be “the one” with “the Truth”).

You are always criticising people, pointing out how awful they are because they are not exactly like you, and they don’t think exactly like you- you’re pompous in thinking that you have all the right answers, as if you are the only one God will care for.

    You’re self righteous.
