Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. (Romans 3:19-20 ESV)
The word “gospel” comes from the Greek noun, “ευαγγελιον” or “euaggelion,” which means, “a good message” or “good news.” We also get our word “evangelize” from a related Greek verb, “ευαγγελισασθαι” or “euaggleizo,” which means to announce good news. What makes the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ good news? To understand that, we must first understand the “bad news.”
