Jesus Christ Is Lord

That every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father!

National Religious Broadcasters Using Oneness Modalist Heretic TD Jakes To Get Out The Vote

Posted by Job on May 12, 2008

Driving to work this morning viewing the effects of the terrible thunderstorms that spared my neighborhood but hard hit the one right next to mine, I was listening to Christian radio. Out of the blue comes TD Jakes’ booming voice. In it, he first speaks of how much he loves America and so forth. I immediately thought of Jakes doing this to exploit anger over Barack Hussein Obama, Michelle Obama, and Jeremiah Wright’s considerably less than jingoistic statements and actions. Then he went into his exhortation spiel for people to register and get out to vote.

First, I see Lifeway Bookstores, owned by the Southern Baptist Convention, selling TD Jakes’ doctrinal error (oneness pentecostalism and the Word of Faith/prosperity doctrine are but a few of his MANY problems) and now the National Religious Broadcasters are using this guy. I had been using the NRB as a sort of a refuge from the blatant charismania that you will find on The Word Network, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Daystar, etc. So I just ignored the heavy Pat Robertson presence on the channel, as well as their “white Europeans are the descendants of the children of Israel … the Danube River is so named because of the tribe of Dan” show that comes on early in the morning. I also ignored their embrace of the Ellen White Seventh Day Adventist cult. So I suppose that I cannot cast NRB aside on Jakes’ account, since the ones that I just named are hardly better – if anything some might be worse – or else I would be reacting out of a personal dislike for Jakes rather than on principle. (On the other hand, Slice of Laodicea has criticized NRB, albeit for different reasons, such as this post stating that not one red cent of NRB’s $5 BILLION IN ASSETS is being used to defend the faith from Oprah Winfrey.)

Incidentally, speaking of TD Jakes and PR spots, he has another one out (I did not catch the sponsor!) promoting single sex education, saying that “boys need their own schools so that they will be able to, you know, romp and stuff (his choice of words not mine!) and that boys learn differently from girls and needed their own classrooms in order to be accommodated. So … it looks like Jakes is not that far removed from Jeremiah Wright’s separatist doctrines after all?

I have to be honest, back when I was part of the religious right and allowing my worldview to be shaped by the Washington Times and the National Review, I was in full agreement. But now … I just recall reading about this inner city public school that went all male. Sure, the discipline problems decreased and the test scores went up. But when they interviewed the boys that attended the school, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WANTED THEM TO BRING THE GIRLS BACK! Why? Because, er … BOYS LIKE GIRLS! Or at least they are supposed to anyway. Perhaps now that T.D. Jakes is on board with the new world order’s gay rights agenda (and yes this is relevant … perhaps due to his son) he thinks it is OK. To me, the whole single sex education thing … who wants it? Certainly not the kids. Not the administrators or teachers. Parents go for it only because they are desperate for any hook or angle to improve the failing school systems that the government is ruining on purpose. Not even the old fashioned religious sorts – of which I am one – think that it is a good idea anymore, where you were supposed to keep boys and girls separate in their little boarding or finishing schools (where they were supposed to look OH SO CUTE in their little uniforms I guess) UNTIL GRADUATION DAY WHEN YOU MARRY THEM OFF.

Sorry people, but society has changed. Not all of the changes have been for the good, but methinks that one of the most important things for a boy to learn from school is how to treat a lady and how to behave yourself in their presence. For some of us guys, those things do not come naturally, and you only learn them through trial and error. Especially error. (If you don’t learn to handle competition and rejection in junior high and high school, how on earth are you supposed to handle being turned down for jobs, promotions, college choices, etc. later in life?) So … HOW ON EARTH ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO LEARN THOSE THINGS IF THERE ARE NO GIRLS AROUND TO LEARN THEM FROM?

Like I said, TD Jakes may have his own reasons for wanting to turn your local public school into Morehouse College or similar, and whatever they are I oppose them 100%. All the more reason why the Southern Baptist Convention should not be selling this guy’s books and NRB shouldn’t be using him for their get out the vote campaign. But I suppose that this oneness anti – Trinitarian heretic is just too good at making money and moving public opinion for these people to pass up. That is, unless they are actually along with Jakes, on his side. After all, the Southern Baptists refuse to do anything about the likes of New Age heretic Erwin McManus and Council on Foreign Relations worker Rick Warren (and Richard Land too?), and as stated earlier, Al Sharpton Al Gore global warming propagandist partner Pat Robertson is a major partner with the NRB.

    Ha. Adventists a cult?

    No way:

and do Adventists follow Ellen White’s teachings?

Kindly correct the errors of fact in your post.

I can either believe you, a Seventh Day Adventist apologist, or believe my own independent research.

  3. The SDA is a total cult, The Great Confusion of Seventh Day Adventism

Jesus is NOT Michael the archangel! (SDA cult doctrine falsely teaches Jesus is Michael. [Just like the Jehovah-less Witnesses]. Jesus and Michael are NOT the same. NOT THE SAME!)

Michael had to ask THE LORD to rebuke Satan, Jude 1:9.

While Jesus Christ BEING GOD IN FLESH AND THE LORD OF ALL rebuked Satan directly, Matthew 4:10.

Job, I’ve found you must be discerningly careful with any form of media you take in. The only “name you can trust” is spelled J-E-S-U-S and spoken of in your B-I-B-L-E. Outside of that, you’ve got to be careful and watchful at all times.

The Adventists is a cult, but seriously, Jakes as an example of a true Modalist? I would hope not. I still enjoy your blog.

  5. […] Different Here […]

  6. Let’s see the adventist are a cult even though they are fundamentalists. Jakes is an heritic because he believes in the Biblical concept of one God and you believe in a Trinitarian concept not in the Bible, but directly contradicted by 1 Cor. 15. and John 1 Co-eternal? Not as you promote it.

Paula White is evil because she believes in prosperity as did the Apostle John. Joel Olsteen must be wrong because he more people like him than you.

Is there anyone you like? Is the Catholic Church the Whore of Babylon too? Just wondering.

  7. David Anderson, since you mentioned a chapter of the Bible, here’s something for you to consider, since you feel God is not 3 persons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:20-28 (New American Standard Bible)

20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.

21 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming,

24 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

27 For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET But when He says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him.

28 When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

This is a chapter you mentioned refutes the doctrine of the Trinity, yet who is Jesus turning things over to in the end? Although all are subject to Christ, who is Jesus subject to? Jesus is fully God and fully man, but Jesus is NOT the Father.

There are multiple persons clearly spoken of and their interaction. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit and will bring all in subjection to Himself.

I’m surprised you try to defend SDAs when you seem to have some sort of understanding of the deity of Christ. SDAs feel Jesus is the archangel Michael, but Michael is not God.

An apostle praying for someone’s well being does not affirm the lies of Paula White, in her efforts to sell the gift of God as if she has any such power. Does not your Bible note that church leaders are to be MEN 1 Timothy 3? Claiming godliness as a means for gain is evil, 1 Timothy 6.

Joel Osteen is wrong because Joel preaches a gospel of self, not the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I love Jesus, to the glory of the Father and that’s enough.

Roman Catholicism has deified Mary and promotes all manner of idolatry, so yes it’s a cult.

Your screen name links to a blog that is only about politics. Do you feel “Delaware and National Politics from the Center-Right.” will save anyone’s soul?

  8. Last point first, I believe government is a ministry. Establishing righteousness and justice in the land is part of the work of His Kingdom. I am called to politics. You may have also looked at my profile. You will see that I am my state’s right to life legislative chair. I am not ashamed of that. I have personally led around 260 people to Christ. I am not Billy Graham, but I do my part. We grow where we are planted. I have even had preachers tease me because they wait for one of “David’s come to Jesus” spills when I talk with people who have a life question or struggle.

I believe in the Trinity (One God manifest in three Divine Persons–God is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) just like Saint Augustine did. God is complex. He can not be understood in relation to the Godhead unless you look at more than one dimension of time. My point was that the Nicean Creed contradicts Scripture in that area. It is too complicated to get into here, but it is not an issue of salvation. Issues of salvation are so plain that a fool cannot err there in. The mysteries are for study and exploration.

Church leaders to be men. I don’t agree. That was cultural not a Divine mandate. You look at the Timothy Scriptures and argue by extension. Look through the New Testament (we don’t even need to see the ones in the Old). Women were deacons, prophets, and evangelists. Women were church planters and teachers. Priscilla, Phobe, Phillips daughters, Mary Magdalene and others fulfilled the New and Old Testament prophecy that I will pour out of my Spirit on all flesh, your sons and your daughters shall prophesy….

You said, “I love Jesus, to the glory of the Father and that’s enough.” No, it isn’t. I am confident you don’t really mean that, but let me explain. You can’t love God whom you haven’t seen and not love your brother whom you have seen. Love God and love your neighbor. That is enough. (I am not saying that you don’t, I am just making an important point.)

I don’t feel the love toward the body of Christ. Especially with the scam post and the poop post. He has sheep not of your fold. We will be known by the love we show one another. You do have an obligation to the truth. So I don’t want to say that you should be silent in the face of error or perceived error. Contend for the faith, but it doesn’t have to come across as personal. Brother so and so isn’t really evil. He needs to grow in his understanding of scriptures.

On the Adventists, I don’t know of any who reject the Divinity of Christ. I am not one and don’t spend a great deal of time with them. As for me, you are correct that I believe our Lord is completely Divine and completely human. His Spirit is Divine. His body is human. God took onto himself humanity at Bethlehem and humanity into heaven at the Ascension. God loved us so much that humanity is now represented in the Godhead. What a mystery of love!

Oh well, I love you. May God be with you.

  9. So you feel it is your job to bring about God’s kingdom on earth via government? Where do you find support for this in your Bible? Which Apostles of the Lord Jesus promoted such? Which political arena did the Apostles of the Lord Jesus strive to stand in? Paul was a Roman, when and where did he seek to establish God’s kingdom here on earth via the Roman government?

    It was Jesus who said:

John 18:36-37 (New American Standard Bible)

36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.”

37 Therefore Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

And you claim the Kingdom of God is to be of this realm by you working in this world’s government?

This world is only going to the hands of the Antichrist as scripture says and nothing will be changed till Christ returns. You won’t be making this land God’s via government in this life.

    You said:

One God manifest in three Divine Persons–God is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

Actually, God exists as 3 divine persons, not simply momentary “manifestations”. This is why the Son will turn things over to His Father, because the persons of God always exists, as the Holy Spirit is with believers now and the Son sits with the Father.

To claim God does flip mode morphing from Father mode, Son mode and Holy Spirit mode is to claim a god inconsistent with scripture, that fully identifies 3 persons always active and working, as Christ said.

John 5:17-27 (New American Standard Bible)

17 But He answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”
18 For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God.
19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. 20 “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. 21 “For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. 22 “For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, 23 so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 “For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; 27 and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.

Jesus made it clear BOTH He and His Father are always working together in concert and He has in Himself life just as the Father has life in Himself, clearly multiple persons yet One God always working in full concert.

Show me a single scripture where a woman was an Elder? You need to go read Ephesians 5. It’s not some cultural facet. In Hebrew scriptures men were always temple elders, Christ picked 12 men and all church elders of the new temple, the body of Christ are to be men. Again, you fall out of agreement with scripture, to keep your man made traditions, to please people. No woman you named was a church elder and no woman you named was an apostle. All given the title “evangelist” in scripture were also men. Yes there are women who are prophets in scripture, this does not mean women are to be elders and lead in the House of God over men. Just as a woman is NOT to lead in a home over a man. Women can certainly lead and teach over other women, never over men.

1 Timothy 2:9-15 (New American Standard Bible)

9 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments,

10 but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.

11 A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.

12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.

13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.

14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.

15 But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

Do you disagree that God made Adam first too? Notice, the basis for men being leaders and never a woman over a man has NOTHING to do with cultural norms of a region.

My love for God through Jesus Christ is why I love you enough to tell you the truth, rather than keep it to myself and let you know that you proclaim heresies and promote heretics such as TD Jakes. I love God through Jesus Christ and strive daily to keep His commandments, not yours.

He has sheep not of your fold.

Jesus said this to note that Gentiles would also be called, not to claim there would be doctrines that fall out of line with the truth. Do you feel “good Muslims” go to Heaven too?

If no person is “evil” why does GOD hate some people?

Romans 9:13 (New American Standard Bible)

13 Just as it is written, “JACOB I LOVED, BUT ESAU I HATED.”

You folks who claim lines such as “God hates sin but loves the sinner” again fall out of sync with scripture. God hates the sinner who fails to repent.

Christ is divine in both His body and spirit, given even His body is now glorified.
Acts 3:13 (New American Standard Bible)

13 “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

And read over 1 Corinthians 15 again. It is because His body is glorified that ours will be changed.

You speak of the SDAs with your having very little knowledge of them. So you are attempting to defend a group you don’t really understand. Perhaps hearing it from one of their former members who learned the truth might help you The Great Confusion of Seventh Day Adventism.

And anytime you want to talk more about the heresy known as the Prosperity Doctrine, Joel Osteen or Roman Catholicism, just let me know.

  10. And read over 1 Corinthians 15 again. It is because His body is glorified that ours will be changed.

What did that have to do with our discussion? For the record, I agree completely.

Go back to Romans 12 and 13 and you will see that government is a ministry of God (Obey every ordinance of man for they are God’s ministers….). As for bringing His Kingdom in to the world, that is His work. We are to do the work of the Kingdom, he is the one who brings the kingdom. He already started that in when He sent the Holy Spirit here. The Kingdom will not come on earth as it is in heaven until the Lord himself comes back.

  11. David Anderson – Do you think any of the Roman Caesars are in Heaven? In Paul’s letter to the saints in Rome, yes government acts as a form of minister, in giving the sword to those who do evil. This does NOT mean the government is the church, or part of the body of Christ. It also does NOT mean that Christians will somehow assume rule before the return of Christ via government. Otherwise, you tell us what political office an Apostle of the Lord Jesus ran for?

And hey, you read over 1 Corinthians 15, because it is the fact the Son will turn things over to the Father, which requires 2 persons of God existing at the same time, that proves TD Jakes’ Oneness doctrine false, it proves Modalism to be a false gospel. While the doctrine of the Trinity remains consistent with scripture.

  12. Likewise, –I want— women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments.

Paul said that was his approach. The Holy Spirit didn’t allow him to make an ordinance of the church. He usually did not say things like I want or I don’t permit. This is for a reason. As for the woman came second argument, our Lord said the first shall be last and the last shall be first, but that was Paul’s advice not a command to his protege. There is a reason the Holy Spirit had him qualify those statements so there would be no contradiction with prophecy. I think it was superceded by the prophecy that I will pour out of my Spirit on all flesh….

It has been misinterpreted to exclude women when Paul had women working with him in ministry such as Phobe, Pricillia, and others. I could see someone offer that a woman shouldn’t be a Bishop which was his point. Women did not have the education that men had. Women were interupting the service to ask the meaning of things. Let the woman be quiet and ask her husband at home was totally reasonable. In our culture the average woman has more education than her husband so that doesn’t happen. You expanded it to include women in ministry. That was not the point of the letter. The Bible has a number of examples of women in ministry from Deborah and Miriam up through Philip’s daughers, Mary Magdelene who gave the good news to the apostles and the people I mentioned. That is just an incorrect assertion.

  13. So David Anderson, what Apostle in the Bible was “called to politics”? Showing me that a pagan Roman government brought wrath to evil doers does not constitute Christian ministry. It simply shows government is used at times to execute wrath. The Roman government also killed many Christians. Your prooftexting could have been used by the old Roman Caesars, to claim they were examples of the love of Christ and doing Christian ministry 🙄 …

My Bible mentions that all the governments of the world will bow to the beast, does your say something different? When I read Revelation 13, I don’t see where government will somehow stand against the evil beast, but rather for the beast.

I’ve told you already, God’s kingdom is not of this world and that means, you can’t bring it here via this government.

    Called to “politics” BAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  14. David Anderson, don’t you realize the prophesy of God pouring out his Spirit had ALREADY BEEN FULFILLED BEFORE PAUL WAS EVEN CONVERTED?!!! Read Acts 2:14-24, Peter makes it clear saying “THIS IS WHAT WAS SPOKEN OF THROUGH THE PROPHET JOEL”, they were the fulfillment and never was a woman heading over men in the church in scripture. Because God’s Word and His Spirit remain in constant agreement.

Scripture not only does not have any women in the role of Bishop or any roles over men in the church, it is expressly forbidden as I’ve already shown you. No exception for someone having a high secular or even theological education, such does NOT warrant a violation of the Word of God.

Phobe and Pricillia were not Bishops over men no more than Philip’s daughters or Mary Magdelene. None were elders in the church over any men.

You want to see who followed when Miriam would “lead”, go read Exodus 15:20. You’re forgetting Moses and Aaron were the ones who would actually “lead”.

Deborah, you need to go read how she would not go in the streets making proclamations like a male prophet such as Jonah. She would sit under a palm tree and people would go to her for judgement. She would not out in the streets claiming lead over masses and women were not elders or high priests. Not in the Old Testament and not in the New Testament of scripture either.

No scripture supports what someone like Paula White does, because she is way outside what scripture commands. In both the role she claims and her doctrine.

    David Anderson,

Should Christians in China willingly obey the one child policy and glady have the government suck out thier second baby all in the name of Jesus cuz the bible tells me so?

I have said this before no CHRISTIAN can vote for a man that believes and up holds abortion – so if you are voting for Obama you are wrong.
