Mormon And Jehovah’s Witnesses Classified As Christian By World Council Of Churches!

The two fastest-growing church bodies in the United States and Canada, according to a newly published report, are ones whose beliefs are known to conflict with traditional Christian teaching.

Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, regarded by many Christians as cults, reported the largest membership increases in a year, according to the National Council of Churches’ 2008 Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches.

Although Jehovah’s Witnesses currently rank 25th in size with over 1.06 million members, they reported a 2.25 per cent increase in membership since the publication of the 2007 Yearbook. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – also known as the Mormon church – grew 1.56 per cent and is listed by the NCC as the fourth largest ‘church’.

Notably, however, both Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Mormon church are not accepted within many Christian circles as part of the larger Body of Christ over a number of controversial beliefs that the two religions hold.

The identification of Jehovah’s Witnesses as Christian is debated largely due to their rejection of the Trinity, which most Christians regard as a fundamental doctrine. Latter-day Saints, meanwhile, are often criticised for their belief in “divine” books of scripture, aside from the Bible, including the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price.

Mormonism was formally listed under “cults and sects” by the Southern Baptist Convention – the largest Protestant denomination in the nation – but was more recently categorised among “newly developed religions” on the North American Mission Board apologetics page.

Other bodies in the newly published top 25 largest churches list that reported membership increases include the Catholic Church with a 0.87 per cent increase; the Southern Baptist Convention with a 0.22 per cent increase; the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church with a 0.21 per cent rise; and the Assemblies of God with a 0.19 per cent growth.

The greatest losses in membership were reported by the Episcopal Church, which dropped 4.15 per cent in members, and the Presbyterian Church (USA), which decreased by 2.36 per cent. Both denominations are currently wracked by theological differences and the issue of homosexuality.

American Baptist Churches in the USA and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America also experienced large losses in membership, dropping 1.82 per cent and 1.58 per cent, respectively.

“Some will wish to argue that the slowing growth rate is evidence of an increasing secularisation of American postmodern society,” said the Rev Dr Eileen W Lindner, editor of the Yearbook. “While such an explanation will satisfy some, caution in drawing such a conclusion is warranted.”

Lindner also observed that churches are feeling the impact of the lifestyles of Millenials – people in their 20s and 30s – who attend church but resist becoming members.

The United Methodist Church saw a 0.99 per cent decrease but the mainline group remains the third largest church body with nearly 8 million members.

Only three of the top 10 largest churches are mainline Protestant churches; three of the top 25 are Pentecostal churches; and six of the top 15 are historic African American churches.

  1. Liars lie especially in the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. with their figure of 3,500,000 . In actual fact as seen by the Dr. Henry J. Lyons fiasco the figures are pure imagination – see http://cnt10d.tripod.com/lyons.htm

And as for the Southern Baptist Convention – 16,306,246 this number mean nothing when less than 5,000,000 attend church on a regular basis according to a prominent SBC pastor.

So in actual fact all these numbers are a joke!

  2. *A heads up on the Jehovah Witness*

There is no Armageddon that will annihilate 6.5 billion people, and install Watchtower leaders as world rulers.

The core dogma of the Watchtower organization is that Jesus had his second coming ‘invisibly’ in the year 1914.Their entire doctrinal superstructure is built on this falsehood.

Jehovah’s Witnesses door to door recruitment is by their own admission an ineffective tactic. They have lost membership in all countries with major Internet access because their false doctrines and harmful practices are exposed on the modern information superhighway.

There is good and valid reasons why there is such an outrage against the Watchtower for misleading millions of followers. Many have invested everything in the ‘imminent’ apocalyptic promises of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and have died broken and beaten.

Every Jehovah’s Witness member will grow old and die just like everyone else.

You realise that in the list of 25 above, 24 of them have one thing in common. They hate the ones listed at 25.

They have renounced all violence, have the other 24? The have renounced politics because Jesus did, have the other 24? They have people in jails (several thousands) because they “will learn war no more” and “put away the sword”, do any of the other 24? They renounce those among their midst (disfellowship) those guilty and not repentant, adultery, immorality, greed leading extortion, stealing, rape, kidnapping or any form of violent behaviour, sowing mistrust and lying… do any of the other 24?

Go to your local jail – we do – and see how many Jehovah’s Witnesses are in there? That’s the blessing of acting on what the Bible says about “remove the evil man from among yourself” by putting them outside. (They can still come back if they change their ways.)

We had trouble preaching at the local jail to inmates. This is a VERY LARGE prison. They would not allow us inside because in this VERY LARGE prison there were no Jehovah’s Witness inmates. When we pointed out why, they relented because they could see we would be an influence for GOOD!

In the US, one person in 150 is in jail. AMAZING.

They only put Jehovah’s Witnesses in jail when they say NO to violence and military service. In South Korea (not North, ironically), right now there are over 800 – EIGHT HUNDRED – Witnesses in jail, despite the fact they are exemplary citizens and not broken any law.

So you they have “mislead millions”?

If only that was BILLIONS – then we would have a WORLD OF PEACE… and NO NEED FOR JAILS.

PS: My Father was arrested for two years for refusing military service, my brother and I fled the country of our birth in order not to risk the same.

Actually, the number of Jehovah’s Witnesses is much larger, they only declare the number of “Publishers” and not children – you have to be old enough and THEN become a Publisher. I suggest the real number would be well over 1.5 Million,

      That is to be expected.

In Acts 28 the Jews speaking to Paul under arrest said Christians were called a ‘sect’ back there and then and also “nobody has anything good to say about them” and “for truly as regards this sect it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

Sounds like Jehovah’s Witnesses today – Paul would have been more concerned if the opposite was the truth. When you are a real Christian, expect to be a REAL outsider.

Christianity, the REAL kind, was never mainstream – and those who read the Bible properly would know that. 2 Cor 4:4,

Here something says something very mysteriously that I have NEVER heard somebody from a mainstream ‘Christian’ religion quote.

      Jesus:

“Now there is a judging of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.”

What did Jesus mean by that?

John: “We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.”

Is there any doubt WHO this is?

Paul: “The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers.”

      Which “god” is that?

James: “Friendship with the world is enmity with God.”

Wow, no friendship with the World – unless you want to be an Enemy of God?

You need to be an outsider? YES!

      Satan HIMSELF said to Jesus:

“So he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; and the Devil said to him: “I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it.””

      Satan GIVES POWER !!!

      So WHO gave power to:

Adolf Hitler? Stalin? Mussolini? Idi Amin? Sadam Hussein? ALL POLITICIANS.

Why did Daniel report about an angel as “the Prince of Persia”? A demon Prince? Behind the then World Power of Persia, the USA of that era. Huh?

Paul again: “we have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.”

“Spirit forces?” Those are NOT Politicians, these are the POWERS that are ABOVE the Politicians.

No wonder Jesus said: “They are NO PART OF THIS WORLD, just as I AM NO PART OF THIS WORLD.

So now you KNOW why Jehovah’s Witnesses do not vote.

And also, all those Church-goers are NOT TOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT “WHO” IS THE REAL RULER OF THE WORLD.

They are all asleep, just the way Satan wants them.

So when you hear that knock on the door, these are people who will TELL YOU what others are hiding from you.

Have you ever heard the Pope saying “This is Satan’s World”!

The Bible says that MANY TIMES!

Those who are NOT saying it, and pointing it out, as did Jesus, as did John, as did Luke, as did James… they are PART OF THE WORLD.

      That’s mainstream religion for you.

And they are certainly not part of the solution.

PS: No Jehovah’s Witness wrote the above parts of the Bible – they are in EVERY BIBLE – and never quoted by mainstream Christianity. Something’s wrong here, smelly in fact.

Jehovah’s Witnesses reject the Trinity doctrine because it is not from the Bible. It is a manmade false teaching invented in the 4th century. Jesus never taught the false doctrine, therefore, anyone teaching that is far from being a Christian from lower of Christ.
