The belief of medicating behavior, to me, seems counterproductive and poses a greater risk of poor mental health. We allow our children to watch things (Nickelodeon etc), eat a poor diet, and offer no structure with study, work, and play. I remember when one of my sons was young, he was very hyper, jumping all over the place, & being OVERLY goofy most of the time. My husband and I discovered that Nickelodeon had to go, and outdoor play and a few chores were added to his daily routine. His behavior in time changed drastically for the better. Now when parents are talking about a hyper son and I tell them my 17 yr old used to be just like that, they can’t believe it (and neither does my 17yr old, we have to pull out the old home videos as proof).

Hyper boys who need to learn to pay attention have been around since Adam and Eve. Parents and families have dealt with these issues without the use of drugs, for thousands of years.

So if you are a parent I prescribe to you “Joshua 1:9, 1Cor 13, & Gal 6:9” three times a day for 40-60 or more years. (smiley)

    God bless.

Agreed. Kids need outdoor play, a good diet and proper parenting. But there is a new alternative when you are too busy to be a parent….Drugs. Today we are more dependent on drugs than ever before but psychiatrists and other experts will tell you that we are simply diagnosing it earlier. Nonsense, it has been there since the beginning of time.

There is only one reason why there is a push to prescribe more drugs and diagnose psychiatric disorders in kids as young as 2 years old….MONEY. The pharmaceutical companies are making billions from convincing you that your child needs drugs. Putting your child on a drug for depression is a life long sentence which means more money. Read between the lines parents. If you are giving your child ritalin or one of the other numerous toxic choices, you might as well be giving your child a crack pipe.

Do you know how long Ritalin has been around? Forty years. My sister took Ritalin back in the late 1960s. She was only given Ritalin when she was in school; my mother had to handle her without it after school, on weekends and during the summer. My sister is now a mother of two children, one of whom is on a scholarship at a prestigious southern university, the other is about to graduate high school. She is also the family breadwinner at this time (husband trying to get business off the ground). She is certainly no criminal.

There are reasons to object to overmedicating children, but don’t paint with a broad brush–because you start to sound like you’re from the “church” of $cientology.
