Ministry Report: Love And Obey

Love and Obey
From Dr. J.
Vernon McGee’s  Edited Messages on DeuteronomyGod’s love is actually expressed in law. The great principle of law is love. Therefore the principle of the gospel itself is expressed in Deuteronomy.  “… God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son …” (John 3:16).You and I express our love for God in our obedience. The Lord Jesus put it like this: “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).This is still the acid test today. If we love Him, we will keep His commandments. Salvation is a love affair. Continue reading here.

A Family UnitedDear Thru the Bible,
My brother was forbidden to listen to your daily Bible broadcasts because our parents wanted nothing to do with religion. They were members of the old Armenian Communist hierarchy. My brother would listen to the broadcasts at the home of a friend. My sister and I began to see a remarkable change in our brother’s lifestyle and demeanor, and we were curiously attracted to the broadcasts. Our parents allowed us to listen to the programs on condition that we report to them our opinions regarding the nature and content. In the following months our lives were dramatically impacted by the Word of God, and we are now true followers of Jesus Christ. Our parents were impressed by our love and prayers for them and joined us in listening to the broadcasts. For the past four years we have gathered every evening at
9:30 for the Thru the Bible broadcasts of Dr. J. Vernon McGee and family worship. We are now a family in Christ and attend a Bible-believing church in
where the gospel is faithfully proclaimed.

Assembled Together
The Portuguese TTB program contributes to the creation of a new church!

Portugal has relatively few evangelical churches. Most of those are in the major cities. The TTB series has been on the air [in
Portugal] for about 2 ½ years. It is aired over local commercial FM stations. It has been our great joy to see a number of people come to faith in Jesus Christ as a result of hearing the programs. Sunday, 1 October [of 2006] was a very special day for the team that produces the Portuguese TTB programs. We assembled in the southern town of
Boavista dos Pinheiros for a service of dedication. Some months ago we noticed that we had received a significant number of contacts from listeners in this area of the southern region of
Portugal, known as the
Algarve. Normally, we would refer listeners to a local evangelical church, but this area did not have one. The director of our office, Ruben Pirola, asked these listeners if they would be interested in beginning a local Bible study group. Ruben, along with Pastor Paulo Chaveiro (the voice of the TTB series), and another pastor from
Lisbon began weekly trips to Boavista to organize a “

Center” for these spiritually hungry listeners. By the way, Boavista is known as a center of Spiritism. On Sunday, 1 October, we had the great joy of dedicating the

Community Center. In addition to the 20 to 25 local believers, more than 100 believers from the two churches in
Lisbon made the 2-hour drive to Boavista to assist in the dedication service. We praise the Lord for the way he has used the Portuguese TTB programs to help lay the foundation for a new church in a region where there has been no local evangelical witness until now.

Praise and Prayer NeedsPraise God for the overwhelming response to the new French TTB website, ! Within two months of its launch in January of this year, hundreds of programs had been downloaded by listeners all over France. Our Hebrew team has alerted us to an urgent prayer need. They write: “There is a major persecution of a group of messianic Jews and Christians in the city of
Arad. We ask you to pray for those Christians in
Arad…for their safety and for their strength in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and
Israel.” Please pray for those who are tuning in our programs in all sensitive countries and areas of the world. May our Lord protect them as they are listening and growing in their faith.Pray that there would be an increase in listener response to our Spanish-Castilian program, aired in
Spain. Response has slowed down as of late, and it’s discouraging to the team – so pray, also, that they would take heart and remember that their rewards come from God above. Pray also for those listeners who are staying in touch, as 95% of them are not evangelical Christians. Some are church-going Catholics who are discovering the Bible for the first time and are enthusiastic about  understanding it more, but most are non-believers with no religious ties.

You Said It!
Letters from ListenersKOK BOROK, from
Agartala, India: I am listening to the program regularly and receiving the Lord’s blessings in my life. Since I am working in the government defense department my life involves many risks. I believe that it is only Jesus who is protecting me when I fall into any kind of danger. He is taking care of me. Through this program I have received much encouragement. Pray for my parents that they may come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.CROATIAN, from
Croatia: I am very grateful to God but also to you all for your endeavors in God’s work. God is very merciful to me and my mother. We are happy that we can listen to your programs together and pray together. Your programs are for us a great blessing and we need it – especially in this time where the devil is trying very hard to get people on his side. We also have told friends and family of your programs because they also need this blessing of God. I work with young people and I give them the recordings of your songs and teachings on cassette. May God bless you and His Word.ROMANIAN, from
Romania: Your program comforts me every time I hear it and gives me peace. Therefore I had the desire to write and express my gratitude for your work. I simply can’t find my words to thank God for this opportunity that He gave us to listen about Him on radio. In my opinion, [this] work is evangelizing the Romanian people, and in this many souls could be touched. I pray that many people could find salvation of our Lord through you.

Q & A With McGee
Selected from our Questions and Answers program
Q:  What is a “carnal Christian”?A: Paul says, “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:1). So the carnal Christian is a babe in Christ; he doesn’t understand the Word of God at all and doesn’t have much of a heart for that. Paul continues, “For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” (v. 3). The very fact that you have strife in any Christian organization – be it a church, a mission board or a radio program – there you have carnal Christians. That’s the mark of carnality, the fact that they can’t get along with other Christians. The second mark is that some were saying, “I’m with Paul” and others, “I’m with Apollos” – they follow men rather than follow God. That is the problem a great many Christians have today – they follow certain Christian leaders, talking about which radio teachers they like or don’t like. But when you talk like that, it’s carnality. Because most of the men on radio are attempting to teach the Word of God the way they feel God is leading and guiding them, and that’s true in the church. Carnality manifests itself in that way. And there are several other characteristics. One of the evidences of their carnality is that they all wanted to speak in tongues, and that just doesn’t happen to be a measure of spirituality but of carnality. They were also having problems at the Lord’s Table. One was suing another in the law. And they were attempting to do things in the flesh by their own strength. All of these things, friend, indicate the carnality that is in Christians and determines what’s a carnal Christian. Believe me, there are quite a few of them around today.

Something to Think About
From Dr. J. Vernon McGee’s booklet “How You Can Have the Assurance of Salvation” Lack of love for another believer robs more Christians of real enjoyment and satisfaction in the Christian life than perhaps any other single factor. It not only blights the soul of the Christian, but it also destroys any public testimony.

forgive me for using this post, to comment and get a link to you. Your blog has been a blessing to me and I am reading another blog that I hope will bless you too.
I am still on the first page.

also, I am not apologizing for choosing this post, because Dr. Magee has blessed me my whole life, as I used to listen to him daily when I was a teenager and young adult in my 20’s and still hear him whenever I am out in the car on errands!

    God Bless Us,
