Women Preachers Again: Mary Mary Versus Paula White, Medina Pullings, Joyce Meyer, Juanita Bynum, Etc.

 The Three Step Salvation Plan

Now I was listening to this rather strange fellow on Christian radio one day who was trying to mix Christianity with Judaism. I am not talking about a Messianic Jew (the fellow was black) but he was claiming that Christians still needed to follow the 613 laws in order to please God. I listened to him for awhile just to see what he had to say (because it was obvious that he had spent a great deal of time studying the Hebrew language and Jewish tradition) but I decided that I could not learn anything from him because THE FELLOW WAS LITERALLY OUT OF HIS MIND and never listened to his show again. Yet, even in this fellow’s mentally addled condition, he managed to prove one of our more common cliches: even stopped clocks are right twice a day. On this particular instance, he was rising up in opposition to women preachers, explaining that a great many churches (apparently he had some sort of background in ministry and knew a lot of behind the scenes information) were promoting women preachers SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WERE VERY USEFUL IN FUNDRAISING. And why not? People trust women more than they do men. It is easier for a woman to manipulate and play on the emotions than a man (Paula White). More women regularly attend and financially support churches than men (all of these very financially lucrative “women’s conferences” run by Darlene Bishop and similar). Authoritative women are able to manipulate men who want – or need – that “mother figure” to open up their wallets as well as women who want – or need – that “father figure” to tell them what to do (Juanita Bynum is OUTSTANDING at this). And then there is this Medina Pullings person and those like her. A great many men (and not a few women) will free up their wallets, checkbooks, and credit cards in response to a woman who is just plain flat out attractive. Now I had been myself noticing how so many of these female preachers, especially the women co – pastors of male head pastors, JUST HAPPEN TO LOOK LIKE ACTRESSES AND MODELS AND HAVE NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER FLAUNTING IT (and that speaks nothing of a certain segment of our female gospel singers, many of whom are also preachers and pastors). Now I was avoiding commenting on this because, well, why mislead: I was being a lily – livered chicken! (A small revelation here: a great deal of the material that I put on this site absolutely terrifies me to write, sometimes so much so that I delay putting some things up for days or even longer at a time until I pray up the nerve to, so people who continually insist that I am just on here “accusing, pointing fingers, judging, tearing people down”, etc. out of jealousy or bitterness or for my own amusement really couldn’t be further from the truth … I actually derive no pleasure from this whatsoever and really would rather be doing something else, but I have this compulsion to warn people about false doctrine so they won’t have to endure a 30 year nightmare like I did.)  But fortunately, someone else was having thoughts on this matter similar to mine, and seeing their post on the issue emboldened me to FINALLY put something out that I should have a long time ago.

The irony here is that a great many women regard being allowed to preach and hold offices in church as some women’s rights issue. But it turns out that a lot of the institutions that are allowing women to preach are exploiting them in a very sexist manner. First of all, consider Katharine Jefferts Schori, the leader of the Episcopalian denomination. She was given her position PRECISELY so she could lead the charge for approval of homosexuality and to make other radical changes that oppose scripture because the people who installed her wanted those changes and knew that a MAN would face much more opposition. And yes, Schori (and her supports and the media) have ALWAYS played the gender card, claiming that the REAL REASON why she faces SO MUCH OPPOSITION is BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN. That came in very handy a few weeks ago in her showdown with the African bishops in particular, because taking a harder line against her (the planned boycott of communion never took place) would have been portrayed as sexist third world African men opposing having a woman in authority and sharing power with them rather than the abiblical stances that she was taking.

But if the tactics of the liberal Christians are bad, if anything the conservative evangelicals are worse. For instance, consider the Whites and the Meyers. Now Randy White and Dave Meyer are the HEAD PASTORS. Paula White and Joyce Meyer are the CO – PASTORS. So why are Paula and Joyce the ones with the TV shows and are the public faces for their churches and ministries? Because they are more telegenic. For instance, Paula White has the #1 rated show on BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION. SHE GETS HIGHER RATINGS THAN TD JAKES. Would that happen if RANDY was running the show? Please. Less than 1/4 of these black people (the overwhelming majority of them WOMEN) who watch Paula White on BET and the Word Network would give Randy White the time of day. He’d be just another TV preacher from the deep south, and probably (gasp!) A REPUBLICAN! The same with Joyce Meyer, who doesn’t have Paula White’s black following, but actually has a bigger following overall, especially overseas. Virtually none of these people would tune in to watch another guy from the midwest talk scripture. But the whole world just loves to watch Joyce Meyer get up there and talk about how messed up she used to be because she was molested by her father and treated cruelly and then abandoned by her first husband, AND HOW GOD DELIVERED HER FROM IT ALL AND TURNED HER LIFE AROUND ALL THANKS TO HER TITHING!

Paula White has a similar story. Now were it Randy White telling the same story over and over again about how God turned their lives around when they gave $1000 to some TV preacher when they didn’t even have enough money to pay their bills and put food on the table, people would accuse Randy of doing a terrible job of fulfilling his God – given responsibility of being steward of his family’s finances and spreading false doctrine to justify his error AND causing other people (who work regular jobs for a living and will not get their “increase” from more people putting more money in the offering plate like they do) to do the same with his words and example. But Paula can get up there and talk about how “I was this messed up trailer trash girl from Mississippi and Randy’s family didn’t even want him to marry me and he used to come home and catch me hiding in the closet crying but God brought us out of all that thanks to our seed – sowing” and cry a couple of times (always facing the camera) and SHE IS IMMEDIATELY EXEMPT FROM ALL ACCOUNTABILITY.

It is getting so bad that I wonder when these pastors are choosing wives what they are seeking. True love? A helpmeet and partner in Christ? Or a very attractive photogenic cash cow? BECAUSE IT CERTAINLY DOES APPEAR THAT SUCH IS EXACTLY WHAT A LOT OF THESE LEADING PREACHERS WIND UP WITH AS THEIR WIVES/CO – PASTORS! I mean, what are they doing? Having beauty pageants (which yes, does include talent and speaking competitions, and if you don’t believe me just ask the guy who calls Paula White her pastor, Donald Trump, owner of the Miss USA pageant) or something?

I used to see these telegenic co – pastor/wives as merely something that went with the territory; a perk that went along with being a big time preacher. But now I am beginning to really wonder if it is actually “part of doing business”! A bit of confirmation on this: watching Yolanda Adams and Mary Mary (along with Israel Houghton and J. Moss) on TBN’s “Praise The Lord.” (By the way, if you are a Christian who wants to entertain any notions regarding whether Christians should reject the world and also conduct themselves in a dignified manner, DO NOT EMULATE YOLANDA ADAMS OR MARY MARY, and I say this as a HUGE FAN of Mary Mary.) One of the Atkins sisters (I forget which) was explaining in her normal VERY GHETTO FABULOUS MANNER (and Yolanda Adams was carrying on in the same fashion, and I kept thinking to myself “THIS WOMAN IS A COLLEGE GRADUATE AND USED TO BE A SCHOOLTEACHER!”) how she received a marriage proposal from this young preacher who was the son of a very influential pastor AND WHO HAD VERY BIG AMBITIONS OF HIS OWN. She stated that she liked the guy and that she was very tempted (what church girl doesn’t want to be a preacher’s wife, especially when that preacher is the son of an influential pastor who himself is on the rise?), but ultimately prayed and was told by the Lord that if she married that man she would never fulfill the ministry and purpose that God had for her.

And why do you suppose that was? Because her purpose would have then been to serve as the very attractive showpiece for this guy to use to attract members (look, guys go where pretty women are, OK, so guys would have joined this fellow’s church just to come size up that Atkins woman every week, and their wives would just have to put up with it) and donations. And sure, she would have still been able to do her music ministry (perhaps reusing the dance moves and attire that served her so well as backup singer for the secular group “702“) and even been allowed to preach and co – pastor, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ALL ABOUT EXPLOITING HER MODEL LOOKS TO GROW THIS GUY’S CHURCH AND GET HIM ON TV. God knew this, and you know what even though she didn’t say so on “Praise” (lest her jilted beau was watching) I am certain that she knew it too. The best part: SINCE SHE IS STILL VERY YOUNG AND BY THE TIME OF THE INTERVIEW HAD SINCE GONE ON TO MARRY SOMEONE ELSE AND BECOME A PARENT, THIS “MARRIAGE PROPOSAL” HAD TO HAVE COME TO HER WHEN SHE WAS STILL IN HER LATE TEENS/VERY EARLY TWENTIES! So yes, obviously this big time pastor’s son (and no doubt the big time pastor himself) had a plan, and she was part of it.

But God had a plan for her as well, and fortunately she followed it, and is using her God – given gifts (which DOES include some preaching and teaching ability) to honor serve and honor Him without being in DIRECT EXPLICIT contradiction to scripture. Again, God just said that a woman cannot preach, teach, or hold a position of authority over a man in a church capacity. He never said that a woman could not do those things on her CDs and DVDs and touring in concerts as a gospel artist. So women who have the gift to pastor, preach, and teach, the Atkins sisters (Mary Mary) are yet another example of how to use your gifts while being obedient to scripture, even if they do need to drop the ebonics and dress a bit more modestly (but hey, I can look past that, after all no one is perfect, least of all me).

Father God in the Name of Jesus Christ, please raise up your mighty hand against all those who are perverting the gospel for gain and with false doctrines, and those who know Your Word but choose to live in rebellion to it. May those who do so out of ignorance, please show them the error of their ways, and those who deceive on purpose please pull Your people away from them. We know, Father, that Your Will must be done, that all things must be fulfilled, and people have to decide which they love foremost, You or themselves. I am merely asking, Father, that the eyes of the deceived be opened and that they choose to seek after and fight for Your righteousness. Amen.

Well thank you very much, but thank God for God. I am just another sinner (and a very revolting demonic possessed one at that) who was saved by grace. If God can save me, He can save anybody!

    As for Paula White Teaching.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

    As for the dress.
1Ti 2:9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
Having problems with Gods word! The word is his will.
Mt 7:15 “Watch out for false prophets. w They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. x
Mt 7:16 By their fruit you will recognize them. y Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? z
Mt 7:17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
Mt 7:18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. a
Mt 7:19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Mt 7:20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Mt 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ c will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Mt 7:22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’
Mt 7:23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Repent & do Gods will. For not all who call out Jesus name will be saved.

    A few comments.

    1. All Ministers are human. This must never be forgotten. They are flawed in some way or another. If the Lord had to find the perfect person to minister his Word; he would not find anyone who is good enough. Men who are ministers are still men. They still desire good looking women, just as a man who is not saved would. Hopefully, having a good looking wife will help that man of God from desiring another women. Anyone who has been a Christian for any length of time should know that temptation will come. A man who is satisfied with his wife, can often deal with those temptations better. CHristian women still like to look good, and they still like nice things. Why do we think ministers are not human? Thankfully, God looks upon the heart to see if it truely loves him, and will serve him as a willing vessel. King David was a man after God’s own heart, but he too was a man who desired beautiful women. This was evident by the sin he committed with Bathsheba. David also had many wives. Do we tear out the Psalms from the Bible, because of David’s sin? absolutely not. As with God, try to see the heart of our ministers to see if they are really after the heart of the Father. If they are, then forgive their imperfections and pray for them.

    2. No one listens to a poor man. Read what king Soloman wrote about it.

Ecclesiastes 9:13 This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me: 14There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: 15Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. 16Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

A poor mans words are not heard and are DESPISED.How does a poor man influence anyone? God blesses those who will do his will. Blessing is proof their is a God who honors his covenant.

Send a poor man to the nations and see how effective he is. How little respect he has. God will increase the wealth of his people if they obey his Word.

Pray for Paula and Randy that God will help them to overcome their faults.

    • terry said

      1. “A poor man is despised…” You completely missed the point of the story. The poor man saved the city! Of course, he was listened to. Wisdom is better than strength. This was an admonition to seek Wisdom in spite of the shallow values of the people who only remember the rich people who can’t save them. Don’t put your trust in riches or strength – there might be someone richer or stronger who can overwhelm you. Put your strength in Wisdom, which can defeat great strength and riches. Don’t be fooled by the fame associated with riches and strength – in the long run, it doesn’t matter.

      2. You forget that Christ was poor. “The Son of Man has no place to rest his head.” He asked the rich young ruler to sell everything he had, give it to the poor and follow him. In other words, the rich young ruler would not be effective until he gave away all his riches and became poor himself. It was a requirement to follow Jesus.

      3. “It is harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.”

The subjects you addressed are crucial to equip the Body of Christ to truly know Him, His Word and have a discerning spirit for false teachings and deceptive spirits. I just pray that you allow the Lord to continually examine your heart and ensure you are led of the Spirit. As one who He has admonished to take a stand against false teaching, I’ve had to do so with a spirit of boldness, humility and love.

    In Christ,

  7. Shirley:

And greetings in return to you, Sister in Christ Jesus. The charges that you lay towards me are commonly made, very understandable, and quite legitimate. Please know, however, that I have two goals when I write about subject matter such as this. The first is to emulate the speech and manner of such Bible writers as Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Paul. I believe that if I speak after myself, I could A) mislead people and B) start glorifying myself. But if I speak after the Bible, I cannot mislead people, and God is being glorified through His Word rather than me being glorified. My second goal is to purposefully use as forceful a manner of speech and as much direct and explicit descriptive language as I could, so that my statements would be in proportion to the spiritual threat being posed. I considered using a milder approach, but I decided against it. Why? You have a lot of people out there trying to be sensitive and respectful when dealing with this subject matter. In a lot of ways this is good, but you also have to consider that the main problem to begin with is these false preachers giving the masses what they want and telling them what they want to hear. These babes in Christ are already being fed corrupt dirty milk (filled with sedatives) and are being rocked to sleep with nice reassuring words from these false preachers. Well, if you come at them with nice reassuring words concerning the devil’s doctrines that they are following after, they will be unable to distinguish between your truth delivered softly and the lies that are killing them softly. I am purposefully speaking in a different manner, shouting at them if you will, to shock them. To wake them up. To get them out of their comfort zone and admit that they are following after lies. And you know what? I have had a deal of success. A lot of these people admit that these preachers are corrupt and preaching lies, but state that they are going to keep following them anyway because it is what THEY want to do; that it is s about what THEY WANT rather than what God wants. And that is fine with me. Why? Because 1) on judgment day, these people will not be able to say that they weren’t warned. 2) On judgment day, it won’t be said about ME that I abdicated my responsibility to warn them. 3) A lot of people read these posts and the responses without commenting, and they SEE these people being forced by my manner of speech to to CONFESS that they are following false preachers not out of a desire to please God but out of the hardness of their own hearts. That is precisely why I allow all comments; even the negative ones from hard – hearted people serve a purpose. So yes, I am aware of your concern, and I always pray and do my very best to be extremely careful when I put these sorts of posts up. But ultimately, I have a job to do. I do not serve or speak for myself, but for my master which is God. And if I do not do the job that God gave me AND do it the way God wants it done, it is HIM that I will have to answer for. I fear God’s judgment, not man’s. I am not saying that you do not. We are one Body made up of different members. Maybe your part, your portion, your job, is different from mine. But I know what my job is, I know what the consequences of my not doing it are, and for that reason I cannot and will not be deterred no matter the cost. I am not someone proudly lifting himself up to be some great prophet, but just a mere man trembling before the reality that a mighty God that will judge me one day, and for all I know that day might be today for tomorrow is promised to no man.

  8. T. Williams said

From your comments, I know that many disagree with the judgments posted on your site. I believe that you feel a certain responsibility to point out the error in those whom you criticize. Indeed, some of the very flaws you note are ones that I have observed. However, you appear to look for and magnify those flaws rather than focus on the messages and the lives of those you condemn. It is amazing to me that those ministers you attack have great ministries that win so many souls to the Lord, feed the poor, have outreaches in many countries including the USA. I have followed the majority of these ministers, not slavishly, but as one who seeks the face of God. Much of what you publish sounds like gossip and opinion mixed with some truth. This is a dangerous recipe for confusion and misleading others who have not heard or studied or benefitted from the sincere testimony of those you persecute. Make no mistake. This site is a form of persecution in that many who would be won to the Lord will develop cynocism and confirmation of judgmental attitudes. Your knowledge of the word and your desire to serve your Lord and Savior may better be used in winning souls rather than contributing to the distrust that some Christians have of others of different faiths, and experiences from their own. For example, I watched the program with Yolanda Adams and Mary Mary. They have the sweetest personalities and love for the Lord and yet speak the language of youthful blacks. They are positive role models for today’s young people, and especially, young ladies. Your comments on the attractiveness and dress of women preachers have me wondering where your mind is. Our Lord and Savior reminded us to first remove the beam from our own eyes before trying to remove the mote from the eyes of those we criticize. That’s a simple but important rule that helps me to forgive others and leave the judging to God. He knows the real you and me. And by the way, I am a black woman who considers both Imus and rappers who denigrate black women offensive. Both should be condemned. Connecting this to censorship of the Church is a twisted way of thinking. Jesus commanded us to love others as we love ourselves, to think more highly of others than ourselves, to judge not lest we be judged, not to give way to Phariseism or promoting the traditions of men above those of God. I hope I am encouraging you and others to look to Jesus as our only role model for what is good and perfect. Mercifully, His shed Blood covers our multitude of sins and we are works in progress. In the final analysis, we shall be changed in His image to immortality in a twinkling of an eye. That is the hope that we have in Jesus and of Heaven: not by our own works but by His grace.
    In His Name,
    T. Williams

  9. T. Williams: Jesus Christ said that “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” That is what you should keep in mind with regards to preachers that despite their good works still pervert doctrine and lack personal integrity. So I direct to you this prayer: may the blessings of God be upon you and the peace of His Spirit rest with you, and may you have success knowing and doing His Will. In the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Are you jealous of those famous women. Maybe you could become famous by putting down others seriously doubt it. Preaching is giving a message. A woman carried the word 9 months and a woman was sent to get his disciples after jesus’s death. Oh by the way the diciples were men!!!

  11. Tat: Perhaps I am jealous of and threatened by strong women. Wait a minute … except that strong women don’t exploit their looks and cry and act all emotionally unstable to get people to give them money. Strong women like my wife work hard and serve God according to what the Bible says. It is an exceptionally hard thing to do, but men and women do manage it. A false preacher is just another person who loves God more than he loves himself, and that is something that we believers need to realize. We also need to realize that when judgment day comes, false preachers and those who follow them will be judged according to a higher standard. That is the what I try to make my motivation and the focus of everything that I do in my life at all times: what God is going to say to me on judgment day. (I did not say that I succeed, only that I try.) What about you? What is your motivation? What is the focus of your life? What do you try to do?

I used to follow all of these people and after getting into the word for myself and stop quoting what they said and starting to heed to my own spirit the truth was revealed to me. I just want people to wake up and know God for themselves and stop allowing other people to tell them what God Says. When you can know God for yourself. I believe that yes those pastors are great men and women but they have taken it waaaaaaaaaaay to far. I think that everyone should have nice things and prosper there is a line when they all start preaching about how they all need a plane to get to all of the speaking engagments and how they all need a studio to preach the word. Its seems like they are all competing with each other to see how much they can get and out do each other. Which is very carnal and very worldly. And I understand that we are all human and will make mistakes but again this has gone waaaaaaaaaaaaay to far. What would happen when everyone starts to seek God and know God for themselves and they get a revelation of their own. It would put these guys out of business. Thank you for your website. I have felt that things were going wrong but just really didn’t know how wrong or what was wrong. I just knew something in me felt wrong. Because the God that I know and believe in just doesn’t really match up with those ministries anymore. It just feels wrong. I can’t explain it.

    Thanks for sharing

    Good Day,

It is interesting to me to se how we can have a forum on all the wrong the Men and Women of God are doing? So, by judging them what do you attain? We are murmering against the word of the Lord. Let me ask you this, Are the Men and Women of God to day:

Impacting lives through the word of God?
A Living testiomony of what God has done?

Better yet what are you doing to win souls for the kingdom? If you follow after a Man/Woman of God and not the word you will fail everytime. If you follow the word of God and living according to it you shall not fail. It is true most saved folk will not enter in to the kingdom of God. Instead of judging them let us lift them up. Because you just don’t know what God laid out for their lives. Let God Be God and let the body of Christ starting win more souls for the kingdom.Let’s us stop judging so we might not be judged, and start loving the people of God.

I happened upon this site, or so I thought. As I began to read the information you published I became aware of one fact; it’s people like you who distort and confuse others. I am reminded of a scripture that must be in a different Bible than what you use, that says, “satan comes to steal kill and destroy.” Jesus said, “but I am come so that you may have life and life in abundance. The only message I received from your article was an attempt to steal my joy, kill my hope and destroy my beliefs. I was unable to identify the “LIFE” giving message. I have found it so very interesting that few people, especially those who are not pastors, understand what pastoring is. We have taken that term and turned it into a lording position. When it really is an office of servanthood. The pastor is not to rule over any one, he/she is to watch for and care for the flock of God. So many have taken possession of what rightfully belongs to God and placed our names on it. Things such as, “Our Church”, “My Members”. When we realized that it is impossible to be a Christian without telling the good news of Jesus. If God in all of His wisdom says, “Let the wheat and the tares grow together.” What gives us the right to try to seperate. When we come to the realization that Christianity is about being servants and not lords. Our fight is not with eachother. If Paul was able to come to the conclusion that it did not matter why people preached or taught about Jesus, as long as Jesus was being preached. I too wrestle with forums like this, whether or not to sign in. I believe that God is soveriegn, He allows what He allows for a reason. Therefore, if there is anyone who has had a second thought about listening to a man, woman or child preach the gospel or watch for your soul. Please study to show yourself approved of God. That you may know what is the good and perfect will for your life. If God needs to use a donkey, a dog, a man, or a woman to speak to me to get my attention, I say, “SPEAK ON”. Oh and by the way I am a woman, I am a preacher, I serve often in the capacity of a prophet. Judge as you will. This is one thing I know, the struggles in your own life and in your own home would be better served if you toiled over them with God as you say you did with your article. You can express your bias opinion in this forum because you have no power where you are.

    In God’s Grace

  17. Saved In Alabama:

OK, we know what you believe. Now tell me: what does the Bible say? I will give you a few scriptures. I Timothy 2:12 – But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. Then there are I Corinthians 14:34 – 35. So who is right? The Bible or you? One must be either in error, rebellious, disobedient, or lying here. Which is it? This is not to say that women cannot minister the Word of God. But the Bible is clear that women cannot serve in positions of authority over men in the church. It is not my Word, but rather God’s Word.

I would just like to know if you have ever studied 1 Timothy in depth. If not let me just share a little enlightenment. During that time the stucture of the temple was made where the women sat at the top and their husbands sat at the bottom. The women would then yell down and ask their husbands to explain to them what was going on. Paul uses one word “I” that allows us to understand that he was expressing his thought on the subject matter. This is the same Paul that wrote Galatians 3:26 and I quote, “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slaves nor free, male or female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the Promise.” There are so many scriptures that we could use to try and validate our points. Which is very futile. Now I don’t know what congregation you may be a part of but in the places where I have traveled in the U.S. as well as abroad their is one continuous scene, more women than men. If you want to lead where are you? If the women really kept silent as you suggest, there would be no choirs, no ushers, and basically no money. If you would also research history, you will find that it was not a custom for women to give money. It was the duty of the men to sustain the workings of the sanctuary. So if we follow your theology can you imagine what financial woes most congregations would have. We all, including myself, can never study enough. We can never know enough. It is imperative that we seek out other resources to help enhance our understanding of scripture. History plays a major role in the application of scripture. After all there are not, in this country, any more slaves. However, Paul tells slaves to obey their masters. The scripture gives you an understanding of respecting authority but are we to revert back to slavery in order to fulfill this scripture. I really don’t care whether people think I should or should not pastor,or preach. We must all realize that only what we do for Christ will last. I must do the work of my Father while it is day. When night comes no one can work. It just amazes me that this is only an argument in the church. I don’t see many men who have CEO’s as wives requiring them to quit because they have male employees. Again let us take out time to search the scriptures for in them we believe we have eternal life. It’s all about ETERNITY and it is not gender bias.

And the church said, “Amen.” It’s past time for the body of Christ to know the truth. I for one welcome it, even if it means the light will shine on something lacking in my own life. For too long we have listened to and embraced the out of context message of prosperity. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32. I want to be free.

Women are not the only ones being abused so are men and boys.

Only a select group of men are worthy of the role. All others need to stop their fraudulent deeds.

These frauds who assume the pulpit and abuse people usually were not qualified for the role in the first place.

How can you say that the gift God has given women is only okay to be used on CD’s and DVD’s, etc., but God forbid if they use it in the Church as Pastors, Teachers, Preachers. We take the Word of God so often and use it to justify our beliefs or short comings, but not for what God intended it to be used for, Yes, we understand the order of God: GOD-MAN-WOMAN-FAMILY and so on. But we are in New Testament times, not saying to forget the law of the OT, but this is the soul purpose of why Jesus came to do away with what the law could not, we understand that God made man the head, but I believe God is using those that desire to be used by Him to get His message out, He will choose those “WHOSOEVER” will let them come, but in the NT God said in the last and evil days He shall pour out HIS spirit upon all flesh and they shall speak what God gives them to speak, whether in the pulpit or out of the pulpit. Do you honestly believe that we have a God that only feel that men are qualified to Preach His word? Then you don’t know my Father! When you say that women basically are only used as trophies to gain wealth and power for a church under mans leadership, I know (not believe) that God is furious with that comment, I will never let Man or Woman convince me that God can and has not called women to preach and be Pastor, and Oh by the way since we quote the Bible for our on benefit, there is no title called Co-Pastor, Reverend or Arch Bishop. God gave specific order Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers and Evangelist called the Five Fold Ministry! And if we are going to condemn WOMEN for being Pastors, then by all means what do you think God will do since MAN has removed to of the five fold ministries and has said that God has done away with them, these things will be done away with them when the return of Christ happens, and we are still here so that hasn’t happen yet. Until God tells me I am out of order, then I surely want let man hinder the Word of God that flows from my belly. I pray that God will enlighten your heart and speak a word in your life and others to bring you out of darkness!

Women are not intended to teach men or have authority over men, but that does not mean they are without giftedness in the areas of discipling and training. Women are essential instruments in God’s plan for the education of children and other women.

1Timothy 5:9-10 discusses a list of older widows kept by the early church, which was probably for the purpose of identifying those women who would commit themselves to a special position of service in the body.

1Timothy 5:9-10- A widow is to be put on the list only if she is not less than sixty
years old, having been the wife of one man, having a reputation of
good works; and if she has brought up children, if she has shown
hospitality to strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she
has assisted those in distress, and if she has devoted herself to
    every good work.

The requirements given for women to be place on the list reveal the ministries women can and should fulfill. She must have a reputation of good works, and the first good work mentioned is the rearing of children Paul says a woman could be placed on the list if she has brought up children.

In 1Timothy 2:15 Paul follows his discussion of the restrictions God has placed on women in ministry by saying:

1Timothy 2:15- But women shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith sanctity with self-restraint.

That verse and others indicate that women play a primary role in the development of children. The command to be workers at home allows women to spend the most time with children, and in most cases they are apparently much more gifted than men for this task. At the very least, the Scripture clearly states that the woman’s role in raising children is indispensable.

Exodus 20:12- Honor your mother and father.

Exodus 21:15- He who strikes his father or his mother shall be surely be put to death.

Exodus 21:17- He who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

In the eyes of God, despising and disobeying the mother is just as serious as disobeying the father. The book of Proverbs has many illustrations that admonish children to give equal respect to mothers and fathers.

Proverbs 1:8- Hear, my son, your father’s instruction and do not forsake your
    mother’s teaching;

Proverbs 6:20- My son, observe the commandment of your father, and do not
forsake the teaching of your mother.

Proverbs 30:17- The eye that mocks a father and scorns a mother, the ravens of the
    valley will pick it out.

Again and again, children are instructed to obey their mothers just as they obey their fathers. Again and again, God says He will punish children for disobedience to the mother even as He will punish disobedience to the father.

Certainly if raising children is a special ministry for women, women ought to, if possible have children. There are times when that ay be physically impossible, but when she can have children, she should have them. And when she does have them, she should bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord so they can greatly impact the church and the world for Christ. Think of the contribution so many women have made to the world throughout history by raising godly leaders. In a very real sense the adage “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world” is true. Women can make a tremendous contribution to the church and the world from the bottom up instead of from the top down.

But what about the women who do not have children, or what about the women whose children have departed from home? Can such women still have a ministry to children? Yes, because if they do not have children of their own, they should find children and help “bring them up.” They can invite the children of others into their homes. They can have fun with them and talk with them about the Savior. Some parents with several children can be very busy, and women without children can have a tremendous impact on the lives of these children, who may need more adult supervision and attention than their parents can give.
Even women without children may have a special gift for working with children. God has given that gift to them and they should use it. Women should be seeking out the little ones and leading them to Jesus. Though parents may have often exhorted and rebuked their children with little success, sometimes the same exhortation or rebuke coming from someone else carries added weight and produces results. Women may never know the extent of their influence in the lives of children until they get to heaven, but they may be assured that their influence is great.

It is so sad to see older Christian women saying things like, “I have had my children. I have brought them up, and on I’m on vacation. I don’t want to get involved with children right now. I don’t want those problems again.” But God has given them tremendous wisdom about the home and raising children through their experience. At that point in their lives they should be saying, “My ministry is just beginning!”

Titus 2:3-5- Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the was they live,
not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what
is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands
and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be
kind, and to be subject to their husband so that no one will malign the
    Word of God.

Older women should be continually teaching younger women because they have had years of experience. And young women should teach even younger women what they have learned through their searching the Scriptures and through Christian experience.

This is a key responsibility and privilege of women in the church. Since there are more women and children in the world than men, what a mission field women have! Some women complain, “I don’t have anything to do for Christ.” But the women who say that are looking for an excuse because they do not seek to serve Christ sacrificially. Women can never say that they have nothing to do for Christ until they have taught every needy child and every needy woman in the church and in their community everything they know about the Word of God. In fact, these are ministries that women can perform better than men, because there are problems among children and other women that women can deal with better than men. Women may disclose problems to other women that they would not discuss with men, and women can understand the emotional makeup and disposition of other women better than men.

    • Elder Leatha Blanks said

I still say that the Word of God said in Acts 2:17 that in the last days He shall pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, and we are in the last days, again if God can’t find a man to stand a do what GOD has commanded him to do, not what his flesh desires to do, more churches have come under fire, and have caused humilation to God because of their foul ways of handling Gods mission and vision for the church that He will use the “WHOSOEVER WILL” to do His work to get the church back into divine order for His soon return. But again I will not defend myself with no man or woman who tells me that God didn’t call me to preach or be a Pastor, so where ever God leads me I will truly follow. So let us agree to disagree and move on with God’s purpose for our lives!

  31. SoliDeoGloriaFella said

1Timothy 5:10 indicates another important ministry of women in the church when it says a widow can be put on the list “if she has shown hospitality to strangers.” The ministry of hospitality has largely been forgotten today, but it was a key ingredient in the life of the early church.

Romans 12:13- …contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

1Peter 4:9- Be hospitable to one another without complaint.

Hebrews 13:2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Although men are called to be “hospitable” 1Timothy 3:2, it is often women in the church who are the most uniquely gifted for that ministry. They have been designed to be “workers at home,” and hospitality for the purposes of edification and evangelisms a ministry that fits perfectly with their efforts in that domain.

  32. SoliDeoGloriaFella said

1Timothy 5:10 also says that a woman can be placed on the list “if she has washed the saints’ feet, and if she has assisted those in distress. At the time of Paul, women literally washed the feet of the saints, because that ministry was needed when the church gathered. To today’s church, that act represents the need for women to fulfill the role of servants by ministering to the physical needs of church members, and even the church building. Godly women can serve very effectively by assisting those in some kind of distress, whether they be single mothers and their children, shut-ins, the infirm, or those who have financial needs.

1Timothy 5:16- If any woman who is a believer has dependent widows, she must
assist them and the church must not be burdened, so that it may
assist those who are widows indeed.

So the roes of submissive learners, gifted trainers, skilled hostesses, and humble servants are some of the functions that women can fulfill in the church. No doubt any open-minded person will realize that there is more than enough to keep a godly woman busy in her service for Christ. Any open-minded person will also realize that the tasks God has assigned to women are not insignificant, but very important. In fact they are every bit as important as the tasks God has assigned to men. They are different in some respects from the tasks of men, but just because they are different doesn’t mean that they are unimportant.

In Genesis 3:1 Satan said to Eve, “Indeed, has God said ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” That was not true. God had said, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat” (Genesis 2:16-17)

Satan, however, wanted to focus Eve’s attention on what she could not do. And this is what Satan is doing with women today. He is suggesting to women that men are using them as their slaves and servants.

He encourages them to stand up and let the men know that women have every right to do everything that men may do. He wants women to concentrate on the things they have been forbidden to do and leave undone the important tasks that they can and should accomplish.

May God help Christian women not to groan or complain about what God had designed for them to do, but instead gratefully and enthusiastically perform their God-given ministries. And may God help men to discharge their responsibilities as well, because when women and men are fulfilling the roles for which we have been designed, He will receive glory.

God is telling the women all the time in his word “But I suffer a woman not to teach nor ursurp authority over the man. While on earth it is still male and female the distinctions are not erased (that’s what the feminists and the secular world wants) because women and some men rather believe this opinion, God has given them a delusional spirit to believe it – 2Thess.2:11. The reason why God allowed a certain Bishop to die was because of the thing he allowed – he allowed a woman to sit in the pulpit among the elders(he knew it was wrong)it is not done in all Israel. Men are allowing women to go against God’s word. Men are the HEAD. The head of Jesus is God, the head of the church is Jesus and the head of every MAN IS Christ and the head of every WOMAN IS MAN. I personally have a very hard time with women preachers in general, and lately, those who have wormed their way into preaching positions by way of being a self-proclaimed prophet.
Women do not have to be preachers. I really do not understand why they feel they must push for it. I have heard my fair share of women preachers and pastors, and personally I have been bored. There are even women teachers that I have a hard time listening to, but I have enjoyed their study series. About seven years ago, Beth Moore was really coming up as someone who “made you do your homework”, and to move through her studies, you really must spend time in the word of God. I enjoyed that. This church that we started attending was having a study on Wed. nights using her materials and I thought, cool! They were going to have her on video, but ten minutes into the video, I actually left. Call it personal preference, but I had a hard time listening to her voice and watching her facial expressions. So I completed my study at home and didn’t go back on Wed. nights. I guess for me, every woman preacher that I have seen, has either tried to be like a man in presentation, or just had a voice that I could not stomach. I know I am probably being really stupid right now, but I am being honest. The voices are either too shrilly, too masculine, too piercing or too blahh. There were some that I came across that were genuine, (teachers I mean) and I enjoyed ever second of their teaching.
I have forced myself to listen to Bynum, Paula White, Joyce Myers, Marilyn Hickey and her daughter and even pink bunny Jan Crouch. There was a sermon that Paula gave about Debora, one of the judges in Israel. I have to say it was the only sermon of Paula’s I liked. But on the whole, I personally, even beyond what the scriptures say about women preachers, have a hard time sitting through a sermon.
My husband and I were visiting a church in the East Stroudsburg, PA. called Labor of Love, and we were just sickened by this woman pastor. She was screaming and carrying on. This was a “pentacostal” church, (voodoo was more like it) and we wanted to leave, but chose to stay through the whole thing, because she was on such a rant about the devil doing this and the devil doing that, that my husband and I just sat there instead. To get up and leave mid sermon, whould have probably sent her crazy thinking that we were demon possessed, so we stayed so she wouldn’t get the satisfaction of over spiritualizing why we left.
She didn’t get a good report card from us, I can tell you that.

    Greetings Heathland,

When we are full of the Spirit, walking in His Divine nature, transformed into His image and are complelled by His Love, which is not of this world, have learned to obey Him moment to moment, we die, and as if from the very Throneroom, we speak on His behalf. He now allows us to feel what He feels with His heart, which has the right balance between mercy and judgement, love and rebuke. We are loving our enemies as did He, which is the ultimate power and foundation for all that we do, ever so mindful of His mercy toward us and responsibility for speaking as His ambassador – Holy is our God and a consuming fire. We must as yielded vessels, allow the Spirit of God to speak through us. The Lord has given me words for the Body of Christ. One time I said “Lord am I worthy to give this word” checking out my own life, I didn’t want to be like the priest who goes into the holy of holies, and because not living this word, “die” and someone have to pull me out with a rope. I asked someone to pray for me. I know what its like to speak hard words and get rejected, but I also know that I must continue to commune with the Father and even ask others around me to check my heart. Moses, who humbly interceded for the people, was judged “harshly” when he struck the rock in anger. The accountability at this level is very important and a very narrow walk!
o As the Spirit of God came upon Jeremiah, he spoke. He wept for Israel.
o Isaiah saw the Glory of the Lord and could not stand in His Holy Presence.
o Paul loved the people so much, he’d give his own life!

The process of purification for those who are called to speak for Him, especially when speaking correction to His own leaders, requires one who has walked a death walk. If we are not careful, we can think we’re doing the will of God, and have actually allowed ourselves to be instruments of the enemy. We must be humble enough to continue to get on the altar, receive Godly counsel and correction.

    In His Love,

There is nothing wrong with a woman being attractive. And no where in scripture does God require men or women to be unattractive to minister.
Every firt lady that looks good is not evil.
Your assertation that if you look good, you must be a con artist is ridiculous.
Remember the Bible says man looks on the appearance, but God looks on the heart.

  40. Job said

Welcome to the discussion, but I must mention that you are shadowboxing at windmills and erecting straw men here. At no point did I say that attractive people cannot minister. I only stated that Paula White clearly brazenly markets her appearance and body and sexuality in general, from her face being all over her website and products to the low cut skin tight outfits that she wears even in the pulpit to her marketing tie in with Tyra Banks, who now that she has gotten too old to peddle her own flesh in the modeling industry is exploiting the bodies of other women (America’s Top Model) and has a voyeuristic “talk show” where she parades an endless line of exhibitionists willing to share details of their bedroom activities for just a little bit of attention. And that speaks nothing of accepting a large donation from an atheist strip club owner and aiding his run for political office (so that he could oppose Christians that were trying to oppose the sinful effects that his strip clubs were having on the community).

God looks at the heart to see if it is a heart that loves God. How do we love God? By keeping His commandments, or at least desiring to, as Jesus Christ explicitly stated in John 14:21. White willfully profanely breaks the commandments of God by

    1. dressing immodestly (1 Timothy 2:9)
    2. preaching the false prosperity doctrine (1 Timothy 6)
    3. staying in the pulpit after being twice divorced (1 Timothy 3)
    4. being a female head pastor (1 Timothy 2)
    5. defrauding people in business dealings (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1)
    6. exploiting the poor and widows (Proverbs 22:22)
    7. having religious dealings with apostates and heretics (Titus 3)

Now those are just 7 examples that Paula White violates routinely, blatantly, openly, and incontrovertibly. The woman consistently acts as if the Bible is not binding on her ministry or her life, and her fans are either ignorant of the scriptures (a state that White keeps them in so that she can continue to take money from them) or have no interest or desire in their meaning and application in their own lives or their pastor’s.

Unless Paula White changes her wicked ways, she will be cast into the lake of fire, and not only that but those that follow her, defend her, refuse to condemn her to warn others, etc. will share in her punishment (Revelation 18:4). Read Revelation chapters 2 and 3. Pay special attention to the Jezebel church, the synagogue of Satan, the Balaam church, and the Laodicea church. All of those – and more – do not apply to Paula and Randy White and everyone else in their little circle of false teacher exploiters.

I agree with your entire post. However the part of your previous post I am addressing is when you hint at the fact that alot of pastors marry attractive women and then pimp them to attract other men. That’s an outlandish statement to make if there is no SOLID evidence to back that up. Some good looking men and women TRULY have a call to minister on their life and their looks that God gave should not disqualify them.
Jamal Bryant had a BEAUTIFUL wife by anyone’s standard and never once did I see her in the forefront of anything…(I am not a Jamal fan, so please spare me the obvious wrong doing of Jamal, before you write them, I already concur.) Bishop T.D. Jakes and Bishop Eddie Long are also Pastors who are married to relatively attractive women who do not co-pastor and stay in the background for the most part.
I think it is awesome if husband and wife can minister together (this is Biblical by the way.) And if they both are attractive, so be it! Now, I believe, as scripture reveals that the man should be the head and the wife is to submit.
But, to paint a broad picture that ALL attractive women ministers are being pimped by their husbands is extreme.

  42. Charles D. said

Wo! If Jakes have a relatively lovely wife, then, she’s not the one he left West Virginia with. Has he married twice?

I agree. Serita is not physically beautiful to me. But, I included the word relatively because her looks are relative to Jakes. She’s not beneath him or above him.
But, Jamal, WOW! He married WAY out of his league, in my opinion.

  45. Charles D. said

Okay, you’ve given me carte balanche; feauture this: Jakes wore what was referred to in the 1960’s as a “process” complete with “dew” rag, and I do mean DEW. I kid you not, that’s what he arrived in Texas wearing. There was a warrant for his arrest and he definitely wasn’t going back to WV to get anything more.

He was not called a pastor in WV, in fact, he didn’t have a church or following, asides from the guys at the local cafe. She was the only person in their town that gave him the time of day.

  46. Carissa said

Well, we all have a background. So, I won’t disqualify Jakes because of where he came from. I am glad he has risen out of poverty. But, I would like to see a ministry more Jesus centered than Jakes centered. I go back and forth about whose really at fault for his bigger than Jesus persona, he or his followers. Some people would make a God out of any celebrity and that celebrity can’t be blamed for the need of some people to have a flesh God. But, some celebs endorse that type of celebritydom.

  54. Prosperity – The Bible says the false teachers are the ones that would have the big followings.

    Luke 6:26 (King James Version)

26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Paula is all over the place and a best selling author too.

Paula White is not saved and here is the proof.

  56. We ought not judge our brothers and sisters because Christ will do that and right quickly when He returns on the second coming. Being a female preacher of the gospel myself, and told a beautiful one to look upon, I do not adhere to the traditional rules of dress code. The fact is regardless of how the tree looks, Christ is concerned about the fruit it produces. Many have preached the gospel with their pious style of dress and in the dark lived hypocritically.

Yes, Paul in 2nd Corinthians 2:14-17 talked about peddlers of the gospel. People who twist and turn the gospel for their own personal gain. But, he also talked about being apart of the triumph and carrying the fragrant aroma of Christ gained only by becoming a captive of the Gospel.

We need to focus less on how people look and more on what they are saying both in word and deed. Prime example, my close friend preached her trial sermon yesterday. She is a mother of four and is constantly critized for dressing poorly and leaving her hair unkept. I think of her as a female John the Baptist. But, I declare she rocked the house with her sermon “The Same God,Yesterday, Today and Forevermore”.

She has often been shunned and put down for her appearance while I am often praised and accepted for mine. But, we have a bond through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and a knowledge of what’s important.

Let’s stop playing church and be the church. One of Love and Understanding. God made us wonderful and unique. So, we don’t all need to wear buns in our hair, and skirts to our ankles. The truth is people will judge you regardless of how you look. And everything pretty isn’t trying to manipulate. And everything plain isn’t necessary holy. What we need to do is walk after spiritual things and allow the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit to guide our hearts and minds.

    Min. Shelby:

“We ought not judge our brothers and sisters because Christ will do that and right quickly when He returns on the second coming.”

That is not what the Bible says.

“Being a female preacher of the gospel myself, and told a beautiful one to look upon, I do not adhere to the traditional rules of dress code.”

They are not traditional rules, they are what the Bible commands concerning modesty.

“We need to focus less on how people look and more on what they are saying both in word and deed.”

Yes, and your words and deeds are disobeying the Bible by working as a pastor despite the Bible saying that you should not, and wearing whatever you choose when the Bible says that you should be modest, and lying on scripture by saying that we ought not to hold one another accountable for right beliefs and right living. If people A) follow your personal example of disobedience and B) follow your doctrines that we are not to instruct one another concerning righteousness, when Jesus Christ comes back these folks are not going to know right from wrong, they are not going to know that in order to be accepted as sheep instead of goats they will have to keep Jesus Christ’s commandments, and their blood will be laid on your head.

“Let’s stop playing church and be the church.”

How are we going to stop playing the church and be the church except by being obedient to Jesus Christ?

“What we need to do is walk after spiritual things and allow the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit to guide our hearts and minds.”

The Holy Spirit inspired the Bible. Why is the Holy Spirit going to regenerate you if you disobey everything that He says? If you are rejecting the Bible that He is inspired, how is He guiding you heart and mind? And you say walk after spiritual things, what is spiritual except to obey the Will of the Son so that the Father will be glorified? How can a rebellious disobedient person be spiritual?

You are ignoring that being a Christian starts and ends with obedience and without obedience everything else is in vain. Why should Jesus Christ allow a disobedient rebellious person into heaven? Give me one good reason. Or better yet, give me a thousand reasons, and I will show you using scripture where you are wrong a thousand times. Jude 4: “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”

  58. My hope is in Christ said

Something about what was said about Mary Mary concerns me. The author of this article recognises that the Word of God does not permit women to teach and have authority over men. That they are not permitted to be Pastors. Thank God, Amen. However saying that they are obeying God by ministering only on CDs, DVDs, and in concerts concerns me in light of 2peter 1-3.

They may not be pastoring a church, but they are making merchandise/profit of the back of the gospel. Is this a good thing? They have also steadily become more carnal in their approach to their music or “ministry”. Increasingly they are forming alliances and frienship with worldly, secular personalities to boost/promote themselves and brand. How is this any less manipulative and calculating as the ploys of the paula whites, joyce meyers and bynums.
