VeggieTales Versus Rob Bell: Not That Much Difference!

Posted by Job on March 24, 2011

First, let me say that I haven’t read Rob Bell’s book and I do not plan to ever to. The reason is that my bookshelf is so stacked with great items from legitimate Christian writers that it will take me years to go through them all, and I am yet in the process of trying to acquire more (I want a good commentary on the book of Daniel and on the gospel of Luke; I am accepting recommendations towards that end). So I don’t have the time – or the inclination – to read prattle from a known false teacher. Further, the doctrines that Bell are spreading are not new, but instead are the same abominable heresies that the church has been contending against since nearly the beginning, and then just as now are  the result of reading humanistic and pagan ideas into the Bible text. So, if you want a review of Bell’s “Love Wins”, I suggest Albert Mohler, Ken Silva (from whom I first learned of Bell and the movement that he represents), Phil Johnson, Tim Challies, The Gospel Coalition, and a host of Christian thinkers far more capable of that sort of thing than I. Meanwhile, I will continue to spend my free time reading books that actually contain truth from the likes of Charles Spurgeon, John Bunyan, George Whitefield and John Eadie.

Still, it is curious to note a curiosity or two. First, the postmodern hermeneutics employed by Bell, Brian McLaren, and similar are by no means new. Quite the contrary, it is reminiscent of allegorical and other techniques that have used to either ignore or alter the meaning of “inconvenient” Bible texts for hundreds of years. I won’t go into the various doctrines that these methods have been used to support or reject, but it goes without saying that using his interpretative method when it suits your own purposes makes it a lot harder to stand in the face of a blasphemer that is using it for his.

Second, it is even more difficult to hold figures like C.S. Lewis in high esteem (and for that matter Billy Graham) when Lewis, Graham, and many other giants of evangelical Christianity hold the same basic views as does Bell! Any number of evangelical Christian leaders encourage us to run out and take our children to see the “Narnia” movies because “it is oh so important to support Christian efforts in Hollywood and the mainstream culture.” As for Billy Graham, well, their “Gideon: The Tuba Warrior” episode saw fit to depict Graham (of all the preachers in history) as one raised up by God despite Graham’s publicly stating beliefs similar to those of Bell.

Speaking of VeggieTales, I recall reading the line “The evangelical “Veggie Tales” cartoons—animated Bible stories featuring talking cucumbers and tomatoes—probably shape more children in their view of scripture than any … catechism does” in the Wall Street Journal. (Note: here is a good catechism for children.) They are not alone. Quite the contrary, you are more likely to encounter an actual Biblical theme in VeggieTales than you will in any “Christian” children’s programming in your local Christian video store, or on Christian broadcasting. But evangelical and many fundamentalist parents buy things like Veggie Tales, The Horned Avenger, On The Farm, Hermie The Caterpillar, Adventures In Odyssey etc. despite the clear fact that A) most of them offer a “Christless” Christianity focused more on ethics, morals, virtues, so-called family values, than the gospel. Phil Vischer specifically stated that this is done to increase sales and make more money from Christians, and has the motto “the more you preach, the fewer you reach.” So, all of that Jesus Christ talk will mean not selling videos because Christians won’t buy it! And they know of what they speak … consider that Good Times Entertainment, whose products were often about Jesus Christ (consider the Bible series featuring Charlton Heston), went bankrupt in 2005. An example of what leaving Jesus Christ out results in? Their “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything” movie allegorically depicting Satan as the brother of Jesus Christ. Another example? Teaching works-righteousness in “Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Noah’s Umbrella“, when the lead female character tells the lead male character (who in true feminist fashion – yes feminism has made real inroads in evangelical Christianity – in an incompetent idiot) that “Do you know what those who do the right thing are called? Righteous.” Actually, the New Testament says that righteousness comes by being imputed through Jesus Christ, and that it is impossible to be considered righteous apart from Jesus Christ. So the need to omit Jesus Christ in order to sell more DVDs results in teaching the exact opposite of what Jesus Christ taught and denying the reason for Jesus Christ’s ministry and work! As no one raised a peep about VeggieTales’ essentially endorsing Mormonism, Islam, Hinduism, modern Judaism, and every other false works-based religion, how can we be surprised when Rob Bell has such a huge audience? Bell is only reaping the fruit that that was planted and watered by others in fields that were plowed by others.

Now granted, VeggieTales does get around to mentioning Jesus Christ and even His atonement occasionally (see their Easter episodes, though typical of modern Christianity, they give Christmas much more attention than Easter, including promoting the very destructive Santa Claus works religion in two of them … telling kids that there’s no Santa Claus means not selling any DVDs though!), they and the other “Christian” entertainment rarely – if ever – mentions the other side. They will tell you “accept Jesus Christ and go to heaven.” They will not say “if you do not, you will go to hell.” Indeed, even mentions of hell are rare, and this is the case in Christian children’s entertainment, contemporary Christian and gospel music, Christian movies, Christian books, and most Christian evangelism and preaching. So, since we are in a Christian culture that leaves out this important detail, what is the basis, the justification, for getting angry when Rob Bell comes in and fills in the blanks for us?

A lot of Christians are angry at Bell for not believing orthodoxy, but the real problem is that those who believe orthodoxy will not preach orthodoxy.  Challies mentions a new book that discusses “issues pertinent to the church today” which a lot of popular contemporary writers contributed to. According to Challies, there is no chapter on hell, and there are only two references to it in the index! That is no surprise. Clark Pinnock, the Rob Bell of his day, related that when a major Christian publishing company solicited prominent evangelicals to represent the traditional, Protestant view in Four Views On Hell (which is a theological debate in published form) they found no one wanting to take the job! (Ultimately, dispensational pastor and theologian John Walvoord took the challenge.) Pinnock – and again this is nearly 20 years ago – defended his position at the time, annihilationism (this was before Pinnock discarded any remaining pretense of adhering to inerrancy and adopted views similar to Bell’s) by stating that due to the increasing unwillingness of evangelicals to preach about and defend the doctrine of hell, the result would be a widespread embrace of universalism. (Pinnock was not well versed on pluralism at the time, but after learning more about purgatory from the Roman Catholic contributor to the project, Zachary Hayes, he ultimately adopted it as his own position.)

So, Veggie Tales and its effects on children is merely symbolic for the larger Christian scene itself, whether an unwillingness to oft preach and share the whole gospel because it is not acceptable in modern humanist culture – we Christians have to keep our place in the mainstream! – or an unwillingness to confront, condemn and separate from those who preach false doctrines. Quite the contrary, Christianity Today, long the evangelical standard, published a missive aimed at Christians appropriately denouncing Bell, claiming among other things that they lacked the necessary qualifications and standing to do so, and that their actions reflected a lack of various Christian virtues. The writer calls (indirectly but very intentionally) those attacking Bell “meain-spirited”, directly accuses them of “lacking self-restraint”, and pines for the days when such debates were the exclusive domains of people like Plato and “Saint” Thomas Aquinas – in addition to Moses and Augustine – “who gained respect through a lifetime of scholarship.”

Well the respect of the world earned by “Saint” Aquinas for advancing popery and of the pagan Plato is not what we should be after in the first place. Instead, we should seek the grace given through Jesus Christ. That so many of us want the respect of those in whom the truth is not present is precisely why this great vacuum on teachings about hell exists. The problem is not that Rob Bell stepped up to fill it, for there have always been and will always be until Jesus Christ returns false teachers. No, the problem is the carnality caused by the love of this present world in the church that allows this void to exist to begin with.

The result of this void caused by the worldliness is that as many as 59% of evangelical Christians believe that salvation can be obtained outside of Jesus Christ. Not surprisingly, 59% of evangelicals also have “dealing with moral breakdown” as a forefront issue; apparently the great commission can wait for another day. Again, and this should surprise who? Did you think that it was secular humanists being raised on VeggieTales, Hermie The Caterpillar, Focus On The Family etc. and buying them for their kids? Or that atheists are the ones buying Christian and gospel music that does a great job of emulating secular music (or maybe not) but oft neglects the gospel? That theological liberals are the ones heading to Christian bookstores and loading up on “devotionals” that are increasingly just Christianized pop psychology and motivational writings?

The issue is not Rob Bell. The issue is the church and its dereliction of its duty while chasing after worldly pleasures. And let Revelation 2 and 3 remind you: the church is where judgment begins. To more that is given, more is required, and the parables of Jesus Christ tell us that to those to whom more is given, more is required, and further if we are not faithful with what we have been given, then what we have will be taken from us and given to those who have been faithful. We Christians have been given the gospel, and we must avoid allowing the love of this world to prevent us from proclaiming it in its entirety.

In closing, it must be said that if you are a not a Christian, do not take comfort in the lies of the pluralists and others who claim that there is salvation outside of Jesus Christ. Yes, the Bible does declare that love wins, but it will be love of holiness, justice, righteousness, and the only way to have those attributes is by imputation through identification with One who has those attributes, which is Jesus Christ. Unless you live in Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ lives in you, there is no life and victory, but only eternal torment. So, I urge you to repent of your sins and join with Jesus Christ immediately.

Is The Rider On The White Horse Of Revelation 6:2 Christ Or Anti-Christ?

Posted by Job on March 9, 2011

Revelation 6:1-2 reads “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.”

The predominant view in modern western fundamentalist and evangelical Christianity is that the rider of the white horse is the anti-Christ. This was my view until very recently, when I read the John Bunyan allegory “Holy War“, which altered, or should I say enhanced, my view of Jesus Christ (more on that later), just as did reading “Pilgrim’s Progress Part 1” changed my view of Christian living and Part II changed my view of the pastorate and of the church.

Allow me to say that this article provides a good reason why the rider on the white horse cannot be the anti-Christ, which is that the four horsemen are released this eschatological figure is not released until the fifth trumpet. The trumpets do not occur until the seventh seal, and the white horse is released by the first seal. So, the white horse comes at or near the beginning of the events of Revelation (presuming a linear timeline with a literal interpretation) while the anti-Christ comes well into those events. Some interpretations deal with this by claiming that the reference in Revelation 6:2 is the anti-Christ’s laying the groundwork, placing everything in order, for his full unveiling to the earth that is described later.

Well, further arguments against the rider being the anti-Christ are given in this article. It deals with how those who propose that the rider is the anti-Christ deal with the fact that white is always used to represent Godly virtue by making the statement that the anti-Christ comes in this manner to deceive people into thinking that he is Jesus Christ. However, this interpretation requires starting with the idea that the rider on the white horse is the anti-Christ, and then making everything else fit, something often called thesis-driven analysis and also called eisegesis. If your starting point was neutral concerning the identity of this character, then his being on a white horse would immediately disqualify your  associating him with the anti-Christ. But if your starting point was his being the anti-Christ, that is when you have to contrive an explanation for the horse being white, one that seems to violate all rules and standards for hermeneutics used for other passages. The question is: “Why is this done?”

It goes back to one’s view of Jesus Christ. The rider of the white horse is given a bow and he went forth to conquer, and conquer he did! Modern, humanistic, enlightenment thinking does not permit viewing Jesus Christ as the Conqueror. That is, at least not until the last day when Jesus Christ comes to judge the nations for their wickedness. That is the one time that the modern church with its man-centered mindset allows Jesus Christ, who as God is the Creator, Owner and Sustainer of the Universe, to be viewed as a conquering ruler. (And for those who believe in the rapture, this happens when the church is already off the scene, and is spared having to deal with Jesus Christ in this role.) In the modern mindset, Jesus Christ can be viewed as the sacrificial lamb, advisor, “co-pilot”, best friend, psychiatrist/psychologist, enabler, helper, moneychanger (prosperity doctrine), mystic/shaman, errand boy, and even romantic lover, but NOT as a conquerer. This stark, authoritarian, militaristic view runs counter to the modernistic Jeffersonian view that exalts such ideas as civil rights, human rights, democracy etc. above all, and needs a Jesus Christ that will bow and be conformed to it. Thus, Jesus Christ as conquerer cannot exist in the mind of the modernist/postmodernist Christian except for a single day when He is forced to execute that role with respect to the wicked. With the exception of that day, Jesus Christ remains in a construct that the modern mind finds acceptable. And according to that construct, where conquest to set up authoritarian rule is undemocratic is evil, this HAS to be the anti-Christ!

It cannot be Jesus Christ according to this mindset, because this mindset makes Jesus Christ a democrat. This Jesus Christ does not conquer. No, this Jesus Christ is standing outside the human heart like a lovesick teenage loverboy knocking on the door waiting, longing, begging for His sweetheart to come in. And it is only when the person that Jesus Christ’s target makes the free will decision to open the door to his or her heart and invite Jesus Christ in that salvation occurs.

For this to happen any other way, uninvited, unasked, and without consent, is tyranny. For Jesus Christ is not a sovereign king who rules by way of His undisputed dominion over the creation that is the work of His own hands for Him to do as He pleases. No, that is tyranny. Such rule is illegitimate, based on the threat of force rather than the consent of the governed! A true, enlightened philosopher king governs not by power or divine right, but by mutual consent! So, the one who stands at the door and knocks and will not come in without the consent of the “pilot” (for Jesus Christ is merely the co-pilot, not the actual pilot who is running the show and is the true master of eternal destiny, which is man’s free will) is Jesus Christ, the genuine article. The conquerer who does not ask permission, who does not gladly (though under submission) come when asked and does not meekly leave when rejected? Now that has to be the anti-Christ! So says the modern Christian mindset.

Thankfully, John Bunyan did not live in modern Enlightenment times! Therefore, Bunyan presents a different Jesus Christ, one that is actually present on the pages of the Bible before all the modern humanist filters and constructs are placed on it. Bunyan’s rather rough allegory presents a kingdom ruled by Shaddai (God the Father), whose most prominent and prized possession is the city Mansoul, which was built by the King Himself. While the modern mindset reared on democracy would revile the idea that a city is the possession of any king, A) this was in fact the custom of monarchs in times past – the kingdom and all in it were their possessions, and in the east the subjects of the “lord-kings” were considered slaves to the lord-king, and remember the Bible is an oriental book, not a western book and B) the Bible was fully written in the mindset of this custom. Mansoul rebelled against King Shaddai due to the provocation and trickery of Diabolus (Satan) and made Satan its king instead, under the false pretense that they could exchange status as slaves under King Shaddai’s rule to free men under his rule. Of course, Diabolus immediately made the residents of Mansoul his slaves, but so thoroughly corrupted and tricked them that they mistook the slavery of Diabolus and sin for liberation. Their delusion was so strong that when King Shaddai sent His captains (difficult to tell in the allegory, my guess is that they are angels) to liberate Mansoul from Diabolus, they resisted with all their might. The story was explicit: when Mansoul was given a multitude of opportunities to make a free will choice for King Shaddai, they rejected King Shaddai each time due to the depths of their depravity.

So, King Shaddai sent His Son, Prince Emmanuel, to recapture Mansoul. In this allegory, Emmanuel did not conquer Mansoul by standing at the door knocking and being invited in. Quite the contrary, He came with an army of soldiers and overcame the recalcitrant Mansoul, who resisted Him with all the force that it could muster – as it was still dedicated and devoted to Diabolus and its own sinful passions – with mighty force. Make no mistake, in this allegory, “and he went forth conquering, and to conquer” Mansoul! After the conquering of Mansoul was done, Prince Emmanuel had the entire town confess that He took the town for Himself as His prize by force; that when the town had the chance – indeed several chances – to yield itself up to the government of the Prince and His Father by choice, they refused each time. So, Mansoul chose the rule of Diabolus, and Prince Emmanuel gained the rule of Mansoul only by overtaking Diabolus, binding him, driving him out, and “spoiling the goods of the strongman” by declaring and setting up His own rule and domain – and through it re-establishing the same of King Shaddai – by force. Mansoul had no say in the matter, because Mansoul, by decree, election and will of God the Father its Owner and Creator – had declared it to be so. Mansoul did not choose Prince Emmanuel, but Emmanuel chose Mansoul (John 15:16).

Now, Jesus Christ as He is commonly depicted in most modern gospel music is not the rider on the white horse. But Jesus Christ as depicted in Holy War and in the Bible may well be. If nothing else, it is something to consider. Another thing to consider: why would the anti-Christ have to go about conquering the world to begin with? According to the words of Jesus Christ, Satan is already the prince of this world (John 14:30)! 2 Corinthians 4:4 declares Satan to be the god of this world, Ephesians 2:2 declares him to be the prince of the powers of the air. So, the anti-Christ does not need to conquer the world. All he needs is to have Satan’s authority transferred to him. Revelation 13:2 says exactly that: “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” Further, Revelation 17 says that the rulers of the earth GIVE their power to the beast, NOT that he conquers them and takes it from them by force.

This may seem like idle speculation, or an excessive emphasis on “last things” when other issues concerning orthodoxy and orthopraxy are more pressing: “minoring in the majors.” However, one’s view of last things often casts a shadow on one’s belief. Many theological liberals and “moderates” de-emphasize predictive prophecy because of an anti-supernatural bias. Others use apocalyptic texts to promote the political and social causes that are near and dear to them. And many Christians are attracted to the rapture doctrines because of their desire not to suffer persecution and rejection by the world as Christ suffered the same.

In a similar fashion, the idea that the anti-Christ is the conquerer on the white horse reveals the mindset of a great many Christian theologians, preachers, and laymen concerning the doctrine of original sin. So many Christians SAY that they believe in original sin, or even total depravity, but by adhering to such interpretations as this, it really does imply otherwise. If original sin is true, if total depravity is true, then why is it that Jesus Christ comes only by willing invitation, and the anti-Christ only by force? Is that not backwards? If the anti-Christ, the beast is “the man of sin”, then the fallen, wicked world, if it is not his already, will freely, gladly accept him as one of their own, a kindred spirit! Again, why would a sinful world oppose and resist a man of sin? Why would they not accept him and instead need to be conquered by him? Only if there is some inherent virtue, inherent goodness in him that would cause him to resist the evil rather than accept it.

The idea that the anti-Christ would have to conquer is based on the notion that man is basically good; that the nations are basically good. And is that not what so many seem to adhere to because of their political, cultural and social beliefs? That the nations – especially the pro-western capitalist democracies – are good, and only the exceptions – the anti-democratic, anti-western, authoritarian regimes – are bad.

Isn’t it curious how most of the theories about where the anti-Christ will come is from the “bad” nations? First it was from the “bad” communist regimes. Then it was from the “bad” secular humanist socialist United Nations or European Union. Now speculation centers on the “bad” Islamic regimes. The idea that the anti-Christ could come from – gasp! – America, the shining city on a hill, the nation founded on Christianity and is a beacon of freedom and goodness? Well, MAYBE, but only if he is not really one of us like Obama!

Again, it is based on the idea that there is some inherent virtue in man, and some inherent virtue in what man builds. It is based on a rejection of original sin, a rejection of total depravity. Even the very idea that Satan takes over the earth and installs the anti-Christ only when the church departs after the rapture is based on the notion that Satan is not the god of this world at present! Ironically, people who adhere to this belief are de facto amillennalists believing that rather than being the god of this world in this present age, Satan is currently bound by the church’s presence.

So many Christians who profess to be evangelical or fundamentalist and profess a belief in original sin based on the actions of Adam only apply that doctrine to soteriology. They only apply mankind’s fallen nature to the individual human soul! But when it comes time to apply it to a larger scale, they shrink back! Why? Because of their love of this present world and the things in it! To those people, James 4:4’s “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God” applies to liking MTV and the New York Times editorial page and not the entire fallen worldly system! The parts of the world they like, they consider it good, moral, even Christian. It is only the part that they are alienated from, usually because of political or cultural considerations, that they consider to be “worldly.”

But go back to the text and view it in context. Yes, Revelation concerns the last days. But the letter to the Hebrews – and elsewhere in the New Testament – declares that the last days began after the work of Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ was the fulfillment of God’s plan and the high point of the history of creation. So, the last days – the time period that Revelation concerns itself with – is not merely the last seven years, the “great tribulation.” Instead, it concerns itself with the entire endtimes, which is now, and has been since Pentecost. That is why the letters to the churches are the first part of the Revelation. They are not introductory material to set the stage for the eschatology. Instead, they are part and parcel of the eschatology!

In that context, note that the white horse and its rider come first. It is the first seal! So, after the heavenly visions in Revelation 4-5, the white horse and its rider are the first thing that we encounter when the events shift back earthward in Revelation 6. So, why not strongly associate the white horse and rider with Jesus Christ speaking to and walking amongst the churches in Revelation 2-3? Were the material in Revelation to be arranged topically (i.e. with the things happening in heaven all together and the things happening on earth all together), that is exactly how it would appear … Revelation 6:1-2 would immediately follow the challenge to the Laodicean church!

So then, why not consider the possibility that the rider on the white horse given the bow and the crown and goes about conquering (and as this article states he does not obtain or use these things illegitimately in a manner that is against God’s will … such ideas are missing from the text) is going about to foreign lands conquering souls of sinners for God the Father? Did not Jesus Christ say in the Olivet discourse (i.e. Matthew 24:14) that the end will not come until His gospel is preached in all the world for a witness to all nations? Well, in Revelation 6, though it is certainly the last days, the end is not yet come! So, me must consider that the rider on the white horse is none other than Prince Emmanuel enlarging the domain of King Shaddai through the conquest of souls in every tribe and nation that are hardened with the total depravity of original sin.

Granted, this article does state that the rider is the Holy Spirit, not Jesus Christ. I disagree, but for my purposes the distinction is not a great one, as Jesus Christ sent the Holy Spirit in His Name to complete His Work through the church which is Jesus Christ’s Body, and the Holy Spirit is the One who performs regeneration. Instead, the main point is to consider the strong possibility that man-centered, humanistic thinking is the reason why the rider on the white horse was ever called the anti-Christ to begin with, especially when one has to be very inconsistent in one’s interpretation of Revelation and the Bible in general to arrive at that viewpoint.

Of course, the main point is that Jesus Christ is returning to judge the world and all its people for their wickedness. The only way to escape this judgment that is certainly to come at a time in the future that has been predetermined by God the Father is to be saved through Jesus Christ. If you have not been, I urge and entreat you that you would be so; that you too would be a conquest of Jesus Christ as was I.

Jeremiah Wright’s $1.6 Million Dollar Home In The White Suburbs

Posted by Job on April 7, 2008

The fellow is just another false preacher fleecing the flock, no different from the TBN minstrels. See link below:

This is the home that Trinity built

Trinity United Church of Christ is building a million-dollar home along a Tinley Park golf course on land that was owned by its longtime pastor, Rev. A. Jeremiah Wright Jr., records show. The 10,340-square-foot home, apparently planned for Wright’s retirement, sits on land purchased by the pastor in 2004 for $345,000. In September 2006, the church applied for a building permit, and in December 2006 he sold the land to his church, which took out a $1.6 million mortgage on the property.

The church received a permit in April 2007 for the brick-and-stone structure, set on Odyssey Country Club.
Trinity officials declined to comment. The church’s national office said it is “customary and appropriate in many Christian denominations, including the United Church of Christ . . . to offer housing provisions for retiring clergy” after years of service.

Rev. J. Bennett Guess, a spokesman in Cleveland, said: “Each local UCC congregation is free to honor a retiring pastor in ways it feels most appropriate.” Rev. Dwight Hopkins, a professor at the University of Chicago Divinity School, said African-American congregations often purchase a parsonage for clergy. In some traditions, ministers own the home. In others, the church retains ownership.

In recent weeks, Wright has been a central figure in the Democratic presidential race as U.S. Sen. Barack Obama—who has described Wright as a spiritual mentor and confidant—has sought to distance himself from racial and political statements made by the pastor.

Tribune reporter Manya A. Brachear contributed to this report.

mwalberg@tribune.com

So … is this the “black value system” and “rejection of middle – classedness” that Jeremiah Wright espouses from the pulpit? Again, I don’t use the Melvin Jones terminology here, but if I did, Wright would get it. The Three Step Salvation Plan

The More Perfect Union Of Barack HUSSEIN Obama (And Hillary Clinton And John McCain …)

From Pastor Bill Keller (bkeller@liveprayer.com):

For Believers, the important FACT to never forget is that the “more perfect union” Obama spoke of yesterday,  would be a union where people who choose to commit deviant sexual acts with the same sex are given special rights, while those who have no voice, innocent babies, are legally slaughtered.

be a revival in this nation this year. Well, before we see a true spiritual
revival that will bring millions to faith in Christ and help lead this
nation back to God and Biblical values, there is going to be a “faux
revival” led by the latest preacher of false hope, B. Hussein Obama. Obama
is running for the Democratic Party’s nomination to try and become the next
President of the United States. He is preaching a gospel of change and
hope. Thousands are flocking to his campaign rallies and becoming
emotionally charged as this “political evangelist” preaches about hope and
change. The problem is he is a false prophet and no true follower of Christ
can follow or support this “false messiah of hope and change!”

Very troubling to me has been watching the “revival-like” atmosphere
surrounding B. Hussein Obama’s campaign for the Presidency. Like all false
prophets, it is a false gospel with lots of smoke and mirrors. I think
people would be troubled to know that the flowery rhetoric flowing from
Obama isn’t coming from his heart, but from a 26-year-old white man named
Jon Favreau. Favreau is the author of those flowery and dynamic hope and
change messages you hear, not B. Hussein Obama. Obama has even had some
input from legendary JFK speechwriter Ted Sorensen who is now 79.

Want another interesting fact about B. Hussein Obama. As someone who has
done live TV every night for 5 yrs, if you watch Obama, he only gives those
stirring hope and change speeches when he has a teleprompter so he can READ
HIS LINES! This man is a complete fraud! When he is without a
teleprompter, he resorts back to his typical stump speech on the issues.
This “false messiah” of hope so many are clinging to, isn’t even the author
of his message of false hope and is incapable of delivering those passionate
speeches without a teleprompter!

Before I get any further into this Devotional today, sadly I have to stop
and address something I have already been accused of just by announcing I
would be dealing with Obama today. Anyone who has ready my Devotionals
knows that I am not in any way shape or form a racist. You need to go my
Devotional archives on the Liveprayer.com website and search for the
Devotionals I have written on racism. The fact is, half of the Board of my
Ministry are African-American men. Of the 2.4 million subscribers to the
Daily Devotional, there are Whites, Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, people of
every race in all parts of the world.

In the first 3 years of my ministry when I preached in over 500 churches
around the country, I mainly started out preaching in black churches in
Chicago where I was based, through doors opened by the men on my Board. One
of my dearest friends is the legendary civil rights leader Dr. Clay Evans of
Fellowship Baptist Church in Chicago. Dr. Evans has always referred to me
as his “white son.” He honored me by letting me preach his broadcast
service from the “Ship” as it is known on several occasions, one of the only
white preachers to have done so.

What I am sharing about Obama today has NOTHING to do with the color of his
skin. It has everything to do with his stand on the spiritual issues of our
day and the fact he takes stands in complete opposition to the Bible and
God! That is why a true follower of Christ can’t support B. Hussein Obama.
You don’t need to look any further than his stand on abortion. Forget his
weasel rhetoric. The FACT is, B. Hussein Obama supports a woman’s right to
kill her baby. Obama supports the legalized slaughter of babies. There is
really nothing more a true follower of Christ needs to know about this man.
But that is not all. B. Hussein Obama also supports redefining God’s Holy
Institution of Marriage to include people who choose to engage in deviant
sexual acts with others of the same sex. How can a true follower of Christ
support a man who wants to change God’s definition of this most holy union
of marriage?

What is most troubling to me is that B. Hussein Obama claims to be a
Christian. Only God knows his heart, but Jesus said, “If you love me, you
will obey me,” not live in rebellion to me. If B. Hussein Obama is truly a
follower of Christ, how can he vote to support the legalized slaughter of
babies and the redefining of God’s Holy Institution of Marriage? Let me
dispel an Internet rumor. Obama is NOT a Muslim. However, he did grow up
in Muslim culture. Your life experiences shape who you are, so while not
being a Muslim, he is no doubt sympathetic to the issues Muslims face.

Let me be blunt. Islam is a false religion of hate and death, a 1400 year
old lie dreamed up by a murdering pedophile named Mohammed. They have a
very real goal of destroying this nation and all who live here who refuse to
convert to their false religion. While those who seek to make Islam more
acceptable and mainstream talk about peace, the fact is, ALL Muslims are
guided by the same book of fantasies Mohammed inspired, the Qu’ran. Their
book clearly calls for the DEATH of all infidels, and that means all
Christians and anyone else who won’t convert. They routinely execute
Christians in other parts of the world, and would do so here in a heartbeat
if they could get away with it. While B. Hussein Obama is NOT a Muslim, due
to his life experiences, he is clearly sympathetic to Muslims, the ones who
want to see this nation destroyed and all who live here who won’t convert to
their false religion dead!

B. Hussein Obama is part of this new movement I have warned you about, the
Religious Left. In case you have been sleeping, there is a new group of
people in our nation who call themselves the “religious left.” This is a
relatively new term so you may not be familiar with it. That is why I felt
it was so critical to take the time today to insure you not only understood
what it means, but who actually makes up this new group of people. Forty
years ago, this group didn’t even exist. They have actually evolved and
grown tremendously over the past decade.

The “religious left” is made up of people who identify themselves as
Christians and hold strong religious beliefs as well as sharing left-wing
ideals. Obviously, this group has risen up in opposition to those who have
been tagged the “religious right” or the “Christian right.” The “Christian
right” is that group of Bible-believing Christians who are politically
active and seek to elect to office those candidates who hold to Biblical
values on the key spiritual issues of our day that are also political
issues.

These would be issues like abortion and life related matters, gay marriage,
family issues, the proliferation of the pornography industry, and the drive
to remove God from the public square. Those in the “religious left” actually
take an anti-Biblical position on these issues and are also heavily involved
in the ecumenical movement, environmental issues, opposing war for any
reason, world hunger, and social issues like healthcare, welfare, and
education.

Interesting that B. Hussein Obama’s first bill as a United States Senator
was a world hunger relief bill that they are trying to ramrod through as we
speak. This would force the United States to pay apx. $900 billion MORE
than we already spend on world hunger. While we have to do our best to feed
the hungry, I guess Obama never read where Jesus said, “The poor you will
have with you always.”

There is nothing wrong with pursuing these noble social issues, Believers
should be more involved on those fronts. The problem with this group is
their anti-Biblical position on the key spiritual issues of our day and
their involvement in these ecumenical movements that require you to set
aside the Absolute Truths of the Bible. However, they support the legalized
slaughter of babies, redefining marriage to include men with men and women
with women, perverting the family by brining children into homes with
homosexual parents, and embrace ecumenical fellowships with all of the cults
and false religions of the world. They deny the inspiration and inerrancy of
the Bible, have rejected God’s Word for the Absolute Truth it represents,
and have bought into the lie of the world that there are “many roads that
lead to God.” These are the people who make up the “religious left!”

B. Hussein Obama’s church is the liberal Trinity United Church of Christ in
Chicago, pastored by the racist Dr. Jeremiah Wright. Wright preaches a
message of black separatism and is a racist in every sense of the word. The
UCC is one of the most liberal denominations there is. They ordain
practicing homosexuals, support slaughtering babies, and preach the social
Gospel of the religious left, having abandoned the inspiration of the Word
and preaching the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. The queen of the New Age
witches, Oprah, also calls Trinity UCC her church.

A modern day foe of God, Barry Lynn of Americans United for Separation of
Church and State is ordained thru this liberal and ungodly denomination.
Lynn has made it his life’s work to try and silence and destroy true works
of God, and last year came after Liveprayer for my stand on satanic cult
member Mitt Romney, by trying to get the IRS to take away our tax-exempt
status. His efforts failed because we did nothing wrong. The fact is, Lynn
has tried to get the IRS to revoke the tax-exempt status of over 70 churches
and ministries over the years, and has failed to be successful even once!

I love you and care about you so much. Revival is currently sweeping the
land, however, it is not the spiritual revival that will be coming very
soon. This current revival is a political one that has transcended into an
emotional charged movement of false hope and promises. The leader of this
cult-like movement is B. Hussein Obama. He is no more the next savior of
this nation than I am the next great heart surgeon, and I hate blood! I am
not even going to talk about his inexperience and the great peril all
Americans will be in with this “child” at the helm in today’s complex and
dangerous world of terror and global economics. I’m not even going to talk
about the fact he is the most liberal of the 50 United States Senators and
what his Presidency would do to this nation. I am most concerned with
people who know the Lord getting caught up in and becoming part of this
movement of hype and false hope.

My friend, the only true hope is Jesus. The only true answers are found in
the Word of God. God gave us in black and white in the Bible, specifically
how to deal with all of the issues in our lives and in this world. More
troubling than anything is that Obama won’t even speak in specifics, only
flowery platitudes. Once you tear away the hype, the smoke and mirrors, all
you are left with is empty rhetoric that inspires people and makes them feel
good, but leads them nowhere. However, it is empty since it doesn’t give
them any real direction. Hope is the greatest gift one person can give to
another, however, if that hope is in anything else but the Lord and His Word
it is false hope.

What we do know about B. Hussein Obama is that he supports the slaughtering
of innocent babies and trying to redefine God’s Holy Institution of Marriage
to include those who choose to engage in deviant forms of sex. Both
positions clearly in rebellion to the Lord and to the Bible. Obama, like
each follower of Christ has to heed the words of Jesus and decide which
master he is going to serve. You can only serve one. I am challenging you
today to decide who YOU are going to follow, B. Hussein Obama, the most
recent false messiah, or Jesus Christ, the true Messiah!!!

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller bkeller@liveprayer.com

Mormon Mitt Romney Is Rick Warren Appreciator!

Posted by Job on February 7, 2008

You see folks, that is what false Christianity that does not have Jesus Christ at its center – or does not accurately represent who Jesus Christ is, which is to quote Thomas “Our LORD and our GOD” – results in: a meaningless false faith whose language can be co – opted by any apostate heretic to use for his own ends. Christians who like to shy away from things like sovereignty, judgment, and blood redemption because they are considered barbarous by the world and instead like to speak of your “faith” using abstractions, platitudes, and generalities remember this: Adolph Hitler espoused Christian family values too. The link below contains this quote from Romney:

Americans love God, and those who don’t have faith , typically
believe in something greater than themselves – a ‘Purpose Driven Life.’

The Christianity that we are called to speak of and live should be that which neither the Mitt Romneys nor the Mike Huckabees can co – opt for their own purposes. The best part is, though, that Romney seems to be stating that what passes for popular Christian faith today is actually no faith at all. Whether you are a values Christian, a oneness Christian, a cultural Christian, a New Age spirituality Christian, an emergent Christian, a prosperity/Word of Faith Christian, it is all the same: lukewarm worldliness. Well on judgment day, Jesus Christ is going to spue you out of His mouth and into the lake of fire, which trust me will not be lukewarm.

JAMES DOBSON ENDORSES MORMON MITT ROMNEY!

Posted by Job on February 6, 2008

I first saw this here but it was confirmed in this devotional as well. Man oh man, I love this election season. So many prominent Christian leaders in the limelight are being exposed for what they are. From the people backing Huckabee despite knowing his connections to the Council on Foreign Relations and to apostates like Kenneth Copeland and John Hagee to Pat Robertson backing Giuliani to the MANY evangelicals and even some fundamentalists backing Mormon Mitt Romney to Donnie McClurkin and many other leading black Christians backing Barack HUSSEIN Obama (here, here, here, here, here, here) well the Lord is exposing for the whole world to see what these prominent Christians are really about and after – the things of this world.Christians, is this the falling away of the American church? If so, make sure that you are not part of that falling away. In a sense, things have been this bad for quite awhile, because the fact that Martin Luther King, Jr. was no better than a Mormon because he did not believe in the deity or resurrection of Jesus Christ despite it being commonly reported … so many people do not know because they do not care to know. And never forget: King’s rise was due to so many alleged Christians, many of them evangelicals and fundamentalists, supporting segregation and racism! Still, I regularly ask some older (than me) Christians have things always been this bad, and even the ones that personally experienced segregation and poverty say without hesitation “No, it wasn’t.”

***DR. DOBSON AND RUSH LIMBAUGH ARE THE LATEST TO JOIN THE “JUDAS GALLERY” !!! WWW.VOTINGFORSATAN.COM IS ONLINE!!! I’ve launched this new website — www.votingforsatan.com — not to tell people who to or not to vote for, but to help educate people on what Mormon’s really believe and hold accountable high-profile Christians who have endorsed cult member Romney’s bid for
the Presidency. The new site features an interactive section with
polls and a great message board where you can post your thoughts and
comments, news notes on the race for the White House, my numerous
Devotionals on Romney and the Mormon church, in-depth writings by an
ex-Mormon that clearly lay out the beliefs and theology of Mormonism,
as well as special videos including the TV program I did in the magical
Mormon underwear worn 24/7 by high level Mormons. Please check it out
and help me by telling everyone you know about this new site, and post
it on every message board and chat room you can find, especially the
sites that cater to politics.

“The word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, prophesy against the
shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign
LORD says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves!
Should not shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds, clothe
yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not
take care of the flock. You have not strengthened the weak or healed the
sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or
searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. So they
were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered
they became food for all the wild animals. My sheep wandered over all the
mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered over the whole earth,
and no one searched or looked for them.” Ezekiel 34:1-6

A sad commentary on so many pastors and Christian leaders right from God’s
Word. Last week I was doing some study in the Book of Ezekiel. In reading
through some passages, I came across these first 6 verses in Ezekiel 34. As
I read these words, I could only think that this was the sad description of
so many pastors and Christian leaders today. 50 years ago, you could sit in
the pew of most any church of any denomination and hear the Truth of God’s
Word. Those pastors and the men and women God raised up on the national
scene were men and women who would never compromise the Truth of the Bible
and understood their only mission was to bring the lost to Christ.

Fast forward to the year 2008 and you have entire denominations of pastors
who don’t even preach, teach or believe the Bible. It is questionable if
many pastors were ever “called” and are even saved. Those who have risen up
into national prominence are more worried about selling books, having the
newest private jet, building bigger buildings, and living like the rulers of
small nations rather than preaching the unadulterated Truth of the Bible and
leading the lost to faith in Jesus Christ. My goodness, you now have
so-called Christian leaders who are endorsing and working for the member of
a satanic cult to become our next President!!!

When these are the men and women leading the people, why are we surprised
that many who sit in the pews of the nations churches on Sunday aren’t even
saved, don’t accept the Bible as Absolute Truth and our only authority, and
the majority of the ones who do lead weak and ineffective lives. That is
why I encourage people all the time to seek out a pastor who is a true
shepherd. That is increasingly difficult today, but there are still many
men of God who have not bowed their knee to Baal and are not the shepherds
described in Ezekiel 34. Sunday is the day most Christians go to church. It
is the only time most of you ever see your pastor, and that is usually from
your seat in the sanctuary as he leads the worship service and preaches the
message.

Having preached in over 500 churches of every denomination nationwide, I can
honestly tell you that for most pastors, Sunday morning is their favorite
day of the week and the one day they usually feel their work for God really
has some meaning. You can never know the pressure most pastors are under. If
it was only getting up on Sunday morning and being the “man of God” it would
be wonderful, but that is not reality. It is a 7-day a week, 24-hour a day
calling. Many have outside jobs. There is the constant pressures of raising
the budget, dealing with the interpersonal problems that always exist when
you have a group of people, overseeing the political infighting that often
occurs, on top of the spiritual requirements of shepherding the flock,
having an anointed word each week for the various services, and other
requirements the office of pastor carries with it.

My prayer for you today is to support your pastor. Pray for your pastor each
day. John 10 gives us the picture of the ideal pastor. Pray that your pastor
will be able to tear away from the distractions of this world to be the
shepherd described in John 10. God has placed that pastor in your life to
guide you, spiritually nurture you, and have spiritual leadership over your
life. Do all you can to show your love and appreciation for all your pastor
does for you, most of which you may not even recognize. Also, God has placed
your pastor in your life for spiritual leadership. When you come into times
of crisis, don’t hesitate to go to your pastor. That is ultimately why they
are there, to help you and guide you through those difficult times in your
life.

I love you and care about you so much. I pray for you daily. Sadly, today
there are too many pastors and Christian leaders who fall into the
description found in Ezekiel 34. It makes the work that much more difficult
when you have people running around calling themselves Christians, but
supporting sins like abortion, homosexuality, the destruction of God’s plan
fo the family. You have others who think there is nothing wrong with
belonging to a cult or false religions and they have bought the
universalistic lie from hell that everyone will get to Heaven.

Let this message today be a remember to lift up your pastor in prayer and
recognize him for all he does for your life. God has called His sheep to be
obedient and obey those in spiritual authority. Take inventory and see if
you are fulfilling this admonition, and ask God to help you. He loves you so
much, that he has placed your pastor in your life to shepherd you and guide
you in your spiritual journey. Show your love for Him today by praying for
and supporting your pastor.

In His love and service,
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Bill Keller bkeller@liveprayer.com

Abrahamic-Faith: Jesus Christ Was Born During Feast Of Tabernacles

Posted by Job on January 18, 2008

Many state – and some emphatically – that the date of the birth of Jesus Christ is of no theological or doctrinal consequence, for if it were the Bible would have given it and told us to commemorate it. Well, Abrahamic-Faith.com does a good job of not only making the case for the time of Jesus Christ’s birth, but its meaning to Christians. The meaning to Christians is probably best expressed in Hebrews 11, with the key verses being 14-16, which reads “For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”  Think, for a second how injurious that passage is to some of the doctrines of Christian Zionist dispensational pre – tribulationists like John Hagee, and consider how Jesus Christ being born during the feast of tabernacles shows how Christians should not be conformed to or otherwise try to hold onto this world but rather live our lives in preparation for and expectation of the next. The late Dr. Vernon McGee used to say of this world “You don’t polish brass on a sinking ship.” That statement puts the agendas of both the dominionist religious right (which dispensational Christian Zionism is a strange manifestation of) and the social gospel religious left into proper perspective, does it not?

Martin Luther King’s MORMON DOCTRINE!

Posted by Job on August 15, 2007

Motivated by this story, I already addressed evidence from King’s own writings that he was a Christian in Proof From His Own Writings That Martin Luther King Jr. Was NOT A Christian, but the weblog post Between Two Worlds: Martin Luther King where I found the online links to his papers this interesting nugget: “MLK accepted the deity of Jesus Christ, and the fact that Jesus Christ was divine, only in the sense that He was one with God in purpose.” That is EXACTLY what Mormons teach! See, Mormons deny Trinity, because they deny that Jesus Christ is deity. Rather than teaching that Jesus Christ is an uncreated pre – existing spirit, they teach that Jesus Christ was a being created by God, no different from angels or people, and that Jesus Christ earned His exceptional position through works (they also teach that Christ’s works surpassed those of God the Father, and when they say Father they mean LITERAL FATHER, because they teach that Jesus Christ, Satan, the angels, and all humans are the result of sexual activity between their god and his MULTIPLE wives in heaven, one of the reasons why murdering pedophile Joseph Smith needed 34 of them himself, despite the fact that a number of them were still married to other men; Mormons also agree with Dan Brown of “The Da Vinci Code” in teaching that Jesus Christ was married; according to their theology he would have had to have been in order to achieve his exalted position). So, since Mormons reject the notion of God in Three Persons, how, then can they claim to believe in Trinity? Simple: BY CLAIMING THAT JESUS CHRIST WAS ONE WITH THE FATHER IN PURPOSE!

And folks say that evil spirits aren’t real? These lying spirits and their false doctrines, well they do get around don’t they? And they all pretty much agree in their lies … getting people to deny God’s Tri – Unity and the deity and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They even use the same parsing, dissembling, dishonest arguments, and justifications for their lies. This heresy of King (who rejected the true Christianity of his father) after that of Ebionitism. You can look up that heresy plus some others here: http://www.spirithome.com/heresies.html. When you realize the number of ancient heresies and false religions that went into Mormonism, it is staggering, evidence that a multitude of evil spirits went into Joseph Smith and all who follow after him. But what is even more staggering is why so few people are willing to publicly discuss that Martin Luther King, Jr. was a heretic and an apostate, yet he managed to found the Southern CHRISTIAN Leadership Conference and pastor a church. The people who knew about this fellow’s belief but allowed him to rise through the ranks of the Christian field without opposing him, do not think that they will not be held accountable. It would be interesting to interview the people who spent a great deal of time with King professionally as well as was in his church and heard him preach if THEY knew that King did not believe in the resurrection. If he did not, then what did this fellow preach about at church? What did his Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost sermons consist of? It is astounding that hard questions like these are never asked of our religious leaders, or even of their laypeople.

Social Engineering Is State Witchcraft

Posted by Job on July 31, 2007

Please kindly refer to the WITCHCRAFT and the  CHURCH WITCHCRAFT pieces from the old site for a little background on this. While it is not the “textbook” definition of witchcraft, my working definition of witchcraft is anything that exerts control over an individual whether by coercion, subversion, or deception. Of course, this is not an entity in a position of legitimate authority wielding it appropriately, such as law enforcement preventing criminals from victimizing innocent people or parents causing their minor children to submit to a moral code. Quite the contrary, the Bible makes it clear that God regards the lack of such things abomination. Rather, witchcraft for our purposes is either usurping authority that you are never supposed to have, or abusing your legitimate authority, in order to cause a person to act in a certain manner. For example, let us consider the voodoo magician or similar. Now most people who seek the services of such people are either trying to learn their futures, gain money, or receive healing for a sickness. But there are people who seek such services in order to gain a measure of influence over others that they ought not to have, such as seeking a “spell” that will cause an object of their affection to reciprocate their emotions, or to have a curse cast on someone that will negatively impact their finances. You might think that this is something trivial or even whimsical, but in fact it is outrageous. What right does any person have to assert any measure of unwanted influence over the mind, will, emotions, affairs, etc. of another? Not only is it an utter violation of the God – given rights of the individual, but it is a rebellion against God Himself. Why? Because God alone is sovereign, and He alone is supposed to govern all individuals, and that includes the human rulers that God sets over people. Also, to people of the Arminian persuasion, hindering the ability of a person to make a conscious free choice between good and evil, to obey God or to turn aside from Him, in all matters is also a great sin. (I would suppose that Calvinists would consider this to be an ever greater attack on God’s sovereignty). This is why God took a clear stand regarding this behavior in scripture: “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live (Exodus 22:8).” I have found no equal in the Bible in terms of an explicit condemnation of a sinner, and the reason is obvious: the witch – and the one who seeks the aid of a witch – is defying and opposing God in the most direct way possible. Thus, Christians that perceive Harry Potter to be just fine as well as the MANY Christians that seek the aid of such people for such “harmless” activities as palm readings, horoscopes, lottery numbers (trust me, these folks would go broke were it not for their Christian clientele) ought to think about what they are doing, supporting, and contributing to. You might not be putting a curse on someone’s health when you are calling up your reader to find the number that you should play in your daily drawing, but you had better believe that plenty of other people use this same person to do such a thing! God killed not only Saul but his sons as well the day after consulting the witch of Endor (I Samuel 28:7) for a reason, and you Christians who engage in such behavior had better be glad that you are not Jews living under the Old Covenant like Saul.

But today in our modern world, the most common form of witchcraft is not done by people that (overtly or knowingly) deal in evil spirits. Instead, I allege that the governments of the earth are the biggest witches about. Think about the many ways that the governments use fear, intimidation, and (yes) education to cause people to act a certain way … in manners against their desire, will, interests, or nature! As a matter of fact, a great many of people have taken the opinion that it is precisely the role of government to do such a thing, and even more people have decided that it is an acceptable state of affairs. Other than maintaining general law and order, what makes people think that the government has the right to not only dictate but even so much INFLUENCE how people should live? The choices that they should make? Think about how this affects a person’s ability, likelihood, or mindset regarding living their lives in the way that God intends: their ability to make a free will choice to do righteousness or unrighteousness. About how this can cause not only an individual but a whole nation to set itself in complete continuous rebellion against God and His sovereign Will.

Now please, try to view this at a higher level than public schools teaching kids that homosexuality is acceptable, or urban governments refusing to enforce the law while simultaneously passing gun control measures making it impossible for people to defend themselves, or these other cultural and political issues of the day. Instead, think of your basic mindset concerning your government, what it expects of you, and what you expect of it. Compare yourself hypothetically to a person living in an area where other than things related to basic law and order government is nonexistent. Such a person would have a completely different mindset from you, would they not? It is entirely possible that such a person would live their lives in a completely different way. Also, consider that in the west it is generally accepted that the more government a society has, the more civilized we considered it to be, and also we even use the level of support that a person has for government – and the type of government that the person supports – as a measure of that person’s MORALITY.

Consider how people who seek to minimize the influence of government over their lives by moving to remote areas are viewed by the rest of society. Realize that such people are living no differently than did a significant portion of our own population barely 100 years ago, and from how a significant portion of the global population still live. Yet we consider such people to be anywhere from strange to people with extreme – and possibly dangerous – religious and social views.

To show how entrenched this is: consider Wade Horn, formerly a top policy director in the Bush administration. This fellow tried to enact policy where the government would give single mothers and fathers financial benefits in return for getting married. This idea was wildly popular with not only small government conservatives (under the logic that fewer single parent homes would mean less social spending to correct the problems that result from it) but also the religious right. Small government conservatives failed to consider that this idea was using the power of the state as it never had been before. And religious conservatives in particular should know better that efforts to help the poor ought to be out of compassion and unconditional, not cynical attempts to manipulate them into acting against their will. Yes, having kids out of wedlock (or more accurately procreative behavior out of wedlock) is sinful. But if you think that using the power of the state to exploit these people’s financial pressures to manipulate them to behave according to your wishes is not just as sinful, then you need to go read your Bible! You cannot coerce people into obeying God. Why? Because if you do, such people are not obeying God! Rather, they are obeying YOU. Therefore, any praise and honor that comes from their doing good deeds goes not to God, who alone is deserving it, but you, the person who is acting as an anti – Christ by standing in God’s place. Not only that, your forcing them to obey YOU DEPRIVE THEM OF THEIR ABILITY TO CHOOSE TO LIVE FOR GOD.

Now of course, there are some areas where this issue is subject to debate. A municipality using its tax and zoning policy to address traffic, school overcrowding, and environmental issues, and funding public transportation projects to provide jobs? That may well be an issue of officials using their legitimate authority in a wise, just manner as did Joseph. But using the same simply because you want to dictate how people live, where their children will attend public school, and make sure your political party retains control over a voting district? That is witchcraft.

And though officials do have the ability to act in a moral and responsible fashion, what is the guarantee that they will do so? The only way would be to A) populate our government with moral responsible people and B) ensure that they remain moral and responsible. Now if Old Testament Israel, God’s elect nation that He Himself by His supernatural intervention in history, could not accomplish this, what makes us think that we can? So, the primary agenda of every Christian should be to limit government. That way, we reduce its potential to bewitch us and cause our nation to rebel against God. So many Christians on the right and the left believe that we can use the power of the state to advance the cause of God’s righteousness. Part of this is that we are willing to delude ourselves into believing that our own moral and cultural preferences are God’s righteousness, can lead a person to God’s righteousness, or have some form of instrinsic virtue and value. Instead we need to consider this real fact: a powerful government hinders the work of what truly is used to advance the cause of righteousness, which is the church. Christians need to work to limit the power of government in a society if for no reason other than a limited government will be less able to oppose the church. It is a terrible shame that no Christian leaders with the respect and influence with the masses are speaking of this reality. Remember: we cannot cause anyone to be righteous. We are not to try to do so, and we certainly are not to use the coercive power of the state to achieve those ends. All we are to do is bring people to Christ with our witness and testimony. Not only is that something that the state can never do, but by its very nature the state will always oppose.

Is There Any Such Thing As A Pro – Choice Christian?

Posted by Job on July 16, 2007

Click on this link healtheland.bravehost.com/abortion before you answer this challenge. Especially if you are a pro – choice Christian. Father God in the Name of Jesus Christ, may people who have had abortions or who have given or participated in them know that there is forgiveness, salvation, and deliverance in You. May all of the saints intercede for such people in prayer, and may they answer the call to seek to be cleansed of the sin, the guilt, the fear, the pain, and the hurt. May they come to You so that no man can condemn them for there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus, and so that you can set them free. Amen.

Concerning Christian Pastors That Refuse To Evangelize

How many pastors NEVER give those they preach to an invitation to accept
Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?  Today, I must address what to me is
the biggest problem in the church today, since it goes to the root of the
churches greatest responsibility and that is to bring the lost to faith in
Jesus Christ.  I realize the church is to spiritually feed its members, to
equip the saints for service, to be a place where Believers can find
fellowship with other Believers, and where most followers of Christ serve
Him.  However, without question the most important job of the church is to
reach out to the lost and hurting and to help lead people to the saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of their sins, and God’s free
gift of everlasting life through faith in His Son!

This is a message that has been percolating for several years now, and
finally reached the boiling point last January during the various
services held in memory of President Gerald Ford.  While those memorial
services for President Ford led me to finally bring this word to you, its
genesis was in the daily contact I have with thousands and thousands of
people all over this nation and around the world, the first hand knowledge I
have of tens of thousands of churches, and the spiritual malpractice well
over 50% of pastors commit each and every Sunday.

Having started my public ministry in the great city of Chicago in 1992, I
studied in great detail the life and ministry of D.L. Moody.  One of my
great honors early in my ministry was to preach on several occasions to the
students at the Moody Bible Institute and preach a mid-week service at the
great Moody Memorial Church.  One of the events that greatly impacted the
life and ministry of Moody was the night of the Chicago fire.  It was Sunday
night, October 8, 1871, and as Moody finished his sermon, he told the crowd
who had gathered to hear him preach to evaluate their relationship with
Christ and return next week to make their decisions for Him. That crowd
never gathered since during the night the building they were meeting in was
consumed by the fire and it would be months before they would find a new
place to hold their services.

Moody would never again make the grievous mistake of sending home those who
came to hear him preach without giving them an invitation to know Jesus as
their Lord and Savior.  The Bible proclaims that TODAY is the day of
salvation.  The Bible teaches that tomorrow is promised to NONE of us.
Moody was haunted by the question, how many people who would have been moved
by the Holy Sprit to walk the aisle and give their life to Christ on that
infamous October night, never did so and died in their sins, lost for all
eternity?

Dwight L. Moody would not even recognize the vast majority of “pastors”
today.  Men, and now women, who preach a watered down message, using secular
books for their references rather than the Bible.  “Pastors” who stand in
the pulpits of America and refuse to even deal with sin since it might
offend people.  The ones who make a mockery of Christ by condoning,
accepting, and even glorifying gross sins like homosexuality and the
slaughter of innocent babies.  And what I am certain would break Moody’s
heart, “pastors” who preach Sunday after Sunday and NEVER give an invitation
for those they are preaching to, to accept Jesus as their Savior by faith.

During the first 3 yrs of my public ministry, I preached in over 500
churches all over the nation.  All types of denominations, racial and ethnic
make-ups, churches with thousands and churches with less than 20.  It was
during those years I had my first insight into how many churches rarely, if
ever gave those who gathered on Sunday an opportunity to accept Jesus as
their Savior by faith.  Over these past 8 years of Liveprayer, in
dealing with literally tens of thousands of people first hand, thousands
upon thousands of churches all over this country and around the world, I
would not hesitate to estimate that in well over 50% of churches, those who
gather are NEVER given the invitation to ask Jesus into their heart and life
by faith and become born again…NEVER!

I remember watching much of the memorial services held at various churches
for President Reagan back in June of 2004, and then just this past January,
watching all of the various memorial series held for President Ford.  I
heard one “pastor” after another speaking, waiting for just one, just one,
to at least have the guts to tell those listening what Jesus said, “I am the
way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through
me.”  There was one who actually did cite that passage, but had the audacity
to leave off, “No one comes to the Father except through me,” I am sure
afraid of offending someone in the audience.  How offended will those people
be when they die without Jesus and are spending eternity in hell because
some gutless “pastor” refused to tell them the Truth?

I gave up hope long ago on seeing even one of these “pastors” with the world
watching on these special occasions, actually doing what God has called them
to do and sharing the Gospel.  Simply telling the people that if you die
without Jesus you will be lost for all eternity.  My goodness, you have the
“pastor” of the largest church in the nation who goes on television often
and actually brags that he doesn’t talk about sin and refuses to answer the
most basic question of the Christian faith which is that  faith in Jesus is
the ONLY way men can be saved and those who choose to reject Him will be in
hell.  These men dishonor Christ and the Bible clearly says those who have
taken on the mantle of leadership will be held to a much higher standard.
God will hold them accountable one day.

This problem in the pastorate has all unfolded over the past 40 years.  Most
of the mainline denominations began to require their pastors to have a
seminary education, but they did not state which seminaries.  As the nation
began to rebel against all authority in the mid ’60s, that included
rebelling against God and the Truth of His Word.  Liberal seminaries popped
up that denied the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture.  Men no longer
needed to be “called” by God, but simply complete the required education.  I
am
convinced there is a percentage, larger than you night think, of “pastors”
in this nation who are not even saved!

Once you reject the authority of the Bible, it opened the door to women
“pastors,” “pastors” who condone sins like homosexually and abortion,
“pastors” who quoted secular books as well as books used by the false
religions of the world more than the Bible, “pastors” who refuse to deal
with sin, and “pastors” who have never given an altar call or led a lost
soul to faith in Christ in their life!

You also have “pastors” like Joel Osteen who have never even been to Bible
college!  It is no wonder he has no grasp of theology.  He majored in
broadcasting in college and ran his father’s television ministry until
taking over as “pastor” after his father’s death.  Being a pastor is not
like running the family business.  You can’t simply wake up one day and
decide to be a pastor, though sadly many do.  Let me ask you a question.
Would you want someone operating on your heart who has never been to medical
school, but simply woke up one day and decided they wanted to be a heart
surgeon?  OF COURSE NOT!  Yet people put their eternal souls in the hands of
“pastors” every day who have never even taken a Bible college class!

Listen, I am not saying you have to have the alphabet following your name to
be qualified to pastor a church.  However, if you have truly been called,
God will guide you to the formal theological training you need to at least
properly preach and teach His Word.  There is so much more that goes into
it, but you have to have at least a basic theological education from a
legitimate Bible school that holds the Bible to be God’s inspired inerrant
Word, representing Absolute Truth, and our final authority in all matters.

Anyone who answers the call of God to preach His Word has the fundamental
responsibility of preaching the Gospel and leading the lost to faith in
Jesus Christ.  A pastor who ends a service without giving an invitation to
accept Christ to those he is preaching to is committing spiritual
malpractice, and as one of God’s watchmen, God WILL hold them accountable
for those who die and spend eternity in hell because they refused to tell
them how to be saved!

I love you and care about you so much.  I am going to make a very bold
statement right now.   If you are going to a church where you rarely, or
even worse, never, hear your pastor give people the invitation to ask Christ
into their hearts and lives, you need to confront your pastor why not.
There is NO reason not to.  It is his job.  In fact, it is probably the most
basic and fundamental part of his job.  If he did nothing else but that, he
would be fulfilling God’s calling on his life.  You need to hear his
explanation for why he refuses to obey God, and then you need do pray if
that is really the church God wants you and your family to be part of.

Also, the next time you are in church, look around you.  Look at the people
around you and ask yourself how many of those people are NOT Believers, who
have never given their heart and life to Christ by faith.  Ask yourself how
many of those people will die and spend eternity in hell for their rejection
of Christ.  Pray for them to hear the Gospel clearly presented.  Pray for
them to allow the Holy Sprit to open their heart to God’s love for them.
Pray for them to surrender their life to Christ by faith and be saved

Lastly, if your pastor is one of these pastors who never gives an invitation
at the end of his service, forward this Devotional to him, or her, and pray
they come under conviction.  I already know I am going to take TONS of heat
for this message.  That is OK.  I have to be obedient to God.  I am almost
certain you have NEVER heard a message like this before and never will
again.  People are too afraid to say what needs to be said.  I can’t stay
silent because the eternal souls of men are at stake.

Those God has called and given the honor to preach, can be used by Him to
bring many lost souls to faith in Jesus Christ.  That won’t happen by
accident, it won’t happen by putting on a great performance,  it won’t
happen by tricking them, and it won’t happen because you made them feel
good.  The only way a person will get saved is if you love them enough to
share with them the simplicity of the Gospel  They need to admit they are a
sinner and need a Savior and that Christ’s loves them unconditionally and
wants to have an eternal relationship with them.

It is the job of ALL Believers in Christ to share the Gospel with the lost.
However, there is NO EXCUSE for any pastor to hold any type of service and
not give those who attend the opportunity to ask Christ into their heart and
life by faith and be saved!

***ARE YOU 100% CERTAIN WHERE YOU WILL SPEND ETERNITY?  The fact is you will die one day.  At that moment, you will either spend eternity with the Lord or be cast into everlasting darkness forever separated from God your Creator.
