Jesus Christ DID Denounce Homosexuality!

Posted by Job on January 3, 2011

From brother W.B. Moore.

Christ DID speak out against homosexuality

What I have to say is to people who claim to be Christians.

Jesus spoke out against sexual immorality.
Matthew 15:18-20

18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man unclean. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what make a man unclean; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him unclean.

Mark 7:20-23

20 He went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him unclean. 21 For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and make a man unclean.

We have to realize that sexual immorality is a category of sin that includes all sexual sin.

1 Corinthians 5:1

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father’s wife.

Paul had to deal with one specific instance of sexual immorality: a man having sex with the wife of his father. This is identified as a sin in the Old Testament, specifically Leviticus 18:8, Leviticus 20:11, Deuteronomy 22:30, and Deuteronomy 27:20. Paul did not further address specific examples of sexual immorality in this passage. However, it is clear that it was a category of sin that dealt with sex that God had prohibited.

Christ said the entire category of sin known as sexual immorality was evil.

Now, sexual immorality would refer to what God had defined as wrong already by the time of when Christ said this; this would come from the Old Testament. As Christians today, we use both the Old and New Testaments to see Who God is, what God has done, how God feels about issues in life, and what He expects of and for us.

The word translated as sexual immorality is Porneia. This word means
1. illicit sexual intercourse

A. adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.
B. sexual intercourse with close relatives; Lev. 18
C. sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman; Mk. 10:11

Romans 1 says even the desire of a man for a man or a woman for a woman is sin. The act of sex between two people of the same gender is also sin.

The term translated in Romans 1 as ‘lust’ is epiqumia in Greek. It means desire, craving, longing, desire for what is forbidden, lust.

It is even the mere desire for same gender sex that is wrong in God’s eyes.

Paul said we must turn away from wickedness if we confess Christ as Lord:

2 Timothy 2:19

Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.

Paul also said God will punish men for sin.

1 Thes 4:3-8

3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5 not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; 6 and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8 Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

It does not matter how you feel about it. It does not matter how you justify it. God said if you do not change and turn to God, then you are not saved. If you claim you have repented and turned to God, then you need to live like it.

Thank you for the post Job, but this battle must be completely fought in in the Spirit,I see you,re using the correct warfare weapon which is the Sword of the Spirit, but words like gay, homosexual, and sissy,s dont cut nothing, you must cut into this perverted spirit by calling it what it is according to the word of GOD this spirit is known as the sodomite, men praticing sodomy, in O.T. GOD destroyed sodom and gomorrah for this sin and even unto this day, GOD has not changed his heart towards those who choose to disobey Him and continue to practice this sin,for the wages of sin is death. If they dont turn and repent, they will die in their sin. JESUS completed everything on the Cross nothing was lelf undone including the judgement of men burning in lust one toward another, Romans 1:27,not my word, but the WORD of the LORD.KJB reader.

Also Job, let me say this, some people think they are christians because they go to church every sunday, or read the bible here and there, or maybe even think of themselves to be good people, which we know that without God our righteousness are as filthy rags, so some professing to being christians may be living by this i,m a good person comment, but true christians know that we must be born again, baptized and filled with the holyghost, and lead by the Spirit of God to fulfil God,s purpose for our lives. christians without the baptism of the holyghost have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof: thats why they compromise God,s Word, because there,s no power in them to take a firm stand against sin. JESUS said ye must be born again!

Right, let me get this straight (no pun intended!), you regard even homosexual orientation as immoral? I’m sorry but that really does mean that you’re a hateful, homophobic bigot!

And please spare me the claptrap about ‘loving the sinner while hating the sin’! A person’s sexual orientation is an intrinsic characteristic. Therefore, saying that one hates homosexuality (defined as an orientation) while loving homosexuals makes about as much sense as saying that one hates femaleness while loving females!

From where I am standing, you’re on about the same level as the racist American Christian sect known as Christian Identity (I doubt whether you’ve heard of them, as few people inside, let alone outside, of America have), who regard Jews and non-whites as inherently evil and Satanic!

    • Actually, I didnt mention anything about orientation. This article mentioned desire, which is what Romans 1 mentioned. I dont think we can say orientation, as scripture is silent on that. But we can definitely say what Scripture does:
      Romans 1:24-28

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions ; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper

The word translated as lust in verse 24 means desire.

As for whether God loves or hates certain sinners – I think Scripture is clear that it is both. God hates certain sins (Deuteronomy 18:9-13; Deuteronomy 22:5; Deuteronomy 23:18; Deuteronomy 25:15-16; Proverbs 12:22; Proverbs 16:5; Proverbs 6:16-19) and does not listen to sinners (Psalm 66:18) – yet God loves everyone in the world so much He sent His Son to suffer and die to pay the penalty for our sins if we believe to the point where we change and follow Him (John 3:16). God wants us to change and turn to Him and have lives which show that change (Acts 26:20).

If we reject what God has said, then we will face God’s judgment (John 3:36).

Since you cite Leviticus, I assume you live by the rules spelled out there:

You never cut your hair, nor shave (Leviticus 19:27)

You never wear clothes made of more than one fabric (Leviticus 19:19)

You’re in favor of the death penalty for psychics (Leviticus 20:27)

Death penalty for adultery (Leviticus 20:10)

Death penalty for anyone who curseth their mother or father (Leviticus 20:9)

You adhere to all of those, right? Because otherwise you’re just another cafeteria Christian – pick some things in the Bible that you agree with, and those are the word of God. Things that don’t make sense today, you ignore.

    • Job said

      boraxo:

In this specific instance, homosexuality is forbidden in the New Testament as well as the Old Testament. In order to deal with this fact, homosexuals and their advocates claim that the references to homosexuality in the New Testament actually mean something else (never mind that they have always been interpreted as meaning homosexuality, including the uses of similar words and phrases in literature other than the Bible).

In general, please abandon the tactic of relying on cliched arguments that those of us who take the Bible seriously have encountered time and time again. In the 2000 years of the existence of Christianity, very intelligent people have very capably addressed the differences between the Old Testament and the New Testament. So do not believe that every argument raised by Bill Maher or the New York Times is as profound as they seem. There are reasons why contemporary Christians are not stoning adulterers or children who curse their parents, do not observe the Sabbath or Jewish holidays, and see nothing wrong with eating pork and shellfish. Were you to take the Bible seriously you would find out what they are.

    • Please do not confuse the punishment laid out in the levitical laws for what GOD says is wrong. We can use scripture to determine the principles He desires us to follow. We can also use scripture to find justification for our pet sins, if we can find scripture we want to ignore and use it to say nothing can be trusted.

But while we are not the nation of Israel, and we are free from the Mosaic Law, we are still under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2), the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ (Romans 8:2). GOD still tells us what is right and wrong, and one of the things we are to avoid is homosexual sex.

I do sincerely believe that homosexual activities are prohibited by the New Testament. Today many homosexuals want to be accepted on the basis of their false argument that they are born with a homosexual orientation. I used to believe this but I no longer do because there is no scientific proof that sexual desire and/or orientation is genetically determined. I believe that homosexuals become involved in that sexual lifestyle for complex psychological and spiritual reasons. That said, it is necessary for homosexuals to repent of their sins or they may face punishment.

You’re citing science in support of the Bible? That’s hilarious – let me know what science says about zombie Jesus springing out of the grave after three days. Bonus: you don’t grasp that just because science hasn’t proven homosexuality is genetic, that doesn’t mean its proven it isn’t. Oh, and the New Testament has nothing to say about homosexuals. Jesus, apparently didn’t care. He did say you should love everyone, but that doesn’t work for you.

  7. G. Farinas said

    Dear Boraxo,

First of all, the Bible does not need science to support it. Science needs the Bible to support it. Your insult of Jesus Christ is repugnant and shows your immaturity, childishness and limited understanding of the laws of Physics, and Biology, etc.. Concerning the New Testament, which is the fundamental Christian text, homosexuality is clearly mentioned and disapproved of by Saint Paul in Romans 1:26-27. I agree that Jesus Christ said that you should love everyone and I always try to love everyone including the homosexuals, rapists and abortionists. Remember, we must love the sinner but that does not mean that we should approve of the sin. Think about it.

Science needs the Bible to support it? That’s hilarious. You’re welcome to believe some myths written down by goat herders in the Bronze Age. But its science that gave you that computer you’re using to reply to me on, not faith.

      • Guillermo Farinas said

        Dear Boraxo,

The New Testament is not a collection of myths written down by goat herders in the Bronze Age. First of all, Saint Paul was a brilliant intellectual from what is now present day Syria or Turkey and he was probably from a wealthy family, so he didn’t have to get his hands dirty herding goats. Secondly, the New Testament was written in the first century AD and not during the Bronze Age which was from 3750 to 600 BC; in other words, the New Testament was written well into the Iron Age. Finally, science did not give me the computer that I am using to communicate with you, nor did faith; my income from work gave me this computer.

If we are going to continue to communicate, I must insist that you get your facts straight, especially concerning the New Testament. May the peace of Jesus Christ be with you.
