Preacher Tony Alamo Accused Of Child Pornography And Children Seized From Compound

Posted by Job on September 22, 2008

I used to actually follow and support this guy back when I was a regular listener of Christian radio and watcher of Christian television.

Alamo raid is third for ministry

They are interviewing the children as well:

Alamo has always proclaimed his innocence and blamed conspiracies involving disgruntled former members, the government, non – Christians, and Roman Catholics for his problems. I ceased listening to or otherwise supporting Alamo after reading some bizarre stories about his late wife’s body’s being stolen by his supporters:

It is alleged that Alamo started the “Jesus movement” in the 1970s, the mix of Christianity and hippie counterculture. Alamo’s group would manufacture designer clothes, and they were actually able to get some Hollywood celebrities to wear them! In any event, I had already started to be put off by how strange his radio broadcast sounded before reading the story above, so I probably would have eventually stopped listening to him anyway.

  2. Yesterday, FBI Special Agents arrested Bernie Hoffman, also known as Tony Alamo in Flagstaff, Arizona . A federal Arrest Warrant was issued for Alamo by United States Magistrate Barry A. Bryant in the Western District of Arkansas for violating United States Code Title 18, Section 2423. This statute is defined as knowingly transporting a minor (under 18) across state lines with the intent to engage in sexual activity. If convicted of the alleged crime, Alamo could be imprisoned for 5 to 30 years.
