Why Aren’t The Christian TV Stars That Went After The Da Vinci Code Going After Oprah Winfrey? MONEY!

From Slice of Laodicea:

Why Are Big Media Ministries Giving Oprah a Free Pass?

Oprah now has over 2 million people taking her webcast with Eckhart Tolle. But a listener raises a question today that is long, long overdue.

In this day and age where all the ministry bigwigs jump on the latest bandwagon to warn Christians about deception and dangers in movies such as “The Da Vinci Code”, or perhaps promote movies to Christians like “Chronicles of Narnia”, why do they not see fit to warn us of Oprah?

I am baffled. I have written Moody Radio, and specifically Dr. Erwin Lutzer, and suggested that they quickly get their act together to help confused Christians who are dabbling in this New Age junk. Are they afraid of Oprah? I know she is also based in Chicago, but surely the town is big enough for 2 religions! I did a quick search of Oprahs name on www.Sermonaudio.com and on www.Oneplace.com looking for sermons tackling her new religion push- I found only 5 between the two sites. Perhaps they could be filed under other titles, or subject matter. So I don’t want to be too harsh. I consider this an urgent topic, as I am sure you do. The pews are filled with Christian women, sincere Christian women, who revere Oprah Winfrey- this is dangerous and the pastors that lead us in the media have a responsibility to address this phenomena, and quickly. They need to specifically say that what Oprah is teaching is wrong and they need to warn their flock. Where are these radio pastors on this topic? I have read great articles about this New Age movement on www.christianworldviewnetwork.com and have heard this discussed responsibly on Way of the Master Radio as well as on your site, but I think the big wigs of radio and ministry need to step up to the plate and support what as already been done by you and your peers. Again I am perplexed, and maybe I am just ignorant to what they have already done. Again I don’t want to be too harsh.

Any thoughts on this? Perhaps this may be addressed in an upcoming article? But I don’t want to add to your workload.

Thanks for all you do!

M.S.

I want to echo my reader’s question. National Religious Broadcasters represents 5 billion dollars worth of media assets. Yet how many are frontally taking on Oprah Winfrey and the poison she is broadcasting day after day? Where are all the national radio preachers and television programs at least issuing a warning? Why am I and a handful of others the only ones saying, “Wait a minute! This is blasphemous error and a virulent attack on King Jesus! Let’s stand up for our Savior and the truth.”

Please take time to email your favorite ministry that may not have addressed this issue of Oprah and her toxic New Spirituality. This is where the battle is being fought now. It’s not theory, it’s reality right in front of us and its affecting millions. Now is the time to be in prayer. Now is the time to stand up and be heard and to contend for the true faith. This issue gives true Christians a superb opportunity to articulate the Gospel to friends and neighbors and co-workers. We may be a small band, but is there not a cause? Don’t we serve the all powerful God? They may be the Goliath, but remember who won that battle.

If you haven’t already, consider joining me Saturday, noon Central time, for prayer about the New Spirituality, the church’s response, our children, and our churches today. We have so much to pray about.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

in this day and time money talks and truth walks. they love money not truth

  2. Job, I think Ingrid was correct in saying:

This issue gives true Christians a superb opportunity to articulate the Gospel to friends and neighbors and co-workers.

I have doubts that many who are avoiding Oprah are going to say much, even if requested to do so. I think it’s going to come down to US sounding the alarm within our own households and to our family and friends as well.

You know, many saints, even our older relatives don’t get online much, but they do have TVs. So we know what they are getting. We’ve got to reach out to our loved ones and older saints that don’t get online like we do.

To think, they used to be the ones telling us what not to watch.
