How does it benefit us if it’s real?
How does it hurt us if it’s fake?
Like with the tomb, HE IS NOT THERE.

If it is real, well the scientific study of the shroud has provided a lot of information about the historical Jesus i.e. height, weight, blood type, nature of his torture on the cross and beforehand, and approximate age at death, as well as the culture in which He lived. All of the information gained from studying the shroud is consistent with Biblical and historical revelation, and as a matter of fact was helpful in exposing flaws in the tests and methods that they use to date objects. What is most interesting is how the shroud seems to have been exposed to some strange light radiation energy that scientists are unfamiliar with.
But I do agree that none of these things have spiritual value apart from (if it is real) God deciding to use it to save someone. I myself, though, regard it to be a hoax precisely because of its uselessness. I do know though that the Muslims of long ago regarded it as being potentially real for they certainly expended a lot of effort trying to find it. Why? So that they could destroy it!
