God’s Word commands us to expose false Apostles, Prophets and Teachers. I am aware that this subject will be uncomfortable to many, as it was to me when I became aware of it.

We live one hour south of ST. Louis Missouri. Joyce Meyer Ministries is located in ST. Louis, and there is a repulsion and disgust for her extravagant lifestyle here.

Joyce Meyer has been in trouble for violating federal tax exempt status laws. For any non for profit business or ministry to be classified as tax exempt, they must meet certain standards. There is a cap on the salaries of employees or ministers. There is also a limit to the amount of possession’s the ministry can own. Joyce Meyer ministries as also been investigated for income tax evasion. They have battled with Jefferson County over this for quite some time.

Joyce Meyer’s attorneys advised her to sell some of their homes and reduce her salary in order to avoid prosecution. She shifted her money around in order to accomplish this.

Below is an excerpt from the ST. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper.

The ministry’s board of trustees, which is headed by Joyce Meyer, agreed to pay
her a $900,000 annual salary in 2002 and 2003.

The board agreed to give her husband, Dave Meyer, the board’s vice president,
an annual salary of $450,000 in each of those same two years.

The board agreed to provide the couple with free personal use of a corporate
jet and luxury cars, a $2 million home where all bills are paid by the ministry
and a separate $50,000-a-year housing allowance.

The ministry paid $1.475 million to buy three houses for the three Meyer
children.

The board authorized Joyce and Dave Meyer to control a $790,000 fund to be used
at their discretion for bonuses to “executive management.”

The job duties of seven employees of the ministry include sorting gifts
“personally received” for Joyce and David Meyer, including cash and jewelry.

TV evangelist Joyce Meyer and her family have received millions in salary and
benefits from her worldwide ministry in recent years, according to newly
released records.

The documents, obtained by the Post-Dispatch under Missouri’s Open Records
laws, provide the first public look at how the worldwide broadcasting and
publishing empire has compensated Meyer and her family.

They paint a picture of a minister and her family who have reaped large
financial rewards from the ministry they created and control. Over 20 years,
Joyce Meyer Ministries of Fenton has grown to a $90 million-a-year empire with
TV and radio programs that reach millions of people in about 70 countries.

Among the details included in the financial statements, board minutes and other
documents Meyer provided to the assessor of Jefferson County in a dispute over
the tax-exempt status of its headquarters property:

Meyer, a former bookkeeper who has built one of the world’s largest television
ministries, has faced criticism from watchdog groups and the Jefferson County
assessor in recent years.

Federal law bars founders of tax-exempt religious organizations from reaping
huge personal benefits from their ministries. Salaries of religious leaders
must be reasonable, meaning they must fall in line with those of other
religious leaders in the area, according to the law.

Joyce and Dave Meyer declined through a spokesman to be interviewed for this
article. Ministry spokesman Mark Sutherland scheduled a news conference at the
Fenton headquarters Friday after the Post-Dispatch posed questions regarding
the Meyer family members’ salaries and perks. He said Meyer was holding a
three-day religious event in Hershey, Pa.

Sutherland noted that Meyer has never denied getting a hefty salary.

“We believe that the Bible teaches that if you give, you will be blessed,”
Sutherland said. “She’s been saying it from the stage for years.”

Sutherland said a Post-Dispatch investigation in late 2003 that raised
questions about the ministry’s spending prompted Meyer to take a reduced annual
salary beginning last year. He said she currently receives $250,000 in taxable
income.

The ministry still provides the Meyers with free use of the home, the cars, the
plane and an $80,000 annual retirement contribution, he said.

Meyer also receives a portion of the $3 million a year in royalties earned from
books and tapes sold at bookstores, Sutherland said. He declined to provide a
specific figure. Previously, that money had gone to the ministry, he said.

Sutherland said that Meyer provided more in royalties to the ministry over the
years than she and her husband had received in salaries and benefits. Meyer has
70 books in print, including one on the New York Times bestseller list.

Critics say that Meyer should not personally be receiving royalties because
workers paid by the ministry help to produce the books and tapes.

Setting salaries, perks

Copies of minutes from ministry board meetings in 2001 and 2002 indicate that
Joyce and Dave Meyer participated in board meetings where their salaries and
perks were approved. Minutes also show that three of the children, who are also
board members, sat in on votes when the board approved the purchase of homes
for them.

Sutherland said Friday that neither Joyce Meyer nor her husband nor the
children ever voted as board members at those meetings. He said such votes are
barred by a 1996 federal law.

The minutes prepared by the board’s secretary describe the family members as
attending and that the votes were unanimous. They do not reflect that anyone
abstained from a vote.

Sutherland said Friday that he could not explain the apparent discrepancy.

In recent years, the ministry’s board has ranged in size from eight to 11
members – Joyce and Dave Meyer, two or three of their children, personal
friends and pastors.

Sutherland said that an “independent compensation board” within that group sets
the Meyers’ salaries. No family members are part of the compensation committee,
he said.

The full board meets once a year to act on the committee’s salary
recommendations, he said. “Dave and Joyce are not even in the board meeting
when their salary is voted on,” Sutherland said.

All four of Joyce and Dave Meyer’s children have been paid salaries by the
ministry as have their spouses.

According to tax records for 2003, the ministry paid one son, David Meyer,
$101,076; another son, Daniel Meyer, $49,453 and daughter Laura Holtzmann, who
works part time, $14,250. In 2001, another daughter, Sandra McCollom, was paid
$50,203.

The ministry also paid son David Meyer a $10,000-a-year housing allowance in
2002 and 2003, even though he lived in the ministry home free of charge,
records show.

Sutherland on Friday declined to provide the current salaries of the Meyer
children.

The Post-Dispatch reported last month that the ministry has put up for sale the
homes lived in by daughter McCollom and her family and by David Meyer and his
family. McCollum’s is selling for $1.3 million and David Meyer’s for $1.25
million. Both adjoin the property where Joyce Meyer lives near Interstate 270
and Gravois Road in south St. Louis County.

Fighting over taxes

Joyce Meyer Ministries has been battling Jefferson County Assessor Randy
Holman for several years to keep its $30 million headquarters and its contents
off the tax rolls.

Holman has maintained that the ministry’s property does not qualify to be tax
exempt.

Under the law, a religious organization can be tax exempt only if its property
is used for the public good and only if public church services are held
regularly at the site, Holman said. Meyer’s headquarters has no public
services; its chapel is used only by the 600 employees who produce and sell
tapes and books, broadcast Meyer’s television program and collect money for the
ministries.

Holman contends that the ministry is a business – the business of selling Joyce
Meyer.

The ministry’s headquarters is on Highway 30 near Fenton. If the headquarters
were removed from the tax rolls, local governments, schools and other agencies
would lose $761,741 this year alone. The ministry says it has separately
donated additional money to schools and other agencies.

Joyce Meyer Ministries has paid its taxes under protest and is appealing
Jefferson County’s actions. The Missouri Tax Commission is expected to hold a
hearing in the coming months.

The ministry’s appeal meant it had to provide the assessor with otherwise
private records – minutes of board meetings, income statements, organizational
charts and employee job descriptions. Once the assessor had them, they became
public under Missouri law.

Holman argues that the Meyer family is personally profiting from the ministry.
The law states that exempt religious property “cannot be held for private or
corporate profit,” he said.

Bolstering his case, Holman said, is Joyce Meyer’s decision last year to begin
getting royalties from the sales of her books and tapes produced by the
ministry.

Holman says that because Meyer’s employees help to write, proofread, edit,
record, advertise and distribute the books, tapes and television program, and
because Meyer is now taking the royalties from their sales, the law bars the
ministry from being tax exempt.

At least 37 workers at the ministry have job duties that include writing or
editing, job descriptions produced by the ministry show. Nearly 90 workers
reproduce and distribute Meyer’s products.

“She’s using the ministry for her own private gain,” Holman said. “That’s the
position we’re taking.”

Records filed with the assessor also show that collecting money and gifts is a
major part of the work at the headquarters. Dozens of workers count the money
streaming in each day. And seven ministry workers spend at least part of their
time keeping track of the personal gifts that go through the ministry to Joyce
and Dave Meyer, according to their job descriptions.

On Friday, Sutherland denied that Meyer accepts any gifts without having them
independently appraised and paying the ministry for them.

Sutherland also disputed Holman’s stance on the ministry’s tax status.

“We feel that since the federal and state governments have told us that we’re
tax-exempt that the local government should honor that,” he said. “No one
should pay taxes they are not required to pay.”

A watchdog group called WallWatchers previously has asked the Internal Revenue
Service to investigate the Meyer family’s use of ministry money. IRS officials
have declined to say whether they are doing so.

Sutherland said Friday that the ministry has “not been contacted by the IRS,
nor do we feel there is a reason for them to contact us.”

Had you done your reasearch, you would have also published the retraction printed in the St. Louis Post Dispatch three years ago after these false revelations.

And had you done your homework you would find that the staff at the SLPD filed a complaint against the paper for filing a retraction and they had to apologize and admit the reporter was right and they had run the retraction to appease meyer supporters. Get your facts straight before you defend this woman who is living in adultery.

    Again,

Do the research. It was an antique commode, the figures were incorrect, if anything, it had a value of $3,000. It is NOT a toilet in a bathroom. Seek and ye shall find, seek first the kingdom. Now there certainly are some out there using and abusing, but Joyce Meyer ministries is NOT one fo them. I dare you to come to the inner city where a mighty work is being done and lives are being changed. It’s unfortunate that Hip Hoppers, the Britney Spears of the world and other secular artist are applauded in regards to their millions. But let a “righteous” amn or woman of God make a dime over a dollar and all hell breaks loose. Wake up saints of God.

  5. Karen,
I think it is interesting that you would try to make some sort of distinction between worldly behavior and worldly behavior. They are the same. Whether it is Britney Spears making millions or Joyce Myers making millions what is the difference really? There are lots and I mean lots of very, very wealthy and well to do “good” people out there out giving anything that Joyce Myers can give, so what is your point? People who are in the wealthiest 10% of the whole world, out give more then all the ministries and all the churches put together…so please do not use ministry money matters and how much “good” they are doing. Unsaved, unregenerate people all over the world are philanthropists, and out give any church, any time. This is a fact. And because Yeshua said his kingdom is not of this world, what should that mean to us? I believe that he said that His kingdom was not of “this world” meaning the world system that was in place at that time. The way that Cesaer and even the religious jews ran the show, reflects in no way the way that the King of Heaven and Earth runs his kingdom. We are of his Kingdom, heirs and joint heirs, so how shall actions in his Kingdom be conducted? According to the principles of this world? I don’t think so. We need to look to the king and follow him. What did he do, and how did he live? We need to reflect that in our daily lives. So does Joyce.

I’M SORRY, BUT I DID NOT DONATE MY HARD EARNED CASH TO JOYCE MEYERS SO THAT SHE AND HER FAMILY CAN TAKE IT AND LIVE SO HIGH. I DONATED TO HELP THE POOR AND NEEDY. I LOVED HER ABOVE ALL OTHER MINISTERS, BUT NOW I BELIEVE SHE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HERSELF AND ALL OF HER FAMILY. I HOPE SHE HAS ASKED FOR GOD’S FORGIVENESS AND GUIDANCE,

I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE OBTAINING WEALTH, BUT TO DO IT WITH FUNDS THAT WERE DONATED FOR THE POOR IS UNCONSCIENCABLE. I WILL NOT GIVE HER ANOTHER DIME.

GOD, PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR BEING IN JUDGEMENT.

    • Adam said

I don’t get why would you say at the end, “GOD,PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR BEING IN JUDGEMENT.” Who are you to give such a judgement? You knew that you were judging Joyce when you were writing your comment, and yet you still went ahead to keep writing? I just don’t understand why. Finally, everything can be true about the allegations toward Joyce Meyer and her ministry, and it could be false, but the one thing that I do know for a fact,is that God is the only one who knows whos right and who’s wrong. And if so she is accountable for her actions, God will deal with her in his ways. Pray for her and the ministry. Not judge. God bless.

Joyce Meyer works for her money, and all the lies that is told on the internet is just so sick.

I enjoy her programs on TBN, will continue to buy her books.

God Bless her for all the good work she and all the people of the Ministry has done.

Joyce Myers is very vocal about God for the world.
sometime wonder if she did give 1/10 to church?
God said to give and support, it seem that Joyce is doing it. that is pretty a lot of money right there but she work hard for it.
Joyce is a good woman and it just happen to be very famous. she continue her voice about God which it is wonderful. no matter Good or negatives still forgive her. she did a wonderful job for the world on about God.
    this is blessing..

  8. Job said

    Maria:

Joyce and Dave Meyer do not run their ministry according to the Bible, starting with their false prosperity doctrine.

  9. Rich P. said

    False Prosperity Doctrine…?
Are you reading the same Bible? What doctrine do you embrace? The Sick, Broke, Busted and Disgusted Doctrine. If the WORD says G-d receives pleasure in the prosperity of His Servants, then why are you embracing all the things Christ came to destroy…Poverty, Sickness, Spiritual Blindness, Selfishness, Doubt, Unbelief and Faithlessness. If you disdain G-ds prosperity plan for your life, then why not quit your job and starve, or next time your sick, don’t seek healing. Why would G-d, the creator of Heaven and Earth want His representatives, Living a impoverished life, full of lack, and broken dreams? Why would the unsaved World want to serve a G-d who has representatives who are struggling, impoverished, suffering in lack and sickness, that aren’t doing any better then they are if not worse. Joyce Meyer is blessed and her ministry is blessed, because she operates in the full WORD. She operates in both the Spiritual and Natural Laws of G-d, that are both found in the WORD. If she truly operates a 90 million dollar ministry, then why can’t she be blessed with a couple percent off that? Lastly…The WORD of Christ says: “And the lord commended the unjust steward, forasmuch as he had done wisely: for the children of this world are wiser in their generation than the children of light.” Luke 16.8. Bottom Line, Get Wisdom and UNDERSTANDING of G-d’s WORD. DONT BE STUPID, embrace G-d’s prosperous plan for your life, otherwise, don’t complain to anyone about the hand you have dealt YOURSELF because of your UNBELIEF!

  10. Emily R. said

“God’s prosperous plan for your life”. What type of prosperity? Financial? God’s Word makes it clear He rejoices when his children are blessed, however, that is not implying that we are all meant to be promoted in our jobs, have wealth, or even to be liked. What if God’s prosperous plan for our lives means to be infected with disease and die to bring His name glory? What if it’s part of God’s plan to show his character to others through our suffering? What are we to make of Job, who suffered excruciating pain even though he was not living in sin or unbelief? How can we say that God’s blessings on us are based on our attitudes of “name it and claim it”? We have no merit, we have nothing to offer God, and He doesn’t need us. To deny it would be denying God’s sovereignty. Christ did not come to destroy poverty or sickness, He is coming a second time to do that very thing, He came to bring life to people who needed spiritual life. I am not saying that Christ was pleased with sickness or poverty, yet He is foremost concerned with his own glory. If our Lord wanted us to live life to the fullest financially and to have success in our jobs, why in the world would He tell his people, “You will be hated by all on account of my name”? Mark 13:13 That doesn’t seem like a successful lifestyle to me. “Why would an unsaved world want to serve a God who’s representatives are struggling, impoverished, suffering in lack and sickness” all because they will not deny Christ. By the way, this is the very life the apostles lived and many people still live around the world out of their love for their Savior. The previous argument has no merit; the only thing that counts is what Scripture says to us about finances and success in this world. The verse Luke 16:8 is not sufficient to build a doctrine upon, for even Christ was a “man of sorrows” and “had no place to lay his head”. Does God want us all to be poor? I don’t think so, yet I don’t believe he blesses all believers with prosperity in this life, nor is there a “lack of faith” when you’re life is less than successful.
Joyce Meyer probably does do wonderful things for millions of people and that’s wonderful. I don’t know her giving record nor is it my business; however, no one should live in the lap of luxury while our brothers and sisters in foreign countries are starving and naked. Regardless, if God has blessed you or not with that vast sum of money, He commands us to “Love our neighbors as we love ourselves”. We want clothes and food and nice cars and nice houses. So do they, and by giving out of what we have we can be a blessing to others. Not just Joyce but all of us! We all will have to answer for ourselves, but I challenge all that are in full agreement of the right of believers to have a prosperous life to read Job, with no biases on either side. What is God’s character and what is He trying to tell us through this book?

    • Layo said

Errrm..you do realise that in the end Job was rewarded with even more than he lost right? Why? Because he stayed the course and refused to be moved by the opinions and judgements of those around him. That is what Joyce has done…she has stayed the course and continued to be bold in the Word and she is blessed with it and for it.

Let’s stop looking at wealth like it’s some ‘evil’ or ‘lower’ state of being. Money is neutral and has no intrinsic value itself. What matters is the way it is used. Joyce has taken care of her family and others in need around the world. She is passing on the blessing that she received. No harm in that…that is to be commended!

I cannot believe that people are so quick to judge and condemn a person who has touched so many lives with a ministry that the Living God gave her for taking 1% of her firstfruit for herself. 1%..our Father entitles us to 90%. Joyce is taking 1%. This is taking, pardon my hip hop lingo, ‘hating’ to a next level!

    • God's Warrior said

Um, one thing I would like to point out, God DOES want us to be successful in every way (yes, that includes in our finances), he states that he made the lilies which are tramples every day, yet even Solomon wasn’t arrayed as a lily, so if he dotes on FLOWERS that lavishly, then how much more will he supply our needs and, yes, our wants? The reason that some people (not necessarily the people in Africa) are not in the lap of luxury is one, they might have a mentality that God either doesn’t want, or won’t supply their wants as well as their needs, or two, that they have a mentality of poverty that really makes them poor, or three, that either money is evil or that they wouldn’t be able to serve God with it, and finally (probably the most common) is that people are not necessarily good stewards of what God has given them. Also, God NEVER says to give ten percent, or give all, only that he loves a cheerful giver. Just because Joyce is taking a couple percent or so DOESN’T mean that she is being stingy or doing it to make a profit, just that she has been rewarded. What was that verse? The one where God challenges us to give freely and that your barns will burst and your vats overflow with new wine? That is what seems to be happening to Joyce, so it goes to show that God is rewarding her for the extensive sums that go to the poor. Also, not only was Job rewarded with way more than he originally had, but there was a reason, it just wasn’t declared by God, it was that (in my opinion) Job believed that he was righteous (and so he was) and that because of that God had no right but to keep on rewarding him. That’s why he freaked out, he was always demending that God show him the light at the end of the tunnel instead of just trusting that there was one. That was what Elihu’s big point was (and God’s for that matter). As for your thing of “that is not implying that we are all meant to be promoted in our jobs, have wealth, or even to be liked.”, yes, it is! In fact, it is not implying, it is telling. We are the children of God and as such he seeks for ways to bless us. As for whether we will be liked, no, not by the world, but he says that that is a good thing, after all, what does it matter what people think of you? We have The Almighty God, the Alpha and Omega, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, so what if not a single other person on Earth likes us? And as to your saying taht God’s plan might be to have us die a painful death, what the HECK makes you think it is his will? God said he turns everything for good, not that everything is good. The reason he doesn’t heal people all the time is that, unless we ask him with faith, that then he is just pulling the puppet strings, and in that case we wouldn’t have free will, which God values oh, so much! Another thing, I can’t think of any way someone dying would give Him glory except for them to be raised from the dead. How do you know that it wasn’t God’s intention for every single martyr to be raised from the dead? That may not have been the case, but it could’ve been. Maybe no one stepped forward, laid their hands on teh body and said, “Rise!” Also, what good is it if you 100% of what you own to the poor if you are then broke and, not only do you need charity, but you can’t give any more to the poor?

First I will say that I am not a Joyce Meyer fan as far as watching her on TV or anywhere else for that matter but I stumbled across your site unfortunate by accident but after reading your self righteous rhetoric, I felt the deep desire to post a short response.

You are a self-righteous hypocrite to utilize all of these resources to attack someone that is a proclaimed child of God whether you agree with what she teaches or not. I have heard some of her teachings and she is biblically correct on most of her teachings that I have heard. Either way unless I specifically heard something that was not biblical I certainly would not attempt to show my jealousy and envy of her as you have done here.

You are not doing anything in any way to edify God, the Kingdom of God, The family of God or The Son and our Savior Jesus Christ. You are not doing anything at all productive as far as leading people to Christ you are simply a lost individual seeking to get some uneducated and angry people to praise you for your ignorant attacks on a Teacher of God and one that God has chosen to use to increase His kingdom. If you want to some type of good for the kingdom of God you might first try to read and study the scriptures yourself and then apply the teachings of Christ in your own life by actually preaching the gospel and leading the lost to Christ. You may have some type of angry jealousy towards Mrs. Meyer but she has certainly lead many to Jesus Christ as their Savior and that is far more than anyone can say for you. You are completely ignorant to attempt to teach that just because you serve God you are to live in a shack under a bridge, as you would have people to believe. God actually does love His children and HE does desire for them to have a nice lifestyle that is according to His blessings on each person, as HE desires not according to what you think someone should have. You have no idea what type of financial help she gives to anyone she may out give anyone else in this country for all anyone on here knows. I would bet anything that she out gives you for certain.

It totally perturbs me to see someone such as yourself to actually seek praise from others for being a complete fool in representing my Lord and Savior. I can guarantee that if the Holy Spirit was living in you and leading you in your actions you would never have engaged in such a satanic attack on a sister in Christ. Now simply ask yourself what good have you done for God in this stupid attack? What do people that do not know the Lord as their personal Savior think when they see someone like you claiming to be such a Christian attacking another child of God that spends her entire life serving Him? Do you think that makes lost souls desire to be a part of such a family? I think not! Now do yourself and the Lord some God and get this wasted space off of the internet and use this space to tell people about the love of Jesus Christ, the Amazing Grace that is offered to anyone that will accept it and tell the world that the only way to enter into the kingdom of God is through Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ only.

Mat 7:3 Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye but don’t notice the log in your own eye?

“ Now go and spread the good news of the gospel to the far ends of the earth” “Love each other as Christ has loved you”

oh my, i really love how you put what you said Truthsayer. I see nothing here but pure jealousy for what Mrs. Meyer has been receiving. God blesses us in different ways for trying to spread His word. I have learned a lot from her and i think learning and seeing the beauty of God’s grace is by far worth more than any house, any jet, any car that we can have. God’s love is priceless. So forget about Mrs. Meyer’s wealth and just focus on her teachings. If you learn about God’s love for us, wether through preachers, personal experiences, reading the bible or however, then consider yourself WEALTHY!!! True riches is not about money, so i hope the issue on Mrs. Meyer is dropped. Ask yourselves how you can serve others and just stop complaining and being jealous of others. Focus on how you can make God proud because hurting someone else, especially a preacher, is not making God proud of you.

Excuse me, but aren’t you doing the very same thing to me? I am a child of God, and you are attacking me. Now realize that it is not my standard that you fail to live up to in this matter as I make it plain that it is perfectly clear that it is our responsibility to correct wayward Christians and warning others not to follow them in their iniquities and abominations lest they share in their plagues, because that is the position that the Bible consistently incontrovertibly takes from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21. It is hard hearted proud men in their lascivious rebellion against God and His Word that claim otherwise. Rather, it is your own standard that you violate. By your own words, you are not to attack me whether you agree with my teachings or not! So by your own standards you are a double – minded hypocrite, a liar and a false accuser.

So go pluck the beam out of your own eye according to the standards of your own false doctrine before you concern yourself with judging me according to the Bible whose teachings that you reject. By the way truthsayer, suppose Paul, Peter, James, John, etc. had adhered to your doctrine? They would have been unable to contend against the people that claim that Jesus Christ never came in the flesh, that Jesus Christ never literally rose again, the Judaizers, the Nicolataines, Pharisees, Sadduccees, Jezebels, synagogues of Satan, anti – Christs, false apostles, etc. Do you not know that all of those people were proclaimed people of God? What is the difference between Joyce Meyer and those wicked people that the New Testament writers contended against? What is the difference between them and YOU? I will tell you what have in common with the rest of them: you refuse to believe or adhere to what the Bible actually says and have created or gone after some devil’s doctrine that you find more accommodating to your own desires. According to your standard, people could be performing human sacrifices in the pulpit and so long as they called themselves Christian, you would be unable to say anything against them!

Pardon me for choosing to adhere to the Bible’s standard to your own private interpretation. And the irony that you are every bit as self – righteous as you claim me to be, and you are so proud of yourself that you cannot see it.

This woman helped them build new homes. They went after Jesus, what makes it any different for her. I believe God told her to help people and she is doing that. People that our own government did not help. God put a calling on Joyce Meyers and I believe if we learn from her the word of God we would be better off. Did you think she was the embodiement of God?…sorry your dissapointed, but she isn’t. Did she pray for your miracle, and it hasn’t come true? Give it a rest. Your responsible for your actions, she’s responsible for hers. Try forming thoughts of your own, and become responsible for them. It’s not like your being chased by Jackson county and the IRS for tax avaision. You remind me of fanatics following some rockstar, hating them and loving them impulsively. Just get over it, your oppinion isn’t going to change anything and unless you buy her books, she doesn’t Really care. Trust yourself and God. What makes you think she should answer to you for her faults? That’s an issue between her and God.

And what 1 Timothy 6 refers to is people who SHOW GODLINESS AS A WAY TO BECOME WEALTHY & people who LONG to be rich, pursuing God’s call on your life and having a territory that is so large that it touches the world, calls for major blessings–and that includes money! Joyce didn’t begin nor is maintaining her ministry because of WEALTH…God has continued to bless her with wealth BECAUSE she is a good steward of it with her ministries…..God has increased her finances to have the ability to bless many in need….And no one persecutes Abraham…the father of us all, whom the Bible states was very rich in livestock, silver and gold (Genesis 13:2)…it is the LOVE of money and chasing behind it that is an issue with God…not enjoying the fruits of your labor & the blessings he gives!

    Sir
I have just fallen accross your website and the cruel critism of Joyce Myer. As a Bible believing Christian of over 60 years, brought up in a Brethren fellowship, and fully sympathetic to the Carismatic renewal, I find your unkind accusations of “false Prophet” against Joyce to be unfounded. I have read some of her books, not all, and listened to and viewed some of her Talks, again not all. I have not heard anything with which scriture is in conflict, according to my Bibles (and I possess and have read and studied a number of different translations) If, as you claim, her lifestyle offends you, then that is your problem – deal with it; if her lifestyle offends the Lord Jesus Christ then He will deal with it, that is His “problem”. It is not for you to pass judgement on Joyce. Save your vitriol for the real “false Prophets” who stalk the world, folk like Todd Bently who really give rise to serious doubts about his faith and his methods. It is a sad fact that even among the Children of God there are men and women who are jealous of others who have “big ministries”. Even Billy Graham was not without his detractors. It is so sad that you seem to have nothing better to do than to devour verbally a woman who is being used mightily by the Lord to minister to others.

Even if you are right in your accusation and hatred of Joyce perhaps you should go back to Phil. 4:18 take it to heart and repent of your very cruel website. Surely the world throws enough ammunition at God’s people without other Christians doing the same. see Gal. 5:15
I see the fruit of the Spirit in Joyce’s life, perhaps we all need to examine ourselves to see if we are showing the fruit in our own lives before we tear each other to pieces.

    Dear John Kaniecki

I take it that you are the author of the critism posted by “Job”. Your jealousy and hatred of Joyce Myer does you no credit. It is easy to level accusations against those of whom you disapprove, although I’am not sure how much of your hatred is directed at Joyce because she is a woman and you don’t approve of women in ministry, and how much is just plain jealousy. To call someone a Pharisee, hypocrite, brood of vipers and a blind fool is inexcusable, The Lord Jesus Christ had very harsh words for anyone who called someone “Raca” – “an idiot”. Jesus says that is as bad as murder. Where does that leave you my friend? I really feel sorry for you as you appear to have nothing better to do than devour a servant of the Lord, whose ministry is blessing thousands. How many lives have you blessed? How many lives have been changed by your ministry? How pure are your motives? And how godly a life do you live? Perhaps you should be answering these questions honestly before the Lord, casting out the beam in your own eye before you try to deal with a perceived mote in anothers eye. I don’t imagine for one moment that you will answer any of this as you have no real defense except to complain about financial matters. As I understand it the accounts for the Joyce Myer ministries are available on the web for all to see. So please stop this hate campaign and persecution of Joyce and use your time more profitably.

When you listen to such evangelist as Meyers, Jakes, and even Osteen, they give you “feel good” sermons. I understand how some of you felt when listening to them. However, I realized their ministry is not lined up with the word of God. As IC mentioned in #15, Meyer’s sex contradicts what the scripture says about women in the church. Also, you cannot claim Jesus and get rich off of Him. The apostle Paul was an example, and he conveyed the same message. All three has done this, along with other very popular evangelist. Don’t sleep on some of your local pulpit pimps. Therefore, what you have is motivational speakers that are not giving us proper edification of our souls. It is not going to feel good burning in hell.

Still no reply or challenge to the facts in the article. Let me tell you there is no salvation in a false gospel!

It is remarkable how you challenge my faith with no knowledge of who I am or what I am about. Even a blind man knows when the sun is shining. It doesn’t take a Bible scholar to see that somebody making excessive profits off of the Word of God is doing something wrong. How far from the model of Paul we have fallen. I say this to all the so called men of God including those in the Church of Christ. I see those who receive five star hotel rooms, a cash payment and a love offering. It is disgusting and revolting and God will not stand it very much longer.

When people suchas Joyce Meyers come in the name of God and deny that God by their greed that hypocrisy hurts Christianity. How many people I have spoke to that insist that the gospel of Jesus is just a scheme to make some huckster on cable tv rich. Alas I wish you would open you eyes Lily. Don’t you understand with God we must be committed one hundred percent. Sure we all sin that is certain. But to exploit others in the name of God as a career is another matter.

Ok, first of all, do you constantly give 100% of what you own to God? Of course not, or you wouldn’t have this computer, neither do I, but what makes you think that God doesn’t reward people that obey him? Also, even if everyone would commit 100% of their possessions to the poor? Probably not, because, just because they would obey God in whatever he told them to do with their money, doesn’t mean that give away all their money in an instant, but I can tell you this for sure, how much would be more, if Joyce donated 100% of her assets when her organization started, to charity and such, or what she has given to charity and such over the years? God says to be a good steward over what he gives you, and that includes being smart with what you give and when, now if God tells you to give an amount, then you give it no matter how big or how small, but if he doesn’t then just be a good steward. Another thing, it really doesn’t matter how much she gives, but that she gives freely, God states so in the story of the woman with the two mites.

We see such terrible situations around the world and we want to help so we give money. So often we find that the money doesn’t get through. We are not stupid and we realise there are costs to be deducted from our contributions. Isn’t it about time that a system was introduced where all monies from people were directed to a central fund, properly audited, run by elected accountable people so that the allegations, sometimes founded and sometimes unfounded, were removed from the true ministry of spreading God’s Word. We can’t sit in judgement on any of these issues because we don’t know the full facts. Joyce’s TV teachings have helped me tremendously and I wouldn’t want her driven away. Professional athletes make huge sums of money and live lavish lifestyles. So do movie stars. Yet, the public adores them and hangs on their every move. There is a show called “Cribs” that shows off the huge, lavishly appointed homes of rappers and athletes and recording artists. Then, a woman who teaches people how to deal with depression, lonliness, insecurity and other horrific problems, is villified for living comfortably. She spreads The Word and gives people hope in trying times. She teaches obedience, sacrifice, diligence and morality. She is not stealing money from anyone and offers wonderful books and recordings that are truly fantastic. Why is everyone worried if she and her family live comfortably? She didn’t come into the ministry for the money and spends the lion’s share on outreach and teaching. She has been a blessing in my life and I have never felt pressured to give. Yes, I have been asked to give, but just by reading her books I have been blessed. Who is going to make tapes and write books and just give them away ? Lots of time and energy go into this ministry. Go complain about Alex Rodriguez or Tom Cruise. Do you think THEY care if you are struggling?

The bottom line is that we need to hear from God as to whether or not we should donate to a ministry. If that ministry is using the funds improperly, that is between them & God. Attacking a Bible teacher is wrong. God will deal with the teacher if need be! Spreading strife is not the answer.

  37. i was looking to write a note to joyce when I came across all this. I myself was a person that lived a life simular to joyces childhood, molested, raped, became a prositute by age 16, heroin addicted, etc. I just went to see Ms Meyers this weekend with my granddaughter. I wanted to just let her listen, not preach at her. She is 16, and of course never experienced anything close to my life. All this back and forth, we I guess that is just the way most ppl are, always wanting to be right. But people like me, those who have found hope, couldn’t careless about all this money matters. Believe me when I say this, the street people, the recovering addicts, etc. don’t care where they get there help. Just that there is help. If Meyers gets paid for what she is sharing, and I don’t think her story is a lie. She really went thur her suffering. I know myself, she has given me hope for That God will help me deal with somethings that any “everyday person” could never understand. Why don’t you tax people do your job and let her do her’s. If she owes the money, then she should pay, if she doesn’t then leave her alone. Money doesn’t matter is she’s got it good for her. No one really cares. Go ask the guy in jail who watches her, the woman in a shelter. They like listening to her answers of hope. Get your own life dude, just sounds alot of religous mumble jumble. We all love Joyce at my AA, homeless shelter, jail crowd. And you all think shame on us. get a life.

I understand what you mean. Its funny. People who have everything criticize Joyce Meyer.
But people like me and others who lost everything to find God love Joyce.
You see God’s message is not for those who have everything already.
They could careless about Joyce Meyer preaching to the broken and downcast…
and instead find the smallest details to criticize them.
You know what I’m fine with that. Because they obviously find happiness in it…

They don’t take into consideration how small of a percentage that money really.
They don’t take into consideration how the share of money she gets, she gives back to the community.
THey don’t take into consideration where or what she has been through to even be blessed to deal with the problem of having too much money!..when in fact years before her ministry, she had to take a leap of faith and Do what God called her to do with no money at all!
LET ME ask you… How many of you if God called you to be pastor of a church would give up everything
in your life. your job, your degree, your old way of living to do it. Oh and don’t forget… YOu have to finance it yourself… and also your not going to start off with a big church.. Your going to have to preach in small places, like prisons and rehab centers, to the sexually abused children and women, to people who don’t even want to hear about the name Jesus!
Want to still do it? Huh? What? Its easy right? Always worrying about how long you would last. hopefully you might be able to save one person. may be two. Oh no…now
you don’t have enough money to pay the small churches big bills! Not to mention, you probably don’t have many supporters because nobody cares about small churches. What now?

LEt’s get real. God wouldn’t use you to go through what Joyce Meyer went through because you’d probably quit. But Joyce didn’t.
She wasn’t in it for the money. She did it to honor God. And now she has to worry about having to much,
When before she had to have faith for just enough.
Get your facts straight. You wouldn’t even last a day in the shoes Joyce Meyer had to walk in.
All you see are what she has reaped… never looking back at what she has sown.

ANd further more.. lets say she gets money from her church who is suppose to pay her a small percentage of the millions they get(83% used for outreach programs)…not counting the royalties she gives back to the church through her books, and DVD’s (which makes more then her yearly check…which she decides to keep instead of the royalties). I would like to pose the question whats wrong with being successful. She doesn’t need to give the royalties she gets from books and tapes back to the church but she does.

One thing that bothers me is that many so called ministries out there are not preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are teaching humanistic things. Many souls are going to hell on a daily basis and we have many “preachers and teachers” out there not doing what they where called to do and that is to preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. I like to watch christians programs but many of them I have to turn the channel. All they talk about is money and they are not preaching or teaching the true Word of God. I would like to know what is necessary to live in the world when it comes to material things? Do I need a jet when I can just pay a regular plane ticket to get wherever I need to go? Do I need a mansion to live content? Do I need a mercedes or rolls royce when my honda or less expensive vehicle can take me to my destination the same way. We have to remember that we are to laid up treasures in heaven and not here on earth. I don’t have any problem with people that are “rich”. The rich won’t take his richess when he dies and the poor won’t take his pennies when he dies either. As christians, let us talk to the lost about what Jesus Christ has done on the cross for them also. May the Lord help us to keep our eyes on Him and not on things.
By the way, I do not watch Joyce Meyer either. I never knew about her ministry money and tax situation until today that I read it here.

11″Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them.”

I don’t judge my husband for not agreeing with me on this issue that is his option and I will love him anyway and pray God will deal with each of us in his own way. To all Christians out there we are called to love one another that doesn’t mean we have to agree but let us respect one another we don’t have all the facts about each other nor do we know all the things they have done for the Lord.

Did you know that our lord Jesus is not poor and in fact He dress himself in luxury that’s why the soldier cast a lot to decide who get Jesus clothe because it’s indeed worth lots of money at that time. If Jesus is poor then no want will want his clothes right that just one of the fact. Don’t judge people on how much God’s bless them. Let God be the judge if she indeed didn’t use the money properly trust God will correct the one that He love when they make mistake and no matter what no one can denied that Joyce indeed have dedicated her life for God and bless many people many nations
