Jesus Christ Specifically Forbad Mary Veneration In Luke 11:27-28!

Woman tries to give worship to the mother of Jesus Christ in Luke 11:27 – “And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.” Jesus Christ refuses to allow the worship in Luke 11:28 – “But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.” Now, this might cause consternation in the minds of some, since The Magnificat Prayer Of Mary In Luke 1:46-55 says this: Luke 1:48 – “
For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.” Have we caught the Bible in a lie? God forbid. When reading the Bible, context is everything. For who else in the Bible said that people would call her blessed? Leah, the wife of Jacob (Israel): Genesis 30:13 “And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.” Of course, Leah did not want anyone to venerate her. Rather, it was her expressing joy that people would know that she was bearing children into the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: God’s chosen elect holy nation that would redeem mankind from sin.
Many centuries later, Mary did the same. Like Leah, Eve was of low estate. But in a different manner: where Leah was in a prominent and wealthy family (both by being born to Laban and marrying Jacob), Mary (unless you believe the heretical The Book Of James) despite being from the line of David was born into nondescript poverty in Nazareth (which was an area with a bad reputation at the time … consider John 1:46 “And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?“, and first century Jews called Christians “Nazarenes” in order to make a mockery of the sect based on the humble origins of the founder of the movement.) So what was the low estate of the wealthy Leah? Being second best in the eyes of her husband, of course! So, she was praising God because despite being second in the eyes of her husband, she was first in his eyes by being allowed to bear the seed of Jacob. The same with Mary: despite being not only underclass (poor) but the underclass of the underclass (poor AND from an area of low repute), God chose Her to bear His own seed. It is a great honor indeed, but not worthy of venerating anyone over. Why? Because despite being honored by God in such a fashion, she was still a person, and people are unworthy of veneration. Why? Because people are all equals! Only God is above humans, and only God is worth veneration, honor, praise, worship, and putting your trust in. Soli deo gloria!
And Jesus Christ knew this. That was why He acted against the natural human temptation to reject the worship of God in spirit and truth in favor of an idol that you can see, hear, feel, and relate to in Luke 11:27-28. How amazing does this get? Well, it is commonly taught that had Mary refused the command of the Lord to be used to bring Jesus Christ into the world, mankind would not have been redeemed (http://web.princeton.edu/sites/chapel/Sermon%20Files/2003_sermons/122103.htm). This article not only repeats that, but claims Mary as the spouse of the Holy Spirit (http://www.chnetwork.org/journals/mary/mary_7.htm). Catholics also teach that Mary, not Jesus Christ, crushed Satan’s head http://www.justforcatholics.org/immaculate.htm.When you understand the Catholic teaching that Mary was born free of original sin (immaculately conceived) and only a sinless womb could bear Jesus Christ, it is logical: she would have been the only person in history capable of doing such a thing, for none other was immaculately conceived but her. The dreadful thought of “what if mankind had not been redeemed by MARY’S CONSENT?” is dealt with by saying that being God, He KNEW that Mary would consent. Why must it be dealt with in such a manner? Because it avoids dealing with the notion that MARY BEING HUMAN WOULD HAVE VETO POWER OVER GOD AND BE ABLE TO HINDER THE WILL OF GOD. And this ability to overcome the Will of God is particularly striking when Christians are told to “pray to Mary because Jesus Christ will listen to His mother.” (Never mind the fact that Mary is not ACTUALLY the mother of Jesus Christ because Jesus Christ is an uncreated eternal spirit whose existence predates that of and is in no way dependent upon Mary … hey what do you know Mormonism with their false god that had to be born into existence and had a definite beginning just like human beings and Catholicism are conceptually close after all … see Why So Many Prominent Catholics Are Supporting Mormon Mitt Romney.) Of course, there is such a thing as standing before God and interceding, as Moses did in the desert to prevent God from wiping the children of Israel out. But even had Moses not done the thing, God would have still raised up from Moses a new nation, and mankind would have still been redeemed. So, it is the Will of God alone. But contrast that with this document http://www.rosary-center.org/ll45n4.htm that claims “Whether we pray to Mary or not, every grace we receive from God comes only because she asked it for us. ” Note how this document diminishes Jesus Christ in order to facilitate the elevation of Mary.
Claims that Catholics do not disobey the explicit command of Jesus Christ not to worship Mary should not be countenanced by Bible – believing Christians. The evidence is thoroughly contrary.

If you didn’t already recognize, I’m no longer playing soft ball on false doctrine. And if I’m true to my word, that I love Catholics although I am not one and never will be, I must be honest with them so that they might repent. Ha…

Independent Conservative: Keep it on, brother in the faith! I am basically through with the Catholic content for now. I do want to do something on apostolic succession myth and the early church history outside of Rome, but that will take awhile. This was actually stuff that I wanted to do for quite awhile, but had on the backburner, but Benedict’s proclamation combined with Bill Keller’s daily devotional motivated me.

The Lord’s name be glorified, not Mary’s!

Heal, next time I visit my dear grandmother’s house in México I will take a snapshot of her altar to La Virgen de Guadalupe and post it.
Truly it is a sight… México is steeped in this idolatry.

Please re-read Luke 11:28. Jesus does not say, “No, but rather…” He says “Yea, but rather” In other words, Yes to “blessed is the womb that bore”. He shifts the focus for his teaching point, but he does not deny the truth the woman uttered.
Instead of seeking out extreme examples of Roman Catholic devotion from the web or the popular realm, learn what the doctrine of Mary is: an extension of the doctrine of Christ. For this you must start with the council of Ephesus, which answered a group of well-meaning Christians who were the first to object to some of the honoring of Mary. Note that this objection did not come until 430, long after honoring Mary and asking her for prayers was an established practice.
